Second Chances

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto. I never have and will never have the money to make an honest effort.

A/N: Hello! How has everyone been? I apologize that it has taken me this long to get this chapter up however, as I am trying to get both of my Naruto stories out of the chunin exams I have been focusing on Underneath the Underneath as the chapters for that story have been much longer. I am going to try and find a way to get longer chapters out at a faster pace as it seems that many of you prefer the longer chapters. Finally, this chapter has a lot of repeat content in it so you won't miss much if you skip it out of disinterest in repetitive content. In any event, you know the drill by now!

Sultryvoice: I had thought a lot about it before making that decision and I finally decided that I would include her. I wasn't to sure about it at first, but I'm considering this as a test run. If I have trouble writing it in properly I will find a way to deal with it. I just thought that I would try and see.

Hulk9970: Normally he wouldn't have to focus so much on the chains but Naruto is the first male to get them in my story (as males don't even get them in cannon) and as such there is still a lot that they don't know about them in regards to how they function in males. Add in the fact that he hasn't had them for that long and you have the necessity for the focus. Plus, you can't forget that even in cannon Naruto had a hard time focusing on more than one thing at a time. I agree that at the time Naruto is still slightly underpowered compared to his teammates.

NOT A FLAME: First let me say I love that name, lol. I will be working more on Naruto's skills now that the exams are over. There was a lot that Naruto had to do that Sasuke and Hinata didn't in order to get his body up to par. Which is the only reason that he seems to have fallen behind. Now that the exams are over and he has repaired the damage an all ramen diet has created and has access to his clan's teachings he will definitely get a boost to catch up to his teammates.

MrFloridaMan: Don't worry I haven't underestimated the buff the chains give. Kushina may or may not make a cameo...Also, the chains will come more into play now that Naruto can access them. Before now he was remastering the things he already knew, but the chains are new and he has to start from scratch so it may seem like he is progressing slowly only due to not having the memories to aid him.

Rbear1231: You go ahead and use it I don't mind. A lot of my stories were inspired by other authors and as long as it has your own personal spin on it I could care less! Don't change your idea because of me.

InfinityMask: While it may seem like she gave away to much information, she barely scratched the surface and only gave enough away to make the Hyuga clan think. Besides she only gave away what could have been deduced by a very observant person. As for recommendations, I can't think of a story I have read with Hinata getting them but I will keep a look out and let you know if I find any! As for why Ryusuke never went back, as with most traitors he thought he had all he needed from the village.

AzureTemplar3535: Most likely not. I think that if Kurenai, Kiba and Sakura show up again they will have a different outlook on life now that they have had their eyes opened.

The village was relatively quiet with minor noise the only disturbance as the excitement of the chunin exams began to die down and the minor damage to the village was repaired. Mostly the damage was cosmetic as buildings were either clipped by stray jutsu or grazed by the occasional weapon. True to Naruto's predictions and Kakashi's hope there was minimum casualties and those only came from the stubborn shinobi and villager that refused to leave when they were asked to head to the shelters. Thankfully, the total deaths and wounded paled in comparison to the first time around and Naruto couldn't be happier. Sighing as he sat up in bed he glanced towards the clock and groaned. He had thirty minutes to get ready and arrive at the council meeting for a debriefing of what happened. He still didn't know how anyone found out that he was the one that gave the forewarning but the council was beginning to ask questions.

"Dobe, are you awake?"

"Barely. I'm tired. Why did I agree to train with Kimimaro yesterday?" He whined as he climbed out if bed. Even with his advanced healing and Kurama he was still sore.

"You wanted to improve your taijutsu and kenjutsu and asked him since you remembered how good he was the last time that you fought."

"Right. Don't let me do that again." Sasuke merely laughed as the blonde quickly changed and grabbed a quick breakfast before heading out to the tower.

