The beach was completely deserted and if it had been any other night, Castiel would have loved to frolic naked in the gentle waves, beneath the full moon with his true love, Dean. Unfortunately they were there to kill twin consummate killers and rid the world of two more deadly monsters.
Dimitri asked where Javier and his mate were and Dean said they cancelled but there was still plenty of fun to be had with just the four of them. That seemed to satisfy the bothers for the time being.
Dean went back to the Impala under the pretense of getting a blanket. He got the blanket alright, along with two machetes.
From their hiding spot among the cliffs, Bobby allowed Sam to take the first shot. The elder Hunter felt it was time to let Sam show all he had learned from him, and besides, the boy had a steady hand and excellent aim.
"Wait for one of them to stop moving, aim for center mass. Once you hit him we have to act fast because the other one will go full on vamp and try to take out as many of us as he can. Sam, as soon as one of them is down, you get first crack at cutting off its head."
Sam calmed himself with steady breaths, just like Dean had taught him. He took aim and shot the arrow tainted with dead man's blood. It was Lucian who took the hit. The vampire went down hard and everyone sprung into action.
Dean dropped the blanket, revealing the machetes, handing one off to Cas. Dimitri, as expected, went wild, immediately attacking Castiel. The vampire was so fast; the Alpha had no time to react. He landed flat on his back with Dimitri on top of him. Dimitri knew this might be the end for him and his brother, but be damned if he wasn't going to take a few Hunters down with him. Sinking his tough nails into the tender flesh of the human's neck, the vampire let out what could only be described as a roar, directly in Cas' face.
Dean raised the machete to strike but hesitated; worried he might hit his mate in the process. That hesitation earned him a blow to the gut, knocking the wind right out of him.
Sam struck Lucian hard, aiming for the neck but instead caught the vamp's collar bone. The vampire screamed for his brother as Sam struck again, this time hitting his mark. It wasn't like in the movies; it took several blows to completely severe the head. By the time it was done, Sam's arms were aching.
Bobby aimed the crossbow at Dimitri while the vampire was distracted by his need for vengeance on Castiel, who was now being pummeled by something much stronger than any human. He hit it square in the back and only when the vampire slowly tilted to the side and then fell off the beaten man, did he approach with his machete.
Dean struggled to his feet with his brothers help and insisted on being the one to cut the vampires head clean off. There was some satisfaction in watching the head roll away from the body. It meant he did his job and the world was just a tiny bit safer. After he was done and the adrenaline wore off, Dean doubled over and threw up.
Castiel, bleeding and bruised, took the hand Bobby offered and got to his feet. His first thoughts were of Dean and the baby and immediately he went to his Omega. Dean had taken a blow to the midsection and even now the skin below the ribcage was angry red.
Without a word, Cas bent down and lifted Dean into his arms bridal style which was no small feat but the Alpha made it seem as if the Omega was light as a feather. Running on adrenaline with no thought for himself, Castiel carried Dean to the Impala and placed him on the passage seat, despite Dean's protesting he wasn't a delicate flower and was perfectly able to walk. Cas shut him up with a kiss.
They went immediately to the hospital.
…..
Dean winced as the ultrasound wand entered him, it didn't hurt but it felt weird and made him uncomfortable.
"Thanks for coming in on short notice, Doc."
Dr. Saito kept her eyes on the screen, "Not a problem, you and the baby are a priority. I've got a lifetime to catch up on sleep. Tell me again how this happened."
"We were driving the SUV down a country road and a deer ran out in front of us so I slammed on the breaks and got that bruise from the seat belt and by nailing my gut on the steering wheel. It was a close call."
She narrowed her eyes as she studied the Omega's face for deception, "It's a pretty severe bruise, Dean." He was stone faced, it was impossible to tell so she took him at his word. Next she looked to Castiel, the Alpha kept eye contact with her. There were no signs of guilt on his face or in his body language.
