'Sup with it guys, back at it again with another chapter. And this is the good ol' Episode 1 recap. Except it's not. Except it is.
Today, Issei Hyuudo was bored. Normally, at this time of day, at this second, he would be peeping into one of the glorious holes that would allow him and his friends to get a glimpse of changing women.
However, that all changed for two reasons: the first one was because they actually decided to block the hole from the inside, and the second one was because, even through rigorous intel gathering for their schedule, the kendo club switched it up on them and they weren't meeting up today.
Sure, they could go and peek at the swim team changing, thanks to Motohama's ingenious idea of boring a hole into a wall, or they could go peek at the tennis team changing, but that wasn't possible. They had a set schedule for peeking, and to break that schedule was sacreligious. It was like having a cheat day of fast food for two days in a row (not that Issei would know). And besides, today was kendo day.
And so, the Perverted Trio subjected themselves to lazily watching the clouds roll by, as they lay on a patch of grass along a hill.
"Ehh," Issei grumbled, "I wanna squeeze some boobs."
His bald-headed, and long time friend, to the right of him pumped his fist in the air, "I'm with you on that one Issei!"
"Don't say that, Matsuda," his other friend to his left said, adjusting his glasses, "It's pointless."
"Hey, you know, that cloud actually looks like boobs," another voice said above.
"BOOBS!" The three yelled in conjunction as they hastily searched for the cloud. Instead, all they heard was snickering.
"Jeeze, even the slightest mention of boobs get you riled up. Though, I shouldn't be surprised, considering I've known you guys for two weeks now."
The three looked up to see an eye and red hair.
"Oi!" Issei retorted, lifting his torso up from the ground, "you don't get to talk Mr. Pretty Boy! You've practically had women go out of their way to allow you to fondle them!"
"Yeah!" Matsuda added, following suit in Issei's actions, "They probably offer you their lunches and let you see their panties!"
"And let's not forget the time you practically bridal carried our beautiful Koneko to the infirmary!" Motohama concluded, his glasses misaligning as his body jerked up to meet Lavi's towering position.
"W-w-woah, guys," Lavi held up his hands, "first of all, I only wish that were the case. Second of all, it was only one time! I had never even met her before that day! And lastly, she said her ankle was sprained! What else was I supposed to do?!"
"Everything you just said just proved our point!"
"No, the hell it didn't!"
"Yes it did! And you know what, I even heard that one of our Two Great Ladies, Akeno, walked up to you on your first day of class!"
"Th-that may be true, but still! You guys are overthinking it!"
"No we're not! We can only dream of fondling breasts and seeing panties! You get the damn backstage VIP pass!"
By then, the ruckus they were causing began to attract the attention of students passing by.
"I didn't know Lavi was affiliated with the Perverted Trio…"
"So gross…"
"I know, and he was so cute too…"
Lavi's lone eye twitched upon hearing the remarks, "Seriously? I need to get you guys girlfriends..."
"Well, we thought we had a chance! This used to be an all-girls school only, so the moment they made it co-ed, we enrolled right away!" Matsuda explained.
"That was the plan," Issei sighed, "Unfortunately, we're here in our second year, and not once were we able to get girlfriends…"
"Don't say that, or it'll be all for nothing," Motohama replied, trying to quell his friends' building depression.
"But if we give up, we lose! We still have a fighting chance!" Issei roared with determination, the sulking feeling that crept up on the three blown away.
"Err...right," Lavi could only laugh awkwardly as he listened, "So anyways, I'm gonna go. Gramps should be waiting for me at home."
With that, Lavi walked off, adjusting his bandana and eye patch.
As the three watched him walk away, another commotion occured behind them, multiple footsteps urgently clicking on the walkway. Turning their heads to view the commotion, they saw three girls chasing a lone figure, casually walking down the hill.
They eyed the lone figure, his blonde tufts of hair breezing along with the wind allowed them to instantly recognize who it was. And, as per usual with the pretty boy trope, it seemed he was oblivious to the group of girls quickly approaching him.
"Tcheh, lucky bastard…" Matsuda muttered.
The blond, now noticing the sounds behind him, turned around to face the approaching girls. Issei could have sworn he saw sparkling around his eyes and head.
