Underneath the Underneath

Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto, trust me I wish I did.
A/N: Back again. I'll be honest in saying, as I did in my last update on another story, that I have not been motivated to update because of the constant reviews telling me to kill myself solely because they don't like the pairing. The pairings and other elements are mentioned, repeatedly. If you don't like then skip it, stop reading or ignore the story all together. Besides there is a way to filter out the stories with pairings that you don't like or restrict the search feature to just the pairings you like. START USING IT! Sorry about the rant you know the drill!
Guest, deltadragon373: I dislike Kurenai because despite all of her boasting and desire to see Hinata get stronger, she does absolutely nothing to help her. As far as being a jonin is concerned she is just as bad as Kakashi in terms of improving her team. Otherwise, Hinata's confidence wouldn't have remained the same for the duration of four to five years. I hate her because, like Kakashi, she failed the student that needed her the most.
Jenuzumaki: I agree that you should never wait for a jutsu to be completed, however, by knowing the basis of the jutsu being used makes it easier. Plus some jutsu could be deadly if interrupted so it is not always as clear cut as stopping the jutsu.
MaeTenshi15: Sure you can keep Iruka! Lol :)
Trace Reading: It's less of a classification and more an easier way to describe the amount of chakra someone has. "Kage-level reserves" merely acts as a way to say that the person's chakra is similar in size to the reigning kage at the time. Not an actual level or classification. I think a lot of authors use it for simplicities sake. Especially since there are lot of things that Kishimoto never explained when it comes to how the ninja system works. Furthermore, I'm sorry that Kakashi wasn't able to defeat the Kyubi or hold his own or match her...how is that an overpowered beat down?!
The One True Nobody: Actually all one has to do is listen to the way the adults talk about Naruto to figure out that there is a secret. So it was never that much of a secret when the parents have been discussing it for twelve years. They just like to pretend that it is a secret.
TheWateringWizard: That is true but at the same time Ibiki does a horrible job of actually explaining it in my opinion...
"hello" people (bijuu in human form) speaking
'hello' people (bijuu in human form) thinking/coded hand signals
"HELLO" bijuu (full demon form)/summoning/deity yelling
"hello" bijuu (full demon form)/summoning/deity talking
'hello' bijuu (full demon form)/summoning/deity thinking
hello jutsu
**********In It's Path********
"To late!" Orochimaru yelled as he brought his hands down on the ground. "This is a jutsu that I have been working on for years." He bragged as a mist slowly began to enter the field that Naruto had set up. Unlike normal mist this one seemed dark purple almost black in color. Naruto raised an eyebrow as he felt the sword in his hand pulse in irritation when it came in contact with the odd mist.
"Shi no Mezame."
"Did that jutsu's name have...?" Naruto trailed off sweat dropping.
'Yes...Honestly was expecting something else when some of the Shiki Fuin's seals were used...' Minato said twitching. The sequence Orochimaru had used and unknowingly included nearly the entirety of the sequence for the jutsu that had claimed his life and he had reacted based off a potential variation but somehow he was a lot less concerned. All three genin watched in boredom as several shapes began to rise from the ground and Naruto sighed as the sword pulsed again.
"Fine. Just stop distracting me." He said bringing the sword up and releasing a wave of black colored chakra at the mist and figures in front of him. Almost instantly the technique was dispelled and Orochimaru felt himself twitch.
"How did you do that?"
"My sword hates you a lot..." Naruto dead panned making the twitch worse. These brats were getting worse and somehow his new jutsu was easily defeated..he was going to have to use it after all. Not allowing the genin another moment he sped through a short chain of seals and put his hand s back on the ground.
'Naruto...he's using it. Nice call by the way.'
'Figured he would. When you mentioned that jutsu among one of the possibilities that he would have taken I knew he would. It was to good to pass up. The question is who?'
"Kuchiyose Edo Tensei." Three coffins began to rise from the ground and Naruto shook his head.
"You really don't learn do you?"
"Naruto..take the zombies and then rejoin Hinata and I..." Kimiko sighed. She knew these scents.
"Um...I don't think I'm ready to fight them..." He said eyeing the forms of the Shodaime and Nidaime. The third figure he could only guess was Kakashi sensei's father based on appearance.
