Chapter 12: Putting It All Together

Hello! It's me, Detroid434. I know what you're thinking. Where's sakuraphoenix? Well... she's taking a break from doing the intro and disclaimer and that she's also been so busy that I'm doing it for her for this chapter. So, onto the disclaimer!

Disclaimer: Sakuraphoenix does not own Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's. Sakuraphoenix also does not own Alex. He belongs to A5L. Lastly, she does not own Grace Baxter either. Grace belongs to me.

So, ENJOY! This will begin in Dawn's point of view

I just finished taking a shower while I went to check up on Sakura, but when I did, she wasn't even here. Then I noticed that her runner was gone, but her tools weren't.

"Sheesh. Pulled an all-nighter again. That girl's gonna end up in the hospital at this rate. I know that Yusei and Sakura are working on some Duel Runner engine, but I'm her sister. She can always count on me. I mean, it's not like I'm gonna be scared or anything." I said as I headed for the kitchen

"Hey Dawn, have you seen Sakura?" Matt asked as he came through the door

He totally caught me off guard as I nearly dropped my tea cup. That was close.

"Hey, haven't you heard of knocking?!" I exclaimed

"The door was unlocked, so I thought I could come in." said Matt

"You mean Sakura left the door unlocked? Man, something must be wrong with her." I said

"Let me guess… she pulled another all-nighter, the third one this week, if I may add, and now has gone AWOL somewhere, and you have no clue where she is." Said Matt

"Yeah. In a nutshell." I said

"People leaving doors open? Someone's gonna waltz in one of these days." A male voice suddenly said

We turned to the door and saw Alex leaning in the door frame. When did he get there?

"Alex!" I exclaimed

"Yo. What's up?" asked Alex

"For starters, how long have you been there?" I asked

"About… ten seconds, give or take." Alex said while entering our apartment

"Oh." I said

"So, I heard that you awakened the last dragon Matt." Alex said while walking up to us

"Yeah, I did." Said Matt

"Great job on it!" exclaimed Alex

"Yeah, but my duel was the weirdest one yet." Said Matt

"Huh?" wondered Alex

"You know that girl with the purple hair? Her name's Akane Tsukimori. We learned that she our friend, Karen's identical twin sister, who probably has amnesia." I said

"What makes you say that?" asked Alex

"For starters, she looked shocked when she saw Karen, like she was looking in a mirror. Secondly, when I told her that Karen was her sister, she denied it, like she never knew. Either she had amnesia from that accident, or it was induced somehow on her." Said Matt

"Or she completely forgot about her sister. Think about it. Karen and Akane were lost at sea when they were kids. Karen was forced to take care of herself without anyone else to help her. As for Akane's case, I think the Orichalcos dudes found her when Karen was stranded. With nowhere else to go, Akane grew up to be a duelist in the care of the people who were with those soul-stealing duelists. But, Orichalcos business aside, how is Sakura?" asked Alex

"To be honest, I have no idea. I don't think the engine's the only thing that's on her mind." I admitted

Sakura's P.O.V.

I was testing the new engine that Yusei had finished.

"Come on! Faster… faster… faster! I need to go faster! If I don't go fast enough, I'll never master the Accel Synchro!" I exclaimed

I was about to push it to the limit when I saw that I was gonna hit the rail! I couldn't hit the brakes in time! Just when I thought it was gonna be game over, someone intercepted me, allowing me to stop before I hit the railing, but it did a number on both mine and the other rider's paint jobs. The other rider's Duel Runner was purple, but it had pink and orange stripes on it. The rider was wearing a matching riding suit, but when the rider took off her helmet, I immediately recognized the rider. She had purple hair with pink highlights, but it wasn't styled like Karen's hair, or Akane's. Her hair was shoulder-length, but since she was wearing a helmet, she had worn it long. It's been years since I last saw you.

"Grace Baxter?" I asked

"It's been a while, Sakura Phoenix." Said Grace

"What are you doing here?" I asked

"Honestly, just looking for someone to duel. So I hear that someone's been training for the WRGP." Said Grace

"Says who? We haven't really talked much since we met." I said

*Flashback*

Dawn and I just got out of the movie theater when a girl with long purple hair with pink highlights hid behind a dumpster in the alley. A few moments later, Sayer walked up to us.