'I want those effects too!'
From where the three boys were, they could faintly hear the conversation occuring.
"Kiba!" one of the girls said, "Would you like to go karaoking with us?"
"Or, or maybe, dinner?" the second girl pitched in.
The third one growled in irritance, "Fuck it, would you have a foursome with us?"
Issei growled in anger. Fuckin' lucky bastard.
"Ah yes," Motohama said, subconsciously adjusting his glasses, "Yuuto Kiba, a second year, like us. Unlike us, though, he's the object of all the girls' yearnings. Truly an enemy to all boys in this high school."
"Damn it!" Issei exclaimed, "Just because he's handsome, and cute, and has a great personality, and smart!"
"Uh...you turning gay on us man?" Matsuda asked, sweatdropping at his friend's exclamation.
"No! He has all of those properties that make him a pretty boy! I hate pretty boys! Ignoring us perverts, like we're the scum of the earth...though Lavi's actually cool too, because he talks to us."
"Don't say that, or it'll be all for nothing…" Motohama replied, tears comically rolling down his cheeks.
"Ugh, life is so unfair…"
"Actually," Matsuda smiled, "You know what? I know where we can get our peeping in today!"
"What? Where?" The two others asked with sparkling puppy eyes.
Matsuda's smile turn lecherously gross, as he faced his peers, "Follow me."
"What is this building?" Issei asked, standing behind an oriental looking building. Of all the scouting adventures he'd been through, not once had he seen this building before.
"This," Matsuda replied, slapping the wall, "is the Oriental Tea Club. They built it just a couple of months ago. This is where students go to engage in tea ceremonies. And you know what that means?"
Without waiting for an answer, his hand traveled down to the branch of a budding sapling, pulling the shrub down, and revealing a hole the perfect size for an eye.
"See for yourself."
Motohama and Issei's eyes widened in realization as they eagerly jumped into the awaiting peephole. Inside they could see creamy skin, and luscious breasts as they watched girls change out of their schoolwear and into formal kimonos.
"Holy shit, Matsuda…" Motohama said, as his head kept trying for dominance over the peephole with Issei's.
"You just hit gold!" Issei whispered, his nose bleeding slightly. This was such a new sight to see! Surely the gods have blessed him today! It must have been because he saved a kitten from a tree the other day.
'Getting stuck up on that tree was so worth it!'
Issei drooled, and let out a satisfied sigh unfortunately too loud for their situation.
Inside, the girls quickly scrambled for their things and for their clothes, attempting to cover up their bodies.
"Wh-what was that?"
"I'm not sure, it sounded like it came from outside…"
Outside, the Perverted Trio was panicking.
"Issei! What did you do?!" Matsuda shouted in a hushed whisper.
"I-I don't think they heard! It'll be fine!" Issei said, trying to calm down his two other mates, and he proceeded to look back into the peephole.
Instead of seeing those luscious images from before, however, he saw an eye staring back at him in anger. Issei blinked, and he suddenly jumped back, the tip of a kendo sword penetrating the hole where his eye was.
'Holy shit! I almost got blinded!' he thought, as he scrambled back up.
"Motohama, Matsuda, let's get the hell out of here!" Issei shouted.
"Well, well I should've known," a voice said. This voice sounded very familiar.
The three began trembling, knowing whose voice that belonged to. Ah yes, Pavlovian conditioning at its finest.
"Th-the kendo club's captain…?" Matsuda said, fear spilling in his voice, "I-I thought you guys weren't meeting today…?"
"Well, that's true, we weren't meeting today," the captain replied, her eyes glinting, "but we were asked to be bodyguards for the Ceremonial Tea club, just in case some perverts decided to have a look-see."
"Girls!" she yelled, as she snapped her fingers.
Immediately, the three were surrounded by five other girls, donning their well known kendo fashion, bokken in hand. The circle grew smaller, as the girls stepped menacingly closer, and the Perverted Trio squished together.
Suddenly, a thought popped up into Issei's head. A terrible idea that would ultimately spell defeat in their cause. Issei shook his head. Such underhanded tactics would mean that he is dirtier than dirt. It would mean that they would win.
'Do I really have to resort to it…?' Issei continued conflicting with his thoughts, the situation growing more dire by the second as the girls continued closing in, 'Ah, fuck it. I'm doing it.'
