"Are you okay?"
Adrien's tender voice rang through her head, hitting all the barriers she had put up in her mind to block out what she would rather ignore.
Marinette shook her head.
"Yeah. I'm fine. Just excited, is all"
Well at least that's what she meant to say. But what came out was very different.
"I'm just upset that there are rich people like you who live in the lap of luxury while there are people who are homeless and starving. I get that you might not know, but still, it's upsetting."
Marinette glanced up, expecting Adrien's pretty (she had to admit it) face to be twisted into a scowl, and he would yell at her to get the hell out.
Adrien unexpectedly smiled and started chuckling.
"Every girl that comes in her is like " Oh, Adrien, I'm your biggest fan!", or "I'm so in love with you, can you marry me?" It's nice to have a change, someone who actually isn't trying to win me over. Also, you're beautiful. I think the most attractive thing about women is that they know what they want and they speak their own mind. Which means, you're the first girl that I've really like."
At this, Marinette blushed. Then she realized how this had absolutely no foundation, and she wasn't about to fall in love with someone she was going to kill.
"You've known me for what? 5 min? And you already like me? Do you even know anything about me?"
Adrien grinned, and Marinette couldn't help liking his shiny, genuine smile.
"Well, I know that you care about people who are worse off than you, and I'm assuming that's because of some personal experience."
At this, Marinette flinched, but Adrien continued talking.
"And you are bold and confident. You set your goals and you will do anything to achieve them. And you have a cool sense of style."
Marinette glanced down at her all-black outfit. Okay, maybe that last point was valid. But….
"What about you liking me?"
Adrien smirked.
"You're about to see."
Then Adrien FUCKING Agreste leaned forward and kissed Marinette, tilting her chin up to deepen the kiss.