Cas volunteered, "I wasn't wearing my seat belt…I know that was stupid", he hoped that was enough to explain his black and blue face.
Castiel watched the doctor with great interest as the woman moved the wand gentle inside his wife's vagina, "Why are you doing the ultrasound this way?"
"It's so early in the pregnancy that this is the best way to see what I need to see. Ah, there we go."
Cas and Dean looked at the screen in unison when they heard the baby's heartbeat.
The doctor pointed out the yolk sac, There, that is the yolk sac and the fetal pole…you can see the heart beating. Everything looks very normal and the pregnancy is progressing nicely."
Castiel visibly relaxed and his tight expressed turned into a smile. Dean was completely relieved, he didn't care about his bruises or pain, he'd had a lot of that over the years, it was the baby who was important.
The doctor took some measurements to get a better idea of Dean's due date, "I would say you'll be due around the first week of March. I'll check again as the fetus develops."
She removed the invasive wand from Dean's vagina then covered him with his gown.
Castiel had one last question for her, "Did you see any sign of a penis?"
"You know it's much too early for that."
"I know…I just thought there might be a nubbin'…"
Dean, burst into laughter, "nubbin'" was just too funny a word. That and his husband was hella cute when his husband acted all shy. "Nubbin', man, you are so freakin' adorable."
…..
That night, Cas and Dean spent the evening on the porch of their old farmhouse along with Grace. Grace was fighting sleep just in case the monster came to their house and tried to hurt them.
After bribing Grace with milk and animal crackers, Cas, did his best to convince her, the monsters were dead. The tot was unusually quiet as she clung to her daddy. Castiel's voice was especially calming and with her ear pressed to his chest, she heard not only his words but the soothing rumble.
The Alpha toyed with her soft curls which had started out blonde but now was starting to darken. "You know, Gracie, Mommy and I got rid of the monsters and you'll never see them again."
She tilted her head back to look up at him and could just make out his features in the moonlight, "No masures?"
"Nope." It was a lie in a way, there were always going to monsters.
Satisfied with that, Grace nodded, "Masures all gone."
…
A few months later…
Dean carefully balanced the bowl of cheesy puffs on his prominent belly as he read one of the questions sent to him by a reader. He always read them out loud to Grace.
He'd been approached by Barbara Leech to write a sort of "Dear Abby" column for a newly launched magazine, Modern Omega Teen, Dean had been adamant he was not a writer and didn't think he was right for the job.
Barbara said he was perfect for the position since Dean seemed to have had more life experiences than most teens, Dean told her, that was an understatement.
Barbara finally won him over when she said, "Just be yourself, be Dean Winchester Novak and don't hold back. These kids look up to you. Ever since the wedding photos and articles about you and Castiel, I get requests for updates on your life and it's mostly from young people in an age range of twelve to twenty. These kids need someone like you to represent them."
With Castiel's blessing, Dean took the job. He could work at home and only had to do six questions a month for each issue. It was easy peasy and gave them extra income since Dean lost the construction job with Benny due to pregnancy.
Grace patted a sticky, strawberry jam covered hand on the computer screen. She liked this time with Mommy.
"Dear Dean, I have a crush on this guy in my class but he doesn't know I exist, how can I get him to notice me?" he looked to his daughter, "What do yah think, Gracie?"
She licked the jam off the screen.
"No, I think telling the kid to lick the guy is going a little overboard." He poked gently at his belly, "What do you think?" When he felt the baby shift, the Omega forgot all about his work. They were going in soon to find out the sex of their baby so Dean had babies on the brain.
All of Dean's regrets in the beginning, not using protection, losing his construction job and with it a new sort of freedom, were gone. Omegas were hardwired this way just as females were, only Omegas took it one step further; there was no life outside of preservation of the family during pregnancy and while many women worked outside the home, if an Omega had a supportive enough mate, he was expected to stay home and nest. Dean working from home was a way around this and one of the reasons he took this job in the first place.