Issei cupped his hands by his mouth and shouted, "Hey Kiba! Whatchya doin' over there?!"
Immediately, all of the heads of the kendo club turned towards the direction Issei was projecting his voice. Issei felt himself crack inside, as his pride crumbled, though he grabbed the two other boys and dashed out of the circle.
"Hey!" one of them yelled, realizing that there was no Kiba in sight.
"Damn," the captain growled, "they're evolving."
The three hid behind the stone walls of the old building, gasping for breath as if they had run for their lives. Which...they did. Those girls were becoming more and more hostile.
'I feel bad for whoever decides to date them...especially the kendo captain,' Issei thought, regaining his breath. That was just too close. Busy catching his breath, he looked up into the sky, and out of his peripheral, he saw red hair flowing through the one of the windows up above.
'That hair…' he thought, 'I know that hair anywhere!'
He fixed his gaze into the window and was met with piercing blue cerulean eyes. A red tint crept up on his face, as he realized he was staring at one of the Great Ladies of Kuoh. She smirked at him, before turning away, her red hair dramatically flowing with the turn of her body, and she disappeared from view.
"That was…" Matsuda began, snapping Issei out of his thoughts. He realized that they were staring at her too.
"Rias Gremory," Motohama said, subconsciously adjusting his glasses, and he began reciting, "bust 99 centimeters, waist 58 centimeters, and hip 90 centimeters. She's the president of the Occult Research Club."
"Yeaaah, beautiful, isn't she?"
"Wah!"
The trio jumped into a very flimsy (and embarrassing) battle stance, but settled after realizing just who it was.
"You've gotta stop popping out of nowhere like that, Lavi," Issei sighed, as he dropped his believed battle stance.
"Hehe, sorry, can't help it," Lavi said, rubbing the back of his head.
"I thought you went home to meet with your grandfather," Motohama asked.
"Yeah, but then I got sent out...for errands," Lavi said, "So I just did 'em and I don't feel like going home yet, so here I am! I was actually here a while back too. Saw you guys were about to get mauled by the kendo team again actually."
"Why didn't you help us?!" Matsuda asked, tears comically flowing down his face, "I thought you were our friend!"
"And get mauled by them too? No way. Nasty business they are."
Bzzt bzzt.
"Oh, my mom just texted," Motohama said, as he scrolled through his phone, "Shit, I gotta go. She just found another one of my magazines."
'Another one…?' Lavi thought, sweat dropping. He should've known by now, but it seems as if their perversity keeps surprising him more and more.
"Alright, I might as well head home too," Matsuda said, adjusting his backpack onto his back.
"Then Issei, you want me to walk home with you?" Lavi asked, smiling.
"Ewww NO! Sorry man, but I'm not gay, and what you suggested was kinda gay," Issei exclaimed, his arms making an X in front of his body.
"I'm not gay either! And you insult me by even coming up with that notion! Besides, I'm still kinda bored, and I don't feel like going home yet."
"Err...fine," Issei sighed.
The two found themselves leisurely walking through town. The sun began to set, as an orange hue began to take over the sky. It...wasn't as gay as Issei thought it was going to be. The two began talking about girls, about which assets were better, and their love lives in general.
"Mine?" Lavi asked, his arms folded behind his head, "I never had the time to be able to think about that. I...traveled a lot when I was young, so I didn't really get close to anybody. I've made a couple of...friends here and there, but they travel too. We rarely meet up, so I just haven't found a reason to get close with other people like that if I'm going to be traveling around a lot. Who knows? I might not be staying long here either."
There was another reason too. Though Lavi hoped that Issei and his friends wouldn't become another example of that other reason. Lavi knew it was a mistake becoming friendly with the three, but hey. He was in a relatively foreign place, his friends were in a different continent, and he only had Bookman. He was still a devil with emotions, though try as he might to get rid of it, he didn't want to be alone.
"Whaa, so there's a chance you might be moving away sometime?" Issei asked. Damn, even though he hates pretty boys, he couldn't deny that Lavi was a good friend. And though he liked Matsuda and Motohama, he was glad that he at least had one NORMAL friend.
