INTRODUCTION

Long ago…about many years before our time of Middle Earth, the Creator,Éarendel, once had a majestic and beautiful landfill kingdom, that was ruled by a good race of Elves, Men, Dwarves, Hobbits, and Wizards. Earendel had an heir, his son, Alzander, that later married in the Immortal youth of a descended Valar, a high-powered spirit. This ruler later became the form of an Elvish-man and was betrothed to Lady Galadriel, an Elvish woman of the light, the Narrator of the former J. R. R. Tolkien's Hobbitand Lord of the Rings books/films. Lady Galadriel had a daughter, named Veralina Valar, of whom they called Lady Vera. Some have called her; Empress Vera of Middle Earth, since she was the direct descendant of the former Earendel. Many years before the birth of her future betrothal, as young and never-aging Elvish woman, Lady Vera was a kind keeper of Nature. She kept all things well, changed the control of the seasons as well as the weather around Middle Earth. However, Vera did have a slight problem growing up as a lady. Vera met a strange, young man called Sauron before or somewhat after our wars began. The dark lord, Sauron, was muchly jealous of the Empress' beauty and her singing voice. He wanted her for himself, and her power for pain in heirs and to destroy all good things. She didn't know this right away, for the dark lord went to cast his shadow upon the battlefield, as a decoy to trick the royal family. For that he could foolishly lead the Empress with his charming, deceiving wiles to court the Empress of his own terms and claim her as his property. Vera was very smart, and she secretly in her heart didn't trust Sauron. Vera led him off from his plots and love traps for her, but Sauron tried harder.

Her parents were out of range for this sudden approach, but Vera's friends, the trees and the dwarves, who were aware of this affect. The dwarves who whispered and wondered behind the bushes, and spoke with the trees, and the trees see all, feel all, and know all. Sauron came as a tall, pale and dark-haired figure, he wore red and brown, and his smile was very deceiving. "My beautiful, little friend, please do sing to me. A comforting song and rest your head upon my chest." He said, in a calm, but charmed voice. "For it is Spring, my lady, and it's the season of love. Many people play among their lovers and 'prey' yonder their songs to their good fellows who are happy to court them."

Vera frowns, "My lord, you must be mistaken, you are not my love. But of a friendly face who seems to deceive me. I am a clever young lady, and in my heart, I am not beloved by you at all. You are just playing around and thinking that you are my love. You seem to ignore everything I say or do, just to only pay attention to the things you only want to hear." She replied, softly. "I hate to say this-but, Sauron, I have no valued love for you or your heart. You are not cleansed of the spirit of the light, nor that you are not devoted to becoming in part of mine. You cannot fool me, and you never will. And don't be so arrogant by telling me that I must be a silly girl. I am not hearing things, and I take my reputation most seriously." Sauron grips the soft hands of Vera, and kisses it, hungrily clutches her soft fragrance of her skin. Vera pulls away from his grasp and backs away from him. His eyes started to glow from earthly brown to fire-red. "Most beautiful and glorious Eve, thy man's heart is touched with such beauty and softness, I cannot let your precious hand get into harms way. My…MOST DELICIOUS LOVE. Come to me…" he said, hungrily, approaching her slowly. "My virtuous love, my lady, my…EVERYTHING! I need you, moreover, I WANT YOU TO BE MY QUEEN!"

Vera raises her arrow from her quiver and draws to her bow, "Stay away from me you lying-slithering, beast YOU!" she shouted, disturbed. "Another move and you are a dead spirit, for these are no ordinary man's arrows, these are the Ashwood quivery of the Black Arrows. Prepare to fight fire with fire! You don't love me, Sauron, you LACK me. You are jealous, you don't have the power of all life and take away goodness. You wish we had no part of it. Therefore, you do not deserve me, you covet me. You are nothing but a disgraceful, lying, cheater! You are a disgrace to my heart, to my soul, and to my undying trust. For thou art trust in you has broken my heart to shame. Begone! Go back into the darkness in which you came from!" Suddenly the ghastly winds of the dead South came and twisted in a hurricane of the evil lord. "COME AND FOLLOW ME! AND TOGETHER WE WILL RULE THE WORLD! JOIN ME! MY—" as soon as he tried to grasp her hand, three arrows drew from the Elvish Valar soldiers, who were watching from behind.

CHAPTER ONE

The Journey of Vera Berlin

Lord Sauron lost his control, who raged with fury. He called for his shadow, and he flew from the dark realm of the battlefield. To the woodlands where the three Elves and Empress Vera, rode on their horses to reach safety. "NOOOOOOOO!" said Sauron, furiously. "I'M NOT FINISHED WITH YOU YET! And when I'm through with you—you'll be my eternal generation as well as my queen. Ahh! Why does this always happen to me? Every time I try to finish my last words, she's already disappeared!" As soon as her parents returned to the fortress, Vera and the Elves defended the castle. Her parents arrived with a million soldiers who were loyal to the crown and the royal family. Vera remembers a loud and ruckus war reached, as one of the firsts. The last thing Vera could do was to encounter the devilish lord on his dragons against him with her beautiful and bold eagles. "This is over, Sauron, I'll finish you tonight, but some other mysterious traveler will end your days on an incredible journey in the future." She predicted, as she stuck a flaming sword through his cold heart. She sent his figure body to the ashes and cast his evil spirit in the Eye of Mordor. "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME!" he yelled. "I'LL GET YOU ONE DAY, YOU'LL SEE!" She doubted that for a moment, in which her flaming shock casted herself far years into the future.

Many, many years off…still no sign of Sauron. Galadriel lived long, maybe longer than four of the generations old. Old Lord Éarendel died, leaving Alzander, in rule of Middle Earth. Also, by leaving his only daughter in the hands of her mother. Lady Vera went to live in the Elvish land of Riverendel. She met Lord Elron and the wise, old Wizard, Gandalf the Grey. Vera was up for adventure, even much after the first fall of Sauron, and the next with the ring of power, the loss of the ring of power, and the attack at Arabore, Dale. Vera longed for adventure and her own life experience, and Alzander allowed his daughter to find her heart's desire and wise spouse love with compassion, and great truth within his heart. Vera recovered, left Riverendel, and traveled to a distant land called Lake Town. From there were beautiful houses over a lake and this was way before the poor days of Lake Town and around the time of Bard the Bowman. Vera hid her ears behind her long brown hair and tried to fit in Lincoln green clothes. She traveled wearily to Lake Town where a young man named Bard, lived in one of the beautiful houses. Bard was descended from the Great Archer of Dale who shot the dragon once.

"Hullo there, Miss, you seem to be a bit tired." said Bard, approaching her. "Would you care to stay here at my house for the night?" She nodded, "Very kind of you, Sir. Thank you, I hope I'm not intruding?" she replied, placing her pack by the door. "What a very beautiful and interesting town you are living in, Mister—"

"Bard," said the kind man, "Everyone knows me by the name called Bard." She smiled and sat down, "Bard? Is that all?" she asked, curiously. "Are you Prince or Landlord of an Inn? Is there some other part of your name, Mister Bard?" He shook his head, "Miss, I would prefer one another as friends, you can call me Bard. Bard the Bowman, I am also a fisherman. I was descended from the great archer who shot the dragon, Smaug in Arabore, Dale, years ago." He replied, sharing his meal with her. "So, tell me, who are you and what is a woman like you doing here in these parts? Traveling alone when there are orcs and trolls about in the wilderness with spiders?"

