The Avatar has kept the world of Reylea in balance for nearly 10,000 years, until the Fire Nation attacked, and he was lost. But what many people didn't know, is that the Avatar wasn't Reylea's only protector. There was also one who protected it from enemies beyond the stars, known as the Watcher.

1. Prologue

Journal Entry #1

Ever since the beginning of civilization on Reylea, its people possessed the ability to bend the elements around them. For each of the four elements, there arose a unique nation whose entire culture was based on their chosen element:

The Water Tribes, who manipulate the element of Water.

The Earth Kingdom, who utilize the element of Earth.

The Fire Nation, who harness the element of Fire.

And the Air Nomads, who practice the element of Air.

For nearly all of recorded history there was peace and prosperity throughout the world, which was kept in balance under the guiding force of the Avatar, the only one who could bend all four elements at once. The Avatar first came into being many millennia ago when a young firebender by the name of Wan fused with one of the Great Spirits, Raava, to prevent Reylea from the threat of 10,000 years of Darkness.

Although the Avatar has existed for generations, being reborn time and time again through a countless number of lifetimes, the truth behind what really gave all Reyleans their power has long since been left a mystery.

Before the age of the Avatar, and before even the Great Spirits themselves, Reylea was chosen to be the conduit for one of the greatest powers in the universe: the Force. As a conduit of the Force itself, Reylea maintained a strong connection to it far greater than any other planet in the galaxy. Because of this power, there has always been another who has kept watch over Reylea, whose presence remained secret to even the Avatar themselves.

Known only as the Watcher, they have kept a watchful eye over Reylea for as long as the Avatar has existed, safeguarding the planet from those who would seek to do it harm. Every generation, one wielder of the Force would be selected from amongst the Jedi Order to be given the life-long burden of guarding Reylea, ensuring that it remains nothing more than myth and legend to the galaxy. The nature of this secret is so powerful that only the Grand Master of the Jedi Order, and the Watcher's themselves, known the truth.