"Good evening Miss Dawn and Miss Sakura." Said Sayer

"Sayer. What do you want?" I asked

"Nothing from you two at least. I'm looking for someone who may have just ran by here. Have you seen this person?" asked Sayer

"Yeah. She went that way." I said while pointing behind my back

He ran in the direction I pointed out, and after he was out of earshot, I called into the alley saying:

"He's gone."

The girl peeked out of the alley before running up to me and Dawn.

"Thank you so much! I didn't want that man to find me." Said the girl

"No prob. I don't like him much either. My name's Sakura, Sakura Phoenix. This is my sister, Dawn." I said

"Hello." Said Dawn

"Nice to meet you. My name is Grace, Grace Baxter." Said Grace

*End Flashback*

"Yeah, not exactly the best first impression you could give a girl, but you didn't tell Sayer where I was hiding, so, I can let it slide." Said Grace

"Hey, I hate Captain Nutjob just as much as anyone else. By the way, did you hear the news about him? I know that it's your business to be in the know." I said

"What news?" asked Grace

I tossed her my smart pen, and she read the newspaper clipping I saved in there.

"Hmm… 'Former leader of the Arcadia Movement, Sayer Divine, has been placed in the Facility under charges of mass murder and disappearances. Using documents found after the collapse of the Arcadia Movement headquarters, Sayer has been convicted of multiple felonies.' Whoa! Man, how did you find this?" asked Grace

"Look at the part where it says 'written by'." I said

"Hmm… written by Carly Carmine. Wait a minute. What's this part…? Hmm… 'From the moment I laid eyes on Sayer, I knew he was bad news. After discovering the truth about him and his Arcadia Movement, I tried to let the world know about his plans, but no one would listen. I cannot say I am surprised for the news of his imprisonment. Sayer has hunted me and my family for years, now for the first time in a long time; I can sleep at ease,' as quoted by Sakura Phoenix.' Man, you know a reporter?" asked Grace

"She's a friend, unlike Angela. I swear, she's a walking world war." I said

"Well, got a place where we can talk more privately, and fix the paint job on our runners? I got some cans of paint in my runner for these kind of emergencies." Said Grace

"In that case, I know one place where we can fix up our runners." I said

I drove my runner with Grace following me to a parking lot, but it was the best place for a view of the city.

"Yusei?" I asked

"Sakura. What are you doing here?" asked Yusei

"I ran into an old friend, literally. You can tell by the paint jobs on our runners." I said

"Oh man. That doesn't look too good. You were training to succeed with you-know-what?" asked Yusei

"Yeah. I'm probably having worse luck than you." I said

"Actually, I'm not doing so hot myself." Said Yusei

"Hey, Sakura! You gonna help me out with the paint or what?!" exclaimed Grace

"Uh, right! Sorry." I said as I ran over to her

"Geez, if I didn't know better, I'd say that you and Yusei Fudo were going out or something." Said Grace

"Yeah, I know. But Yusei's just a friend, besides, another friend of mine likes him, like, you know." I said

"Yeah, I know what you mean." Said Grace

"Sakura! There you are! We've been looking everywhere for you!" exclaimed Dawn

I turned to see Dawn, Matt, and Alex. When did they get here?

"Dawn. Matt. Alex. What's up?" I asked

"What's up is that we've been worried about you. Can't we come and check in on you every now and then?" asked Dawn

"Oh. Sorry." I said while looking away

"Sorry is not gonna cut it! You've been acting strange since the duel Matt had against Akane. The Orichalcos isn't the only thing that's been on your mind lately, has it?" asked Dawn

"Did you just say Orichalcos?" Grace asked as she raised her head

"Yikes! Grace, when did you get there?!" exclaimed Dawn

"I thought so. You guys know about the Seal of Orichalcos, don't you?" asked Grace

"How do you…" I started

"Know about it? Some thugs tried to ambush me with that card. I won the duel though, it was a close call if you ask me." Said Grace

"How so?" I asked

"Well, you see this card that never appeared in my deck before showed up when I dueled the guy." Said Grace

I wonder… did she receive a Dragon card too?

