Alex ran through the forest, desperate to find a shelter. The small horde was close behind and he knew the Whisperers were inside. They had killed his uncle, Mark, and burned down his house. "We will find you..." Alex heard them chanting, but he had to keep going. "We will find you..."
Meanwhile, at the Hilltop, Daryl and the others were fighting off Alpha and her horde. Hilltop was in flames, but Judith and RJ were still inside. Daryl rushed through the fire, trying to find them. Judith and RJ snuck out the back and into the woods, where they found a tired and injured Alex. " Who are you?" Judith questioned sternly. "It doesn't matter. I'm going to die anyways." Alex gestured to his sliced arm, which was bleeding rapidly. "Not if I can do anything about it." Judith pulled him into the Hilltop, where she saw Daryl, scrambling around to find her. "Daryl! Help me!" she exclaimed. Daryl ran to her, and saw Alex. "Who is this?" Daryl asked. "I don't know, but he's going to be dead soon if we don't help him." Judith was not going to take no for an answer so she didn't even to listen to what Daryl had. to say. Daryl reluctantly decided to help Alex, but he had to get them out of the Hilltop first. A large section of the wall was gone, so he helped the three others get to a safe area. "Stay here, I'm getting help."
Negan was on the other side of the battle with Alpha. "Fire the arrows, now." She whispered to him. He pulled the string, and the flaming arrow whisked through the air into the battle. He could hear the piercing screams of the fighters as they burned to death. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but he had a plan. Alpha gestured to stop firing, and he threw the bow down. The sun started to rise, and the flames started to simmer. Alpha took Negan and led him into the forest, and then further to a shack. Negan knew this was his chance. "I have found that you are reliable." Alpha said, softly. "I would like to promote you, in a sense." She put him on his knees, and he bowed his head. "You are the Beta." Negan stood up and looked her in the eyes. "I'd prefer to be the Alpha." He whispered in her ear, and then he swiftly stabbed her. She let out a groan, and fell to the floor. "You are a liar. I overestimated you." She yelled at him, but he still looked at her with a fire in his eyes. "Well, next time, don't." He grabbed Lucille and smashed her head in, leaving only a mess of blood.
Aaron, Jerry, Carol, and Ezekiel were all fighting off the walkers when they heard a loud blast. Negan appeared from the forest, carrying Alpha's shotgun. "Move, now!" Negan exclaimed, shooting the walkers. Jerry and Carol went inside the Hilltop to find Daryl, but Ezekiel and Aaron stayed to help. "What are you doing, showing up here like it's just okay?" Aaron mumbled, wiping blood off his face. "I got her." Negan said. "I got that son of a-" He got tackled to the ground, but he couldn't see who got him. "You idiot. You don't do that to the Alpha." Beta was on top of Negan, holding a knife to his throat. "You never betray the Alpha." Ezekiel rushed up to him and kicked him off of Negan. "He never should have betrayed us either, but we still let him live." Ezekiel proclaimed, while indicating for Negan to leave. Aaron and Ezekiel took his mask off, and threw him to the walkers. "You can't do this to me!" Beta shrieked, but his words were soon muffled by the groans and biting of the walkers.
The rest of the whisperers were now dead, amongst the fallen horde. "Who are you?" Judith asked Alex once again, in the ruins of Hilltop. "I'm Alex." He muttered, wanting to leave. "To be more specific, a nobody who lost his uncle about two weeks ago. But that doesn't matter, because the person who killed him is dead, so it all works out, ya know?" Judith looked at him like he was crazy. "Nothing really works out." She declared. Judith got up and left, leaving Alex alone and defeated.