Inside, the noise was almost deafening as the civilians and shinobi snapped at one another and the first two kage glared at the third as they waited for him to regain control. Hiruzen, on the other hand, was crying mentally. The massive beatdown he had received the previous day at the hands of both of his previous senseis still hurt and he was certain that the shodai had only healed him enough to be functional today. Just before Tobirama lost his patience the door slammed open as the four rookie teams walked in calmly and quietly. They were relaxed and yet alert, their jonin following them in a look of pride in their eyes.

"Is this what Konoha has become? A bunch of squabbling infants that can't speak in an inside voice or like civilized human beings?" Naruto snapped making all the noise die at once. The silence was deafening as he bowed to the Shodaime and Nidaime in respect.

"Watch your tone boy, and show us some respect."

"Elder Utatane, respect is earned not given and any respect you earned was from the older generation. As things stand now you have yet to do anything to earn the younger generation's respect and have only lost what you may have had with your arrogance. Any shinobi can live to old age simply by avoiding the battlefield. Many kunoichi live to old age because they retire from active duty and never return as soon as they have a child. So don't even go there." Sasuke snapped at the older kunoichi making her recoil from shock.

"Furthermore, we were under the impression that this meeting was technically being held under wartime protocol so why are the civilians here?" Naruto added angrily making more than a few people flinch.

"How dare..." Saikiri started only to be cut off.

"Well done. It seems that the genin have more than just a stable head on their shoulders. I must echo their statements why are the civilians here? Why is there even a civilian council to begin with?" Tobirama said appraisingly.

"I...formed the civilian council to take some of the work load off of the shinobi side during the second war.." Hiruzen admittedly almost timidly.

"How'd that work out for you?" Mito asked with a slightly icy tone. Hiruzen merely bowed his head and whined.

"Hiruzen's growing list of bad choices aside, this is a shinobi matter and the civilians are asked to leave. We really shouldn't be tying up the clan heads more than necessary." Hashirama quipped tiredly. The state of the hospital had been deplorable and his depression had only grown when he heard that Tsunade had all but officially severed her ties with the village. Grumbling the civilians left but not before shooting Naruto some venomous looks that did not go unnoticed.

"What was that about?" Mito frowned.

"Oh that was the aftermath of Hiruzen's decision to tell the village about Naruto's status as a jinchuriki." Kakashi chirped a little to cheerily.

"I see. Did you fall and hit your head on the way back to the village on every solid surface you came across?!" Tobirama snapped his patience with Hiruzen's bad decisions finally snapping. Hiruzen shrunk into himself and whined. "I knew I should have gone with my gut feeling and appointed my second choice for Sandaime."

"Eh? You had a second choice already Tobi?" Mito asked in surprise.

"Hai. I just wasn't sure if I was being overly optimistic like nii-san so I never said anything."

"Who was it?" Hashirama asked head dropping at the subtle jab at his personality.

"Kagami Uchiha. One of the only Uchiha I ever respected." That little piece of knowledge took everyone by surprise.

"I see." Sasuke mused quietly. Shaking his head Tobirama turned to look at Naruto and motioned for him to take a seat.

"I think that the clan heads would like to have some of their questions answered and I find myself harboring a few of my own." Naruto shrugged and smiled at the Nidaime.

"I'll answer what I can but you must understand that somethings can not be said for reasons that will become apparent later. The only one that knows literally everything about what is happening is Sasuke and only because he was there when everything happened." The clan head's nodded and took a moment to organize their thoughts before speaking with Shibi the first to speak.

"Who, no better yet, when are you from? There was no way that you had enough time to prepare a counter measure that in depth to an attack that the village was only speculating was going to happen in a month. That implies that you have had prior knowledge of the attack. Every aspect of it, not just what a spy could provide either. Given that and the sudden changes you have displayed since your graduation ten months ago, the only possible solution is that you are not from here. So, when are you from?" Everyone in the room felt their eyes widen in shock at the questions and Shikaku felt his mind begin to race at the implications.