"Okay, I think I get the idea. Grace, think you're up for a duel?" Dawn asked as she strapped on her duel disk

"Did ya have to ask? I was born ready!" Grace said while strapping on her duel disk

"Let's duel!" Grace and Dawn exclaimed in unison

Grace LP 4000/ Dawn LP 4000

"I'll start this off Dawn! And I think I'll start my turn with Jet the Master in attack mode! (ATK: 1800/ DEF: 1900/ LV: 4) Now his special ability activates! Since he was summoned, I can select one card on your side of the field, and destroy it, but since you don't have any cards, well, it's my loss. I'm ending my turn with a face-down." Said Grace

Grace LP 4000/ Dawn LP 4000

"I'm up! Talk about a bad hand. I summon Destiny Hero – Defender in defense mode! (ATK: 100/ DEF: 2700/ LV: 4) Next, I activate Double Summon, which allows me to summon out my Destiny Hero – Diamond Dude! (ATK: 1400/ DEF: 1600/ LV: 4) I'm ending my turn there with a face-down!" exclaimed Dawn

Grace LP 4000/ Dawn LP 4000

"My turn. And thanks to your Defender, I can draw an extra card, but this card is what I needed. I activate Mystical Space Typhoon! Say good-bye to your face-down! And now that it's gone, Jet's second ability activates! Since I destroyed a card on your side of the field due to a card effect, I can special summon a Level 5 monster from my deck, so now I special summon Wind Master Shao Khan! (ATK: 2500/ DEF: 2300/ LV: 5) Now his ability activates! Since he was special summoned, you take 500 points of damage for each monster on the field! I count four, so that means 2000 points of damage!" exclaimed Grace

Grace LP 4000/ Dawn LP 2000

"Man, she's relentless." Said Alex

"She runs a deck that she calls 'Legendary Wind' and it's composed mainly of Wind-attribute monsters. I heard a rumor that she has a one-of-a-kind Synchro monster in there." I said

"Are you serious?! So this could be the calm before the storm?" asked Matt

"Unless she has a card in her hand that works like Lightwave Tuning somewhere in her hand, Dawn has nothing to worry about yet." I said

"Now I activate the spell, Wind Changer! This spell allows me to turn one monster on the field into a tuner as long as it's both a Wind monster and its level is 4!" exclaimed Grace

"Okay, I spoke too soon." I sighed

"The monster I select is my Jet the Master! This is where it all ends Dawn! I tune my Jet the Master with Shao Khan!" exclaimed Grace

Suddenly, my mark began to pulse and glow the same time I saw Matt's and Yusei's do the same. What was going on? What were they reacting to? Whatever it was, it has to do with Grace's deck, but then, I noticed a light green glow on Grace's right arm. What in the world is that?!

"When winds of power descend upon the land, a hero rises to tame these winds! Synchro Summon! Tame the skies, Wind Master God! (ATK: 3500/ DEF: 4000/ LV: 9) Sorry Dawn, but this duel is over. I activate Wind Master God's special ability! If you control more monsters than I do, then you take damage equal to the combined level of your monsters times 1000! This will sting, a lot!" Grace exclaimed as Wind Master God's ability struck Dawn

Grace LP 4000/ Dawn LP 0

Dawn was blown back into me. Man, Grace, way to go with your psychic powers.

"Grace, next time, easy on the winds." I groaned

"Sorry. Sometimes I get excited that I'm about to win a duel, so my powers take control. I'm not 100 percent in controlling them, but I'm working on it." Said Grace

"In that case, here." I said while tossing her one of my psychic dampeners

"What's this?" asked Grace

"It's a psychic dampener. I hope you like rings, because it's the only one I have on hand for the moment. If you wear that during duels, your psychic powers won't be as powerful, so it's like putting a leash on them." I said

"I see. Thanks Sakura." Said Grace

"You're welcome, but, what was going on with your arm just now?" I asked

"My arm?" Grace asked with a blank look on her face

"When you Synchro Summoned Wind Master God, your right arm started to glow green, while the marks that Matt, Yusei, and I have on our arms started reacting as well. Mind if I take a look?" I asked

"Uh… okay." Grace said while extending her right arm

I moved the sleeve aside, and I saw a green mark etched into her skin. It was shaped like the Wind symbol on the cards.

