Chapter 4: Lapse of Time
"Now close your eyes and we shall be on our way."
Then there was a flash of light that engulfed them. They disappeared.
'What's going on? Why does my entire body feel numb? Can't move.'
Jin was floating in the air of blank space. There was nothing. The area surrounding him was never ending. Everything was pure white as a blank and clean slate. Not even a speck of color could be found.
"Jin," a gentle voice spoke, but sounded faint. He didn't respond. It was like his muscles refused to make any sudden movements. 'Mother,' he thought. The voice he heard sounded pure and smooth as silk, just the way his mother sound. Is he dead?
"Jin. Jin. Jin!" He finally snapped back to reality. His body jolted itself awake. Then he realized the nature of his surroundings. There was nothing, but everything seemed to be never-ending. There was no kind of exit in sight. That's when he remembered that flash of light. That was the source of bringing him to such a place. Then Angel. Where was she? He looked beside him to see that she was present by his side.
"What is this place?" He said confused and in awe. "Are we in another dimension? Am I dead?"
Angel looked around as if the answers were floating about her as she put her arms behind her back. "You're not dead, that's for certain and yes we are in another dimension. I'd like to call this the Lapse of Time."
"Lapse of time?"
"Yes" she nodded. "It's a place where you can go to see the mistakes made in the past. It's up to you whether you want to change or remain the same as you are."
"Why does this sound forbidden?"
Angel didn't say anything for a bit and looked down at her feet. "Because it is," she finally said.
Jin surprisingly remained calm at her answer. "If it's forbidden then why are you willing to risk yourself in order to reveal a past to me?"
"This is a urgent matter, Jin. For the sake of you and your father."
"He's no father of mine." Jin said coldly.
Angel sighed. She made her way to stand a little closer to Jin. "Because of how you feel about him is the reason why you are here. We are here to see Kazuya's past. All the questions you have had for all these years will be answered, but it's up to you on how you take it. Will this be the best thing you see, no. But hopefully I'm willing to make you understand on the circumstances."
'Kazuya's past, huh.' Jin thought. Such a forbidden action, but this was a risk he had to take to finally unlock the truth he longed to seek? At this point there was no turning back. This was now or never kind of deal so he has to accept with no questioned ask. But speaking of questions...
"Before we go into Kazuya's personal life, I have yet to know you or your true intentions of doing this. Care to explain? You claim to be Kazuya's guardian angel, but the way things have turned out it looks like you have failed at that."
She looked at him with her soft cerulean eyes. "You're right, Jin. I have failed." She confessed sounding a little hurt at the the thought. "And that is something I'm not too thrilled about at all." She sighed and began, "I was originally Kazuya's mother guardian angel before she passed away. I was given the task to protect Kazuya at all cost, but unfortunately I failed when Devil gotten a hold of his soul. Kazuya purged all the goodness out of his heart in order to get revenge. There was no way to save his soul, but I still never stopped trying. I still watched over him no matter what. One day a mysterious women came into in life. It opened up an opportunity for me to finally save him like a cry for help. There was still goodness in his heart that I thought died when we was a child. During that time period, Devil and I fought for Kazuya's soul. A deadly battle at that, but I had failed a second time and nearly disappeared. Not only I, but Devil as well. A way to save himself, half of him had escaped from Kazuya and tried to resign inside an unborn child that shared the same blood as Kazuya. But the mother fought devil off with all her strength to protect her child. As I was recovering from my deadly wounds, I watched over the child to protect him as I tried to with Kazuya til this day. But I wasn't as strong spiritually back then as I am now. Now is a crucial time and I will do anything in my power to set things right, end this chaos that will soon put the entire world in devastation." As she finished she gave Jin a warm smile. "That is why I'm here now."
After hearing her story, he was stunned. "When you say mysterious women, you mean my mother?" Angel nodded. "And half of Devil that came from Kazuya is within me? And you've been watching over me this whole time?" She nodded again. To her surprise, she found herself dodging a punch that almost connected to her jaw.
"What's the matter with you?"
Jin nose flared out as he inhale and exhale hot air. Angry was not the word to describe what he was feeling right now. He was livid. "You been watching over me this whole fucking time? And what have you done to protect me, huh?!" Both of his hands clenched into tight fists.
"Jin.. I." Angel began. "Don't!" He interrupted her. " My entire life has been hell and you watched without doing nothing! Where were you when my mother was killed by Ogre and destroyed our home? Where were you when Heihachi used and betrayed me by shooting me in the face?! What about devil taking his place in my soul when my mother was there to no longer protect me? Or when Kazuya finally made his presence known after twenty-fucking-one years and tried to kill me?! Tell me that!"
"You have every right to be angry with me, Jin. I would be too. I was given a task that I failed too many times. I couldn't protect Kazuya's mother, him, or you. Forgive me Jin. Right now I want to set things right even if it means to risk my life to do it then so be it. But I need you to put your trust in me right now, Jin. I was weak back then, but no longer will I make such an excuse. Devil no longer has control over your soul now, so that give me all the time I need to help you and set things right."
Jin didn't want to believe her, but she did get rid of Devil. Although once you fail three times how can you be trusted? He sighed and messaged his temples. What to do? He calmed down a bit and looked at Angel. "Okay." He said. "I'll put my trust in you, but just to go through this with you. If your intentions is to set things right then so be it. I'm willing to take that risks with you."
Angel smiled. "Thank you. Thank you for trusting me." She walked up to him and put her hand on his shoulder. As her hand made contact, Jin felt a little light. All the anger he held against her disappeared. He was at ease. "Well then, shall we began." she started. Jin nodded.
"Alright then. 1...2...3"...SNAP! A flash of light had engulfed them and they disappeared.
They stood near a large mansion. It was grand. A three story building made from nothing but bricks. The Mishima symbol embroidered above the large ebony doorway of the mansion. There laid a large fountain before the walkway of stairs that led all the way down towards the large gates of the entrance.
"The Mishima Estate." Jin said more to himself. The place was all too familiar especially when he first stepped foot on this land when he was ordered by his mother to seek out Heihachi if anything was to happened to her. When he became CEO of the Zaibatsu he did change the place up a bit. But looking at it now it looked very lively. The garden was fresh and full of blooms. Not a tree nor blade of grass in sight that seen a dull moment. 'Such as evil place to look full of life', he thought.
Suddenly, the ebony doors opened and before them stood a large man. He wore no shirt over his massive muscles, but golden hakama pants and geta sandals. Bald at the top, but his grey hair was long and tied into a ponytail and his beard spiked back towards his ears. Next to him was a boy right at the height of the man's knee wearing a white gi. His head full of angry jet black hair that pointed slightly behind his head. He had the signature thick Mishima brows as the old man he stood beside.
"Come on, Kazuya. I'd like to teach you some more techniques you need to learn in order to perfect our fighting style."
"Okay, grandpa." The young Kazuya said in determination.
"Let's be on our way then lad." As they were making their way in the gardens that led towards the family dojo a voice called from afar behind them.
"Wait for me, Mr. Jinpachi and Kazuya!" It was the sound of a little girl.
"Ah, Miss Jun. You've come to join us? The more the merrier. Come on young lads."
Jin eyes grew large at the sight of a young Jun that walked beside Kazuya and Jinpachi.
"Mother?!"
