Castiel turned to see who was calling his name.

The teacher was completely astonished to see Renee Durand, his former flame. For the Omega it seemed as if time had stood still. His thick, dirty blonde hair had no hints of grey and his amber eyes were still as luminous and mesmerizing as ever. Even the lines that appeared in the corners when he flashed Castiel a smile made him all the more attractive. He also had filled out in all the right places and if Castiel had to guess, it was from motherhood.

This was the same person Castiel used to worship, the one who broke the inexperienced young college student's heart into a million little pieces.

Renee's smile waned when Cas failed to return the smile.

"I know this must be a shock to see me after all of these years."

The best the Alpha could come up with was, "Why are you here?"

The Omega maintained eye contact, never wavering from the intense, blue eyes locked onto to him. But then Castiel, even as a nineteen year old, wet behind the ears, young Alpha, had been intense and also complicated, beautiful and unspoiled by the world, everything that had attracted Renee to him in the first place.

"I'm the new office administrator."

Principle Green came over and placed a hand on Renee's shoulder and one on Castiel's, "Good, you met the new office administrator."

Castiel nodded, "Yes."

Renee stopped nervously fidgeting with his lanyard, "Castiel and I go way back. Well, if you'll excuse me, I've have things to do."

…..

Dean kept glancing over at Alfie in disbelief, the kid was singing to some sixties chick group song that from the chorus must have been called "Best of My Love". The Omega was even doing dance moves with his arms while wiggling his hips on the passenger seat.

Normally Dean would consider this blasphemy but Alfie had moped around the entire morning so when he pulled a mixed tape out of thin air and popped in, Dean let it slide.

When the song ended, Dean sighed in relief.

"You'll like the next one, it's of Sam's favorites," he looked at Dean with his saucer sized baby blues and Dean caved.

"One more and that's it. On the ride home it's my music, got it?"

"Got it."

….

Sam went in on his day off to get ahead of some research for a senior partner and prove his worth for the firm, but by lunchtime when he opened the slapped together bag lunch Alfie made him from leftovers, he missed his mate so much he decided to leave early and surprise his Omega with flowers and candy. Alfie had developed a sweet tooth recently and it wouldn't hurt to indulge him.

It wasn't lost on Sam that something was going on with Alfie. He'd been acting different lately. The normally bubbly Omega seemed to carrying an invisible weight on his shoulders but as of yet he hadn't told Sam what made him so sad. Sam asked of course but the answer was always, "nothing's wrong."

Even his scent and taste was somewhat different. Sam hadn't encountered something like this before in an Omega he had been intimate with. Whatever was going on, he had to find out.

….

The Alpha selected a bouquet of budget friendly, colorful daises from the flower stand inside their local supermarket and a jumbo Cadbury bar from the candy aisle.

"My Heart Will Go On" began to play softly over the speakers though Sam could barely hear it over the din around him. He took it as a sign that leaving early was the right thing to do because Alfie surely must be thinking of him and missing Sam just as much.

…..

"Your here, there's nothing I fear and my heart will go on, we'll stay forever this way and my heart will go oooooon…" Alfie belted out the last of one of the sappiest songs in the history of music.

Dean pulled in front of Wiggly Pharmacy and cut the engine, thus ending his torture.

Alfie wandered down the Omega hygiene aisle, checking out everything it had to offer. He rarely took his time, usually grabbing what he wanted to purchase and then get out as soon as possible but today he felt emboldened with a stronger, bigger Omega at his side. He studied the outside of a box containing a breast pump and showed it to Dean, "did you ever use one of these?"

"I was almost always with my babies to nurse them. You have to remember I was just a teenager when Gracie came along, I used one once in awhile after I had Jack." Dean's chiseled features softened and his green eyes got misty. Alfie rarely saw the older Omega act this way. Even Dean's voice sounded different.

"Think you'll ever have more kids?"

"No, two is plenty." Just like that he was back to the old Dean. Alfie kinda liked soft Dean better.

It took Alfie a half hour to pick out a pregnancy test. He settled on one that claimed to have the earliest detection out of all of them. On his way to the counter he tossed in a copy of Omega's Home Journal, a box of junior mints, a portable sewing kit and deodorant as if those things would distract the clerk from the fact he was buying a pregnancy test.

Alfie hurried out of the pharmacy, clutching the bag to his chest, got in the Impala and locked his door.

….

Dean put the last of the groceries in the fridge for Alfie, "Need some help cooking dinner or maybe hang around while you see if there's a bun in your oven?"

Alfie hugged Dean, "Sam should be the first to know. Thank you for everything, Dean, I love you."

Dean patted him on the back, "I uh, I love yah too. Let me know what happens, ok?"

"Ok."

….

"Dean enjoys fun size candy bars…"

Castiel placed the jumbo bag in the shopping cart alongside the newest issue of Popular Mechanics, a cherry pie and a dvd of "A Fist Full of Dollars" from the bargain bin.

Seeing Renee again and learning the Omega would be working in the same place as him had disturbed Castiel and bought up a lot of old memories of what was going on in his life back then, things he never really dealt with.

He looked down at the items in his cart, all of them for Dean. Castiel knew they were guilt gifts though he had nothing to feel guilty about. He just needed to see his wife smile. Dean's smile was a balm for the soul.

…..

Sam noticed the wonderful smell of something delicious in the oven as soon as he walked in. Alfie was busy in the kitchen peeling apples for the fruit tart while the casserole was baking.

He was wearing Sam's tattered old robe the Alpha wore in college. The well worn flannel had become a favorite of the Omega's. Sam enjoyed how his cast offs looked like dresses on Alfie and how much comfort they gave him.

He held out the flowers and jumbo candy bar to his mate, "Surprise."

Alfie went to Sam and hugged him tight, "You came home early. I missed you."

"I missed you too. Smells like you made one of my favorites and you're baking, what's the special occasion?"

"I'll ask you the same thing; you don't bring me candy and flowers every day."

Sam lifted him and Alfie wrapped his legs around Sam's waist. They touched foreheads and both smiled.

"You deserve candy and flowers every day."

"Sam, after dinner let's talk…really talk."

"I'd like that."
