Chapter 7

Lady Frigga requests a Favor

As Odin descended the stairwell he heard music, laughter, and much merriment. He went right to the source of the cause. There in the next room he found, the Warriors Three, along with his son Odin, drinking, laughing and no doubt telling crude jokes. Loki he found sitting by himself reading in a room full of such noise. It mattered not to him so much, for this is normal for his son and his companions, however, on this evening he requested silence from those who would accompany him to the northern border on tomorrow's journey. He heard a noise from behind him, it was his serenely beautiful wife, the Lady Frigga. She gently touched his arm and said to him, "you have not told him yet have you, my Lord?" He smiled at her, and responded, "No my dear, when the time comes." Frigga turned to look at her son, Thor, as he joined his friends in song, poured liquer down his throat and drank as there would be no tomorrow. Her vision was not clear as of yet. She knew in her heart that Odin had such good reason for waiting to tell Thor of tomorrow's escapade. She went over to her son and bent down to plant a kiss on his forehead, "until tomorrow, sleep well my son." Thor looked up into her eyes and smiled. She then looked in the direction of her other son Loki, and motioned with her eyes, and bade him come and join her in the next room. As Loki joined her, she then said to him, "I have a request to make my dear I hope that you will help me." Loki smiled, "yes of course mother whatever it is I promise." She touched Loki on the cheek, "Loki tomorrow Thor will be asked to perform a task of that of a future King of Asguard, it will be a difficult task please help him if he should need you." Loki had a puzzled look on his face. Frigga said to him, "he will need your reasoning capabilities my dear." She quickly added, "you have a way with words, he will need to understand why he has to perform this task." Loki reached for his mother's hand and kissed it softly, "rest assured my Lady, I will do what I can." She replied, "I know you will my son."