She thought for a moment. "Well, actually, I didn't know there were such creatures of Spiders, Orcs or Trolls. I came from three generations under my grandfather, Earendel, the creator of Middle Earth. I once had a friend, but he assumed to try to trick me into a false marriage to gain power and pain. To destroy every healthy and beautiful living thing on our precious domain. I am a Valar woman, daughter of the great Lady Galadriel, an Elvish woman of the light. That old nasty serpent's name was Sauron." Bard looked up in awe and was surprised, "You mean to tell me you are the granddaughter of Earendel? The sub-creator, along with the angelic spirits of Valar and Minar?" He replied, surprised, and checked to see if anyone was listening. "What happened between you and the dark lord, that you never heard of the fall of Dale? Do you even know of the ring of power that Sauron created and lost?" She stood at a long moment at Bard, as he sat down.

"No, Bard, I have not. For when I figured Sauron out, he became angry and tried to deceive me back. I refused to give him my powers and inheritance. And I rode with my eagles and he rode on his dragons, as I whipped him out of the sky. I landed farther into the future, recently cared by my mother and her friends in Riverendel. And now I'm on a new adventure to find my future spouse, my father intends me to find love, and settle down in a truthful understanding through a Man. Honestly, I know not where to begin, but I may begin here. My name is Veralina Earendel, Vera Valar was what they used to call me." She replied. "I have not much to give you, Bard, but I am very thankful for your kindness and hospitality. May I rest for the night? And if you don't mind some company, I'd like to stay around for a while and get to know you around here. I have not chosen a direct location to where I must be going. Good night." He smiled, "Not at all, Lake Town isn't very much, but its all that we have. And you are welcome to it." He replied, showing her to her room. "I cannot imagine what a horrible disgrace, Sauron must have treated you all those years. Sleep tight and take care, Miss Vera." Vera closed the door and she rendered herself for bed for the night.

CHAPTER TWO

Sights to see with Bard the Bowman

In the morning, it was a Spring day and the smell of breakfast was around the corner. Bard had made fish and chips, along with some biscuits and butter. "Hungry, are you?" asked the kind fisherman, Bard, as she sat down at the table near the kitchen stove. "I hope you like fish and chips, with fresh, warm biscuits and butter? Because they're the best made of my home cooking in all of Lake Town." She smiled, as he placed the plate in front of her. "Mmm, this looks delicious. I've actually never had such food, like this in all of my life." She replied, gratefully. "This is a new jump for me, for this new fish in such a great pond. I do not know of your culture, nor do I know not where to begin. I can surely see you as my teacher and most honorable companion." As he cheerfully took a plate and turned off his stove, filling up his plate with cooked fish, chips and buttered biscuits.

He said in reply, "Honorable? Well, you are a very peculiar and a passionate lady." Said he. "I am very happy to accept you in part of my good company. Its been lonely here in Lake Town and since my family moved on, I've never felt so lonely. Now that you're here to brighten up my days. I thank thee for your companionship, as well as your first visit to my homeland. You are very welcome to move here if you'd like. I can show you how 'we' get around in our town, as well as how 'we' make a living in order to survive all the seasons. Especially the cold winters and sickness through the harsh weather. We work together through the ups and downs of our hard work and warm-pleasant lives." They ate together and then they helped one another clean up from the morning meal. Bard was very excited, that he had come across a Legendary heir of the Valar. He wasn't a foolish or a jealous Man, but he was particularly curious to show her around as to accept her as a new town member of the Lake Town community.

"So…what would one do in the city of the Lakes, here, to support a living to survive the seasons and to stay healthily alive?" asked she, following him to the docks. "I assume you have something to do with these wooden boats and oars, especially these large sticks that are threaded with lines and hooks attached to them." He smiled, and he took the fishing pole from her examination of her hands. "Aye, you seem to be catching on fast, Miss Vera." He replied, guiding her to the boat. "Step into here, like so, and grab the nets. The bagged roped item by your feet. Do sit down and I will start the day with a fishing lesson." She listened cautiously to his tutoring words and sat down with the net over her lap. Bard stood into the boat, and started to bring two fishing poles, and his fishing gear onto the rowboat. Now he and Vera were ready to go out on open water, to get some fishing done together. Vera waited until they reached a certain spot from the clearing. He sat down and hooked an earthworm onto the fishing hook for bait, to capture the fish. Vera, in turn, had no disgust for the death of a little earthworm, and repeated the same demonstration of how to hook a worm and cast the line, still holding onto the pole. And… they waited.

"So, what happens now?" asked Vera, curiously. Bard told her she should wait quietly until the worm is jerked by the line and reeled in by the fishing pole. Bard would demonstrate to reel in the line and successfully show Vera how to catch a fish. There they waited for an hour, and Vera seemed to become a little annoyed. Then she listened and looked over the water. "I feel something, Bard." Said Vera, listening to the ripples vibrate from the water. "Its vibrating in the ripples of the water. Could it be a fish, perhaps?" Bard looked over the boat along with her and smiled. Surprised as they both were, the lines hooked a fish for each fisher and successfully helped one another catch the fish. "Good job, Miss Vera, you are an excellent beginner at fishing." He replied, joyfully placing the two fish into the nets. "Shall we try again?" She smiled, "That wasn't very fun waiting for an hour. But I see now, that if we waited enough, the right time that the fishes could find the proper moment to have a fine breakfast, just the same as we did." He laughed, and she laughed with him and recast out again for another bite.

After a morning of fishing, Bard's company with Vera made his lonely life change in a better condition and his working days shine with delight. Vera was a very happy and hard worker, and she shared her joy with her new friend, Bard the Fisherman, in Lake Town. Getting back up from the boat back at the docks, some of the townswomen came up by Bard to buy fresh fish for their daily shopping tours. "Hullo, Master Bard, good afternoon to you. Having any luck with the fishing, today?" asked a middle-aged woman, choosing some fish to buy. "Aye say, you got some rare bites with you. Say, who's the pretty lady you have there?" Bard looked over to Vera and smiled. "Aye, she's a new friend of mine. She came just last night wondering wearily as a traveler. She's a beginner fisherwoman and a good companion. She may look into moving here someday once she's made a fine living of her own." Replied Bard, accepting the payment from the woman. "Ah, Mrs. Patterson, that's a little more than what I'd usually expect. Are you sure that's how much you suspect its worth?"

"Aye, you did a better catch today than last time, my good man. And you've found quite a 'rare' catch today, indeed (hint, hint)." She replied, winking and smiling at Vera. "Here for you and the pretty lady, welcome to Lake Town, Missy. And if there's anything you like to know or do. Jest let me know, dearie. I'll be on my way, or the Mister Patterson shall hear the last of me! Good Afternoon and good day." A few more ladies came 'round for their fresh fish shopping, and so it succeeded with meeting Vera with cheerful smiles and much amounts of generous donations to fill the happy home of Vera and Bard as two solemn friendship between to two. Besides fishing and weaving nets, Bard took Vera into town to pay taxes to the leader of the Town. This always seemed to trouble Bard, but he stuck up his respect and didn't complain since he had taxed too much that wasn't the regular amount due. You see, the town's leader and his son were always partying away with their cash, forcefully given by the people. Bard intended not to spoil his good, well-earned money for such foolishness put to a waste of time.