…
Even if he was a pretty boy.
"What about you, what's your take on your love life?"
The two stopped in the middle of a bridge, and he leaned over a railing, watching the cars roll by. Lavi stepped beside him and leaned over the railing as well, gazing at Issei intently.
"Ugh, don't get me started…" Issei began, rhetorically, "at this rate, I feel like my high school life is gonna pass by without bearing fruit, and I won't ever be able to touch boobs."
He slumped his head into his arms, "Life's just not fair…"
Lavi was about to respond, however the clicking of footsteps caught his attention. He looked to the source of the footsteps and saw a girl, with silky black hair and violet eyes, wearing a uniform from a school that seemed to not be around here. She stopped a few feet away from the sulking Issei, her eyes trained on him. Lavi felt...on edge.
"U-um...excuse me?"
Surprisingly, the sound of a girl's voice did not, in fact, shake Issei out of his sulk.
"Boobs...boobs," Issei cried to himself, ignoring the girl completely. Lavi deadpanned at his reaction. Seriously? Here was a beautiful girl that was trying to talk to him, and he was ignoring it?
"You're Issei Hyuudo, right? From Kuoh Academy?" She tried again, this time with Issei raising his head from his arms as he looked at her, finally getting a look at who called his attention. Though his eyes were somewhat puffy, his cheeks red, and snot running down his nose, he responded. Was he crying the whole time?
"Y-Yeah?"
Issei eyed her from bottom to top, 'Oh shit, she's cute!...And I look like a mess!'
He cleared himself of his face, the effects of his sulking seemingly disappearing as he wiped his face with his sleeves a couple of times.
"Um…I'm...I'm Amano Yuuma..." She hesitantly started.
"D-Did you need something from me?"
"Are...are you seeing anyone right now?" She asked waveringly, her skirt waving with the wind.
"N-no...not really, why?"
"Thank god!"
Lavi watched the scene in amusement, as if a drama were unfolding before him. What happened in the next couple of seconds however, seemed to break, not only him, but the physical and natural laws of the world as well.
"W-would you...go out with me?"
Issei awoke the next morning with a hop in his step. During his whole morning routine, he smiled jovially, as one thought had been lingering in his mind for the past sixteen hours.
He had a girlfriend.
Ohhh man, Motohama and Matsuda were gonna be so jealous! Hell! Even Lavi looked like he was gonna cry in jealousy. After the whole ordeal, Lavi looked like a broken broken clock that wouldn't stop twitching. It was hi-LARIOUS.
In your face, pretty boy!
It was even more hilarious introducing his new girlfriend to the other two members of the Perverted Trio. Matsuda and Motohama's face converted into caricatures of shock and betrayal, as Issei and his girlfriend met up with them at their usual meet-up spot before heading to school.
"Yeah," Issei said, his hand giving way to the girl with him, "this is Amano Yuuma."
"And these," Issei positioned himself by his friends, "are my friends, Motohama and Matsuda."
Yuuma gave them a friendly smile, "Ah, nice to meet you."
Issei huddled the two in, taunting them with a hushed whisper, "And yes, she's my gir-l-friend."
He retracted himself from the huddle as he returned to his girlfriend, "So! My mission is complete! Now it's up to you guys! See ya! Let's go Yuuma."
And with that, Issei waved at them, while Yuuma bowed, and the two walked away. The two remaining boys stared dumbstruck at their friend's retreating back. Don't say anything, you two, or it'll be all for nothing.
Later that day, Issei found himself on the exact same bridge, in the exact same spot, where he fatefully met his girlfriend. The sun, once again, was on the verge of setting, leaving a glowing orange hue in the sky.
"A-a date?" Issei asked, reiterating her question just to make sure he heard correctly.
"Mmm," Yuuma replied, "Would Sunday be alright with you?"
"O-of course!" he said eagerly, holding his fist in front of her.
"Thank goodness!" She leaned closer to him, their faces meeting so close as if they were going to kiss.
Issei thought so too for a second, before she turned around, "Okay! See you then! I'll be looking forward to our date!"
And she ran off.
He watched her retreating form dreamily. Having a girlfriend was so great.
"Yep," Lavi muttered, as he reviewed the footage from his golem, "thought so."
