Say'ri: Ha! Ragh!
*huff* One more round.
Anna: Okay, who's making all that noise at this hour? 'Cause I'm about ready to throw down at this point.
Say'ri: Hiya!
Anna: Is that…? Hey, princess!
Say'ri: Ragh- Huh? Oof!
Anna: Nice show there, clumsy. Use your feet often?
Say'ri: I-I am not clumsy! Fie… you startled me!
Anna: Uh-huh, sure. Here, let me help you up.
Say'ri: Thank you, um… I don't believe we've met before. Are you a member of Lord Chrom's army?
Anna: Eh, sorta. I'm the merchant who sleeps in that tent over there.
Say'ri: Tent? Oh! Mercy, I didn't notice it was there.
A thousand apologies, lady, uh…
Anna: Not a lady, I'm a merchant. Oh, and my name's Anna.
Say'ri: A thousand apologies Anna, I must have been keeping you up with all my training.
Anna: Yeeup. *yawn*
What're you doing training this late anyway?
Say'ri: Keeping my skills sharp. The fate of my home demands no less!
Anna: Uh-huh, that poor tree must be the best dueling partner of all time.
Say'ri: Heh. I admit, I do prefer a live partner to one made of bark, but I couldnt bring myself to trouble the others.
Though, now that you are here, may I-
Anna: If I do, then will you finally go to bed?
Say'ri: Yes!
Anna: *Sigh* Okay then. Hand me one of these things and go stand over there.
You train like this all the time?
Say'ri: Of course! Chon'sin deserves nothing less. Start!
Anna: Hm…
Say'ri: Is something wrong?
Anna: Everything's about Chon'sin, huh?
Say'ri: Um... Yes?
Anna: You sure about that?
Say'ri: What are you implying- ow!
Anna: I win.
Say'ri: When? How?
What?
Anna: Goodnight.
Say'ri: Wait, Anna! Anna?
Fie, get back here!
B Rank
Say'ri: Anna? Anna, I know you are here!
Anna: Sheesh lady, ever hear of an inside voice?
Say'ri: A-apologies. I've been trying to find you for a few hours now.
Anna: Huh? Why?
Say'ri: I request another duel!
Anna: Uh, sure?
Say'ri: Yes! Shall we move to the training grounds?
Anna: Whatever floats your boat.
Anna: So, why are we doing this again?
Say'ri: Er… To train?
Anna: Uh-huh.
Soldier: Ready?
Fight!
Say'ri: Hya!
Anna: Hah!
Nice try your, highness!
Say'ri: Rggh…
Anna: Why so testy? It's just for training, right?
Say'ri: Of course!
Ragh!
Huh?- Ow!
Anna: Were you actually trying to hit me with that?
Also, I win.
Say'ri: Fie! Again!
Anna: Seriously?
Say'ri: Did I stutter?
Anna: *sigh* Nope.
Soldier: That's five victories to Anna!
Archer: Hah, pay up!
Mage: Damn it…
Say'ri: *huff* *mumble*
Anna: Here, take my hand.
Say'ri: …
Anna: Sorry about that last hit, looks like that's gonna leave a pretty big bruise.
Say'ri: Aye, that is does…
Anna: Hey, uh, are you okay?
Say'ri: I… I am perfectly fine.
Thank you for sparring. Farewell.
Anna: Say'ri, wait! Say'ri?
What's her deal?
Robin: That's what I'm wondering.
Anna: Oh, hi Robin. Were you watching us?
Robin: Only for the last three rounds. Say'ri seems to be having a rough go of it lately.
She hasn't beaten anyone in a sparring match for a couple days now. I got her 10 to 0 yesterday.
Anna: Seriously? Doesn't she usually wipe the floor with you?
Robin: I wouldn't say-
Anna: Everyone else would.
Robin: *sigh* Anyway, do you know what's up with her?
Anna: I think I have an idea.
Robin: Care to share?
Anna: Nope. I can deal with it though.