On this day, the young man, the son of the Leader made an interesting 'eye contact' with Bard's acquaintance, Miss Vera Valar. "Good Afternoon, Mister Bard," said the young man, Jacob Victor, and slightly led his eyes to the beautiful young woman beside Bard. "Aye, you brought taxes as accounted for. I see? Who's the pretty lady? I never seen her before here in Lake Town." Bard sighed, worriedly, he had a strong relationship forming for Vera, and he wouldn't dare to see Jacob cause any trouble ahead of the road. "Ah, well, she's one of my kinswomen. She is a traveler and she came in from last night. And now we were just on our way to pay taxes. There, its all accounted for, and we shall be on our way." Red-haired Jacob was amused to see Bard leave so early, "Going so soon, Mister Bard, might I have a look see?" replied the Master, the father of Jacob. "Why don't you and your kinswoman come and have dinner tonight from her long travels. She is new here, I assume, and she should have a proper banquet for her arrival. She is new here and we ought to get to know her." Bard was stammering with his words, "No, no need…I mean, we were just here to have to pay taxes. Nothing more and nothing less. But thank you anyway." said Bard, disturbed, and took Vera's hand. "Come along, Vera, we must go home and prepare supper for ourselves. Good Afternoon." Vera smiles politely and knew Bard didn't hesitate to accept the invitation, because she already knew what he was thinking. As a Valar woman, she can predict the future. But she couldn't seem to see why they couldn't just come and try to negotiate something about the taxes or just to stay a while. Yet, she wasn't aware of the actions against her kind woman nature against the fall of temptation of Men in jealous reactions. Bard, however, was a bit silent around the preparation of supper, and he sighed worriedly as she served her own making of warm biscuits and soft butter. "Why are you quiet tonight, Bard? Is something bothering you?" asked Vera, sympathetically. "If you want a good friend to share your thoughts and secrets with, who wouldn't share gossip about the neighborhood. That's me, I'm always here for you."

"Well…its just that, Jacob and I do not get along. He's a very foolish, young man, and a lying cheat. I am not blaming him so, there because I have been around here longer than you. I know you may know the future, but I am experienced to live in Lake Town." He replied, sighing. "I have only known you for a day, and I have formed my heart in full relationship for you. There is something you must know to where all the tax money goes. The money was supposed to be for the well-being and raising money to support the town or the master's family. But its been a poor season for most of us, even if some of us have rich inheritance. It is wasted by the father and his son for their drinking habits and terrible foolishness of parties for themselves. Which feeds us out of house and home, if they cannot pay taxes on that day, then they must be put to prison, to be in a room with chains. If they even cannot pay, they shall rot and die there." Vera was horrified, "That's awful." She replied, cupping her hands over her mouth. "Why would they do such a thing? I hope that never happens, to you. I would do anything to keep you happy and well, Bard, you are my most trusted friend."

CHAPTER THREE

The good man's confession

"Look, Vera, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. And my adult life has only begun, and I'm not in love with you yet, but I care very much about you. I wouldn't want anyone to try to hurt you, I assume that Jacob is half as dumb and cruel, with women as the dark lord was with you. I do not want to let go of your hand and let evil harms way take you away from my sight." Bard replied, sweetly, as some of his tears shed from his face. "I love you enough to teach you and protect you, and you may love and teach me as well. And as powerful as you are, that must be kept wisely from any foolish Man, Elf, Dwarves, even Orcs, evil creatures that have anything to do with the dark lord, Sauron. I have only had you for one day, will you please not leave me, Vera?" Vera started to cry her own tears and rubbed his cheek. Soothing the sympathetic Man, she gave him affectionate feeling, she never thought she would ever show action to in a good reaction to. "Oh yes, Bard, do not cry. You see, I may love my mother and her friends, and get to know your townspeople, but forever in my heart I am devoted to your nobility. You are very loyal and affectionate to me. I'd never want to leave your side. You are a wonderful, beautiful, and inspiring man. I couldn't leave you, since you are all that I may have…at least for now. You know in your heart I have a deep regard for you as well."

That evening, the affection started to calm down from the crying. Bard and Vera finished supper and went to get ready for bed. Vera washed her face and learned a new technique with a needle and thread. To sew and make clothes and coats, and someday she ought to learn what the women do around the town. If she were going to be apart of Lake Town's society, she ought to know what the townswomen do to provide for themselves and for their families. Vera woke up early in the morning and wore her red velvet dress and put her hair in a bun. It was easier to get around without a dangling long hair caught in a hook or the nets. Spring was beginning to feel warmer and people were beginning to feel better at work than the harsh winter months. Vera went into the kitchen and started making breakfast, she created a new sweet dish called 'cake' for the meal. She didn't know what it was, exactly, but she served it anyway.

"Something smells good in here, did you make breakfast all by yourself?" asked Bard, amused. Vera smiled, "Ah, yes. I had a very good teacher, as well as just watching you. I catch on fast." She replied, serving him. "You served me the couple of the last few times, and now I want to return the favor. You have been very kind and I want to share my gratefulness, as well as to make sure you are healthy." Bard thought to himself, it was a pleasant thought for a while. "Say, do you remember Mrs. Patterson, yesterday?" asked Bard, finished eating. "Why don't I take you to Mrs. Patterson's house, to speak with for an hour and see what you may learn as a townswoman like her. She has three daughters, and you may like to get to know around what our town does to support one another." Vera takes his plate and washes their dishes, and as fast as she could, which was no problem at all, she served her mysterious dish for dessert. "Ooh, what's this?" asked Bard, amazed. She paused for a moment, and she replied, "I have no idea. I know it isn't poisonous or tastes bad. But maybe you can decide what to make of it." She said, "Why yes, I can agree. I am curious, but what about you? You didn't seem to be happy when we met up with Master Jacob."

"My goodness, Vera, you seemed to have made something delicious. You don't know what this is?" asked Bard, laughing joyfully. "Why, its cake. A sweet little food that usually is served after the meal, and it isn't very common for most people here in our town. Perhaps you shall teach yourself to make it again, its very delicious." Vera smiled, and she hesitated to serve more, "No, no, that's quite alright. Thank you, Vera. But I'm full." He replied, astonished. "You are a very good listener and you cooperate well with me and our lessons about everyday life. I insist that you shall visit Mrs. Patterson when I'm out fishing, I will be fine. I'll be back anyway, and you deserve the break. Besides, you could learn a lot from Mrs. Patterson, she's used to all those sorts of things." Vera smiles and places her hand on his hand. Vera felt warmth by the touch of his hand, and he placed his warm lips onto her hand, kissing it. With a blushing smile of shyness, Vera slowly takes her hand away and finishes the dishes.

One the way out, Bard was smiling of the beautiful warm sun on the two of them, until Jacob showed up near his house. "Greetings, Mister Bard, wonderful morning is it?" greeted Jacob, as the two started walking up. "Pray tell, who may I ask is the kinswoman you are in company of?" Before Vera could speak, Bard answered, "We were just leaving, Master Jacob. We don't want any trouble. It's a new day and we were just going to visit Mrs. Patterson." He replied, avoiding Vera around Jacob.

"Leaving?" asked Jacob, "Why don't you let the pretty lady speak for herself? Why must you leave in such a hurry, its Spring now. You never stay around to chat or stay awhile." Bard half smiled, keeping Vera next to him. "Exactly why, Master Jacob. We work so many hours of the day trying to keep us and this town afloat, that we have no time to sit and chat with others unless we can take the day off." He replied, sternly. "Good Morning, Master Jacob. We can talk—"

"Good Morning, Master Jacob," replied Vera, kindly. "Excuse me, Bard hasn't been well yesterday and so he's got a busy mind ahead of him, of where we need to go. My name is Vera Valar, and I'm from the Elvish land of Riverendel. I was traveling through, and my mother lives there. I visited her, and then came to stay with my beloved…cousin…Bard."

