A/N: I never thought I would get into Tekken, let alone write a fic about it, but here I am. Thank you, OneShotRevolt!
This is an AU set after Tekken 2. In it, Kazuya Mishima won the second King of the Iron Fist Tournament, so everything that happened to him from then on in canon does not happen here. Not only that, all of the Mishimas and Kazamas are in touch with each other much earlier than in canon. This fic takes place in 2005, so these are the characters' ages, from oldest to youngest:
Heihachi Mishima: 63
Kazuya Mishima: 37
Chaolan Lee: 36
Jun Kazama: 31
Lars Alexandersson: 15
Jin Kazama: 8
Asuka Kazama: 4

As always, the park was pristine and tranquil. Kazuya easily understood why Jun loved working here. However, he and the rest of the family were not here for professional reasons.
Somehow, the entire Mishima family, and a few of the Kazamas, were able to make time for a picnic. Lars spread the cloth on the grass, and Jun placed the baskets in the middle of it. Everyone sat down where they pleased. Surprising no one, Kazuya seated himself next to Jun. Lars and Chaolan sat opposite them. Sat next to Chaolan were Jin and Asuka. Off by himself was Heihachi. Jun got the children food, while everyone else helped themselves.
"I'm glad everyone could make it," Jun commented, serene as ever.
"It is a nice change of pace," Kazuya admitted.
"Hopefully, it won't end in violence," Chaolan said.
"Don't give anyone any ideas," Lars remarked.
"Relax, boys," Heihachi commanded. "That won't happen."
The Mishimas gave him a look, but remained silent.
"How is school?" Jun asked the children.
"It's alright," Jin shrugged. "I get good grades, and I stay out of trouble."
"Unlike your father," Heihachi laughed.
Kazuya glared at him, but remembered where he was, and who was with him. He took a deep breath.
"You're doing well, Jin," Chaolan smiled. "Eight years old and already shaping up to be next in line for running the Mishima Zaibatsu. You must be excited about that."
"Sounds boring," Jin replied.
"Running a major corporation is not boring!" Heihachi was actually offended by that.
Lars chuckled, Chaolan laughed, and Kazuya smirked.
"I'm proud of you, Jin," Kazuya said.
"Thank you, Dad," Jin grinned.
"How about you, Asuka?" Jun asked the youngest child. "How is school?"
"School's nice!" Asuka beamed. "I'm making friends, and learning a lot!"
"Excellent!" Chaolan said. "That's what I like to hear!"
"Well done, Asuka," Kazuya smiled.
"Thank you, Uncle Kazu-chan!" Asuka grinned.
Kazuya sighed.
Again with that, he thought.
The nickname the four-year-old gave him was so… diminutive. If there was one thing that Kazuya Mishima didn't like, it was being made to look small or weak in any way. Normally, he would have told Asuka to stop calling him that, but Jun heard her use it once, and approved of it. As such, he allowed its use, so long as no one outside of the family ever heard it. That didn't stop Heihachi, Chaolan, and Lars from snorting, chuckling, or laughing at him whenever they heard it, however.
Laugh for now, he thought. I'll make sure you regret it later.
The picnic continued, everyone talking about their goings on. When everyone was finished eating, Asuka stood up.
"Uncle Kazu-chan, I have a question for you," Asuka smiled at him.
Kazuya waited for the others to finish reacting before responding.
"Yes, Asuka?"
"When I'm grown up, can we get married?" Asuka looked up at him, her eyes resembling a puppy's. "Please?"
Kazuya's self-control was the only thing keeping him from dropping his jaw.
"… 'Married?'" he repeated.
"Yeah!" Asuka nodded. "I love you, Uncle Kazu-chan, and everyone says that when you're grown up and love someone, you get married. You're already grown up, but I'm not. So I'm waiting to grow up so we can get married!"
For once in his life, Kazuya was caught off guard, and had no idea how to respond. He looked at Jun.
Surely she'll know how to get me out of this, he thought.
Jun looked at Asuka.
"You really love your Uncle Kazuya, Asuka," she smiled. "I'm sure you'll make him happy when you two are married."
"Auntie Jun says it's okay!" Asuka threw her tiny fists into the air.
Kazuya's jaw actually dropped.
"Jun?!" he screeched.
This has to be a joke. She can't really be okay with this. There's no way!
Jin raised his hand.
"Yes, Jin?" Jun called on him.
"I'm happy for you, Asuka," Jin said. "But if you and Dad get married, wouldn't that make you my stepmother?"
