Castiel heard Dean calling out for him as soon as he walked in the door. Stripping off his winter clothes as he went, he ran to the bedroom and found Dean in a squat over a bed of pillows as he held onto the honeymoon stripper pole. The Omega was shivering from the cold but dripping with sweat and obviously in distress.

"Cas, my water broke and the baby is coming."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes I'm fucking sure, this kid wants out. Dean, white knuckled the pole, "help me!"

When Castiel tried to help him up Dean just held on tighter, "No! No, this is easier; just…just make sure the baby doesn't hit the floor." Tears were streaming down the brave Omega's flushed freckled face but he held back on the screaming as much as possible to keep his concentration and it wasn't easy. Dean grit his teeth and concentrated on his breathing.

Castiel, right on the cusp of a freak out, mentally stepped outside of himself and this way his mind stayed calm and focused. He knelt behind Dean, hands beneath the Omega waiting for the baby to emerge, all the while coaching the teen, as he did during Graces birth.

This baby was determined to come out and there was no stopping him. As the head crowned, the young father got nose to the ground in order to see exactly what was happening, "Dean, he's coming…give a push, the shoulders are almost there."

"Sonofabitchfuckinghellthisfuckinghurts!" With one last mighty push , their son Jack was born into this world. As soon as Castiel had the baby in hand, Dean collapsed to the hardwood floor. He was exhausted.

Cas gently rubbed his son down with a towel both to clean and to stimulate the newborn. Jacks reedy little wails began to fill the room; it was pure music to his parents ears.

Dean held out his arms, "Give him to me," Castiel lay squalling little Jack on his mother's chest.

The Alpha didn't have time to gush over their boy, at least not yet; there were important things to be done. He ran to the bathroom and grabbed a bottle of rubbing alcohol, then went in search of something proper to tie off the umbilical cord before cutting. He found his mother's old sewing kit inside the hall closet and picked out a spool of old silk thread, then set everything on the nightstand next to Dean's pocket knife.

Dean's voice sounded weary and nervous, "What do we do now?"

"I read up on all of this when you were carrying Grace. We need to wait until all the blood has pumped through the umbilical cord and it collapses before I tie it off and cut. The placenta will come out on its own so let's give this just a little time." He tried once again to lift Dean off the floor and to the bed but the Omega was afraid to move.

Once the cord collapsed, Castiel tied off and cut. The placenta expelled a little over an hour after that and it seemed to be intact. Now that Jack was completely free of his mother, Castiel took him from Dean and then helped his wife into bed. Dean held out his arms, "I wanna feed Jack." Once guided to a nipple, Jack latched on and took to suckling immediately. Watching his baby nurse pushed the Omega into instinctual full maternal bliss, even the pain Dean was feeling was dulled just from the act of nourishing their son.

Now the Alpha could relax and gently examine his son, "Ten fingers and toes, good lungs, healthy pink and perhaps I am a little biased but I believe our Jack is the most beautiful baby boy in God's universe."

Castiel stood on the porch, holding his cell phone toward the heavens as he searched for a signal. The storm was winding down and he hoped by morning he'd be able to call for assistance. Though the vehicle had all wheel drive, the snow was excessively deep and he wasn't willing to risk trying to drive them out unless it was necessary. If they went off the road it could be a disaster.

As soon as Cas entered the bedroom, the first question out of Dean's mouth was "did you get a signal", the Alpha forced a smile as he told Dean that by morning there would be a signal and they would be out by the afternoon.

By morning the snow had tapered but hadn't completely stopped. This meant no signal at their little cabin surrounded by trees laden with snow.

Castiel made Dean scrambled eggs and toast in addition to the Omega's first cup of real coffee since he'd become pregnant. Cas was sure to add a dose of cream and maple syrup. He used a folded flour sack dish towel as a diaper for tiny Jack and secured it with a large safety pin from the sewing kit. The Alpha waited for Dean to finish eating and then assisted him to the bathroom, despite the Omegas complaints that he could do it on his own.