CHAPTER FOUR

The Visit at Mrs. Patterson's house

"Eh? You're from Riverendel, isn't that where Elves live?" asked Jacob, interested in following them. Vera nodded, "Aye, it tis. But my mother and many men can live or take Holidays there in the summer. Most retire there, and some visit like I did." Replied Vera, feeling unsure. "My mother was born and raised an elf…and my father was a man, descended from…er…Dale, I suppose. Therefore, that would make Bard and I first cousins. Some people are born of one race and some are born of two, there's nothing wrong with that. I suppose there's much to be done. Goodbye, Master Jacob, maybe we shall have this conversation another time." Jacob stopped Bard and Vera at an angle, "Do accept an invitation at my family's banquet, it's a nice thing to do to new peoples." said Jacob, handing her an envelope. "I know you may not have the best clothes, but wear something that is fine and neat. That shines bright. Good day and I might see you later. I respectfully request that you do come." Bard hesitated to move Vera, and left Jacob alone around the corner. "I suppose we shall never avoid him, as so you try. I assume not to make a fuss or a fight, so I'll just have to accept anyway." Said Vera, to Bard. "Don't worry, Bard, I won't be alone. You can come with me."

"Oh, and I suppose since this is a request, that he's really trying to get to the end of my limbs. He's not just making me sick, but he's trying to deceive me as to deceive you. Lie to you about me being an absurd man and don't always know what I'm taking about. Pay no attention to see fit that whatever excuses he says about me, aren't true. Foolish men's words seem kind but aren't at all kind or sweet. If you know what I mean, you may have already had that spoken before with Sauron. Take my advice, because I love you. Be careful." He replied, coming to Mrs. Patterson's house. "A Valar such as you might be able to read minds or sense evil intentions, that will try to bind around your true heart. I'll promise to be true to my heart to you, but I believe in his heart he demands that; I will perish, and he will always win. He's just jealous, over what? We're just friends." Bard felt very insecure and held Vera's little white hands to his warm, rosy cheeks. "Don't let him fool you again, Vera, and I won't lose you either. But enough of that, you have a good time. Come with me, I'll properly introduce you."

Inside Mrs. Patterson's house, she wasn't very old or very poor. Her husband was one of the wealthiest Man, in town under the Master. Under Mr. Patterson, is Bard the Bowman, he is the heir under a Great Lord, who shot the dragon in Dale. Mrs. Patterson would be old enough to be Bard or Vera's mother, she was very tidy and sophisticated. She was a mother of four daughters and one son, Alfred. Mrs. Patterson lives wealthy, but she prefers to help the poor and the simple life. She's a very cheeky and kind woman, very upright, and very favored by Bard, himself. They can both agree that Jacob and the Master are too hasty and horrible leaders of the town, but no one can complain. "Hullo, Master Bard, what a pleasant surprise." Said Mrs. Patterson, cheerfully. "I see you have brought your lady friend again, what's the pleasure of your visit today?" Bard told her about Vera's stay, she's very good at making bread, biscuits, cake, and cooking fish. Fishing and mending at a needle and thread. But if she ought to move here, some townswoman ought to take the time to teach her around Lake Town to be one of their women.

"Aye, I see. You want me to bring her up as a woman of our town. No payment needed. We are all friends, aren't we?" she replied, taking her hands. "She is a beautiful and elegant lady. I can tell she's already learned a few lessons from you to get around. Well, the party of the arrogant hosts will be having a big bash and it would be wonderful is she could help me prepare for the feast, we won't take long. I can assure you she's in good hands. I'll keep an eye out for Jacob and Alfred. You take care of yourself now. Good Morning to you." Bard left and he went out to the docks to be with the fishes. "So, what be your name dearie, again?" asked Mrs. Patterson, sweetly. "No…wait…let me guess, you are Vera Valar…are you not?" Vera was puzzled, but smiled, "Aye, how did you remember that so quickly." Said Vera, simply. "So, you already know whatever Bard told you, eh? Its just so nice to find and trust someone so dear to Bard, that I can re-adapt to Lake Town. My there's so much to do and so much to look out for. Why do Bard and Jacob never get along?"

"You needn't worry about that, Miss Valar. What you need to know is how to become a woman of our town and serve your best you can do to raise money, raise yourself up and someday…I see the way Master Bard treats you with care. Do you suppose its not for just friendship, I know this because young men are like this. In the Spring, the young ladies and young men court for love or often sold out for wealth or support of the family, at any case, in Spring its about marriage and courting. The men are growing up as well as the ladies. My husband and I have 4 ladies and a son, and we are intending to make sure our children find love and marry into beloved, good welfare, and sturdy homes. You ought to know why Jacob was very attracted to you, Miss Valar. I do know that the boys often don't get along, but they get over it. But with Jacob its different, he's so spoiled and doesn't even know how to fight with a battle ax. He's as charming as a prince, but as stubborn as a mule." She continued to say as they sat down. "My daughters are not as wise as me, nor do they watch out for foolish rich men, who are not as supportive and generous as I am today. But its nice to have such a sweet and wise lady such as you, Miss Valar, and in no time at all you shall be ready for the future and maybe even to fend and save Bard from his troubles with Jacob…or whatever your destiny calls you to do."

Vera learned to sew, cook, weave nets and baskets. To knit, to clean and keep the house tidy as a woman should. She spun wool around a spool from a spinning wheel and to make stitches in clothes. Prepare meals and beds for the night or day. She was very content after that, she even listened to some beautiful music she never heard before. Mrs. Patterson was pleased with her student's work and play, that she rewarded her with a money pouch, three beautiful dresses, and a necklace. "Miss Valar, there will be a ball tonight, I assume you and Bard are going. And I wanted you to have these, these are gifts from me. My daughters never had the time with me like this and I'm quite thankful. You are the most beautiful, intelligent, and precious lady I have ever met. And you deserve to be one of us, those of us who are wise and take our time, that is. Bard is a very happy and wonderful man, and I believe he's warmed by your light that shines in his heart, even if it has been over one day." She replied, sweetly. "You keep them, sweetie, and have a good day. And thank you for your help. Bard should be here soon, I suppose, do come again when you get the chance. I too enjoy your company."

"Mrs. Patterson, you remind me of my mother. My mother was a queen, and we always were together in my childhood. I was brought up with a royal family, I had a courtship once, but the man I loved too much deceived me…I learned from my mother what to expect and what not to expect. And I lost my parents from my past because of that foolish, good for nothing pest. He never changed when I came to be here, and Bard has been a kind, generous, sweet-hearted man. He was always there for me, and who would allow each other to share thoughts and confessions. Would it be too early for me to love Bard and let go of my strange past?" said Vera, swelling up with tears.

"I fear that Jacob will cause a fuss or trouble and blame it on Bard for the sake of me. Jacob could be jealous of my beauty, and I am ashamed if that was all he desired. My mother is a busy woman now, but she lives not far from Lake Town. She's light and beautiful, but my father doesn't seat at her side anymore. I wish I could share the truth with you, Mrs. Patterson, but it may be too early to share my past with anyone yet. I'm struggling, you see, even if you do not. I know I can count on you and Bard to nurture me as I do in turn for you. It so happens that there are some people in this world who fall to disgrace from the dark lord, and many who are weak or poor; rich or strong, who may or may not be as kind as we are." Vera started to cry harder, and her face began to swell up. She took her handkerchief and calmed herself to recuperate. "There, there, sweetheart. Its alright," she said, comforting her. "Calm down, you know I'll always be around to talk, with you if you want. Like Bard, I dare not share or gossip to the whole neighborhood about your secrets. I want to help you, honest, believe me, darling, I've been through this too. That's why we can help one another, and I would advise you to wait at least a week, that's 7 days. Let you both share the evening at rest."

