Chapter 5! Please RandR

Slumber Party, Hungover, and Catching up

The ringing of a phone brought Charlie Brown out of a deep sleep. By the time he had realized the noise was his cell phone it stopped. Figuring whoever it was would leave a message he rolled over to go back to sleep. As soon as he got comfortable the ringing started again. Reaching for his phone he sat up in his bed.

"Hello." He cleared his throat trying to get the sound of sleep out.

"Finally, this is the third time I've called you. I need you to come over."

Charlie yanked the phone from his ear to look at the screen. This could not be the person he thought it was, no chance. He had to be dreaming.

"Grey?"

"Yes Brown, I need you to come over. It's Lucy."

Charlie, now fully awake, turned on his lamp and started looking for his shoes.

"What about her, is she okay?"

"Well... she," Violet started but there was a commotion and another voice came on the line.

"Char, Char, the sky is a black hole. I think that means the world is ending." A drunk Lucy told him.

"Hey Lu, I don't think you need to worry about that. Can you give the phone back to Violet please?"

Lucy gasped, "are you guys in love? That's so sweet!"

She then proceeded to start singing through fits of giggles.

"Char and Vi sitting in a tree K-I-S-S..."

Another commotion and Violet was back on the phone.

"Please help me. My parents would kill me if they found her like this. They are still at a party but they might come home. You have to come get her."

Violet sounded like she was on the verge of tears. Charlie Brown knew that she was a good friend but he also knew she hated getting in trouble. She was the definition of a good girl.

"I'm on my way, I will be there shortly."

"Thank you"

Twenty minutes later Charlie Brown was pulling into Violets driveway. He had tried to get a hold of Linus but it kept going to voicemail.

Before he could even knock the front door swung open. Violet stood in the door way in a her pajamas looking weary.

"Follow me. She is in the kitchen. I love her but she can't stay here."

She sounded sad again. Charlie put his hand on her shoulder.

"I understand Violet, I got her."

Entering the kitchen Charlie found Lucy sitting on the counter. She was eating what looked like Oreos.

Going to stand in front of her Charlie took the Oreos away.

"Hey Lu, ready to go home."

"Nope. Vi and I are have a slumber party."

"Actually Violet isn't feeling well so I'm here to get you."

Lucy groaned before looking at Violet.

"I thought you were going to practice holding your liquor, Violet."

Violet laughed, "Yeah, well I've been busy."

Sighing Lucy turned back to Charlie.

"Fine we can go. Piggy back ride?"

Charlie turned around so Lucy could get on his back. When she was positioned he started heading for the front door. Violet smiled at him.

"Thanks again." She whispered.

"Don't mention it." He smiled back.

Getting Lucy into his house was harder than he thought it would be. Getting a drunk person to understand they needed to be quiet was impossible.

When they were finally in his bedroom he breathed a sigh of relief. Now just to convince Lucy to go to sleep.

"Hey Lu will you do me a favor? I have to get up early, do you mind if we go to sleep now?"

"Of course, Char."

Wow that was easier than he thought it would be.

"Yay! A slumber party." Lucy shouted.

She laid down on his bed. She started to reach for him and before he knew what was happening she was pulling him onto the bed too.

"Lucy I was going to sleep on the floor."

"Shh." Was her only reply.

She put her head on his shoulder and put her right leg across his body. Charlie froze, was he being punished for something?

Not to long after, Lucy's breathing evened out and he could tell she was a sleep. Detangling himself from her he made sure she could reach the trash can if needed. He then made himself comfortable on the floor.

The next morning Charlie woke Lucy up with Coffee and Advil. Her hair was going wild and she had a look of embarrassment on her face. She looked adorable, yep he was being punished.

"How bad was last night?" She asked him after a sip of the coffee.

"What do you mean?" He asked trying to look confused.

Rolling her eyes she gave him a look.

"Come on, I can take it, I made a fool out of myself didn't I?"

"Well, I didn't see everything but I do know there was table dancing and later Oreos. Everything in between you will have to get from Violet."

"Table Dancing? Oh no." Lucy put her head in her hands, "That bad?"

"Come on Luce, no big deal."

She nodded her head and took a big gulp of the coffee.

"How did I get here?" She asked him.

"I came and got you from Violet's"

"Of course you did, always rescuing me, Char. No wonder Schroeder isn't interested. I'm an idiot."

"Come on Lucy, you are not an idiot. I'm not always rescuing you. Besides I've changed my mind about help you with Schroeder. If he is the one you want than fine, I want you to be happy. Whatever you need, I'm your man."

It pained him to say this but it was true. She smiled at him before pulling him in for a hug.

"Thanks Char, see rescuing me again."

Ten mintues before six, the agreed upon time, Charlie walked into the local Burger joint. Looking around he spotted Becca sitting in a booth already.

As he walked toward her he took in her appearance. She was in a flowery summer dress and the top half of her hair was braided. She looked nice.

"Hey." He said as he sat down.

"Hey Charlie." Her smile was bright and reached her green eyes.

They were a pretty green but not as eletric as Lucy's green eyes. Charlie looked away, picking up a menu he tried clear her from his head. She wasn't here, Becca was, he needed to be fair to both of them and to himself.

After they had ordered they fell into easy conversation. After She had moved all those years ago she and Peppermint Patty had kept in touch. She had been invited to stay for the weekend and jumped at the chance.

She loved home but missed where she had came from.

Charlie told her about his close relationship with Linus, his plans for school, and how he couldn't wait to leave town.

Sally had been right, Catching up wasn't so bad. He actually enjoyed Becca's company. He didn't mention Lucy one time.