Lavi sat by his desk, his legs stretched out and crossed over, leaning back from his chair. He watched Issei jumping in excitement, yelling "Date! I've got a date!" within the holographic screen.
He continued watching the footage. His eyebrows raised slightly, because after Issei departed from the bridge, a little girl, donning the Kuoh uniform, stepped out from the shadows. Her silver locks swayed with the wind, as she licked a popsicle.
"Koneko too, huh?" He said, sitting up and scribbling her name onto a little notebook. In this notebook was a list of all names he believed to belong to the supernatural world in Kuoh. He had already listed down names, like Rias, Akeno, Kiba, the set of students in the student council, and most recently, Koneko. He was contemplating on whether or not to write Issei's name in the book as well, given that the boy was only human, though he was sure that Yuuma was a fallen angel. And he knew that she was targeting him for something. For what? He still wasn't sure.
In fact, after his detailed report, which did take a couple of days to get to its destination, Lavi received a quick phone call from Komui himself, wondering why the hell he decided to send a letter, and not just use his golem to send the report. Or his cellphone, for fuck's sakes. It's the 21st century, not 1800's England.
Ah well, people just don't understand the aesthetics of the older methods. Though he did agree to use his phone more often for more important matters.
Other than that, he relayed more information to Komui about the happenings in Kuoh since the last time he sent in his report. Huh, using the phone really is more convenient.
Komui also told him not to use his Innocence to engage with other supernatural orders unless absolutely necessary. Most of the supernatural and natural world were still ignorant of the hidden danger that disguises themselves in the flesh, and Komui wanted to keep the fight between the akuma and the Noah as contained as possible. And Lavi understood that.
This war that he was taking part in was a struggle between light and dark; good and evil. And in war, innocents were bound to get hurt. By taking this to the shadows, Komui would hope that more people would be unaffected by it, though they suspected that their efforts would be for naught; they were already employing innocent civilians by turning them into their weapons. Who's to say they wouldn't take the battle to a whole city? Who's to say they wouldn't decimate populations of humans, devils, or angels in their conquest for power? They would tackle those problems when the time came.
For now, they would do their best to protect the unprotected by not allowing them to get involved. For now, keep each other safe. Exorcists were becoming scarcer and scarcer, and with the loss of General Yeager, everyone was reminded that no matter how strong you are, even the strongest can fall.
Jeeze, he had so many assignments piled up on him. He had his job as a historian, he had his job as an exorcist he had to record for Sirzechs, he had to watch over Sirzechs' sister(technically, though that's what he was taking it as), he had to deal with school...again, and now he had to deal with this whole fallen angel fiasco.
What next? Was a Noah going to knock on his door? He truly hoped not.
Ah jeez, he just wanted to relax. He was surprised he wasn't overcome with fatigue yet.
Suddenly, his door burst open, and Lavi jumped up in his seat, as pens and papers flew up before scattering onto the floor.
"Jeeze, old man!" Lavi said, recomposing himself, "Knock would you?!"
Bam!
Lavi clutched his head in pain, as a welt formed in the center of his noggin.
"Don't call me old man!" Bookman replied angrily.
He sighed, "I have to make a quick trip to China. I'll be leaving soon."
Lavi, quickly forgetting the throbbing pain in his head, looked at his senior.
"Wait, what? All by yourself? Will you be okay?"
"Yes, I'll be fine. I'm going to meet up with a few exorcists and finders. We're going to transport them here as well. Based on your latest report, Komui confirmed that there is a possibility of a powerful force in the area we are located in."
Lavi raised his eyebrows questioningly, "A powerful force? What if it's just another sacred gear?"
Bookman nodded in reply, "That's true, but you already know yourself, the holder of that potential powerful force belongs to that boy you have become acquainted with. And you know already, that he is being targeted by the fallen angels. I'm sure Rias Gremory and her group could hold them off, but what would become of it if it were Innocence? Then the akuma would become involved as well."
Lavi shuddered at the thought. If it was Innocence, then it wouldn't end well. He and Bookman could only do so much with akuma, and then to have to deal with fallen angels as well? The devils had no means of combat against the akuma's deadly weapons.
Sunday couldn't have come fast enough for Issei. For the next couple of days, he had run through many scenarios, wondering what his date would entail.