Bard came up to the house and knocked on the door. Vera opened it, "Hullo Bard, catch anything?" said Vera, cheerfully. "Are you alright?" Bard smiled, "Yes, I'm quite alright. You must have had much fun today, even most people don't enjoy work, but you seem to make everything a little easier here." said Bard, as she came out. "Don't worry, Mrs. Patterson, we won't be late for the crash party at blasted Jacob's birthday ball. I would hope he wouldn't be such a hog like his father." The three of them laughed, and then whispered to one another. And from that moment forward, Vera placed her new things into her closet, at their house. But then Vera came out and started to clean around the house. "I never met a woman like you in all my life, Vera, you make me the happiest man alive. I never had anyone clean up my house or even served me supper before. Its not everyday you meet a cheerful, cleaning, Valar lady as your companion in my family." He replied. "That's enough, really, Vera. You have impressed me enough. Take the night off. We deserve it."

CHAPTER FIVE

An unfortunate, but pleasant evening

As the skies began to grow very grey, the stars and the moon shown over the mountains in the beautiful landscape. The townspeople were gathering for their celebration of Spring, and the richer folk of all ages gathered at the Lake Town Hall's party. There will be a banquet and dancing, even if Mrs. Patterson and Bard never really enjoyed playing or feast with the foolish folks. It was a peculiar, but spectacular night of the evening. At least those who didn't like it, would at least act like they were having a marvelous time. Vera was cleaned and dressed in a beautiful white and green dress, her hair was placed into a bun, and she wore her beautiful gifts from the generosity of Mrs. Patterson. Her daughters never had time for their mother's special times, they'd rather be a nuisance just like Alfred, Jacob, and their classy father, Mr. Patterson, himself. "Do you think I overdid it?" asked Vera, as she stood around the living room near Bard. "Take a look see, you have been here longer than me, you know all the women in this town. Do tell me?" Bard looked and slowly approached her, he smiled saying, "Turn around slowly, and let me look at you." He replied, as she slowly did. "There. You did beautifully, don't change a thing."

Vera smiled and looked towards him. She was charmed by his new and beautiful brown, but plain party suit. (which wasn't too detailed) She smiled and looked down at his hands. She started to raise her hand slowly to his, and he raised his hands to hers. Interesting, that is, she never experienced that before. He brought up gently both of his hands and holding hers, he placed a warm kiss on the top of her right hand. "Oh? Is that normal?" she replied, astonished. "I've never seen you do that to me, is it a normal gentry's thing to the ladies of the town?" He slowly nodded, "Well…besides it being a custom, a tradition as men who greet or say hullo to women. I…just…thought, it would do you good." said Bard, blushing and looking down, shyly. "Well, we should be going to a 'folly-bash' and don't want to be late, or Jacob will have a fuss! Shall we?" Vera laughed, and held onto his hand, then Vera and Bard walked out into the moonlight to the party at the Town Hall.

"Good evening, everybody!" announced the jolly, frisky leader, The Master. "While the villagers were dancing up a gig outside, of the Spring festival, I'd like to pay a special respect to our newest member of the town, Miss Valar. And…her guardian companion tonight…Everyone knows Master Bard, I assume. Everyone welcome and have fun in our festive holiday, that means you too, Mrs. P."

"Its Mrs. Patterson, to you, Master." she said, annoyed. "Not Mrs. P." Mrs. Patterson, the older ones call her, Jane Patterson, who was formally The Master's younger sister. She wasn't in love with her former husband, rather she had to live with a mean-old geezer. Well, he wasn't always that stubborn, he was wealthy, sweet, and loyal to his wife. But at times he was always spending his pounds of such junky rubbish. But at least she still had her children, barely, and her household treasures. "Patterson is such a long name, ain't it, mummy?" asked 13-year-old Joyce Ann Patterson, one of the youngest daughters. "Why can't you just except Mrs. P, mummy?" Jane Patterson sighed and gave her daughter a long look that shut up the child and ignored her as well. Anyways, back to the party.

"Good evening, Miss Valar," greeted Jacob, excitedly. His navy-blue suit made with satin and silk, with golden buttons and red trim down his shirt. His red hair was placed in a curly ponytail and a red ribbon. "You having a swell night, are you now? What do you think of my father's party?" Vera startled looked all around, beautiful decorations and an interesting feast at the table. "Uh, its very…marvelous, Jacob. I've never seen anything so…beautiful, a party quite like this…eh…before. I thought you said it was your birthday party?" asked Vera. "Noted, that if Bard cannot be here and enjoy the party with us, then I'll be leaving with him on his own time. Not to tolerate on an invitation, but I trust Bard. And I wouldn't want to come to a party without him, he's like a beloved brother of mine. I was an only child, and I never had siblings like him." Jacob, "Aye, Miss Valar, you were an only child?" asked Jacob, pitifully, taking her hand. "That's awful, you do realize you aren't the only one. I'm an only child myself, and the lonely ones must stick together. My…what soft hands, if it would be alright to have the first dance with you, Miss Valar, for the birthday party's ball?" Vera looked puzzled, "I do not know how to dance, Master Jacob, I'm sorry to say." Said Vera, trembling. "I do not know where to begin or someone to show me how. Where does a lady know how to start?"

"I will show you, Miss Valar," said Jacob, gently taking her hands. "Follow my lead, and I will take my time to guide you." Vera smiled, sheepishly and held onto the swift, light dancer of Master Jacob. Which wasn't so bad, after all. Jacob had a nice, soft, but firm grip and kept her into place. She danced so well she accepted another dance. "I'm surprised that you wouldn't ask her to dance, Master Bard." Replied Jane Patterson, nudging him. "I dare say, every time you see her with Jacob, your mind boils and you hide your feelings. I would say the same, although I think your just jealous."

"Its only been two days, Mrs. Patterson," said Bard, crossing his arms. "Besides, Vera seems to be having fun, but she'll bore out in a while."

Mrs. Patterson laughed, "Well, if you're not jealous, then I dare you take the third dance before Jacob tires out her little bones." She replied. "She doesn't deserve to be with my nephew or son. I favor you most of all. Besides she wasn't born under tradition, and she can choose her own lover. But I have a feeling that neither men will love her evenly as much as you do. They can court, they will play, parties and drinking. But Vera knows you better and she will hate them as much as I do. There's something special about that woman, and I think its up to us to watch over her carefully and make sure no one finds out. I have a feeling she didn't come here on purpose…get to know her more, and maybe she'll trust us enough to share her personal troubles so that we might help her." Bard frowned and stared at the party, then after the second round, Vera was out of breath, but smiling. "Whew, they are jumpy fellows, I'll say," she said, out of breath. "They can just dance, and dance and dance, but how do they ever get tired? What makes them go and never want to stop? I think we should eat before we have another dance."

"I agree with you there, Miss Valar," said Joyce, out of breath. "These boys tucker me out so much, I can't stand it!" Joyce was a peculiar girl, even though her older sisters and older brother are not beloved by their mother. Joyce is the only child that mostly respects her mother and her elders, she's not the same as the other wealthy ladies. And I understand if you began to get to know her, Joyce, acts like and reacts like Miss Valar. (Joyce was the first version of Matilda, keep in mind) After that evening of food and drink, as wine and beer were served, it was time for another dance, but Vera decided to sit out this one. "No thank you, Jacob, I am very tired from all of that spinning." said Vera. "Maybe some other time, yes. Oh boy!" Jane Patterson gave him the 'eye-of-no' sort of look and then he left her alone. "Jeepers, he's a wild one." Said Jane Patterson, "He's such a ridiculous boy, and ever since his mother died and couldn't keep him afloat, I tiredly took the boy and raised him to become a gentleman, but he still drives me crazy. Not you too." She replied, as Bard stood beside Vera. "Take a break, darling, don't let him boss you around even if people think you are a citizen. You are not under our The Master's rule. Not even my nephew's rule."