"Very observant Shibi. In all honesty, I thought that Shikaku would figure it out first. The best way to answer that question is to introduce myself properly." Naruto stood and bowed with far more grace than before and shifted so that he could see everyone in the room.

"I am Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze. Son of the Yondaime hokage, Minato Namikaze, and the crown princess of Uzu, Kushina Uzumaki. I am the heir to the Namikaze and Uzumaki clan as well as to the throne of Uzu no kuni. I am the Sandaime jinchuriki of the Kyubi but more importantly the thirty-one year old Rokudaime hokage. Sasuke and I are the only "survivors" of the Hidden Leaf Village that was destroyed at the height of the fifth shinobi war." The sound of jaws hitting the floor could be heard as even the elders seemed to be struggling to process the information.

"Come again..." Hashirama asked in a daze.

"Sasuke and I have time-travelled nineteen years into the past to stop both the fourth and fifth shinobi war and save not just the hidden leaf but the world."

"I think you may need to start at the beginning." Shikaku whispered in shock. It was then that he noticed that the genin and jonin instructors didn't seem phased. 'So they already knew. Does that mean he trusted them more than us?' Hiruzen was also trying to wrap his head around the information. Never had he even suspected that was what they had been hiding the entire time.

"I suppose." Naruto mused leaning back. "However, the beginning starts a thousand years ago. Are you sure you want me to start there?"

"I think we all need a drink. Already." Hiashi sighed.

"I''m afraid so." Hashirama replied secretly agreeing with the Hyuga clan head.

It took nearly an hour just to catch the room up to speed on what had already happened and Naruto was watching as shock, anger, frustration and sadness crossed the faces of everyone present. He knew that the knowledge of what had been happening to Madara would upset the Shodaime but he didn't sugarcoat anything for anyone. He left nothing out. Absolutely nothing and he knew that the Nidaime was hiding his emotions in the part he had played in the Uchiha's downfall.

"To think that just catches us up to the present and that the Uchiha-Senju feud was all a ruse to awaken the Rinnegan." Hashirama whispered.

"Hashirama, there was little to nothing you could have done to help him without the knowledge of what was really happening. You did the best you could given the knowledge you had at the time and the stubbornness that Madara possessed. Yes, things could have been done differently in regards to other decisions but you really did try to help him. Never feel sorry for that." Naruto reprimanded. Nodding the Shodaime wiped his eyes and straightened out determined to try and change things before they got worse.

"While you did make many mistakes in regards to the Uchiha clan, a lot of them did have the best intentions behind them. The problem was you let your distrust of the clan color the way that you presented your opinions and that colored the opinions of the villagers as well. The Uchiha were just as much to blame for what happened because they refused to let go of past grudges." Sasuke sighed in exasperation at the Nidaime who looked as readable as a statue.

"There were many poor decisions that worked short time but not long term that were made for the long term. This was what caused the problems. The village bureaucracy was so focused on the village that they overlooked the necessary elements that made the village, it's people." Naruto continued before leaning back.

"In any event, we have yet to tell you everything. The truth is that the first time around Rock Lee was crippled almost irreparably in the exams, Hinata nearly died, hundreds of civilians and shinobi perished, I just barely managed to take Shukaku down when Gaara released him and the Sandaime used the Shiki fuin to seal away Orochimaru's arms knowing that he had perfected his jutsu to jump bodies and could negate the damage. Literally committing suicide for no reason and throwing the village in disarray without a kage when it desperately needed one." Naruto growled. Shaking his head he refocused.

"Actually, right now there is a group of nuke-nin hunting the jinchuriki for the bijuu sealed inside. They call themselves the Akatsuki. They will be making their first move on me in the next couple of days." Naruto mused making everyone twitch. "I know that I could hold my own against most of them but they are sending the two that I can't fend off on my own as I am now. Kisame Hoshigaki, known as the tailess tailed beast and wielder of the Samehada. A former member of the seven swordsman and his partner, Itachi Uchiha himself. If I could utilize all of Kurama's chakra I could hold my own against Itachi, I did it once before. However, while I am further along in the my control and what my body can handle I am nowhere near the level needed to take him on. Granted I have more skill now than I did the first time..." Naruto began muttering incoherently to himself making Sasuke groan and rub his head.