Perhaps, they would have a nice fancy dinner at a nice steakhouse by the pier; he would order a nice juicy steak and some mashed potatoes, and she would order some nice cold-tail lobster, and after being stuffed with dinner, she would take him to the bathroom and show him her boobs.
Or maybe they would go to an amusement park. They would ride the roller coasters there and he would hold her hands as they dropped from the towering heights, comforting while she screamed to death, and then they would go around the stalls grabbing popcorn and cotton candy, before finishing the date at the ferris wheel, where she would show him her boobs.
And now, here he was, waiting by the directory for a shopping center. It wasn't a fancy dinner, nor was it an amusement park, but hey! He'll take what he can get.
Issei looked around, inwardly excited. He was wondering what was going to happen. Maybe she would take him shopping, and she would try on various underwear for him to see? Or maybe she would sneak him into a dressing room and they would fuck?!
Lecherous thoughts continued pouring out of Issei's head, though outwardly, he did his best to not express it. What if he was making one of those faces and she decided then would be the best time to pop up? Not cool.
Plus, he was looking extra fresh today. He picked out a navy blue polo, with red and white accents on his collar, over a grey cardigan, grey pants, and shoes. He was even going to use that cool, "I've only been waiting for five minutes" line that he has always wanted to use.
"Where is she? It's just about time, isn't it?" He asked himself, anxiety making its way into his stomach as the thought of her flaking last minute boiled in his mind.
"Excuse me!" A lady said, tapping on his shoulder. Turning to face her, he thought that her get-up was kind of...odd. She wore, what looked like, a red blouse, decorated with...bat wings?
Upon grabbing his attention, she placed a flyer into his hands, smiling, as she turned around and walked away.
"Shoot," he mumbled, "I took it without thinking…"
He studied the flyer, the motto "Your wish will be granted" in bold white letters, and an intricate pentagram symmetrically placed in the middle.
'Was she trying to sell me something? I don't see a product or anything on here…'
He pocketed the flyer before scanning his environment again, hoping the girl on his mind would show up.
"Issei!"
Ah! The voice of the girl that had been on his mind 24/7 for the past couple of days! Finally!
Yuuma ran across the crosswalk, her pink purse flowing wildly as she ran up to him.
"Oh! Good morning, Yuuma!" he said. She looked beautiful. Her lilac cropped blouse, and black knee length dress really complemented her eyes! Of course, as Issei expected, she would know how to color coordinate really well.
"I'm sorry, I just got here," she said, grabbing his hand with both of hers.
"N-no, don't worry about it, I just got here five minutes ago," Issei replied, his mind exploding in fireworks, as he felt like he just received an achievement in game.
Bronze trophy unlocked! Finally Used Cliche Phrase.
Their date took them through the shopping center and through town. After strolling through the shopping center, Yuuma took him to a bakery on a strip that served crepes; even after finishing it, he could still smell the aromatic scent of berries and chocolate.
Then, he took her to an arcade, where they almost got lost in a labyrinth of mirrors. After that, they played on crane machines, in which Issei promised Yuuma that he would get her something, and then they played with some of the video game arcade machines, where Yuuma, apparently, kicked his ass seven different ways to an eighth day of the week in Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Need for Speed.
Their date ended by the park, the sun dipping below the horizon, leaving the sky with a beautiful hue of orange and blue. The two, hand in hand, strolled through the park, admiring the beautiful scenery, making small talk.
Eventually, the two settled into a comfortable silence, Yuuma suddenly halting their walk in front of a fountain.
She skipped a couple of feet ahead of him, before turning around. Her hands clutching her purse behind her back.
"Issei," She began in a chirpy tone, "I had a lot of fun today. Can you do something for me to commemorate our first date?"
She walked forward slowly, causing Issei's heartbeat to fasten with each step forward. Eventually, they were face to face, Yuuma looking into Issei's eyes with innocent violet eyes.
Issei's face blushed fiercely, his thoughts running rampant as he anticipated her request.
'D-Does she...want a kiss?!'
Suddenly, Issei became very insecure about himself. Didn't they just eat some crepes earlier? What if his breath smelled like smelly chocolate? Or what if it somehow smelled like garlic? What if...oh no. He thought back to the coffee he had that morning. What if he had that dreaded coffee breath? What if his breath just stank in general?