I think.
A Rank:
Anna: Say'ri?
Say'ri: Hm? Oh, greetings Anna…
Anna: Yeah, yeah. Greetings, blah, blah, blah, pick up the training sword.
Say'ri: Excuse-
Anna: Now.
Say'ri: …
As you wish.
Anna: Good, now, hit me.
Say'ri: I've been attempting that for a week now.
Anna: Just do it.
Say'ri: Fine... Ha!
Anna: …
Are you kidding me? That felt more like a stiff breeze than a sword strike.
Say'ri: You only told me to hit you, not how-
Anna: You know exactly what I meant.
If you're gonna be that useless-
Say'ri: Grr… Hragh!
Anna: Oof!
Oh, come on… If you're going to be this weak…
Say'ri: Shut up!
Anna: Gah!
N-not happening!
Say'ri: Rah- huh?
Anna: Now let's see if you can do it when I block-
Say'ri: I said shut up!
Anna: *sputter* *cough*
(There we go!)
Anna: *Huff* *cough* I've fought mud crabs fiercer than you!
(OWWWWWWWWWWW!)
Say'ri: I… *huff* Shut up…
Anna: Not-
Say'ri: Fie! Anna. I mean it. Please stop.
Anna: …
Say'ri: …
I could never best Yen'fay when we sparred.
Anna: Huh?
Say'ri: No matter how often I tried, how fiercely I fought, I could never land a blow.
I could never understand why… until I fought you.
Anna: Thanks, but I'm not exactly a sword master.
Say'ri: Your skill has nothing to do with it. Fie, both of you saw straight through me.
Anna: …
Say'ri: You asked me, "Everything is for Chon'sin, huh?"
Yen'fay would always ask me the same, silently as we dueled, every strike was a challenge to the words that my land and her people are all that I fight for.
For so long I believed myself, but the truth is that I fight for myself.
Anna: Say'ri…
Say'ri: I love Chon'sin, but somewhere in my heart I always wanted to be better than him, than anyone else.
I used Chon'sin as an excuse, a reason to fight him at every opportunity, but he could see even before I could that my mind and heart were not in tune.
I could beat anyone I challenged given time, but Yen'fay? Not once. He used his knowledge against me, just as you do.
Anna: Well, I didn't know it went that deep, but yeah. I could tell just by looking at you that there was something you didn't want to admit. Merchant's can always tell that kind of thing.
Say'ri: Fie… To be seen through so easily by a complete stranger… The anger and shame I felt fighting Yen'fay all those years ago came flooding back.
I felt as though everyone could see through my lies…
Anna: Well, if that… legendary beat down you just gave me is any indication, you aren't conflicted anymore.
Say'ri: Heh, true enough. I will continue to fight for Chon'sin, to see her free and give her people the peace they deserve.
But I will no longer hide my desire to fight for my own sake. I will no longer be ashamed, but embrace it and use it to grow stronger.
Anna: That's good, that's real good.
Now, if you'll excuse me… I'm just gonna lie down and try not to die.
Say'ri: What- Oh, by Mila! I hadn't realized how bad you look.
Anna: Oh? I feel fantastic… Ow….
Say'ri: Here, drink this vulnerary.
Anna: *gulp* Thanks.
Oh, and I'm never sparring with you again. Ever.
Say'ri: *Chuckles* Aye, that seems fair to me. I shall leave you alone from now on.
Anna: I didn't say we can't hang out. We're… sort of friends.
Say'ri: Ah… I would like that.
Anna: Same. Now, sort of friends get other sort of friends blankets. This floor is cold and I'm not getting up for a while.
Say'ri: Of course my friend.
I'm back
Back again
I've had this done for a while but a combination of real life and lack of faith in my writing skill made put it off for a yeaf, but we're back and will havw at least three more chapters after this. Then when we're all done here I'll be going over to Three Houses and giving some love to characters over there as well!
Next up: Olivia.