CHAPTER SIX

Dance under the stars and within the waters

Vera watched as the ball continued, but then Vera grew tired. "Bard, shall we say to escape from the tired party? I'm weary myself." Said Vera, sighing as she looked up to him. "If you don't mind by leaving." Bard smiled and was finally relieved to leave this ridiculous party. Vera yawned and she entered the house. Bard was ready for bed himself and decided to change back into his plain clothes again. "Good night, Vera," said Bard, as all was quiet. "I hope you will sleep well. Tomorrow we shall go fishing again and it'll be like every normal day." Vera giggles, "Well, goodnight Bard, I'm not tired that much." Said Vera, thinking brightly. "You may go to your room for the night, I'll stay up for just a little while longer." Bard was worried because normally he wouldn't go to bed unless she was safely into her chambers in the night. To secure her from Jacob or any dangers of the night. But you see, Vera already knew the worries of the world, and everything that lived, breathed, and swam within Middle Earth. Vera was going to the lake to do something very spectacular and not normal to the creatures of Middle Earth.

"How much loner would you stay up for? I'm worried something will happen to you, if you are not in bed before I am." He replied, frowning. "I can't have Jacob or the creatures after you tonight." Vera smiled, as if she wasn't afraid of anything. "Well, then, Master Bard, would you like to stay up with me just a little longer?" asked Vera, getting ready. "A nice moonlight walk, just the two of us?" Bard looked outside, sheepishly. "Well, there are guards out, tonight. Maybe we should stay here, lest we don't get caught." said Bard, worriedly. "Where would you be going in such as this hour?" Vera smiled, "Do you not trust your cousin, Bard?" asked Vera, bringing his coat to him. "Trust me, you won't be needing a fishing pole where we are going. I would possibly call out for a boat, a net, and some barrels."

Bard was confused, "What? Why would we need those things on a moonlight walk?" he asked, curiously. "Vera?" She just smiled and said sweetly, "Do you trust me?" said Vera, as she draped her coat on. "Shall I help you put that coat on, or are you 'man enough' to do it yourself? Come, we haven't a moment to waste. I want to show you what a Valar can do, if we are going to work together, I want to show you what I can do to help out." Bard cautiously placed on his coat, and slowly began to trust Vera. He assembled the boat and brought their poles and nets. "Where are we going at this time of night?" asked Bard, worried, as he got into the boat. "The guards are about the village and we might get caught." Vera leads them both out on the water, and glides across the waters to the mainland. Not too far away from Lake Town, Bard and Vera were making their way to the shores. Vera enclosed the boat to the shore, and she stepped to the sand.

"You have helped me for two days and have been like a brother to me. I sense that you care very much for me and would worry someone this powerful would get into the wrong hands." She said, softly. "Bard, you have done so much for me, that I have no where else to go. And I wish to spend my life with you. Rain or shine, day or night, or even loneliness or families around you. Truth is, my father died leaving me farther into the future, he betrothed me to the heir of the archer who shot the dragon. He betrothed me to you. I love you, but it may not be enough yet to marry you, yet. So, let me show you of what I can do to help you, which will also make our lives less distressful and more pleasant." Vera walked into the water and raised the sides of the lake's water into two separate walls of liquid water. The sand was very dry, and the fish swam around in the water in reach of Bard's grasp. Bard shocked, but hesitated to calm down and laugh with joy, smiled and reached for all the fish he could carry in his nets. "How can you do that?" asked Bard, excitedly.

"Well, my grandfather was the sub-creator of Middle Earth in the year 1000, and my father descended from many creators from 2799 to 2899, and when Sauron tested and fooled my parents at the shadow realm, he tried to fool our relationship not for love, not for children, but for the destruction for all that was good and light. The only children he could ever imagine was out of pain, fear, and desire. Which are orcs, trolls, goblins, Nazgul, and dragons. But I wouldn't dare bare him an orc child or an evil spirited child, but no. I banished him from the High Realm, but then he punched me out of the sky and in the timeless future. I was found by the Rivendell elves and my mother Lady Galadriel." She explained. "My father betrothed me to a Man, trusted with the skill as a young fisherman and bowman, descended from the bowman who shot Smaug, the dragon. He predicted that you would become the new king of Dale, and in his favor. You shall be my future husband and as your queen…I shall be the guardian of Spring and mother of the new living." Bard was silent and Vera stopped for a moment to catch her breath. "But I lost my father, and Sauron is on the brink, he lost some substance called the 'Ring of Power' and now…I know not what to do next." She replied. "I look to you, because you may be the only Man I come to."

CHAPTER SEVEN

The return to Lake Town

Vera came back onto the shore and brought the nets with rare and normal fish into the boat, and by the sun began to rise, Bard and Vera just came home. "That was an extraordinary event, thanks for the walk." Said Bard, tiredly. "I am quite tired today, from the excuses of partying last night, I may have to get some sleep." Vera smiled and she warmed some warm milk for him to drink. "There, Bard, you take a rest and I'll see to it to tell people if they pass by that you were too tired from the party last night, that you were not feeling well." She replied. "And I decided to take good care of you, instead of a workday." In the Spring's beginning, Vera and Bard have been working together as a team to support one another. Vera has observed the human lifestyle, and in a place, it wasn't as friendly in most places. Young couples were courting and getting married, Mrs. Patterson was included in some of the weddings for her two oldest daughters. When her youngest daughter, Joyce became lonely, she often came to work with Lady Vera, and have a much beautiful and nicer sister to care and make do. One day, Master Jacob came to call upon the house of Bard, to court Vera. "With any reason to court her, she's a mysterious lady and I for one would like to get to know her. She isn't his woman and think of all the beautiful babies we could have." He thought to himself. "She would make a fine Mistress of mine, and she wouldn't have to live in that old shack Mister Bard has, its better than living as a poor housed peasant."

"Hullo, is anyone home?" asked Jacob, knocking on the door. No one seemed to answer. "That's odd, shouldn't there be anyone home?" Jacob searched the front porch and the ground level under the house, but still no sign of Bard or Vera. Jacob saw that Vera was talking and giggling about with Mistress Joyce Patterson, they must have been coming back from the city. Joyce went on home, and Vera was on her way to the house. Vera didn't close the door, and she busied on as she was. Jacob leaned on the side of the archway. "Hullo, Miss Valar, how is your afternoon?" asked Jacob, allowing himself to come in. Vera startled looked around, as Jacob closed the door. "Um, yes, fine thank you. What brings you to the house of Bard, my dear cousin?" asked Vera, worriedly. "Bard is out fishing again, more successful this time, and has made 5 times as more money before he met me." Jacob walked caress over to her, "You know, Vera, I thank you for coming over to my party a week ago. I haven't seen you since then. Does Bard ever work you too hard?" he replied, taking her hand and rubbing it. "Your hands are too delicate for dish washing. You should take a break and come to the Town's celebration. It's a reunion holiday for the town's foundation. I'd love to see you again." Vera smiled, "Thank you, very much Jacob," said Vera, sweetly. "But Bard and I never have time for parties, the villagers are always working day after day, and so there isn't enough room for a holiday. I can see why poor people work so hard to care for one another, and so if the poor die, surely, we might not live. Even the richest people will die, even you. When have you ever served the poor?"

"Uh, when did this subject come up?" he replied, sheepishly. Then he changed the subject by taking a carnation and placing it in her hair. "Do you know what's more beautiful than the rising sun or the rosy carnation?" Vera stopped folding clothes and turned to see him for a moment. "What?" she replied, confused. Jacob rubbed her cheek with his soft thumb. "Your eyes, are like stars twinkling in the midnight sky." He replied, gently. "Your hair is like the soft silks from a cape, or as soft as the trees leaves that fall swiftly from the ground. Your lips are like the pressing of love or a gentle warm feeling from the fire in the hearth. Your hands are as sweet and touching as your heart. You dance like an angel and your voice sounds so calm and delightful, yet any man would love your feeling. Even as much as I. Vera, if you ever get the chance to slip away, please come and find me at the holiday? I'll be all alone that night since Alfred will be with his friends, his sisters have their men, and that little Joyce has her mother again. Will you be my partner at the Spring dance celebration? Don't say no, please?"