"He's doing it again.." Smacking the back of Naruto's head, Sasuke smirked as the blonde glared at him. "What you told me I could if you began to babble."

"Right anyway, I have no idea what is going to happen from here on. So far Sasuke and I have been going of of our memories of the past but from this point forward it is all unfamiliar territory to us. What we do know is that we need Tsunade to start her medic program as soon as possible and we absolutely must get Itachi back in the village, even if it means telling the truth about what happened against his wishes. We'll need his intelligence. After all, he infiltrated the Akatsuki approximately three and a half to four years ago."

"Wow. He is pretty dedicated to his vows to protect the village isn't he?" Ino whispered impressed at how far the shinobi was going to protect his home.

"Yes. Right now if things play out similarly to before we have a short three and a half years to prepare for the Akastuki to get serious in their efforts and the fourth war to begin. Started by the Akatsuki to get their hands on the both the Hachibi and the Kyubi. That is when the Jubi is revived and also when the shinobi world comes together as one for the first time. A treaty between the nations that forms the Allied Shinobi Nations." Sasuke declares getting many interesting reactions from the adults. Hashirama was practically glowing with happiness that his dream did come to fruition, Tobirama had a look of disbelief that was mirrored by almost everyone else and Danzo looked like he swallowed an entire lemon tree.

"The Allied Shinobi Nations, huh? Sounds good."

"It does, doesn't it? It wasn't just the ninja either as the land of iron joined the alliance and fought alongside the shinobi as comrades in arms. As far as the world knew, Obito disguised as Madara, was the only threat that they had to worry about. They combined their strengths to combat a shared threat. Unfortunately, nothing ever goes to plan. Obito managed to make one hundred thousand clones of Zetsu. While not powerful in it's own right, they were impossible to sense to almost everyone and could travel underground and underwater unhindered. Furthermore, because they couldn't be sensed at first they were able to ambush shinobi and steal their chakra allowing them to shift into a flawless replica of the shinobi. This allowed them to infiltrate the medical camps the first night and begin killing off the healers before they were discovered."

"That added on top of a mass Edo Tensei resurrecting some of the strongest shinobi in history including past kage, jinchuriki and opponents that the average shinobi could not hope to match like Itachi and Nagato, who is a Rinnegan wielder. Both sides lost half of their combined force the first day. Fifty-thousand Zetsu clones and numerous Edo Tensei sealed and forty-thousand shinobi and samurai in less than a day." Naruto said eyes closed.

"My god." Shikaku whispered in shock. Losses of that scale in one day had never happened and would easily cripple all of the villages.

"That was the first day?!" Tsume yelled in shock.

"Yes. It got worse the next day. Obito joined the fight with the deceased current jinchuriki acting as his paths with a single Rinnegan. Obito came after B and I to get our bijuu while Kabuto the one controlling the Edo Tensei revived the one person that had no counter available and no one that could fight on his level. Madara Uchiha in his prime." Hashirama's strangled gasp didn't go unnoticed. "At this time all of the previous four hokage were sealed away in the Shinigami's stomach and unaccessible. Making the option of summoning Hashirama to try and hold him off unavailable at the time."

"Aniki managed to break free of Kabuto's control and the two of us attacked Kabuto to try and get him to release the jutsu. Which he did, releasing all of the Edo Tensi except for Madara who had broken the contract as soon as he realized what was happening. Not that it mattered much. He had already revealed the Rinnegan and decimated Gaara's division despite fighting them in the desert. Oh did I mention that he summoned fucking meteors? Cause he did." Sasuke felt his eyes twitching in annoyance.

"I have no idea why you're annoyed Sasuke. I was the one that he threw them at. Or rather my shadow clone." Naruto replied snickering.

