Star Wars: Tale of Legends V1.
Chapter 1 Prologue
Rey POV
I walked along the lonely deserts of Jakku right outside of Nima Outpost still reeling with thoughts of sadness and confusion over what had just happened, my parents are gone the left and most of my thoughts came to "why did they leave" and "are they going to come back for me." All they said to me before they left was something about being brave
For now I was under the service of the slimeball they called Unkar Plutt, who said I would soon start working for him as a scavenger, I didn't really have much of a choice in the matter it was that or be left to starve and die in the vast deserts of Jakku. So in my mind my situation seemed pretty hopeless and bleak for me and I honestly wished I at least had some companionship it didn't help that most of the people in Nima Outpost were criminals and thieves. I remained lost in these thoughts until something happened, something did not expect to occur.
I heard a loud crash of a ship, which landed about a mile outside of Nima Outpost near where I was sitting. It seemed like it had traveled far and sustained heavy damage from heavy turret fire, so I decided to go to it and see what was inside and see if I can get a head start on learning to be a scavenger by looking for valuable items inside the crashed ship. Luckily after a grueling mile walk, I managed to make it to the crashed ship before any of the other scavengers could, there was large crack in ships hull which I used to get inside the ship and I begin to walk and look around the inside of the ship which seemed to have a minimalist interior and only contained a few items of value that I could sell to Unkar for at least one quarter portion. As I began to load up what I thought could least have some value I suddenly heard a loud noise coming from one of the rooms on the ship.
The noise seemed very distinct at first until I listened a little more closely and I realized that it was the sound of a child crying and so I began to look through the rooms on the ship in order to find out where the crying was coming and then in the last room down the narrow hallway I found something or should I say someone on the ground crying in the corner of the small room I was now standing in.
Upon taking a closer look at what I saw it appeared to be a young girl, who appeared to be around my age, she had brown hair and light brown skin, but when the young girl noticed my presence in the and looked in my direction I saw she had blue sapphire eyes.
"Uh...hello there" I said to the young girl as she stood in the corner and wiped her tears off her face with her hand.
"Hello" the young girl said sounding timid and frightened as she responded to me.
When I tried to approach her, she backed away in fear, probably because she thought that I was going to harm her or something.
"It's ok, I'm not going to hurt you," I told the girl in order to get her to try and be less afraid of me and calm down a little.
"My name is Rey, what's your name?" I asked the girl so we can try to get to know each other a little better.
"I'm Kalei, it's nice to meet you Rey" she said with a little less hesitation this time.
"What happened to your ship, how did it end up on Jakku and where are your parents" I asked her in order to appease my curiosity towards her and her arrival.
"I... I don't know, the last thing I remember was being pushed into the ship without my mommy or daddy, and the next thing I know crashed here, other than that nothing else" she responded to me with a hint of sorrow in her voice as she answered.
"Oh...I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you feel upset" I said to the girl realizing what I just did.
"It's ok I know you didn't know so there is no reason to feel ashamed" she said with a little less hesitation.
"So umm...do you want to come with me, I don't it would be a good idea for you to stay here, your ship might start to sink into the sand" I asked her a bit anxiously.
"...well ok I guess so, I just need to get my stuff first then I'll go with you" she said with a voice that was less afraid.
"Great, you might wanna hurry I think the sands are starting to sink the ship into the ground" I told her immediately as I suddenly felt the ship sinking under my feet.
She then gathered up all the things that she in the room into a brown leather satchel, which had a degraded symbol on it that for some reason to her looked vaguely familiar to me for some reason, but I brushed it as I and the girl I now knew as Kalei made our way out of the ship before it started to sink deep into the desert sands. Afterwards we began to make our way to Nima Outpost, to see if she could find some work as a scavenger, perhaps even work alongside her.
She didn't know why but Kalei reminded me of myself as I am now after my parents left me here and I honestly know how she's feeling right now and just wanted to comfort her and tell her that everything is going to be alright. As we went up to Unkar Plutts junk stand I began to wonder whether or not Unkar would allow her to work with me. "Then again that sleazeball does need all the help he can get on his scavenging operations here on Jakku so he would probably welcome the extra help" I thought to myself.
"Welcome a back girl" he said as me and Kalei approached the junk station that he was currently managing.
"What valuable junk did…" he stopped dead short when he noticed Kalei standing next to me as I was waiting to see what he had to say to me.

"Whose this, and why did you bring her up to my junk stand" he asked with a disgusting frown on his blubber covered face.
"Um, this is Kalei, I found her out in the desert and I was wondering if she could work with me as a scavenger" I told him with a very hesitant voice.
"Hmm…." he hesitated before he said "well alright, as long as she can pull her weight in terms of how much salvage you and her can gather for, but you both will only receive one-half quarter portion for the stuff you bring me unless its something extremely valuable" he said as he was clearing his throat.

"Well ok, thanks Unkar" I told him very sarcastically, which earned me and Kalei one of his trademark scowls in response.
After that we walked through the desert for a few hours hoping to find a place to settle down and rest, we then soon stumbled an abandoned and broken down AT-AT laying out in the middle of the desert, so we wouldn't have to stay near Nima Outpost. After we went inside the broken down walker we set down our things and sat without saying anything for at least a whole minute until Kalei broke the silence.
"So Rey, do you know what happened to your parents?" she asked, suddenly causing me to go silent for a second.
"How...how did you know that something happened to my parents?" I asked with a vague bit of curiosity in my voice.
"I don't, just a feeling I guess" she responded in a sheepish tone of voice.
"I think my parents might either be dead or they just abandoned me" I said with a solemn face.
"Oh, sorry I didn't mean to ask" she told me in response.
"No no no, it's ok it's just a touchy subject for me, that's all" I told her, in order to make her feel less upset about asking me.
"So, did any other family back where you're from" I asked her in an attempt to lighten the mood.
"Just my grandparents, other than that I've got no one else" she told me, while trying to hide her own sadness.
"Well if it's ok with you, you can kind of consider me your adopted sister" I told her in a very reassuring voice.
"Yeah...that would be nice, since we are going to be living and working, besides you've been really nice to me, so yeah I guess that does make you my sister" she said in a more cheerful and upbeat voice.
"That's great, however you're still going to have to do your share of scavenging, oh and don't try to steal my share of portions" I told her rather jokingly.
"Never say never Rey, oh sorry I mean sis" she said with a little chuckle.
"Yeah I guess so…" I was saying until Kalei tripped me and we then chased each other all around the AT-AT until I tripped and fell on top of her and we both laughed at each other's clumsiness.
"Hey Kalei" I asked her in a warm voice.
"Yeah" she asked me.
"I promise I'll be the best sister you can ever have" I told her with a large smile on my face.
"I know" she said to me cheerily before embracing me in a very tight hug, we then spent the rest of the day sitting and leaning on the AT-AT watching the desert sun set on Jakkus sandy dunes.