"Well, I'll have to talk to Bard, I can't lie to him, its not in my nature." Said Vera, uncomfortably. "Good afternoon, Jacob, and Bard should be home soon. Best you better go before he catches you in here with me."

Jacob left in a jiffy and then Bard came over to the house. "Hullo, Vera, was that Jacob who just past by our house?" asked Bard, curiously. "What did he want now? I hope nothing bad happened between you two." Vera frowned, "Oh, nothing, except that he invited me to another town event. And it had to do with being a dancing partner. He feels that you are keeping me away from him. That you claim me as your woman and that no man can have me." She replied. "But I know you Bard, and I know you wouldn't do such a thing. You are a strong brother of mine and like a cousin, but I think maybe he's just trying to be my friend. He may not always agree with you, or not at all, but I may not only be a friend to Mrs. Patterson or her daughter Joyce, but it seems to me I could even persuade Master Jacob to feed the poor and needy for my sake and the town's sake. Every ruler or mayor cannot rule over a city for himself. Treasure and power are not far greater for that leader, but a true power for a king is compassion. Then same goes for any leader of a town, village, or kingdom. I know because my father was a very trustworthy and kin loving spirit. And someday I hope you turn out to be a good leader, putting others first besides yourself. By setting a good example for the rich."

Bard took Vera's hands and kissed them again, "Those were some very bold words, Vera Valar, you are like the woman of the world. Best fishing hunter and bow woman I know. And you speak like a true queen, but not if you don't choose to be." He replied. "Me? A rich fisherman like me be king? I don't know if I can do that, I'm not that simple. But maybe with your help and guardianship, I could be just fine. You are my best friend, and we've only known each other for two weeks now. And I'm not jealous of Jacob, he may be jealous of me. I'm not keeping you from anyone, but if he found out you were a Valar woman, he could take you as his own and force me to live in the streets and rot to death. I couldn't have you live in that kind of horror, even if he seems nice to you. He's only pretending for affection. I really feel about you, Vera, but its just too…early, I need more time." Vera slowly allows herself to hug Bard, and then she rounds up dinner for him and herself to share. Jacob assembled the celebration, and the people came around for the festival. Bard decided to visit Joyce and Mrs. Patterson. Vera dressed herself in a white and red gown and her hair was placed in a ponytail that covered her ears. She wore her jewelry and decorative crown upon her head, and she wore boots upon her feet. She entered the ballroom party and saw the Master who stood in the presence of Vera Valar.

CHAPTER EIGHT

A Valar's first kiss

At the ball, the Master stood beside Miss Valar and spoke with her. "Are you waiting to be accompanied by Bard, Miss Valar?" asked the Master, curiously. "He seems not to be here tonight. I haven't seen him in plain sight. Unless you're waiting for someone else?" Vera smiled, "I was called earlier this afternoon by an unexpected visitor, and he asked me to be his partner at the ball this evening." Said Vera, politely. "I hope he intends to keep his side of the invitation." The Master was amused, "And whom may I ask is this man you speak of?" asked he. "Not to interrupt on the matter, but I was just curious."

"No hard feelings, Sir," she replied. "I was told this information with a special greeting by a man's heart's desire to see me again. That specific man is your son. Master Jacob."

"Did I hear the most beautiful voice, in all the lands and lakes, call my name?" said Jacob, with a big grin on his face. "I'm glad you could come, Miss Vera, I'm not surprised that Bard didn't come with you." Vera smiled and he took her hands for their first dance, "You look absolutely beautiful tonight, your smile shimmers in the candlelight along with your soft, puckering lips. I'm just dying to kiss them." said Jacob, bringing her to a hidden corner. "You must be weary from dancing. I know someplace quiet where we can rest. Come with me, we shalt take too long, no one shall miss us." Vera smiled, and didn't know this wasn't some resting spot for two friends to enjoy.

He swept her off her feet, and as strong as his arms could carry, he brought her to a small room where torches were lit. There was a velvet bed and a small table where delicious food lay, on silver platters and golden plates. As she observed the bed and didn't know where to begin. "this is a peculiar resting place, have you rested and dinned here before?" said Vera, confused. "Why is it so quiet? What do we do?" Jacob placed Vera onto the chair and took a fork and placed some meat on the forked end. "Now, Miss Valar, we shall sit and dine together," said Jacob, softly. "Calm down and mingle by ourselves. Where no one or no harm can find us." Vera was confused, why would anyone want to harm them? "Um…who will not harm us?" asked Vera, cautiously. "Why has the room become so hot, all of the sudden?" Vera looked around and she saw an interesting glowing spirit prowl around the room. It was light silver that could blend in with its surroundings. It had a long snout, a long arrow-shaped tail, and big claws. He had orange fire eyes, and the black parts of his pupils were in the shape of a familiar shadow man. In other words, Sauron the Dark Lord.

"Now, now, no need to get so upset. Breathe, relax, sit down." Said the cunning Jacob, or so she thought. "Please restrain yourself, dine with me tonight, and let us get to really 'know' one another. I'm just dying to kiss you, Vera Valar. My…DEATH QUEEN! I FINALLY HAVE YOU!" Vera screamed, and she took a flaming torch and showed it to controlled Jacob and the evil spirit, Smaug's shadow. "COME HERE!" he demanded, as she shook the torch, defending herself. "Let me kiss you. You were supposed to be mine! Not even a ring of power could keep me company. I WANT MY DEATH QUEEN! I WANT YOU!" He threw the torch down and grabbed ahold of her hands, trailing her arms with delicious dark kisses. "No, no, you foolish monster!" she cried, as her arms burned with pain. "You don't deserve me! Where's the real Jacob? TELL ME! I'm not AFRAID of you!" Sauron flashed in his beautiful complexion, because a horrifying, beastly, grey-skinned elf.

"He's in the closet, you foolish Valar girl!" said Sauron, about to plant a kiss on her lips. "I'm just dying to kiss you!" Vera smiled, as she knew her kiss would only be powerful, if she had healed a loved one. But since Sauron wasn't loved, it could make him suffer, even better, kill him for good. But it wasn't her destiny to kill him, so she allowed him to suffer. Sauron enforced his lips upon hers, and she smacked his face away. "HOW DARE YOU! BEAST!" she screamed, as she took a sword and pierced his heart. "No longer shall you control a man's mind nor body, threaten the elves or mankind. You shall live to die and go back to the darkness in which you came from! YOU HAVE NO POWER HERE! BEGONE!" With that the spirit man vanished and the dragon as well. Vera, in pain of her arm swelled in bloody stains. She covered her wounds and investigated the closet for Jacob. "Miss Valar? Are you hurt?" he said, trembling. "I heard strange noises, I have seen the dark lord, is he still here?"

"No, Jacob, he isn't," said Vera, trembling. "We are safe now, but what must we tell the party? Your father? What about Bard?"

"This is your choice, Miss Valar. I'm sorry for the way I misbehaved, I was acting so weirdly because I was jealous of Bard, with a beautiful and powerful woman. I know you are a Valar woman, and I daresay, I promise I won't tell." Said Jacob, hugging her. "After that attack, and seeing the horror on our faces, let us start over, become friends, and help our city to grow strong again. It's the least I can do."