"Then summon help." She sighed running towards Orochimaru as he placed seal tags in the three shinobi's head.
"Tamashi Kage Bunshin no Jutsu." Naruto called softly as soon as Orochimaru was distracted.
"Well this should be fun." Kushina said smirking as Minato shook his head.
"Please tell me you brought some of my kunai with you."
"I brought some of your kunai and worked the kinks of the jutsu out so you should have them on you as well." Naruto laughed as the family jumped apart avoiding the water dragon that the Nidaime had sent at them. Swiftly drawing one of tri-pronged kunai he had become known for Minato jumped straight above the three and threw it straight down.
"Kunai Kage Bunshin no justu." One kunai turned into a hailstorm that blanketed the area and Minato quickly flashed away behind the late white fang placing his hand on the man's back before flashing away to avoid a spin kick aimed at his head. Glancing towards Kushina he nodded as she kept forcing the Shodaime and Nidaime to dodge multiple chains and her sword in order to avoid being mobilized. Naruto had taken advantage of this and had closed his eyes. While he had made progress, he had yet to learn much of his new eyes but what he did know was more than enough for what needed to be done.
"Hansha." Naruto whispered as he felt his body shift. Within seconds he was behind the three late shinobi who had been thrown into one another. Gritting his teeth Naruto opened his eyes revealing the changes that had occurred to them. Instead of the bright blue that he had at the start of the battle, his eyes were now in the shape of what could only be described as a flower bud. The bud was a banana yellow color sitting on a pale turquoise blue background. The massive amounts of chakra building caught the attention of all the other combatants and Orochimaru caught a brief glimpse of the blonde's eyes before his already bad day got worse.
"Hamon." The building chakra exploded outwards in a visible ripple quickly filling in every inch of the barrier. Everything inside was hit and within seconds the purpose became clear. The Edo Tenseii Orochimaru had been counting o to help him get rid of the pests before him began to come undone and then fall into itself as the jutsu was cancelled somehow. Minato's cloned kunai dispelled for seemingly no reason as did Hinata's cloned arrows. When the ripple struck him however, the effect was somewhat different than what they had expected. Admittedly, when Naruto used the jutsu he hadn't expected an effect on Orochimaru. Instead, his body practically exploded as a massive white snake emerged howling in agony.
"WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!" He demanded glaring at the gaping shinobi.
"I think the question is what did you do to yourself, Orochimaru?" Minato choked out in shock.
"I WILL KILL ALL OF YOU FOR THIS! TO HELL WITH WHAT THEY WANT!" He yelled lunging at the genin. The sannin had lost all semblance of composure and control and was attacking blindly in a rage. Glancing back at the genin Minato smiled.
"You ready to end this?"
"I'm...a...little...dizzy.." Naruto whispered. Glancing back at the blond Kimiko noted that his eyes had reverted back to normal and his chakra reserves were almost gone. Sending her chakra through their link he nodded in thanks and shook his head.
"Good. Hinata, Kimiko and I will draw his attention and ensure that you can ensnare him with your chains Kushina. Hold him still long enough for Naruto to get a clear shot so he can remove his head. It is the fastest method. We will likely only get one shot at this so make it fast Naruto." Nodding to his father, Naruto crouched out of sight and patiently waited for the opportune moment to strike. Hinata quickly notched and arrow and sent it flying at the rampaging snake before her. It once more began to multiply and Orochimaru was forced to abandon his search for the now missing team to avoid the hail.
Unfortunately, for the snake it only sent him right in the path of a devastating punch from the red haired vixen to the face and a Rasengan to the back from the late fourth Hokage. Slamming into the ground he found himself unable to move as or escape as golden chains erupted around him binding to the ground. The fog of rage dissipating when the reality of the situation he was in settled in Orochimaru began struggling to find a way to escape from the chains, despite knowing it was futile.
Admittedly, he had thought that his end, in the event that he failed to achieve immortality, would be more memorable. More likely to make a lasting impression on the elemental nations, like taking Konoha with him. Instead he was helpless as the Yondaime's son appeared above him and raised his odd sword channeling chakra into it. Futon chakra, he realized at the last moment when his mind went blank.