Asuka gasped in horror.
"You're right!" she said. "I love you, Jin, but I don't want to be your mom!"
"Yeah, that'd be weird," Jin nodded, also looking horrified.
Asuka thought about this revelation for a minute, then looked at Kazuya sadly.
"I'm sorry, Uncle Kazu-chan," she bowed. "I can't get married to you anymore."
"Don't worry about it!" Kazuya's response was hasty, tinged with slight panic. "I'm fine with that!"
"Are you sure?" Asuka straightened up.
"Yes, I'm sure!" Kazuya's tone didn't change. "I absolutely accept your decision!"
"Okay!" Asuka grinned, glad that Kazuya wasn't sad.
Kazuya sighed in relief, then looked at Jun. Jun's expression never once changed, but her eyes conveyed a message.
Of course nothing was going to happen, so there was no need for me to get agitated. You shouldn't get riled up, either.
Kazuya took a calming breath, nodding at her. The calmness evaporated when he heard a snort. His head snapped in its direction.
Heihachi was silent, a grin on his face. It was a sincere one, lacking any malice. It unnerved Kazuya more than any of his other grins.
Lars's lips were drawn into his mouth. He was trying not to laugh. Kazuya knew his half-brother didn't want to disrespect him. He also knew that Lars was remembering when he had a crush on Jun when he first met her, when he was twelve. Kazuya decided to let it slide, as Lars wasn't the one who snorted.
That left Chaolan, who was shaking from his contained laughter. Tears were in his eyes. Kazuya knew Chaolan would never let him live this down. He would never hear the end of it. Kazuya glared at him.
Laugh while you can, Lee, he thought. You'll be doing anything but laughing after our sparring match tonight.
"Asuka," Heihachi addressed the youngest Kazama, grin still in place. "While you can't marry Kazuya, you can marry Jin."
Everyone looked at Heihachi.
"'Marry Jin?'" Asuka repeated.
"He's closer to your age, and you two love each other," the eldest Mishima observed.
"I do love Jin," Asuka admitted.
She looked at Jin, who smiled at her.
"I love you too, Asuka," he smiled. "When we're both adults, let's get married!"
"Okay!" Asuka accepted, hugging him.
Jin reciprocated the hug. Both of them had grins on their faces.
"In that case, I'll pay for everything!" Heihachi offered. "Money is no object when it comes to you two!"
The others laughed, finding the whole thing cute, not putting any stock into it.
The only exception was Kazuya, who studied Heihachi.
This isn't like him at all, he thought. What's he plotting?
While humor was in Heihachi's expression, his eyes also held ambition as he looked at the children.
Of course he's up to something, Kazuya thought. But what would he gain from the two of them marrying?
He looked at Jin and Asuka, trying to figure it out.
They look like small versions of Jun and I, he observed.
Realization hit him like a punch below the belt.
Jin has the Devil Gene within him. He has to have it. He might also have the same Kazama abilities Jun has. The same can be said of Asuka. A union between them might result in offspring with both of their abilities. Heihachi can control their children, and their abilities.
Kazuya was falling. He was five years old, and he was falling from the cliff.
No. I will not let this happen. This ends before it begins.
Kazuya was about to voice his thoughts, when he realized that that would be exactly what Heihachi would want.
I'm the only one thinking this. If I say anything right now, while everyone thinks he's joking, no one will believe me.
Kazuya grit his teeth. Immediate action was off the table, which left the long game.
Heihachi will try to influence them to get together from this point on. I can oppose him by influencing them in the opposite direction, and even keep them apart if I have to.
That seemed to be the best option. But then he thought of the consequences.
I always fought against Heihachi when I could. Jin would do the same to me, especially in adolescence. If I don't do this right, I'll end up causing them to rebel and push them together.
There was also the scenario that made Kazuya's insides constrict.
What if they naturally develop feelings for each other? Their blood relationship is distant enough that such a thing wouldn't be looked down on here.
Kazuya was hoping that wouldn't happen, but he knew he'd have to think about this legitimate possibility.
The best case scenario is that they forget about this childhood marriage proposal over time, and nothing happens. I want that to be the case.
Kazuya looked around. Everyone seemed to forget about him. He looked at Jun, Chaolan, and Lars.
Lars is too young to need to know about this right now. Jun and Chaolan absolutely need to know about this. I will tell the two of them in private tonight.
Resolve firm, Kazuya's hands became fists.
You won't ruin the next generation, Heihachi.
A/N: This has been my first Tekken fic. Let me know how I did, and so on!
