Hey guys, what is up! Ready for Chapter 1? I sure am!
"All cats gather beneath the Frostbitten Rock for a Clan meeting. And yes, kits shall be included." the powerful cream tabby sat tall. His sharp claws dug into the ice as shards of it were scattered along the rock. The tom tapped his claws impatiently. Bracken Spots was right there, below the rock, gazing high.
Slowly, the cats of ShiverClan gathered beneath the cream tabby, known as Sandstar, and he is their leader. "Hurry up, this is extremely important news." Sandstar grumbled. Soon enough, the sounds of grass being crunched no longer filled the air. The cream tabby sighed.
"One of the patrols this morning has seen a... confusing sight." Sandstar paused, his eyes flickering between Bracken Spots, Bat Eyes, and Snowing Skies like chips of amber ice. "Twolegs were sighted making some sort of pelt nest on one of the back hills." And with sharp sticks. Bracken Spots added to himself.
Sandstar looked down at his clanmates coldly. "This is an obvious sign that StarClan doesn't want us here, and we must leave very soon!" He yowled to the sky. The clouds were frozen like fluffy balls of snow. There was a gasp from everyone in the clan. Wait.. what?
One of the copper-colored warriors, Chasing Wind, hissed "Other clans have dealt with Twolegs before! This doesn't mean we have to leave!" Snowing Skies also joined the rebuttal. "You can't possibly be serious! This is our home!" she growled, unsheathing her claws.
Sandstar isn't a good leader, he's been intolerable ever since he was made deputy. It was strange that Falconstar chose him as the deputy instead of Mountain Pelt, a far more nobler warrior. It was a shame both of them died of greencough shortly after Sandstar was appointed deputy. Sandstar was mean and power-hungry. The cream tabby tom slammed his paw on ice, silencing all the cats. "Quiet! All of you!" he growled. "You will listen to me this instant!"
Bracken Spots gazed at him with confusion. What does he mean it is a sign from StarClan? Sandstar gulped. "Alright then. Considering I have a clan of brainless kits, we will not be leaving... unless the Twolegs come anywhere near us! Then we are out!" He yowled. "Do I make myself clear?"
Bracken Spots and his clanmates stayed silent. They were quieter than snowflakes falling from the dull sky. Sandstar let out a growl before turning around and heading into his den on the rocks. Everyone sat in place before...
"Dreary Meadow! You can't possibly be okay with this!" a voice hissed. That was their medicine cat, Speckled Petal. She was a very kind cat, and often was positive and passionate. But right now, she had a tint of anger in her voice.
The gray she-cat she was talking to muttered, "Of course I'm not okay with leaving, and this is very out of the blue, even for him. But he is our leader, and our ancestors gave him nine lives." she finished before stalking off towards the Frostbitten Rock.
I'm glad I didn't tell him about the sharp sticks the Twolegs were using. Bracken Spots was deep in thought until he heard Snowing Skies hiss, "We should overthrow him!" Her clanmates looked at her in awe, before Bat Eyes padded closer to her. "You know we can't do that, Snowing Skies. StarClan gave him nine lives like Dreary Meadow said."
Snowing Skies growled before looking off sadly. "But this is our home, we can't leave just because of some Twoleg action." One of her clanmates, a light brown she-cat known as Hill Breeze, padded up to her. "It's not just because of Twoleg action. There's no prey!"
The white she-cat looked back at her. "Of course there is prey! Look!" She flicked her long, fluffy white tail towards the skinny rat that she caught with Bracken Spots and Bat Eyes. Hill Breeze rolled her eyes.
"Don't be blind, Snowing Skies. That mangy thing was half dead before you even caught it. Let's face it. The Highstones isn't a home for us. Sandstar is right." The light brown she-cat looked at her clanmates, her emerald eyes full of reason.
Bracken Spots let out a small sigh before meowing, "No one said survival was easy, Hill Breeze. Sure the Highstones don't have much prey now but they could soon. Hunger gives us a drive for survival and adaptation."
Bat Eyes nodded in agreement. "We're the strongest cats out of all six clans! We can take down grown eagles like it is nothing." The black tom rested his tail tip on Hill Breeze's shoulder, and she rubbed against him. They make such good mates.
It was only a few moons ago that Hill Breeze birthed Towering Tree and Spiked Pelt. Bat Eyes's two sons. The night of her birth was the scariest moment of his life. Bracken Spots flicked his tail. It wouldn't be safe for the kits to move.
"We also have ponds frozen with juicy.. fat.. fish." Showering Sleet meowed slowly, licking her lips. She and her brother, Frozen Pond, came from RiverClan to join ShiverClan after Eelstar's tyranny. It took a Clan War to kill him. One of the most evil cats to live.
Her brother nodded in agreement. "This place has the biggest birds and the fattest fish! While there is fewer prey, one piece of it can usually feed so many clanmates!" Frozen Pond mewed cheerfully. Snowing Skies wrinkled her blackberry nose. "Not all of us like stinky fish."
Showering Sleet narrowed her eyes at the white she-cat. "Not all of us like your scrawny rats." The she-cat shot back. Snowing Skies growled and stalked off towards the Warriors Den. Showering Sleet ruffled her pelt. "Speaking of fish, me and Frozen Pond are going to go get some near Crow Hill." The two gray siblings walked out of the camp entrance.
Eagle Wing, a dark brown she-cat with white paws, yawned. "I was woken up after an early morning patrol to deal with drama from our incompetent leader. No thank you." She stretched out, her muscles flexing.
"Since this is over," Eagle Wing was cut off with another yawn. Louder than a wolf's howl. Bracken Spots smirked. "I'm going back to my nest, where it is lined with the hawks I killed a few sunrises ago." Then she padded off too.
Chasing Wind, one of the cats who outburst against Sandstar earlier, hissed "Sandstar is out of his mind! Falconstar must've had bees in his brain for choosing such an arrogant mouse-heart to be the deputy! He's only a few rocks off of Eelstar." The copper-colored tom scowled.
Sandstar may be... controlling, but I wouldn't say he's like Eelstar! "Chasing Wind, let's try to stay positive. Sandstar is strange, but he's our leader." Bracken Spots reassured the huffing warrior.
"Alright, alright. Fine. But if he makes another outlandish claim again, I'll claw his ears off!" Chasing Wind muttered. "Snowing Skies, let's go out hunting and get a fat osprey. Then Sandstar might change his mind."
He beckoned Snowing Skies with his tail, and they padded off in the same direction that Showering Sleet and her brother went. "So now it is just us." Speckled Petal sighed, full of relief. "I hope Sandstar decides against this, where would we leave to?"
Hill Breeze looked at her with concern. "I'd imagine away from the clans... there'd be no room for us anywhere." She licked her right paw. "But Sandstar probably isn't thinking straight! So let's listen to Bracken Spots and stay positive." She flashed her gaze over to Bracken Spots and he nodded in approval.
At least someone understands.. He thought. Looking to the sky, Bracken Spots let out a sigh, breathing in the chilly air of his home. There's no way Sandstar would make us leave. It's not possible. This is our home.
Suddenly, four pelts broke into the camp, ruffled and wide eyed. Showering Sleet yowled, "The Twolegs! They're making pelt nests everywhere! And they are destroying Mothermouth!"
Boom! What do you think of that ending? What do you think of Sandstar? Do you agree with Hill Breeze or Chasing Wind? Review! :D
