"Come on," I said, herding my group back towards Hogwarts. "Let's get some hot chocolate or something." I put my hand on Harry's shoulder, pulling him closer. "Nice job, Harry."
"Thanks, Rita."
"So, let me get this straight- Dumbledore sent you all to the bottom of the lake?"
I shifted in the armchair as Harry talked with my father about the most recent task. His hair was starting to curl around his ears as it dried.
"Yeah." Harry replied quietly. The common room was empty besides the two of them and her father's face in the coals. "If it wasn't for Neville, I would have failed."
I huffed. "You should have opted out and taken the zero."
Harry looked to me and back to the fireplace. "Rita's still angry."
My father nodded. "She has a point, though. Whoever put your name in the Goblet wants you in the tasks, so the less you participate might be the better."
"Thank you!" I exclaimed. "Harry's being unreasonable."
"Am not." He said with a frown, pushing up his glasses. I heard the common room door open and cast a glance over my shoulder. Fred walked in, George for once not in tow.
"Ah, if it isn't Harry Potter, King of the Lake!" Fred said. I scoffed and turned back around.
"What?" Fred asked. "Was it something I said?"
I caught harry's look he sent his way.
"Hello, Fred. How's the joke shop funds coming?" Sirius asked.
Fred sighed dramatically. "Stiff, my good sir. People are so cheap." He clucked his tongue and plopped down on the arm of my chair, sprawling across the back of it. I cast an irritated look towards the coals, only receiving a laugh in reply.
"Anyways," Harry says, gaining Sirius' attention again, "Dumbledore says we'll get the next task in May, and then go through it in June."
My father nodded. "So there's time to figure out more about who put your name in."
Fred 'psst'd in my ear as they continued to talk.
"What color is your dress for the yule? Mum wants to know what colors to send," he said, rolling his eyes.
I laughed quietly. "Light yellow."
"Yellow?" He asked indignantly. "Do you know how that will look with my hair?"
"Like sunshine." I replied, smiling. Fred laughed and put a hand to his forehead.
"What did I get myself into?"
I laughed again quietly. "Honestly, I couldn't tell you."
"Keep it clean over there, you two." Sirius cut in.
I guffawed and looked at Fred then back at my father. "We are!"
"Mhm." He hummed in mock disbelief. "I'm not old enough to be a grandfather yet."
Fred and I looked at each other before pulling disgusted looks.
"No way." We said in unison.
"I already have enough on my hands with Survivor's Complex over here." I added, motioning to Harry.
My father smiled. "Just kidding," His face became stern. "But not really. Now, Harry-"
I tuned him out and shook my head.
"Come on, let's go start some trouble." Fred said.
I grinned. "Getting bored, Freddy?"
He groaned and stretched dramatically across the chair. "Bloody bored."
I patted his leg and stood up. "Let's go mess with Flitwick, or something. Do you still have those levitating candies?"
Fred eyed me mischievously as we headed towards the common room door. "What are you planning, Black?"
I smiled gleefully, happy for the distraction. "You'll see, Weasley ol' boy."