Naruto looked down at the headless snake and shook his head in sadness. Orochimaru had so much potential that he could have used to assist in making the world a safer, happier place and he squandered it in the search of immortality. Now the only thing he would be known for is vile human experimentation and as a traitor. It truly was a waste.
"Well...that was anti-climatic." Kushina mused as the group just stared.
"You'd think by now he would have learned to keep his arrogance and temper in check." Minato deadpanned.
"Yes well...We should destroy the body and get moving..." Hinata said somewhat exhausted from the fight. While the fight was very difficult even with them following the many plans they had made the battle was still somewhat easier than she had imagined. Only slightly though. Nodding Naruto moved to place his sword back in the sheath when it began to pulse and a black fog not dissimilar to Orochimaru's jutsu began to rise from the snake's body. The corpse began to blacken and disintegrate as the fog was pulled into Naruto's sword. As soon as it completely faded Minato and Kushina began to give off a soft white glow that lasted a few seconds before fading.
"Did.." Naruto whispered hopefully looking at his parents who immediately tried to cancel the jutsu that had brought them out.
"Yes...I believe so..." Kushina said happily as nothing happened. Gaining a massive smile Naruto threw himself into her arms shrieking happily. Laughing she glanced over at Minato who had an amused expression.
"Well you are alive now...but how will this affect the test? You weren't technically a part of the team when we entered." Kimiko pointed out.
"At the same time we were "summoned" in a way. We will just have to leave and wait for you at the tower now." Minato countered as Naruto whined.
"Don't worry we'll be there waiting...Most likely in disguise for now." Nodding Naruto released his grip on Kushina and waved as the two vanished in Minato's infamous yellow flash.
"What do you say we finish this test?" He chirped at his teammates who nodded.
Back with Kakashi...
"This new seal you mentioned.." Anko said feeling the unease rising from Kakashi's declaration. The room had been silent for almost a half hour now as the gathered shinobi digested the information they had been given. It was actually a terrifying thought for all of them. Madara had been considered the only shinobi to never have an exploitable weakness and his prowess in battle had never been matched.
"A small unnoticeable seal that goes behind the ear. It links together the minds of the people who have it and allows the user to speak telepathically with any of the people who have it. Similar to the Yamanaka's technique but with far less chakra cost and a greater range of effectiveness." Kakashi stated.
"Granted you still have to use a small amount of chakra to direct the thoughts to appropriate recipient but the amount is negligible and unnoticeable to any sensors, dojutsu users and sages as it never the leaves the body and is just redirected. This allows fore more reliable communication across distances especially when there isn't enough visibility to use hand signs and allows for a request for backup to be sent at the moment the need becomes apparent cutting the arrival time in half."
"You're telling me that a genin designed this seal and is currently field testing it as we speak in the forest of death?" Ebisu choked out in shock.
"Yes." Kakashi confirmed. "As of it now it is considered a success though there isn't enough data to make it reliable, yet."
"My god." Just before Ebisu could ask another question a terrifyingly familiar yellow flash erupted next to Kakashi and two very dead people were now beside him.
"You managed to kill him?" Kakashi asked in surprise.
"Yup." Kushina chirped laughing at the expressions around them.
"Granted Naruto didn't have a choice but to summon us when Orochimaru used the Edo Tensei." Minato growled in distaste.
"Who did he bring back? Were we correct in our theories?"
"The Shodaime, Nidaime and the White Fang." Minato said wincing as Kakashi went rigged and began to growl. "Granted they were only at about half strength and we were able to cancel the jutsu but still...it was kind of fun to see where I stood against my predecessors."
"Yondaime-sama...are you truly back?"
"Hai. For now though I think that it would be best to keep our presence here in the village a secret until at least the second phase is over. Perhaps even wait until the finals." Minato suggested.
"Good point." Hiruzen nodded. "In between would be better as the daimyo wouldn't be here and we would be able to quell any riots easier that way."
"Good point." Kushina thought before grinning. "Are our old ANBU masks being used?"
"No."
"Great then we have our disguises until then! Now if you don't mind we have to leave, get changed and make it to the tower before Naruto does!" She yelled excitedly as Minato grinned and flashed away with her.
"We're doomed aren't we?"
"Maybe."
Back in the forest with Naruto...