Once Dean was tucked back in bed with the baby, Cas tossed some bottles of water and a handful of energy bars in a backpack before dressing in layers to protect him from the elements.

Dean watched with a frown as his mate prepared to leave them, "Can't you wait until the snow stops?"

"No, I need to find a clearing for a signal and bar that; I'll hike over to that fancy cabin and get help. I saw smoke coming from that way so I know someone's there."

"But that's like two miles away and the snow is so deep!"

"Don't worry about me. I'm very fit and have plenty of endurance. I want you and Jack out of here as soon as possible."

Just as after Grace was born, Dean felt very needy for Castiel and though he hated this neediness in himself there was no fighting nature, he wanted his Alpha with him at all costs.

"Don't wanna be without you."

Castiel foolishly looked into his wife's beautiful, dewy green eyes that were filled with worry but Cas managed to stayed strong, "I'm going and that is final."

….

A mile into his hike, Cas held up his cell phone, "Damn, not even a full bar." He hiked all the way to the country road then decided to go the distance and get help at the fancy cabin. He fell a few a times and once rolled completely to the bottom of a ravine and clawed his way back up after digging out his hiking poles. By the time he staggered his way up the log cabin steps to the charming cabin door, Castiel was spent.

Before Castiel could even knock, the front door swung open and standing there was a stout, weathered woman, pointing a shotgun directly at him.

….

Jack's cupid bow lips made an O as he let out a yawn. He was full, warm and safely cuddled between the mother's slight breasts. Dean toyed with the chick fluff that constituted the baby's hair, "You've got a big sister, Gracie, and you'll know her voice right away from all that time she spent tot babbling to you, against my belly. You've also got an Uncle Sammy, Gammy Scotty, Grandpa Spencer, and then there's Alex…let's just say he's a brother since Gracie call's him that, oh and a there is another baby coming soon but I don't know anything about her yet."

The rumble and tone of his mother's voice sent Jack sent Jack into dreamland.

"There is Uncle Bobby and his family, Javier, Benny and the twins and a whole bunch of people who want to meet you." Dean's voice softened, "There is something else I'll tell you now but I won't tell you again until I absolutely have to…there are ghosts, monsters and all sorts of bad things out there, including people, but I promise I'll always protect you from the bad things as long as I live. It's not all bad though; there are lots of awesome things out there too, but as your dad says, forearmed is forewarned.

Dean kissed Jack's little soft spot, "You and your sister won't end up like me and Sammy…one shitty parent and one dead parent. You guys will be loved and taken care of always, but if something ever happened, you've got an extended family who loves you."

Dean looked out the window to see the snow had stopped and the icicles along the roof were dripping, "I hope your daddy is ok."

Castiel sipped the mug of hot cocoa with utter guilt as the sweet drink did its work and warmed up his insides. There wasn't much to do at this point, his savior; Alice Aholoki had called for assistance with her ham radio.

After that she was sure to berate the foolish young man for not checking the NWS before deciding to go to his cabin and for bringing along his pregnant wife and the cherry on the stupid sundae, for not having his own alternate way to communicate in case of an emergency.

"The sheriff called for a snowplow, snowcat and ambulance."

"Is Dick Halloran going to be driving the snowcat?" his attempt at movie trivia humor was met with a deadpan expression from the no nonsense woman. "You know, the chef from The Shining…never mind." "Dean would have thought that was funny…god, I miss you and Jack so much…."

Dr. Saito listened in amazement to Castiel and Dean's harrowing tale of the snowstorm, the birth in a cabin in the woods, Cas' search for help and finally the rescue.

"I don't know why this story amazes me so much; it seems par for the course with you two."

Dean grimaced, "Yeah that's us, nothing goes normally."

The doctor ran her finger across the healthy baby's pink cheek, "You'll have a good story to tell Jack when he's older."