"Madara...summoned...meteors...with the Rinnegan..." Tobirama said slowly with a face that would make one think he was slowly being lowered into boiling acid.

"Yup. Onoki and Gaara stopped the first one but then he summoned a second one." Naruto laughed at the expressions he was getting. "In any event, the five reigning kage decided to challenge him all at once while the allied forces dealt with Obito. Sadly, they barely slowed him down and only delayed his arrival on the battlefield. Things just deteriorated from there as Madara manged to revive the Jubi. It was around that time that the deaths began en mass. Oh and Sasuke managed to summon the past four kage to help and arrived on the battlefield."

"I'd say, just in time for the Yondaime to deflect a bijuudama from the Jubi. Sadly not even Hashirama was able to fight Madara at that point he was just to strong. The only reason we managed to win was because he was betrayed by Zetsu and possessed by Kaguya. Who, despite being a goddess, was easier to fight than Madara just more annoying as she frequently jumped through dimensions and kept separating Dobe and I to prevent us from sealing her." Sasuke added.

"Madara was harder to fight then a goddess?" Hiashi whispered slowly as the concept just wasn't clicking.

"Yes. Then again I did manage to stun her for a few seconds with a reverse harem." Naruto snickered as Sasuke made a strange look reminiscent of someone being strangled.

"Who would have thought that a jutsu made for a childish prank would have been that effective on a goddess?"

"Wait...you mean the jutsu you kept using on Iruka-sensei was actually useful?" Shikamaru groaned out in exasperation.

"Yup. Guess it wasn't all that useless now was it? Granted it was a one time thing and she recovered just in time to slip away and prevent us from sealing her. We managed though. Unfortunately, as he had made himself the jinchuriki of the Jubi Madara suffered the same fate as any other jinchuriki that loses their biju. The stress his body went through was to much and he died. If it makes you feel better Hashirama, you not only rekindled your friendship in the end but I think he finally understood." Naruto said making Hashirama nod.

"So in the end, basically Madara killed himself." Tobirama dead panned.

"Yeah. That's the only reason that we managed to make it to the fifth war. Sadly, the peace didn't last. Iwa and Kumo had betrayed the alliance and tried to take Konoha out insisting that it was Konoha's fault that the war had even started in the first place. Kiri and Suna were unwilling to renew our treaties though they also refused to fight against us. It was literally us versus the world." Sasuke mused looking lost in his memories. The silence was deafening. While the genin and jonin had been informed they hadn't know most of the details so hearing a more detailed version was eye opening.

"Thirteen years." Naruto whispered catching everyone's attention. "That was how long it took Sasuke and I to create the seal we used to come back. We combined every bit of knowledge that Orochimaru, Itachi, Dad, Tobirama and the village had about seals and space time ninjutsu with what we had of the Uzumaki clan scrolls to come up with it."

"Thirteen years?" Mito whispered in awe then blinked. "What do you mean 'with what we had of the Uzumaki clan scrolls'? Were they no recovered from Uzu?"

"Not to my knowledge, originally. The first I laid eye on any of my inheritance and clan scrolls was when I came back here. Then again Sandaime-sama denied me knowledge of my lineage not to mention my birthright. It wasn't until I was sixteen and about to release the Kyubi in my anger that I learned who my dad was and only because it triggered a failsafe in the seal. I didn't learn who my mother was for almost six more months when I confronted Kurama for his chakra and that triggered a second failsafe." Naruto bit out glaring daggers at the Sandaime who shrunk into himself further. Shaking his head Naruto refocused.

"What happened to the village after you left?" Hashirama asked making Naruto and Sasuke wince.

"It was no secret what Sasuke and I were trying to do so when we began evacuating the village in response to Iwa and Kumo making one last push into the village, I was told in no uncertain terms by the entirety of the shinobi forces that I could shove my offer to let them leave up my ass." Naruto said shaking his head.

