Chapter 5: The Young Devil Arises Part I
"Ah, Miss Jun. You've come to join us? The more the merrier. Come on young lads."
"Mother?!"
"Let me get this straight." Jin shook his head in disbelief in hopes this was a joke. "So you're telling me that my mother and Kazuya knew each other as kids?" Just saying that gave Jin a foul taste to his mouth. A shiver went down his spine at the thought.
"I'm not telling you, but showing you and the answer is yes to your question." Angel remarked. "Childhood friends I should say." She laughed playfully.
"Don't", he brought his finger up as a warning. "I don't believe this. Show me the real thing and stop messing around."
He didn't want to believe it. This was impossible. He refused to believe it, but there was no time to be in denial. With her brushing it off like it was no big deal just made Jin agitated.
"Who said anything about messing around?" She put both of her hands on her hips and gave him a stern look. "Look, do you want my help or not? I did forewarned you that you weren't really going to like this much, but the truth is the truth whether we like it or not. So, what's it going to be Jin?"
'I hate it here already' He thought to himself. He sort of got himself into this, so he might as well deal with. Even thought it was frustrating he was just going to have to play along.
Jin let out a deep sigh in defeat. "Alright, alright." He put both hands out in front of him as if he was defending himself. "I'll follow your lead."
"Good." Angel gave a slight smile and looked at Jin softly. "This isn't going to be an easy ride Jin. It's going to be a very emotional one, so brace yourself. But just know I will be here with you." she assured him.
All he could was nod his head. He was somewhat in denial of what he was seeing but if what she said was true, then he was ready for the rough ride that was ahead of him. But he has to know the truth. There's no other way but this way and he had to be prepared for it.
'Maybe I can find a way to end this never-ending feud of this blood line.' He thought.
"Besides, Kazuya isn't as bad as you think. Just have to get to know him and understand him a little better."
Jin opened his mouth to protest, but Angel cut him off just before he could even utter a word.
"Let's go. You have so much to see." She began to make her way towards the path Jun, Kazauya and Jinpachi had gone. Jin followed suit. They followed them down the path that took them to the the family dojo, Honmaru.
'Whether you like it or not, you're just like your father', Angel thought with a chuckle.
"Wait. They can't see us, right?"
"Nope." she assured him. "We're as transparent as a ghost." She said as she began to float. She made her way to Jin, lightly touched his shoulders and he began to float too.
Jin never felt petrified in his life for the fact that he was caught off guard by her action making him float as she was almost hitting his head on the ground with his feet in the air. He had never liked being touched all of a sudden. He always levitated in the air as he transfers to Devil, but this embarrassment was to unbearable that he lost his balance at the sudden act.
"You gotta relax you know."
"Don't you think I know that." He said annoyed.
"We're already got side tracked, so we have to get a move on."
'You got us side tracked' He began to pout.
"Kazuya. Make sure when you side step to the right, the force of your left hand should match the flow of your body" Jinpachi instructed. "Take a careful look."
Jinpachi gave him another demonstration of how to execute the Mishima Ryu karate technique properly. With the sway of his body, he motioned his left foot first in front of him, positioning himself in his fighting stance. Like the flow of the wind, his motioned his right foot to take that side step and slicing his left hand along in a chopping motion, then pierce his right fist into the empty air, pivoting to end with a tsunami kick letting out a satisfying breath.
"Wow, Mishima-sama! That was amazing!" Jun praised. Only seven years of age, dressed in a purple kimono, dazzled with lilies all around, hems were golden, around her waist a golden obi. She wore a white headband to hold back her short raven hair. Her big brown eyes dazzled in delight at the sight of the art of the Mishima Ryu. Hoping one day she would master her family fighting style Kazama-Ryu Bujustu. Jun would visit from time to time to watch Kazuya train until it was time for them to play together. He was her only friend as she was his. Truth was kids her age back home would tease her, call her names like tree hugger or nature freak. She paid no heed to them at all for she was very mature for her age and they were just ignorant. But Kazuya on the other hand was fond of her and admired her abilities to get close to certain animals any human couldn't possibly dare. They understood each other. She was only able to visit whenever she would stay with her grandmother who lived closed by the Mishima Estate. Though she knew Jinpachi, it was alright for Jun to visit Kazuya.
"Why thank you Miss Jun" He smiled brightly. "Now Kazuya. Give it another try." Kazuya had watched carefully with determination as his grandfather finished demonstrating the technique. He mimicked his grandfather's exact moves from beginning to finish.
"Very Good!" Jinpachi praised. "I expected nothing less from my grandson." He walked over and ruffled his hair.
Kazuya laughed. "C'mon Jiji, stop."
"You will become a fine martial artists, young one. Just like your old man. We shall resume other training later. Until then, I'll let you and Miss Jun have your time together." He walked out the dojo into the Mishima garden leaving Kazuya and Jun alone.
"So, what do you wanna do today, Kazzy?" Jun asked giddily skipping her way towards him. A nickname only she was able to call him when they were only together by themselves. He had a pride to uphold and she respected that.
"Let's go by the lake. It's a nice day to be around there." He suggested.
They exited the dojo, having to go just a little further off the property of the Mishima estate into a forest where a lake was located. It was Kazuya and Jun's secret spot they like to hang around and also where they first met. They sat together near the lake, listening to the soft waters and frogs croaking their melody. Kazuya laid back using his hands to support the back of his head. Jun brought her knees to her chest and broke the silence.
"You know Kazzy, one day I'll become a great fight just like you. Maybe we could be partners? Like tag teams!"
