Act 3: Scene 1
As the Queen of the Fairies slept on through the night, a group of men were seen walking near the fae's resting place. They were a trio of men that were exceptionally good looking with one having brownish blonde hair and blue eyes, one with dark skin with dark brown hair, and the last one a young lad with blonde hair. They followed a short man with red hair and a weird face.
"Are we all here men~?" The strange man asked his troupe as they all nodded.
"Right on time Ichiya-san. This is the perfect place to rehearse." Hibiki, the brownish blonde one, said as he surveyed the area. "We can set up here and start working on our show."
"But why this late at night in the forest area?" Eve, the dark skinned one, asked her companion as he got out the equipment.
"Hibiki found this area when he was traveling some time ago. I think it looks perfect." Ren, the young lad, said in awe at the ethereal surroundings. "The lake gives off a beautiful glow when the moon hits it just right."
Hibiki nodded, taking out a stack of papers that was to be their script. "All right, we'll have a prologue then. We'll write it in alternating eight- and six-syllable lines, just like in a ballad."
Ichiya shook his head. "No, add a couple more syllables. Make it eight and eight."
Eve read on ahead and scratched his head. "Won't the ladies be scared of the lion?"
Ren looked over his shoulder and gasped. "I'm really worried about that. They could be scared if we had a real lion on stage."
Ichiya stood on a rock in front of the trio and posed. "Sirs, you ought to think to yourself, bringing in—God forbid!—a lion amongst ladies is really terrible. There's no scarier wild bird than the living lion, and we should remember that."
The boys all agreed on that, they didn't want to scare any of the females watching the show after all. Eve chimed in next. "So we need another prologue to tell everyone he's not a real lion."
Ichiya tapped his abnormal chin before humming in thought. "No, we can just announce the actor's name, and let his face show through the lion costume, and have him say something himself." Leaping from the rock, he started to pace back and forth.
"He should say the following, or something else to the same defect —"Ladies," or "Lovely ladies," "I would like to ask you" or "I would like to request of you" or "I would like to beg you" "not to be afraid, and not to tremble with fear. I value your lives as highly as my own. If you thought I was a real lion, I would be risking my life. But no, I am not at all a lion. I am a man, just like other men." And then he should say his name."
The trimens clapped for their leader, equally impressed by his monologue.
"All right, that's what we'll do then. But there are two things we still have to figure out. How are we going to bring moonlight into a room?" Hibiki pointed out.
Ichiya sighed, this was going to be a long session.
Mira was wandering not too far from where they were practicing and watched in amusement as they performed their seemingly interesting play.
"Who are these country bumpkins swaggering around so close to where the fairy queen is sleeping?" She shook her head as she continued to watch. "They better not get too close to Erza or else they might get their heads cut off."
Rustling noises were heard as Happy flew down next to her, his face full of sweat since he had been flying for hours now. Mira managed to catch him before he fell to the ground.
"Happy what have you been up to all night?" She whispered, not wanting to catch the attention of the traveling actors.
"Helping. The King. With his plans." Happy said, gulping for air as he spoke. "What are you doing so far from where the queen rests?"
"Watching this play these mortals are rehearsing for." Mira giggled, pointing at the humans. "Wanna watch me play a little prank on them?"
Happy smirked, knowing how playful Mira could be. "Aye sir!"
Using her fairy magic, Mira conjured up a transformation spell, since she was really good at doing so. With a wave of her hand, she changed Ichiya's face into that of a donkey. Happy had to keep himself from laughing out loud as the trimen ran away from the monstrosity that was Ichiya.
"That was funny Mira!" Happy laughed, tears streaming down his face. "I think this is your best prank yet!"
"Might be!" Mira hugged Happy as she was giggling too. "Humans can be so easy to fool."
Suddenly, their eyes widen as they saw Ichiya stumble into the place where Erza was sleeping. Not one to waste time, they leapt up and flew over to stop him.
Ichiya, who didn't know that his head was one of a donkey's now, wandered around aimlessly as he tried to figure out where in the world his troupe had gone. Frustrated, he blew out an angry breath from his nose.
"I see what they're up to. They want to make an ass of me, to scare me if they can. But I won't leave this spot, no matter what they do. I'll walk up and down and sing a song, so they'll know I'm not afraid, men~!"
And so, a merry tune erupted from the ugly man's face as he wandered around the woods. His singing had awakened the Queen of the Fairies from her slumber as her piercing eyes narrowed in the darkness. Who dared to sing so loudly as she was trying to sleep? Grabbing her sword, she stalked out of her bed chambers and immediately saw Ichiya singing and dancing about. Before she could get angry at his nonsensical singing, she was struck by Cupid's arrow and fell in love with him on the spot.
"What angel is this who's waking me up from my bed of flowers?" She said in an airy tone as she walked over towards him with a dreamy look on her face. "Please sing again, sweet human. I love to listen to your voice, and I love to look at your body. I know this is the first time I've ever seen you, but you're so wonderful that I can't help swearing to you that I love you."
Ichiya was surprised to see the red headed queen speaking to him with such love and beauty. He too was struck by an arrow of love as he bowed towards her. "The pleasure is mine, men~! You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. That parfum you are wearing smells divine." He then took her hand and kissed it gently.
Erza blushed lightly as she swatted his hand away bashfully. "You are wise as you are handsome, I see."
All poor Mira and Happy could do was watch as their queen made advances towards the hideously deformed human.
Oh no! Erza is under the effect of the love potion now! Can they break her out of her love stupor self? Find out next time!