"The ninja stayed behind and the surviving civilians refused to evacuate the village as well. They insisted that it was their village and that they had lived their life the way that they wanted. Said they were tired of letting the shinobi protect them and the village while they hid away cowering in fear. It didn't have to be said that anyone staying behind would not leave the village alive." Sasuke whispered looking away.

"They sacrificed themselves in order to buy us enough time to draw the seal in the center of the village and get through all five hundred hand seals. Luckily, for us the sight of such a large seal and an Uzumaki inside of it did what we wanted." Sasuke looked the at the occupants in the room and smirked.

"They froze, hesitatedfor the briefest of seconds which was all we needed. Though as for the actual village whoever survived long enough to see the jutsu activate most likely died at the same time as the Rai and Tsuchi kages, hopefully in the latter's cases." Sasuke confessed.

"What do you mean?" Kakashi asked.

"You know how we said that the seal was no secret? Well, that included the security seals that prevented anyone from ever replicating and using the seal themselves. Not that they could they would have enough chakra to pull it off. Thirty seconds after the seal activates the self-destruct mechanism activated. Think of it as a highly modified version of an explosive tag that absorbs all of the chakra that would otherwise be wasted activating it and condenses it mixing it with senjutsu and then expels it all at once. With the force Sasuke and I estimated to be the equivalent of approximately five to six bijudama." Naruto glanced at the shocked, horrified and flabbergasted looks he was getting.

"As I said, anyone staying behind wouldn't survive and they knew that. The explosion had several purposes. First, to destroy the seal and all of the research notes we may have missed in our first sweep. Second, kill as many of the enemy forces as we could to prevent them from turning their attention to Suna and Kiri. Neither, country had the forces remaining to repel Kumo and Iwa. Third, guarantee that none of corpses containing Konoha's bloodlines would be taken by enemy. Finally, the force of the explosion wouldn't even be felt by anyone caught in the blast radius which allowed us to accomplish the last goal. Prevent any of Konoha's surviving shinobi and civilians would not be taken captive and tortured for information on the seal knowing that they would not be saved. Essentially.."

"...a mercy kill." Shikaku finished quietly. Naruto nodded sadly.

"Gaara was willing to take in the children and any teens under the age of fourteen, insisting that they were innocent of the crimes of their ancestors providing that the ones old enough to understand knew that they would be accepting Suna residence and that if they became shinobi it would be for Suna. It was the best he could do. The daimyo was against anyone over the age of four being taken in but Gaara managed to get him to agree albeit reluctantly."

"So everyone over the age of fourteen was still in the village..."

"Yeah. A lot of the shinobi clans refused to send their bloodlines to another country so for the most part all of Hi no Kuni's bloodlines all died out the same day. It was mostly civilian children that left."

"For the most part?" Chouza asked questioningly.

"I can't answer that." Everyone's eyes widened as they finally reached a topic that he refused to discuss.

"All this would have been avoidable had we done things my way." Danzo finally spoke up confident that he would have some support. No one expected the blast of chakra nor the immense killing intent that came from Sasuke.

"YOUR WAY?! IT WAS BECAUSE OF YOU THAT WE GOT INTO THAT SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE!" He yelled preparing to lunge at the cripple.

"SIT DOWN SASUKE!" Naruto snapped. "You promised." Sasuke's eyes widened as he grit his teeth and started taking deep breaths trying to calm himself down. He had promised not to act rashly in regards to Danzo and he had almost broken that promise.

"...Sorry...Hokage-sama..." He whispered sinking into a chair. The room was quiet as everyone tried to regain their bearings from his outburst.

"Nii-san..."

"Hai." Hashirama whispered in surprise. "He's stronger than we were at his age. Discounting the time travel."

"He speaks non-sense. Besides he comes from a clan of traitors. I wouldn't be surprised if he were a traitor himself." Danzo snapped after regaining his composure and calming his racing heart.

"I never said I wasn't..."

"What?" Inoichi asked eyes slowly widening.

