Chapter 5: Halloween Town

Detroid: Enjoy!
"Gawrsh, you there are more like Axel, Saxito and that other guy?" asked Goofy
"If we meet Axel or Saxito again, you can leave it to me!" exclaimed Donald
I guess it's time to move up to the next floor.
"Hmm…" Jiminy thought out loud
"What's wrong, Jiminy?" Sora asked him
"Well, ya see, what Axel and Saxito said back there worries me. What could they have meant by, "You may no longer be who you are"?" Jiminy asked
"I may no longer be me? How can I be anyone else?" Sora asked
"I don't know, maybe you'll turn into Riku." I said playfully
"Hey!" exclaimed Sora
"Of course. Still, you can't be too careful." said Jiminy
"Yep. Feels like just about anything could happen here in Castle… Oblivi - Oblivi - Obliv - " Goofy tried to say
"Castle Oblivion!" Donald exclaimed
"Oh, yeah! Now I remember!" exclaimed Goofy
"We'll be okay. Whatever it is they're cooking up, we'll be able to handle it together." said Sora
" 'Course we will, like at that creepy castle we explored together, the one with all those weird contraptions." said Goofy
Sora looked like he was deep in thought about that, as if he was trying to remember our adventure in Hollow Bastion.
"When was that?" Sora asked
"Aaah. I can't remember. What was it called?" asked Donald
"Gawrsh, oh it was, uh… Holla… Holly… Holler… Sorry. I can't remember." Goofy said
"It's Hollow Bastion!" Rita, Reina, Yukie, and I exclaimed in unison
"You can say that again." A familiar voice rang out
"Jing!" I exclaimed as we saw her
"Long time no shadow. What happened Joker? Run out of cards?" Jing asked
"Wak! Stop goofing around." quacked Donald to Goofy
"Goofy, sure you didn't make it up?" asked Sora
"I don't think so…" Goofy said while trying to remember
"That's because he didn't." I said
"We'll be here all week if we wait for Goofy to remember!" exclaimed Donald
"Harrow… Halo… Hmm… That's funny. Why can't I remember?" asked Goofy
"For the last time, it's Hollow Bastion." Rita said in an annoyed tone
"I couldn't move on at all without those stupid cards." Jing said
"I thought you were going to need help." I said to her
"I do but which memory would we do next?" Jing asked us
"Uh…" Goofy started to think
I guess whichever one Sora was gonna pick, because he was at the door! Next thing that happened, the weird visor from last time showed up on my right eye, and we were in Halloween Town! And why wasn't Jing in a costume like the rest of us were? Unless the pale skin and ruined dress was one, and how she kinda looked see through.
"Garwsh! Don't like the looks of this place. I bet it's crawlin' with ghosts!" exclaimed Goofy
"Like me?" Jing asked him from behind, which scared the pants off him
"Garwsh! Don't scare me like that!" exclaimed Goofy
"Aw, phooey! There's nothin' to worry about. You won't be spooked if you already know what's coming! Not even real ghosts can frighten us anymore. If they take one look at us, THEY'll be the ones to run away!" quacked Donald
"You really think so?" asked Goofy
"Trust me!" exclaimed Donald
Donald then walked forward to go into Halloween Town, then got scared by Jack Skellington!
"Welcome to Halloween Town!" Jack exclaimed
"Waaak! A ghost!" exclaimed Donald
Lumen, Jing, and I then whacked him on the head with our Keyblades. We summoned our keyblades to get ready to fight against Jack Skellington before he said:
"Wow, that was the best shriek I've heard in ages! If you're THAT easy to scare, we're gonna have a great time! Sorry, I haven't even introduced myself. I'm Jack Skellington! And this is Halloween Town. People around here call me the Pumpkin King! So if you're lookin' for a ghoulishy good time, you've come to the right place."
"Well, we aren't!" exclaimed Donald while he jumped up and down
"Too bad, because at the moment, we've got a bit of a problem in Halloween Town." Jack explained
"What kind of problem?" asked Sora
"Well…" Jack started to say before Heartless surrounded us before he finished:
"Like this!"
"Gyaaa!" exclaimed Sora
Okay, I was not expecting so many Heartless in one spot! Really? Just… really on all of these Heartless? Oh well. Time to slice and dice these guys.
