A/N Hi guys. Booknerd here. So, it has been a long while, I apologize. This challenge was something lunar and I were doing together and I haven't heard from her in a long while. But we started this challenge and I plan to finish it :) I hope you guys enjoy the rest of the oneshots and I am sorry it's been so long.
Now let's get this show on the road
I own nothing, it all belongs to Uncle Rick
N is for New Rome
It was a lovely breezy day at Camp Jupiter. The brave demigods were resting up and some of them were preparing to head back to Camp Half-Blood. Annabeth had already packed her things and was looking for Percy. She found him sitting in the bottom of the Tiber river. She sat on the little wooden dock and waited for him to come up. Instead, he motioned for her to come down. Annabeth slowly lowered herself into the water and was immediately immersed in a air bubble.
"Hey."
"I've been looking for you. I should have looked here first."
"I just needed a place to think."
Annabeth sat beside Percy and grabbed his hands. "What's going on in that head of yours?"
"I just... I keep thinking that maybe we should stay here. It's a safe place where we can go to school, be together, grow together. We wouldn't have to face monsters all the time."
Annabeth doesn't say anything, just grips his hand tighter.
"I'm so tired of being a pawn. I just want to live my life the way I want to. That would be possible here, we would be safe, we would be happy."
"But for how long?"
"What?" Percy turns to look at her.
"How long would we be happy? I understand being tired, Percy. I've been running since I was a child. I was safe at Camp Half-Blood, but I was also hiding. I ran away. Until you came along. You convinced me to stop hiding, to go live with my dad. Just because we're safe doesn't mean we would be happy."
"But it would be a lot easier."
"When has our life ever been easy? Easy is boring. We could succeed here, but we could do great things out in the world."
Percy nuzzled his face into Annabeth's neck. "You're right."
"Common on, let's go up and get you packed."
"But first..."
Percy cupped her face and kissed her. They pulled away, grinning, and kicked up to the surface.
A couple hours later, Percy and Annabeth had said goodbye to their new friends and were standing at the exit.
"Are you sure about this?" Percy asked her, gripping her hand.
"Oh, yeah, definitely sure."
"I'll go with you anywhere, Wise Girl. I love you."
"I love you, Seaweed Brain."
"We're in this together."
"Bring on the monsters."
"Bring on the real world."
And with that, the couple walked towards their future.
A/N I couldn't write this without including a quote from the Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief Musical. Has anyone seen it? I saw it last summer and holy cow I love it so so much. I cried when Chris McCarrel first slid on stage as Percy. I was like "oh man it's real it's in front of me omgggg." I sang the entire time (sorry to the lady beside me lol) Anyway, I hope y'all enjoyed that. The idea came to me after drinking my first ever mocha, which I don't normally drink coffee so I'm super hyper right now. Anyway, thanks for reading! Don't forget to review, favorite, and/or follow!
Until next time, lovelies.
May the fandom be with you :)