"What is that?!" exclaimed Grace

"I think it means you're a Signer." Said Yusei

"What's a Signer?" asked Grace

"It's what Yusei, Matt, and I are. We have these marks on our arms. In my case, I'm a special Signer known as the Twilight Signer, blessed with the Heart of the Crimson Dragon. I'm gonna have to do a little more research in Goodwin's old database later on. I think it can explain the mark on your arm." I said

"Thanks." Said Grace

"In the meantime, why don't we hit the books? I'm sure we can find something in Sector Security's database as well." Dawn offered to Grace

"Thanks. We can head over right now." Grace said while putting on her helmet

"What about your runner?" I asked

"I can fix it up when I get home. Don't worry about the paint. You can use it to fix your paint job. See you around Sakura." Grace said before she, Dawn, Matt, and Alex drove off

"Old friend of yours?" asked Yusei

"Sorta. I met her a few years back while she was trying to hide from Sayer. I pulled the old 'point to a random direction and wait for the guy to be out of earshot' trick." I said

"I'm glad you have a friend like her." Said Yusei

"You should be happy that you have friends too Yusei. I mean, my life was more glamorous than yours probably was, but you had friends in the Satellite who stood by you." I said

"Yeah, that's true. By the way, why have you been working so hard lately?" asked Yusei

"You've heard of a technique called the Accel Synchro?" I asked

"You know about it?!" exclaimed Yusei

"I just recently learned about it. I'm guessing you did too. Did you learn it from a girl named Dark Glass?" I asked

"No. I learned it from a guy named Visor. I'm just worried about the fight ahead." Yusei said while looking out at the city skyline

"Yeah, me too." I said

"I thought I'd find you here Yusei, but I never expected to find Sakura here too." Said Jack

"Huh? Hey guys." Yusei said as we turned around to see Jack and Crow

"What's going on?" I asked

"Man, this really is the best view of the city." Said Crow

"Hard to believe how much the city has changed in the last six months, isn't it?" asked Jack

"You guys need something?" asked Yusei

"Can't friends just check in on their friends?" asked Jack

"Huh? Yeah, sorry. I'm just a little on edge." Said Yusei

"What? 'Coz of the new engine? Fess up; it's not just that, is it?" Crow asked as he placed a hand on Yusei's shoulder

"No, it's… I can't stop thinking about that stolen duelbot thing." Said Yusei

"What about the duelbot? You defeated it, right?" I asked

"Yeah, but I still can't believe how powerful it was." Said Yusei

"I don't get it. That thing was just a machine, right? What's the big deal?" asked Crow

"Crow! Man, use your brain for once. Machine or not, someone was controlling the bot, and whoever it was knew how to pack a punch with a deck." I said

"Yeah, and I think I might know who." Said Yusei

"What? Who?" asked Jack

"Yliaster." Said Yusei

"You're gonna have to remind me what that means, pal. I've got kinda a short term memory sometimes." Said Crow

"During my battle with Roman, he said that he met some guy from a group called Yliaster at the Nazca Lines. That meeting is what made him betray my father and Sakura's mother." Said Yusei

"I've heard Goodwin mention that group a few times back when I was his guinea pig in the research facility." I said

"I heard Goodwin mention that group ever now and then back when I was his lackey, but I don't know Yusei, in my opinion, it all sounded like a bunch of secret society mumbo jumbo." Said Jack

"It's not mumbo jumbo Jack! This group is real. They're out there, and they used Goodwin and Roman to cause Zero Reverse, but Goodwin and Roman were just their pawns. Defeating them didn't defeat Yliaster. In fact, I heard their name mentioned again recently." Said Yusei

"Yeah, me too." I said

I thought back to the duel I had with Antea and her connection to Yliaster. She was nothing but a girl when they changed her life, and not good way.