"What's the big idea! Why'd you go and call the heartless?" quacked Donald
"I didn't call them. I just knew when they were going to show up. In face, I'd love to get rid of them. They actually go around attacking people, instead of just scaring them." Jack explained
"Why are they here?" asked Sora
"I was just about to go ask Dr. Finkelstein the same same question. I'm heading to his laboratory right now. Follow me!" said Jack
"Sora, Lumen, Rita, Reina, Yukie and Ankoku, what should we do?" asked Donald
"I guess we'd better go." said Sora
"I don't like this. What if he's leading us right to the heartless?" asked Donald
Jack just suddenly appeared in front of us which scared the living daylights out of everyone who looked alive
"Bingo! You saw right through me!" exclaimed Jack
"Waaak!" quacked Donald
"Ha ha ha, I'm just kidding! Now let's get going." Jack said
Does this guy scare people for a living?
"You guys go ahead, I would like to talk to Ankoku for a moment." Jing said
"Uh, okay." I said
Jing's POV
They soon left with Jack Skellington to visit Dr. Finkelstein leaving Ankoku and I alone since I wanted to talk to her about something.
"So, what did you want to talk to me about?" Ankoku asked me
"Since I am a ghost here in Halloween Town… Maybe I could… Possess you so I could help the group?" I asked her
"Wait, what?" Ankoku asked
"You heard me." I said
"But… are you sure?" Ankoku asked me
"Yes but don't worry, it's only for Halloween Town. I'll leave your body before we leave this memory." I told her
"Alright." Ankoku told me
"Thank you." I said
Ankoku then closed her eyes and I flew into her body, immediately possessing her.
Luz's POV
We were going through rooms like crazy just to find the room key for where we needed to head into the lab, but it was, well… easier said than done. And should I said it was until we found it and found our way into the lab.
"Allow me to introduce Dr. Finkelstein! He's a world-famous genius!" exclaimed Jack
"Yes! Maybe I'm TOO smart. I'm afraid I've created something horrible!" Doctor explained
"What's that?" asked Donald
"That's what I want to know as well." a voice said
We turned to see Ankoku! But… where was Jing?
"Well… Have you ever stopped to think about the power of "true memories"?" Doctor asked
"True memories!?" exclaimed Sora
"You see my guests, our hearts are full of memories - but not all of them reflect the truth. The heart isn't a recording device. Even important memories change with time. They warp or fade, leaving us with a shadow of what we hoped to remember." explained the doctor
"Could this be happening to us?" asked Sora
"It happens to everyone. Some memories grow ugly, and some become more beautiful. If we could recover our true memories, the world would seem completely different. So, I devised a potion from forget-me-nots that brings our true memories back." Doctor explained
"Did it work?" asked Sora
"Well, that's the problem…" Doctor trailed off
"As soon as the doctor got a whiff of the potion, Heartless started popping up!" Jack exclaimed
"Sounds like a failed experiment to me." Sora and 'Ankoku' said in unison
"No! My research is flawless! I just need another look at the potion to find out what went wrong! Unfortunately...it's vanished." said the doctor
"Maybe someone swiped it?" Sora asked
"It must've been Sally! Jack, you've got to find her and get my potion back." said the doctor
"Leave it to me!" Jack exclaimed
"Can we tag along?" 'Ankoku' asked
"What for?" asked Jack
"We want to know more about these "true memories" the doctor keeps talking about." Sora said
"Excellent! Then let's go find Sally!" exclaimed Jack
We then left the lab to find Sally, when Ankoku tapped me on the shoulder.
"Guess your wondering why I'm acting weird, right?" 'Ankoku' asked me
"Now that you mention it, yeah." I said
"It's because, it's me, Jing." Ankoku said
"What?!" I exclaimed
"Yeah…" Ankoku trailed off
"How did you do that?" I asked
"Remember, I was a ghost when we entered Halloween Town." Jing told me
"Oh yeah." I said
"And because of that ghost thing… I could possess people." Jing explained to me
"Makes me wish I was a ghost instead of a witch." I said while sulking
"Why did you want to be a ghost?" Jing asked me
"I was joking." I said
"Oh but is it to possess I don't know…. Yukie, Rite, Reina or Donald?" Jing asked me
"I was actually thinking Donald, yeah." I said while sweat-dropping
"Oh." Jing said while sweat-dropping as well
"But in any case, let's find Sally." I said
We then found the right door and cards that we needed to get through, but man, it took forever to do it!