"I never said I wasn't a traitor. Truth is first time around I sever my ties to the leaf in approximately four months give or take." Sasuke confessed quietly. "I was so obsessed with getting revenge for my clan that nothing else mattered. No one else mattered. So when Orochimaru offered me a chance to get stronger, faster than I was in the leaf I took it without hesitating. Three years later I killed Orochimaru when he outlived his usefulness and went after Itachi. I didn't know about the coup and I didn't care. Nothing could have swayed me at that point. Itachi truly is a master of the shinobi arts you know. He played me like a fiddle even after his death. Of course when I learned the truth of what happened from Obito..."

"You joined the Akatsuki." Tobirama finished. Sasuke nodded.

"Attacked a Gokage summit to get my hands on Danzo. In the end, all I managed to do was validate his paranoia that the Uchiha were traitors, killed a bigger traitor than anyone in my clan could have ever been and literally disarmed the Raikage. I also became the second most hated Uchiha in all of the elemental nations...so..."

"What changed? Wait the Raikage was fighting armless?" Hashirama asked after a second making Tobirama face palm.

"I only took one with Amaterasu. What changed? Kabuto resurrected my brother and he told me what Obito neglected to tell me. I was still conflicted on what to do so I summoned all four previous kage to get my answers. In the end, I decided to fight with Konoha instead of against. Though, only the dobe really trusted me by that point. He was the only one that trusted me after I came back. Which is fine I didn't deserve anyone's trust after what I did. The fact he trusted me enough to ask me to come back with him and keep my head clear is something that I can never return..."

"Sasuke, I told you to stop going there. You were confused, manipulated, used and taken advantage of in your grief. You almost died, repeatedly against Madara and Kaguya to try and help us. You are not the kind of person that can hide their agenda that easily. Add in the fact you willingly submitted to partial chakra seals, a kill switch and dojutsu seal when you returned should say more than enough as to your honesty. I still say sealing you when Iwa and Kumo was attacking was the worst possible thing that they could have done but when has Koharu and Homura ever thought rationally and without fear of the what ifs?" He replied snapping at the two elders who flinched but met his gaze anyway.

"The safety of the village has always been and will always be our number one priority."

"He was a repeat traitor and should have been put to death. How he managed to avoid that outcome is beyond me." They sniffed in reply.

"So...how did the seals help protect Konoha in the end then?" The two froze as their faces turned from arrogant righteousness to shock.

"Sasuke and I were able to keep pace with Madara for hours with our full capacity. Madara single handedly decimated a majority of the shinobi forces. Sasuke, while he had less endurance and chakra than I do has more control and less wasted movements in his fighting style. Meaning he could have lasted as long or longer than myself on the battlefield. Susanoo could have protected countless shinobi from dying the way that they did. However, two fossils incapable of changing and adapting to the future limited his chakra and the amount of techniques he could use to the level of an average jonin when we were at war with two of the five great nations with no back-up. One of his strongest attacks could have decimated an army by itself! However, he was to untrustworthy to point at our enemies. Bite your tongues you old bats until you learn that you can't reject change." Naruto snarled angrily.

"By the way, you should know that dobe doesn't like you." Sasuke snickered from his seat making everyone twitch.

"We are getting off track anyway." Naruto said shaking his head a Cheshire cat like grin spreading on his face. "Danzo, how do you normally approach these meetings? Are they meetings or battles that must be won to you?"

"Battles that must be won."

"I see. Have you fought an Uzumaki before?"

"Yes. I have fought one, in a sparring match when I was a genin."

"I see. What is the number one rule when fighting against an Uzumaki?"

"Never give them breathing room...or...time...to...cre...ate..." Danzo slowly trailed off as he rapidly lost color realizing his mistake.

"To create what?" Naruto pressed the grin spreading.

"...their seals..." As soon as he finished lines of black raced along the elder's bodies holding them in place as the room began glowing brightly as hundreds of seals began to activate in a fascinating to watch chain.