"So what did these Yliaster goons want with this girl's parents? And why have they been chasing her across the globe?" asked Crow

"We are talking about your mystery duelist, right?" I asked

"Yeah." Said Yusei

"The same case for me, only my mystery duelist was Antea, one of the Orichalcos guys. Yliaster killed her dad, and chased her across the world, until she found the Orichalcos." I said

"Whoa!" exclaimed Crow

"Yeah, but Antea wouldn't tell me anything, and I'm guessing your duelist did the same thing. Either way, Yliaster is somehow pulling the strings behind the upcoming WRGP. Something is gonna happen there, and it ain't gonna be good." I said

"You're basing all of this on something some girl either of you don't know said to you?" asked Jack

"There's more. Remember what Blister was saying to us when we went out to Martha's place a couple of weeks ago? This is how that drama with the Dark Signers started. A whisper here and there. Well I wanna be ready this time." Said Yusei

"Yeah, and remember that creepy eye thingy that nearly sucked me up. I get this sneaking suspicion that Yliaster and the Orichalcos could be working together, so I have to be ready, whether I am or not." I said

"Okay, but, ready for what?" asked Crow

"For pretty much anything." Said Yusei

"So the Grand Prix could be some kind of trap, and the four of us are just gonna stroll right into it?" asked Jack

"That's how we roll! We're not scared of nothing! I mean, you're not afraid, are you Jack?" asked Crow

"Please. You might as well ask the ocean if it's thirsty! Jack Atlas knows no fear. I don't even know what the word means, and if anyone tries to intimidate me, they will experience a world of hurt!" exclaimed Jack

"Great, so we've got the enthusiasm part nailed. That's good to know." I said

"Yeah, 'coz we're gonna need that and a whole lot more. If I'm right about Yliaster, then we're gonna need to learn some new moves, my friends. Remember the trick that Visor guy busted out?" asked Yusei

"Yeah, well, I think Dark Glass is a buddy of your Visor dude, because she pulled out the same trick this Visor pulled on Yusei." I said

"Well, I didn't see anything at that point. There was this blinding white light I spent the next five minutes stumbling around, trying to see." Said Crow

"You didn't stumble about. You were hugging onto me and saying 'protect me Jack. Protect me'." Jack said while mocking Crow

"What Visor and Dark Glass did, we'd never seen it before. It was called the Accel Synchro." Said Yusei

"Accel Synchro?!" Crow and Jack exclaimed in unison

"That's right, and we need to learn how to pull it off." I said

"So Yusei, Sakura, by mastering this Accel Synchro method, you think we'll be able to counteract that capture ability that nuts and bolts used on you Yusei?" asked Jack

"How are we supposed to do that?! What does it even mean?! How does it work?! Too. Many. Questions. Brain, overwhelmed." said Crow

"I don't know Crow, but there's a world beyond the one we know, beyond the breaking point, past our limits, where time acts differently, where things aren't like they are here. We gotta find a way to get there." Said Yusei

"So we gotta find a way to bend time and space? Sounds like a plan! Go ahead Yliaster, ask for a piece of Crow. I'll serve you the whole pie, losers!" exclaimed Crow

"A world beyond my limits, you say? Hmph, that's impossible. There is nothing beyond my limits!" exclaimed Jack

"Just the thing Yuse, we're gonna be working non-stop to get a better engine for our runners, to defeat both Yliaster and the Orichalcos." I said

"Well said Sakura." Said Jack

"Yeah, that's right. We're all in this together. One for all and all for one and all that junk." Said Crow

"Great, then let's do this you guys. The Enforcers are gonna ride again!" exclaimed Yusei

We all fist-bumped in the air as Yusei said those words. I know the future's looking grim right now, but with the encounters I had today, things are gonna change.

Card Stats:

Jet The Master- (ATK: 1800/ DEF: 1900/ LV: 4/ Wind/ Warrior) This card has two effects. 1) When he is summoned, you can select one card on the opponent's side of the field, and destroy it. 2) When this card destroys a card on your opponents side of the field due to a card effect, you can special summon a Level 5 monster from your deck to the field in Attack Mode.

Wind Master Shao Khan- (ATK: 2500/ DEF: 2300/ LV: 5/ Wind/ Beast-Warrior) Effect: When he is special summoned, the opponent take 500 points of damage for every monster on both sides of the field

Wind Master God- (ATK: 3500/ DEF: 4000/ LV: 9/ Synchro/ Wind/ Warrior) Effect: When this monster is Synchro Summoned, then the opponent takes damage equal to the combined level of your opponents monsters times 1000

Wind Changer (Spell Card) - Allows you to turn one Level 4 Wind monster on the field into a tuner
