Morty was a mattress industry businessman and wasn't lucky in love. He met and married the slightly older Mary Hauer Crutzen, a daughter of catholic, southern Dutch immigrants. As she left the family, he and his children got strained and still remain so, but Moe keeps contact with them.
He has three kids, Moe (born November 24 1950), and the equally singleton twins Marv and Minnie (born in 1964).