"So why did you? Did you really think a war veteran and kage with a history of unpredictability and pranking would let the room get that side-tracked for that long?"

"What are you doing?" Koharu screamed in rage as she attempted to break through the seals keeping her in place and sealing off her chakra.

"Apparently you still haven't figured it out yet. So let me clarify." Naruto said turning to look at them fully.

"Everything that you have done for "the good and safety of Konoha" Shimura Danzo is precisely why the village was destroyed not once, but twice in the span of one year. The Akatsuki started off as a resistance force against Hanzo the Salamander. They would have remained that way if you hadn't pushed Nagato over the edge by killing Yahiko, the leader. They had their doubts about Obito's plan and would have refused as they only really cared about ending the fighting and oppression that Hanzo caused. However, you and your ROOT went to Ame and interfered in a matter that would never have even affected Konoha in the first place." As Naruto stepped closer Kakashi felt his eyes widen in shock.

"That was during the second war. During the first, you killed Kagami Uchiha and stole his sharingan. You sent many shinobi to their deaths and directly orchestrated the massacre of the Uchiha clan angered that Hiruzen was still attempting peace and only wanted to kill off the conspirators. You forced Itachi into a corner using Sasuke's life as leverage. After the massacre you had your ROOT collect the sharingan of the victims, desecrating their corpses for your personal benefit. You prevented Shishui from ending the coup non-violently by attacking him and stealing his sharingan the night he was going to use kotoamtsukami to force the conspirators to drop the coup and returning their attention to Konoha's protection."

"Shishui would most likely have lost his eyesight casting it on that many Uchiha but willingly volunteered anyway to protect the village without diminishing it's already diminished forces thanks to the third war and the incident with Kurama. You couldn't have that though because that would mean that his genjutsu was out of your grasp. You have kidnapped many children and personnel from the hidden leaf for your own army and brainwashed others to be loyal to you and only you. Not the village, you. Nothing you have done was with the village's best interest in mind but your own. The two next you were well aware of your activities and could have stopped you, turned you in before it got this far. Before prosecuting you would become a political nightmare and before there would most likely be a backlash from the daimyo because of your connections."

"However, they were to blinded by the way that things were done in the past to see the present and the future. They were to afraid of the what if's you planted in their heads to think rationally. They knew better and they did nothing. You are here to advise not dictate. You are not more important than the elements that make the village, the people. Yet, you don't seem to understand that. You. All three of you, seem to think that the only way to protect Konoha is to turn it into a tyrannical empire that answers to you and you alone. News flash..." Naruto ranted getting close to the three.

"THAT'S WHAT KAGUYA DID WHEN SHE BECAME PARANOID AND DELUSIONAL!" Taking a calming breath he sighed and quickly undid the bandages and seals hiding the sharingan from sight and step aside just as Hiashi was about to reprimand him for accusing someone of high treason with no proof.

"Is this what you wanted Hiashi? That substance his arm is made out of is Hashirama's DNA by the way. Meaning he desecrated the Shodaime's grave and corpse as well." Naruto retorted and sat down watching the expressions on everyone's faces.

"Sasuke, while I can't let you do what you want right now, you may remove your clan's property any way you see fit." Naruto granted. Turning to look at the other occupants in the room he smirked.

"So who's replacing the old senile leather bag?"

A/N: I apologize if a lot of this chapter was repeats from previous chapters but the whole truth needed to come out so that Sasuke and Naruto would have a little more freedom in regaining their skills. Furthermore, I know that there will be that one person that complains that the alliance breaking or the fifth war isn't canon. Well, SPOILER ALERT, in Boruto the alliance was broken apart by Kurotsuchi on the request of her daimyo as she agreed to go to war with Kumo. While it has yet to devolve into the fifth war (that I know of) since I don't follow Boruto at all and only know the above fact due to research I needed for Underneath the Underneath the alliance breaking is canon. So :P Anyway, let me know what you think as the story will actually pick up next chapter. Until next time! Ja ne!
