Gone but never forgotten 12

Kind of a filler chapter and I'm sorry—- also sorry it took a little longer i had a lot of homework this week

The breakfast table was quiet aside from the scraping of utensils to plates. Regina sat at one end of the table, Emma and Snow on either side of her.

Snow cleared her throat, "I met someone..."

Regina looked up at Snow with interest, "oh?"

Snow blushed, "his name is David, he lives on a farm with his mother and- well I invited them for dinner..."

Emma looked from Regina to Snow.

"They live close, just a few hours carriage so I thought it would be okay... but if it's not I can send message to cancel. I'm sorry I should have asked first—"

"Snow it's fine, you're more than welcome to invite whoever you wish. This is your home." Regina swallowed hard, despite the newfound freedom she felt even with the castle it still didn't feel like her home.

"My mother and father should be here today as well. We'll have a proper dinner, Emma, invite Robin and John and we'll have Red and Granny join us, it'll be lovely." Regina stood from the table then and excused herself, "I have some business to attend to I will see you both later."

Then she was gone, her cane clicking as she left.

Emma looked at her now empty seat, noticing that her plate was untouched.

Regina sat in her office at her desk drowning in stacks of parchment and scrolls.

Pregnant...

No.

She shakes her head and looks back at the scrolls.

A knock sounds from the door.

"Come in!" She calls and a moment later the door opens. Regina looks up from her scrolls to see Emma standing in the doorway with a plate of cookies and tea.

"Hi..." Emma said awkwardly.

"Hello. Come on in, sit down." Regina said and motioned for Emma to sit across from her desk.

"I noticed you didn't eat your breakfast so I brought you up a little snack."

Regina smiled sweetly at her and took the tray.

"Thank you..."

Emma looked around at all the papers.

"Seems like you have a lot to do so I'll just-"

"Stay." Regina interrupted. "I mean... if you want to I wouldn't mind the company."

Emma smiled at her a cocky sort of half smirk and kicked back in the chair, letting her feet rest on the desk, Regina rolled her eyes playfully.

Regina slowly snacked on the cookies and sipped the tea as she and Emma chatted.

Some hours later a knock sounded once again from the door.

"Come in." Regina called.

A maid entered, "Your Majesty, your parents are arriving."

Regina nodded her thanks and stood from the desk, taking Emma's hand in her own and leaving the study.

Henry was anxious to see his beloved daughter, Cora had told him all that had happened and he simply wished to hold her. When they arrived at the castle he rushed inside as Cora instructed the staff to unload the carriage.

As soon as he walked in her saw her, she was walking toward him looking beautiful, weight resting on a cane and her hand intertwined with a blonde woman's.

"Daddy!" She called and began toward him faster. The blonde let her hand drop with a smile.

"Oh amorcito! How I've missed you." He hugged her tightly and she nearly melted into his embrace.

"And I you daddy..." she whispered.

After a long moment Regina finally pulled back and looked back to the blonde. "Daddy, this is Emma, Emma my father Henry."

"It's a pleasure to meet you sir." Emma said and struck her hand out to shake his. He took it and smiled at her gratefully. "Thank you so much for saving my little girl."

Emma blushes, "well it was my honor." Regina grabs Emma's hand once again and squeezes tightly. Before the conversation can continue the main door open again and Cora entered.

"Hello mother." Regina said and gave her mother a kiss on the cheek.

"Hello my darling, how are you feeling?" Cora looked her up and down, as if making sure the healing spell hadn't worn off.

"I'm good mother, no need for your worries, you healed me well." Regina assured her with a smile.

Cora frowned harshly at the cane. She didn't like that her young daughter would be stuck with a crutch for the rest of her life. Regina noticed.

"Mother, please, it's really okay, let's go get ready for dinner, we're having a bit of a dinner party. Snow invited a young man that I think she has a crush on and his mother and I asked Granny and Red to join us, as well as Emma's men and you both of course." Regina turned and tugged Emma along by the hand. Cora and Henry following with a raised eyebrow at the clear display of affection.

Snow waited anxiously by the cobble stone path for David and his mother to arrive. She had dressed up in a puffy pink gown that shifted back and forth as she paced nervously.

She could hear the clicking of horse hooves before she saw them. Looking up instantly she searched with her eyes until she spotted the small cart approaching. The cart stops at the base of the steps where Snow waits and David climbs down. He's dressed in a navy coat and slacks just a bit to small for him his hair is brushed back and his face clean. Snow smiles at him sweetly. Ruth steps down from the carriage a moment later, a kind looking woman with dark curly hair, she wears a soft yellow dress and smiles at Snow with a soft curtsy.

Snow smiles at them both before speaking, "Please come in! We're just about ready for supper but I can give you a bit of a tour?"

David nods enthusiastically, "that would be awesome!"

They both follow Snow inside where Regina is awaiting them.

Instantly upon seeing the Queen they both bow.

"Oh please, rise. Hello, welcome to our home, it's such a pleasure to have you." She took Ruth's hand in her own and smiled at her then she turned to David. "And you must but David, a pleasure, Snow has told me so much about you."

Snow blushed and grumbled slightly at Regina. "Come on David, I'll give you a tour!" She said and grabbed his arm pulling him after her.

Ruth smiled at them. "He hasn't looked so happy in quite some time... I'm glad they've found each other."

"Me to... Snow hasn't looked like this for a very long time I'm afraid but your boy makes her glow."

"I think there is truly something between them- I know they're young of course but-"

"I agree," Regina said, "sometimes you just know." She said with a smile as she thought of Emma.

Regina cleared her throat, "please, come with me we're having some drinks before dinner is served, I'll introduce you to everyone."

They entered the sitting room to find the rest of the guesting laughing and enjoying glasses of wine.

"Everyone this is Ruth, Snows friend David's lovely mother. Ruth this is my mother Cora, my father Henry, my dear friends Granny and Red. This is Robin, John and my- I mean Emma."

Emma blushes slightly before waving to Ruth.

"It's a pleasure to meet you all, thank you so much for having David and I."

"The pleasure is ours." Regina said and motioned for Ruth to take an empty seat, then asked her if she'd like a drink.

"Oh yes thank you." A server quickly provided Ruth with a glass and took her leave, stating that she would be back when dinner was served.

They chatted and got to know each other for about a half an hour until the maid returned to inform them it was time to eat. Everyone followed her closely to the dining hall where Regina led Emma with her to the end of the table and sat Emma right next to her without a word. Cora smirked at the sight, then took the seat across from Emma and Henry next to her. Snow and David entered only a minute later their faves wife with smiles and cheeks pink with blush.

Together they all enjoyed a perfect meal talking pleasantly.