To Dean's credit, he actually put a lot of thought into his answers, running them past Castiel to get an Alphas take on the situation but in the end, deciding on his own what to write. He was starting to enjoy it. The "Dear Dean" column took off like wildfire and Dean was proud of himself, almost as proud as Castiel.
He closed the laptop and placed the bowl of cheesy puffs on the coffee table. Dean was missing Castiel and decided to surprise him at work.
"Grace, how about I drop you off at Grandma's, you can play with Alex and Holly."
He didn't have to say it twice; Grace was at the door with her coat in five seconds flat. Alex was her bestie and Gammy always had the best treats like homemade cookies, plus she and Alex got to do fun exercises with Gammy but the very best thing ever was Sammy's new dog, Holly, a black lab he rescued from the shelter just a few weeks ago.
….
All three Omegas had their eyes glued to the handsome waiter, as he recited the specials in his deep, gravel voice that could make a desert wet. At least one of them was thinking about more than the halibut special. Castiel had learned by working yet another summer at Bello's Bistro, that he was much more than a waiter, he was eye candy. Almost every Omega, female and gay man who came in, rarely exited the restaurant without leaving Cas a big, fat tip and sometimes a phone number scrawled on the check.
Castiel was excellent at his job, hardworking and efficient but this was temporary until school would begin in just a few short weeks. Salvatore and Terry complimented him often for bringing in business, always being on time and taking initiative. Though he was paid a paltry waiters wages, the tips he brought home every night for his family was more than worth the hard work. Also, Cas got one free meal on his shift as a bonus, Dean and Grace were given a free meal when they came in as long as Cas was working.
Salvatore had a bond with Dean; he respected the young man for his bravery and toughness. With Martin, Sal's son, as Adams father figure, Sam and Dean were also part of the family. They all held secret pasts and sometimes secrets acted as a bond between people, depending on the how dark the secrets were.
"The halibut is fresh and delicious; a nice, moist, meaty fish that still maintains its delicacy." Castiel gave the three cougar age Omegas a smile as he waited for them to decide. Smiling was important with this job.
One of them let out a weird giggle, weird because of his masculine voice, "Do you like nice, moist, meaty fish?"
He answered in all innocence, "I love it and halibut is a favorite of mine. The other special today is a house made Italian spicy sausage with peppers and onions over homemade pasta."
"Mmm, we love sausage!" More giggles.
From behind Cas came a familiar voice, "Hi, Husband."
Dean gave the three letches a hard look, "Better get that order in Cas, before these three get any older."
The Omegas hated the uppity, extra pretty teenager immediately. Cas would not receive good tips from this table and he knew it. He was perturbed with his wife. He shooed Dean away, "My break isn't for awhile, go find yourself a snack."
Dean first went to the busy kitchen where he tried to get his snack from whatever they were cooking. He managed to snag a couple meatballs before he was once again shooed away by Anthony, the head chef. "Come back later, Dean, this is the lunch rush and I have no time for your grazing." The large, sweaty Beta then said something in Italian and Dean could tell by his tone, it wasn't very nice, so he left to check out the cooler and pantry.
…..
"Gotta craving for peanut butter and chocolate…maybe they got some of that peanut butter pie with cookie crust, hell, I could eat a whole one of those." Dean's eyes widened when he spied four of them just sitting there inside the cooler case as if they knew he was coming for them. He took a quick look around before taking an entire pie.
"Can't get caught…Sal will kick my ass right after Cas does," He found an excellent hiding spot to indulge among the steel shelving. The Omega sat down and got right into eating that pie.
He was about halfway through it when he heard the heavy, insulated door open up and what sounded like two sets of footsteps.
"I am so going to fuck you, you wet little slut."
"Baby, you know I'm only a slut for you."
Dean peered over around the corner and when he saw who it was, his eyes got as big as a peanut butter pie, "Awesome…"