"Oh, do not worry, Jacob," said Vera, crying happily. "I'm not interested in courting. Bard and I have only been with each other for about two weeks. We are only friends. However, my father has betrothed me to Bard, that doesn't mean we're married yet. But you may be the only 2 men, who have heard about my powers and abilities. Sauron is such a bully!" Vera and Jacob cleaned up and returned to the party, warmer and brighter in friendship, Jacob is a renewed and a better man than he was before, Vera had reminded of him about his mother, and the two began to be close friends and respect each other's reputations.

CHAPTER NINE

Vera learns to love Bard

Vera had grown very close for four weeks with Bard and their new friend, Master Jacob. When Master Jacob learned that his son learned to refuse to have huge balls and play with selfish women, Mrs. Patterson was now favoring her nephew more than her own son. This made Alfred very jealous, but sometimes he didn't care. In Middle of May, Spring fevers and Summa is a cumin in. Bard learned to slow down his fishing business and take a break, Vera decided it was time for her mother to meet Father's chosen one. Bard asked Vera if she was going anywhere in the summer, a beautiful holiday where no trouble comes around would be nice. Vera said she had to visit her mother on an important matter, she wouldn't leave Bard alone and she insisted they'd make the journey. They traveled by day, so that the spiders wouldn't attack in the light, and Vera would take shelter in uncursed caves. Vera took great care of Bard, which soon made him very fond of his companion. More than a companion, rather now as a romantic crush, his betrothal.

Bard was now at least 34 years of age, and Vera was now at least 28 years old. When they finally reached the elvish realm, Rivendell, Gandalf was very happy to see the face of Vera Valar again. Not that he wasn't happy to see Bard the bowman. "Welcome, young Valar," greeted Gandalf the Grey, to Vera's return. "I say you are not only here with your betrothal for a long, Holiday? Perhaps something else is on your mind, Princess Vera?" Vera smiles, and then slowly frowns. "Aye, Gandalf, there is. But do not worry, for it is Spring and we shall be merry!" said Vera, happily, holding Bard's arm very close. "I have been in a strange encounter, and its nothing compared to my incredible life in Lake Town, Bard has been the best man I shall ever hope for as a future spouse. I may be honest to my heart, I may feel ready to become a wife, but I might need a little longer than a week." Bard smiled, and he placed his hand, and rubbed his thumb over her cheek. "I for one have become very close and fond of you, Vera. And I believe I am ready to marry you when ever you are. A week, not too long now, we shall marry and start our own life together." Then Lady Galadriel and Lord Elron appeared, "Hullo, Princess Vera, I assume you have not just come for a holiday, but to have some medical assistance?" said Lord Elron, examining her forearm. "What attacked you this time?" Bard looked at Vera's covered arm, and he was shocked to see a long, line of dried blood along her arm. "You never told me about this, Oh Vera, it may not be my business to know an Elvish affair. But I do love you." Replied Bard, worriedly. "What attacked you, Vera? Why did you hide this from me?"

"I wanted to protect you, Bard, and Jacob. That's why Jacob became our friend. He was afraid to be left alone, and I resembled to be like his mother." Said Vera, trembling.

"I was too innocent and observed too much, Jacob was locked in his own closet, I was barricaded in Jacob's luxury bedroom by a dark spirit. He called me his 'death queen', a 'foolish Valar girl', it was Sauron. Using a young man as a decoy to attract a noble lady of the light. He pulled onto my arm, and instead of kissing it, he fed on my blood. It felt like fire was burning my skin alive, heaven help me!" cried vera, trembling. "My kiss will only restore health to the man I love, and the kiss is fatal for evil spirits or controlled men, to be put to death or suffering anguish. If I could marry Bard as soon as I could, possibly Sauron could fear the both of us and run away. Lake Town must learn to be strong and help each other, and its already starting to grow. Youngins are marrying and the elders are passing, but a new cycle of life is restored every day."

Lady Galadriel looked at her poor daughter's arm, she sang some words of healing and the sunlight healed the wound to turn back to a soft, cleaned arm. "Oh Mama, I've missed you so!" cried Vera, worriedly. "Even I, a grown Valar can cry, even to hug into her Mother's arms for comfort. And I, who could marry into the loveliest and most trusted man, Bard the Bowman, as my future husband." Bard bowed on one knee and held out her hand, "Vera, you have made my past miserable life easier and happier. You have healed the sickly, ill-treated, The Master's son to new life. I wish the best for your sake and I promise we can work things out together." Said Bard, acting on proposal. I cannot offer much, but all I can say is…will you do me the honor is becoming my bride?" Vera smiled and slowly left her mother's arms, and Lady Galadriel smiled brightly. "Aye, Bard, I accept." She replied, jumping into his arms. "Can we get married here? A royal Man and Valar Elvish wedding?" Bard smiled, "If that's what you want, then I want that too." Replied Bard, happily. "If that's okay with you all?" Lord Elron nodded and Lady Galadriel, helped set up the Moonlight Wedding as soon as possible. "My daughter shall wear this beautiful Elvish wedding dress," said Galadriel, as she helped her daughter placed on her wedding items. "I used to wear this when I married your father. Those were the good, olden days. But I love our memories now."

Vera smiled and she walked from the hallways with her mother, and she took her mother's hand. "I know your father would have had the thrill of giving you away, but he insisted that I would take his place and do it for him." Said Lady Galadriel, bringing her to Bard, dressed in a red elvish garment. "And here you are, my darling, healed and safe. The daughter of a Valar King and Lady Galadriel, an Elvish queen of the Light. To their only daughter who marries a strong, loving, honest, and protective Man. Do you Bard, take my daughter into your home, to love, to cherish, to protect and to prosper her as your beloved wife?" Bard nodded, taking Vera's hands saying, "I do."

"And do you, Princess Vera, Empress of the Eagles and the Guardian of Spring, take this Man to be your husband? To love, to cherish, to protect and to prosper him?" asked Lady Galadriel, softly. Vera said, "I do." Bard with no further ado, passionately kissed his newly wedded wife, as the Prince of Middle Earth, as only a simple Bowman as can be. Enduring the nights, where Bard and Vera spent long evenings passionately kissing one another and mingling in bed, slept with sweet dreams and midnight songs of an Elvish lullaby.

To the Princess of Light,

Singing her songs, tonight,

She who marries this Man,

Is the Queen of all the lands,

With gentle whispering thoughts,

With love, she sweetly brought,

Conceived a child that eve of morn,

Henceforth, to them, a son shall be born.

Prince of the newborn life,

Who loves his Elvish-Valar wife,

Father of the son to be,

Crowned with love and majesty,

Trust beyond the setting sun,

His wife destroyed thy evil's done.

(End song)

CHAPTER TEN

The Birth of Bard's firstborn son

Returning to the home of Lake Town, finishing the year of Summers and Fall. Sauron made no bother to the beloved couple. They hadn't heard from him for a long time, and Vera became pregnant, to where her womb was getting bigger for everyone to notice. Mrs. Patterson and Joyce were overwhelmed to see Vera and Bard return home from their wedding. Already getting ready for the Christmas Celebrations, alas, Lady Galadriel and Lord Elron wanted to see them over the week. Vera learned to tell the truth to the citizens of Lake Town, and when Jacob became the new Master after his father, The Master, retired, she wasn't ashamed to show her soft, pointed ears and her beautiful scars. Around January 13th, of the year 2930's or mid 2920's, I forgot the year exactly. Princess Vera and Prince Bard had their firstborn son. To rethink things through, Vera and Bard had 5 children, Bain happened to not become the firstborn son. He was the middle child and the youngest of two brothers, but he was younger, than his older brother and sister, and his later two younger sisters, of whom we know are Sigrid and Tilda. Their son's name was Bartholomew Jacob the II, he was called Bart for short…something after his father, Bard, and his godfather, Master Jacob.