Despite his thoughts, he trudged on, acknowledging her question.
"Wh-what is it...that you would like for me to do?"
Her voice took on a sinister tone, deepening considerably, "Would you die for me?"
Insert loading brain cat emoji here.
He blinked, cleaning his ear out with his pinky, "I'm sorry, could you repeat that for me? I don't think I heard you properly the first time.
She stepped closer to him, her mouth almost pressing against his ear, as she repeated sharply, "Would you die for me?"
She stepped back, her eyes shedding innocence, as they were replaced with a sharp sinister glint. She smiled. It was a smile so sinister and evil that it had completely overridden his memories of her joyful and lovely smile.
Suddenly, her clothes tore, exposing her full body; her naked mountains and pink tips flashing Issei for a split second (yes, he paid attention to that, despite his ignorance to his increasingly dangerous situation). An ominously purple aura encapsulated her before disappearing, leaving a skimpy black two piece that exposed her enormous assets and, most prominently, long black feathery wings.
Issei fell onto his butt, his eyes widening at the danger that was in front of him, fear encroaching his eyes. He couldn't believe what he was seeing. The most shocking thing about this whole thing was...the wings on her back. Part of him hoped this was a dream; a horrifying nightmare about his first date going wrong.
"It's been fun, hanging around with you for this time", she said, a cold smirk invading her lips, "playing along with your naive and childish manner. I'll be sure to treasure our short precious moment together. And so…"
She held her hand out, and it began emanating a red glowing light that illuminated the sinister look on her face, as it formed a jagged spear that looked reminiscent of lightning. She twirled it dramatically before pointing it at the fearful boy.
"Y-Yuuma," he began, attempting to reach his hand out to her.
"Time to die," she said, as she pulled back, initiating her strike.
"Oh no you don't!" Issei heard someone say, and before he could process who it was, he watched as Yuuma's body crumpled to the ground. Issei shook himself of his shock, as he began to focus on what was happening in front of him. He was about to die! And then…
"L-Lavi?" he asked, as he saw said boy picking himself up after tackling the woman with wings into the ground.
"Glad I made it in time," Lavi said, quickly running in front of the fallen Issei, as he entered a forward fighting stance.
"Wh-what's going on?" Issei panickingly asked, his body trembling.
"That's...a fallen angel. She's here to kill you," Lavi answered, eyeing her downed body.
She twitched a bit, before slowly getting up, rage spilling from her eyes.
"How dare you!" She snarled furiously, as she formed another deadlyl jagged spear.
"Issei, get out of here. You're a target right now, and there's only so much I can do to hold her off right now," Lavi said seriously, one that seemed unbecoming of the boy in front of him.
"I-I-" Issei started, but the woman in front of them made her advance, quickly closing the gap and swinging her spear.
Lavi ducked under the swing and delivered a quick punch into her side, causing her to slide slightly. He readjusted himself to face her again, re-entering his forward stance.
"You're awfully strong, but you're no human, are you?" she taunted, pointing her spear at him.
Lavi's eye widened fractionally, as she smirked.
"I could smell it from you, you vile devil," she said, as she rushed at him with incredible speed. Lavi barely managed to avoid his impalement, as he rolled to the side. Shoot, not being able to use your Innocence sucked.
Though she missed her intended target, she eyed the unprotected boy in her peripheral. She smiled maniacally, as she halted her movement. Lavi's eyes widened, as he watched the woman fling the spear at the boy. He was out of position.
"Issei! Move!" He helplessly yelled, as he watched the boy still frozen in fear.
Issei could only watch what was happening. Why couldn't he do anything? Lavi had told him to leave a long time ago, but his mind felt like it was overloading on sensory functions. Each time she conjured that weapon, its flash of light was so blinding, it was like someone was flashing strobe lights in his face. It always took him by startle, and each time he would see an afterimage of...Yuuma's maniacal face. A face that he had come to adore and love was tainted with so much evil.
And then Lavi coming out of nowhere to save him. He should've known that he would. Lavi always popped up in either the most convenient of times or surprising of times. And now here he was, engaging in a fight with the woman that was supposed to...kill...him.