After Minato had departed, team eleven had made their way towards their friends all the while talking quietly about what they intended to work on based off of the fight they had just had. It was clear to them that Hinata still needed some work on her reserves to make the best of the jutsu she had and to get her dojutsu to it's maximum potential. Naruto had come to the conclusion he really needed to work on his dojutsu as he still wasn't exactly sure what the second jutsu he had used did. Kimiko, well, she just wanted more challenging fights.
"Hey Samui, how is everyone?" Naruto said stepping into the clearing only to sweat drop at the scene before them. Sasuke and Kiba were tied up and gagged and Karui was rubbing Aimi's back as she wailed about the uselessness of her team.
"Well they are alive. Though if you had left us with those two much longer they may not have been." She replied hotly. Laughing a little Naruto smiled at his friends.
"Do you have both scrolls?"
"Yeah. Took theirs as payment for their lives, and in order to get some payback for the mutt hitting on me and acting like I should be grateful to have his attention." Samui growled.
"Well everything is settled, so do you want to come with us to the tower?" Hinata asked warmly and smiled brighter as the Kumo team nodded. Glancing back at Aimi Naruto gave a sympathetic look before leaning over.
"You can either find a good hiding place and stay there for the next couple of days leaving them like that or untie them and follow their stupidity to the tower and watch them get their asses handed to them." Nodding in understanding Aimi waved as the two teams left and sighed at her teammates glared at her for not untying them.
'This is going to be a long five days.' She thought to herself.
*********T.B.C**********
A/N: This took a little longer than expected to get out mostly due to the fact that I got stuck when I tried to decide whether or not Naruto would get the Rinnegan and when I decided against I was lost as to what to give him. So I had to create my own dojutsu. That was super hard and I had no idea where to start. I finally made one that I don't think is overpowered and takes a lot of work to gain. I'm still unsure if I like the final result and may continue to tweak it as we go but for now I am fine with it. As for the color it will not stay banana yellow on pale turquoise. The blue will remain but the final pattern will be changing and evolving. For an idea of what it looks like now it it's initial phase look at my cover image or do a google image search for "yellow lotus bud dragonfly" and it should be the second image that comes up. the cover image should be updated as the dojutsu evolves.
I was also at a loss over whether or not I wanted to just kill Orochimaru now or later and I finally decided to do it now. I hope that his defeat was believable...If not let me know how I can rewrite it so that it is. Bare in mind that they did have Minato and Kushina helping them and both were considered to be powerful shinobi and that when the edo tensei was used initially the Shodaime and Nidaime were not at full power. The first jutsu that he used was something that he created in an attempt to "control" death and the dead which is why Naruto was able to dispel it with his sword. Yes, Naruto could have used his sword on the Edo Tensei but even with Minato and Kushina do you really think he would get the chance? Kimiko left the "zombies" to Naruto because the Shodaime had the ability to restrain her once and she wasn't sure if he still could with the same effect. In any event, let me know what you think and if there are any typos that need changed. Ja ne!
Shi no Mezame – A jutsu of Orochimaru's creation developed with the intention of being able to control the dead and death itself. Clearly it didn't work as expected and was still in the developmental stage. However, it could still summon a black fog that created earthen creatures from the spirits of the dead, that would normally be nearly impossible to kill. Naruto was able to dispel it because his sword has a small amount of the death god's power and forcibly returned the creatures created from the spirits of the dead to the afterlife.
Hansha – Reflection – One of the initial stage abilities of a unnamed dojutsu. It allows the user to move his location based on the path light would take when reflected off of an object. When the dojutsu becomes more developed and reaches later stages the user may move through any reflected surface. (For example, a lake surface that reflects the sky and treetops. When the later stages are reached the user will be able to move through the lake's reflection and into the treetops or in the air if they desire.) This ability is not useful indoors.
Hamon – Ripple – One of the abilities available in the initial stage of the dojutsu. By focusing on an area of effect the dojutsu releases a blast of chakra in a ripple pattern that temporarily disrupts all jutsu not cast by the user. However, the user can not direct or control the pulse and the chakra required for the jutsu is based on the area of effect and not the user's will. Once the ripple expands outwards it can not be stopped or canceled. This jutsu requires a recovery time equivalent to the amount of chakra used and during this time the dojutsu can not be used.