"You think so? I don't know Jun-chan it'll take you a million years to even surpass me." Kazuya joked irritating Jun.
"Oh yeah? You haven't even mastered your family art of fighting. You're barely passed the beginners stage," She retorted back.
"Shut up! Your family hasn't even taught you your family style of fighting!"
"Not true! They have!"
"Wanna bet? Show me then unless you don't wanna get your precious kimono dirty," He teased.
"You're on!"
Kazuya and Jun stood up getting into their fighting stance. Jun stood with open palms in front of her, leg apart as Kazuya stood with loose fist his left leg in front of his right. Both eyes determined to prove the other wrong.
"Ready?" Kazuya asked.
"More than you know." Jun remarked.
Kazuya smirked thinking he of course had the upper hand charged forward towards Jun. Before he threw the first punch he crouched down about to land an upper cut until he's attack was suddenly parried when Jun grabbed his arm and flipped him over.
"Not a speck of dirt on my kimono, don't you say." Jun laughed at the sight of a stunned Kazuya lying straight on his back.
"No fair. I wanna rematch." He rolled over and stood back up.
" I won fair and square Kazzy and you know it."
"Well I let you have the upper hand so let's go again."
Jun got back into her stance. "Fine Kazzy, but you better not cry after I win again."
Kazuya scoffed as he got into his stance. "Yeah right."
"Ready?" Jun called.
Kazuya nodded his head.
They both charged each other. Jun delivering a left hook and for Kazuya a right. They both easily dodged it, but Jun grabbed Kazuya's arm again attempting to flip him over. Kazuya was not gonna fall for the same trick again and slipped from her grasp. He brought his right leg up, but Jun duck away and spun out of his way before he completed his tsunami kick. She performed a back flip almost hitting Kazuya as he staggers backwards but to be hit in the chin by Jun's elbow.
"I call that the Demon Slayer."
Getting irritated. Kazuya tackles her down. Pinning both her hands above her head. A golden locket that had been tucked away in his white gi top was now dangling in Jun's face.
"Looks like I won." Kazuya smirked
"No fair, you cheated."
"Did not."
"Did too!"
"Whatever."
"Umm Kazzy?" Kazuya noticed the position they were in and and blushed immediately as he got off of Jun. She too was blushing.
"Sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen." Kazuya was now embarrassed.
"It's okay Kazzy. It was an accident." They sat in silence once again listening to the soft waters of the lake again.
"Hey Kazzy?" Jun asked breaking the silence once again.
"Yes Jun-chan?"
"That locket you have, it's beautiful."
"Thanks. It's my mother's. It was given to me the last time I saw her."
"When was that?"
"I don't know. I haven't seen her in months. I keep asking my father where she is but he always says she just went away. I just don't understand it." he grabbed hold of the locket thinking of how much he misses his mother. He opened it to reveal a picture of his mother holding him as a newborn. The day she disappeared she gave it to him and told him to hold it close to his heart and never forget for she will always be there with him.
Jun looked at him with her big brown eyes with sympathy. She scooted over to him and embraced him into a hug shocking him at the same time. The sweet aroma of sweet pea filled his nostrils making him blush.
"I'm so sorry Kazzy! It sounds very hard without your mommy. Don't worry I'll be your place of comfort. That's what friends are for right?"
Kazuya nodded and smiled. "Right. Thanks Jun-chan."
They hung around the lake conversating until the late afternoon sun was setting. It was time for them to part ways until next time.
Kazuya walked back to the Mishima property entering the garden. As he strolled along, he began to notice the cherry blossoms and ume that grew in the gardens. Their sweet smell and appearance reminded him of his mother. Depression sweep across his features as he though about his mother.
"Where are you?" He thought grabbing hold onto the locket.
Lingering in the garden for a little while, he made his way back to the Mishima Mansion. He walked in and found himself going in the direction of his grandfather's office. The second person he felt warmth and comfort from besides his mother and Jun. His father has showed such affections only to cease after the disappearance of his mother. Finally arriving at his destination, he helped himself to enter. The back of his grandfather's chair was facing Kazuya giving that someone was already sitting at the desk taking in the view of the Mishima garden.
"Jiji?" Kazuya asked while walking up to the desk."I wanted to know if we could talk. It's about mother. I've been thinking of her a lot and wanted to know if you know what happened to her?"
The chair spun around reviling someone was sitting in the chair, but to Kazuya's surprise it wasn't Jinpachi, but his father Heihachi Mishima. A well muscled man in his late thirties, wearing his black gi with a tiger embroidered on the back. His hair jet-black full and pointed in opposite direction. Kazuya almost resembles him, but takes after his mother.
"Father? Where's Jiji?"
"Your grandfather had to go away for business, but you shall see him real soon." He got up from the chair and walked towards Kazuya and put a hand on his head. "Along with your mother." He added shocking Kazuya.
"Really?"
Heihachi smirked, but the look in his eyes gave Kazuya chills for some odd reason.
"Dinner is ready in the dining room. Let's go. Eat up, bathe, and rest up. You're going to need it for tomorrow."
"What's tomorrow?" Kazuya dared to ask.
"You'll be training under my wing from now on and don't expect it to be a walk in the park either, boy. I'll show you how to gain true strength of a Mishima" With that Heihachi walked out of the office leaving a confused Kazuya, soon after followed suit after his father.
'Jiji never leaves without saying goodbye.' Kazuya thought feeling worried. But for so long he was going to spend time with his father. Something isn't right. Right?