"There you are, Sally! I thought I'd find you here." said Jack
"Who are your friends?" Sally asked
"They're interested in true memories. You have the potion, don't ya?" Jack asked
"Well…yes." said Sally
"Could you give it back?" Jack asked
"I guess so, if you insist. But...I'm afraid. All the Doctor did was smell it, and the Heartless appeared. What if someone drinks it?" Sally asked
"Are you kidding me? What could be more exciting?" asked Jack
"More like what could be more scary?" I whispered to Jing
"Yeah." Jing whispered back to me
"I'm worried, Jack. Isn't there another option?" asked Sally
"Any ideas, Jack?" Sora and Jing asked
"I can't think of a thing." said Jack
"I can! Give it here!" a voice exclaimed
Someone then tackled Sally to the ground, and it was Oogie Boogie! Man, will that burlap sack ever learn?!
"Oh, no! The potion!" exclaimed Sally
"Oogie! You again!" Jack exclaimed towards Oogie
"Jack, where are your manners? I'm just helping you put the potion to good use! You should thank me! Well, well. Just one sniff, and the Heartless appeared. What would happen if I chugged the whole thing? THAT would be scary! Poor Jack! You can't hold a candle to Oogie Boogie. Time for Halloween Town to taste pain and despair beyond any nightmare!" Oogie exclaimed
"You're crazy!" Jing exclaimed
"No, he's a burlap sack full of bugs." said Rita
"Why not both?" Jing asked Rita
"A crazy burlap sack full of bugs… yep. That's him." Rita said smugly
"Pain and despair? Oogie, you monster!" Jack said
"C'mon, Jack! We've gotta go after him!" Sora and Jing exclaimed in unison
We ran like crazy after him, fighting Heartless, going through rooms, the works.
"Oogie! Hand over the potion!" Jack exclaimed
"You fools don't know when to quit! Say...all this running around is making me thirsty!" exclaimed Oogie
"Oogie! No!" Jack exclaimed
"Don't you dare!" Jing exclaimed
"Yes!" Oogie said
And he swallowed it all in one gulp! Oh no, this was not gonna be good.
"Oh, no…" Sora trailed off
"Ahh! Lip-smashing good!" Oogie exclaimed
He looked like he had just drank a soda on a hot summer day before he started to act a little weird, even for a crazy burlap sack full of bugs before he said:
"Agh! What's this? What… Something's wrong! Something deep inside me. Something...scary!"
"Oogie! What's going on?" asked Jack
"No! Get back! Stay away from me!" Oogie exclaimed
And like what happened before, his casino appeared, but it seemed different this time. But a lot our time was wasted because Sora kept using card slants! Oh well, I'll beat him up when we find my sister, if I can remember to tell her. Once we defeated the bag of bugs, it felt like we were just teleported to the old doctor's lab.