No. All he was doing right now was succumbing to his fear. His friend was here, trying to save him. His friend was fighting that...woman that had Yuuma's face all by himself. He was Issei Hyuudo! He was a member of the Perverted Trio! He was a man of insatiable lust, and a man of great lecherous dreams! If he died here, he would never be able to achieve his life's fulfillment! He would never be able to have a harem! And also...he would never leave his friend to fight alone. He finally felt himself move. He was doing it! He was getting up! And his name was-
"Grrk!" Issei let out a loud gasp, as he fell back to the floor. Suddenly, pain erupted from his stomach, as he felt himself grow cold fast. He started gasping for air, his breath becoming ragged. Blood began pooling from the hole made into his body, soaking up his clothes, hair, and the brown sand where his body lay.
"Hehehe," Yuuma chuckled, "You should have listened to him when he told you to leave."
Lavi stared in wide-eyed horror, as he watched his friend get impaled by the fast moving projectile.
"Issei!" Lavi yelled, as he scrambled to get to his dying friend.
"Foolish," she said, summoning another spear of light, before throwing it at the redhead's moving body.
Unfortunately for Lavi, he hadn't seen the new projectile being thrown in his direction, and he yelled in pain, as he fell to his knees, the spear embedding itself onto his back and its tip exiting through his torso.
Yuuma walked up to the fallen devil, standing over his downed body.
"I'll let the light spear do the rest of the work," she said, kicking him over to his side, eliciting from him a gasp of pain, as she looked at the body of the other boy, "Looks like I've already done what I needed to."
And with that, she flapped her wings, before flying away, black feathers sprinkling onto the ground and on Lavi's weakened form.
Lavi continued moving weakly. He crawled to Issei with every strength left in his body, leaving a trail of blood in his path. The embedded spear burned his body with each movement of his legs, each movement of his arms, each twitch of his fingertips, and each shutter of his eyelids.
Eventually, Lavi managed to reach his friend, who was still coughing and breathing raspily, although Lavi noticed that his breathing was getting shallower and shallower.
He propped himself up along the wall of the fountain, turning so that he was able to lean as comfortably as he could with a spear through his body.
"I guess I didn't make it on time," he said raspily, looking up into the now black sky; the sky that reminded him of that woman's feathers.
"Damn," he coughed, "Gramps is gonna be so disappointed…"
"L-La...vi," Issei managed to start weakly, coughing as blood spurted from his throat.
"Hey bud…" Lavi replied softly, coughing in the process of overexerting his blood-filled throat, the feeling of succumbing to sleep growing stronger, "I'm sorry."
Eventually, Issei's raspy breathing could be heard no longer, though Lavi had no time to dwell on it, as a crimson red light formed a pentagram in the sky.
"You're the one who summoned me, right?" a melodiously distinct voice said, a figure forming as the pentagram translated to the ground. Lavi watched in wonder, as beautiful crimson red hair flowed, followed by the distinct figure of the girl he was supposed to be watching over.
Rias faced Issei's body, her back turned towards Lavi. The crimson light of the pentagram highlighted the shadows in her flowing hair, and the miniscule details behind her.
He thought the Kuoh uniform had never looked so ominously beautiful as the whites of her skirt and blouse absorbed the light.
He coughed, "R-Rias…"
The girl turned around, her eyes widening when she saw Lavi slumped over. The spear still embedded into his back, as it protruded through his torso.
"L-Lavi…?"
He chuckled a mirthless and tired chuckle, his lone eye meeting hers, sleep finally winning over his will to stay awake, "'Bout time you made it…"
He finally closed his eye and allowed himself to rest.
So, that's that. To anyone reading, I would really appreciate any criticisms you may have with this chapter or any one before this one, and I'll keep those criticisms in mind as I write future chapters. I really had to re watch a couple of episodes of D. Gray and DxD to get a grasp of the time line for this story, because I realize that I don't exactly have a set timeline that matches the canonical timeline for both of the shows, and I don't wanna get things mixed up chronologically. One thing that I'm concerned about was Lavi and Bookman knowing who General Cross was in the D. Gray Man timeline. This story starts right after Episode 29 in D. Gray, so...u kno.