"Confound that Oogie Boogie! He drank nearly all of my precious potion. There are only a few drops left!" Doctor exclaimed
"Sora, Lumen. Why don't you ask the doc if you can drink the rest?" Jack asked
"No thanks." Reina said while holding up her hands
"I'm with my sister on this one." said Rita
"I'm with them." said Yukie
"I'm pretty sure I'll get a hideous rash if I take it so… no." I said
"I'll ask but we need to ask Andoku first as well." Jing said as she left her body before Ankoku nearly fainted
"Should we wake her Donald?" Goofy asked
"I don't know…" Donald trailed off before Ankoku gave him an uppercut at the bottom of his beak, which made his eyes spin
"Guess that's a no." Jing said
"Got that right." Ankoku said as she glared at Donald
"I was meaning to him waking you up." Jing said
"Why else was I glaring? The last time he woke me up, I ended up having feathers in my hair." Ankoku said while still glaring at him
"Oh but thanks for letting me use your body, Ankoku." Jing said while smiling
"Hey, no problem." Ankoku said
"Anyway Ankoku. Do you want to ask the doc for the rest of the potion?" Goofy asked
"Hmm…. no." Ankoku said bluntly
"Sora, how about you?" Jing asked
"No. I'd better not." said Sora
"Finally, something smart." I said
"What, don't you want it? Too bad. It would've been a great experiment." The Doctor said
"We're not guinea pigs!" Rita, Reina, and Yukie exclaimed in unison
"Now, doctor…" Sally trailed off
"Don't you want to find out about your true memories?" Jack asked
"Of course- now more than ever. But there's these guys- Axel and Saxito. We promised them we'd find the truth on our own." Sora explained
"I just don't understand. When I inhaled the potion, Heartless appeared- and when Oogie drank it, he was overcome with fear. What could it mean?" The Doctor asked
"It means the potion was a failure." Sally said
"No! I can't be wrong! Oogie MUST have found his true memories! Hmm… True memories must unbalance the heart… and cause unpredictable changes within!" The Doctor exclaimed
"Then… what about us? What happens when our true memories awaken?" Sora asked
"That's what I was thinking as well." Jing said
"Perhaps something even more terrifying… But this is all just a hypothesis. I can't be sure without further research." The Doctor said
"What's wrong, Sora? Does the doctor's theory scare you?" asked Jack
"Well, yeah… a little." Sora said
"A little?" I asked Sora
"That's good to hear! Fear and doubt are signs of a strong heart. They push your heart, strike out in new directions, take chances! Without them, your zest for life might fade… as would your taste for fear. And believe me, that would really ruin my fun." Jack said
"Thanks, Jack. We'll remember that." said Sora
"Then good luck, gentlemen and ladies! May you always enjoy being frightened!" Jack exclaimed
"Yeah, I'd rather chew grass." I said to myself
"Guess I don't have time to drink that potion." Jing said
"More like you shouldn't." Ankoku said to Jing
"Why not?" Jing asked
"You want what happened to Mr. Burlap Sack to happen to you?" Rita asked me
"Fine… you win and told you Ankoku that I would leave your body before we left this memory." Jing said
"Yeah, you did." Ankoku said to Jing
"Or maybe I should be you until the fourth floor." Jing told her
"Hey." Ankoku said while puffing up her cheeks
"I can't joke?" Jing asked
"You can." Ankoku said before we left the Halloween Town memory
This is going to be a long Castle Oblivion.
Jing's POV
Before I could leave the Halloween Town memory, I heard a voice behind me but who was it? It's not my father's voice. It's not even Axel's or Saxito's voice either. Whose voice is this?
"Show yourself!" I exclaimed
And whoever it was, it wasn't very keen on being polite.
"I'll ask again. Show yourself or else!" I exclaimed angrily
And some dude wearing the same coat Saxito and Axel wore showed up! Great, can't you, oh, I don't know, uh… leave me the hell alone?!
"What do you want?" I asked in annoyance
"There are rules that you must follow here in Castle Oblivion." The guy said to me
"Yeah… I know. But what do you really want from me?" I asked
"You seek to gain something, but be warned, to lose is to gain, but to gain is to lose, here… in Castle Oblivion." The guy said before he disappeared
Okay…. I need to catch up to the others right now. I soon ran to catch up to Sora and the others. I just hoped I didn't see this guy again.
Detroid: Sorry for keeping you guys waiting for the end of this chapter since I was having a hard time beating Oogie on the game
sakuraphoenix: Could be worse, you could've been stuck with Jafar
Detroid: Don't bring in my proud mode data for the game into this for that boss
sakuraphoenix: What? I'm saying that because I hate that over egotistical red genie
Detroid: True but we do have a surprise for y'all so, want to tell them my cute fennekin

Detroid: *looks down*
sakuraphoenix: I can't tease you anymore?
Detroid: You can *smiles*
sakuraphoenix: But in all seriousness, should we tell them?
Detroid: Yeah, let's do it. We will actually be doing a quick flash update for this fanfic meaning there is one more chapter coming your way!
sakuraphoenix: And no, it's not Agrabah, so don't ask!
Detroid: We have the first 5 floors planned out so you'll have to see the next memory in the seventh chapter.
