Bella
That night was like nothing I ever dreamed. Feeling his body against mine, moving in sync with each other's heartbeats, there were no words to explain the way I felt. The way I never wanted it to end. But the next morning came faster than I wanted and with it, came a day we were all praying wouldn't happen.
Jacob and I laid staring into each other's eyes. He seemed to be glowing now, and I know I was blushing. He was the only person that could make me speechless. He placed his hand on my waste and leaned in to kiss me when the door to our bedroom came open. We both sat up straight, pulling the sheets around us. It was Edward.
His pale face seemed a little paler. "They're here. The Voltari are here."
"What? When?" I asked.
"This morning. They have Alice and Jasper." He closed his eyes. "and Leah."
Jacob stood up showing all of him. Not caring that Edward was there. "How did they get her? You were supposed to protect her." He was inches from Edward's face.
Edward didn't back down. You could see his pain. I could almost feel his pain. Three people that meant everything to him. He was dying inside.
"Jacob, back down." Sam said entering the door behind Edward.
"She insisted that I go and feed this morning. She wouldn't take no as an answer. When I got back, they were there." He still felt the need to assure Jacob that it was out of his control.
I wrapped the sheet around me, not feeling as comfortable in my birthday attire as Jacob. I walked over and took him by the hand. "Edward is hurting, Jacob. Now is not the time." I looked at Sam. "We will get dress and be right there."
"I love her, Jacob." Edward stated exiting the room.
It took Jacob and me less than five minutes to dress. Edward ran with me in his cold arms. I had forgotten how cold they were. I was missing my warmth, but Sam and Jacob decided they would make better time as a wolf. Once we reached the reservation, Sam and Jacob had thrown on their jean shorts they kept hid in a tree trunk.
Edward placed me on the ground and Jacob took my hand. I looked over my shoulder at Edward. His face was filled with concern. He knew what the Voltari was thinking. I could read it in his face. I knew in my heart that one or more people would not be leaving this battle. I knew that Jacob and Leah would mourn for us. They would probably fall in love and move on with their lives, but they would be a hole where Edward and I once were. Edward wasn't in pain for him, it was for Leah and Jacob.
We walked out of the woods and everyone turned to us. Billy, and the wolves were mingled with the Cullen's. Everyone was in human form. The wolves were ready to protect their new family and so were the Cullen's. Alice, Jasper and Leah were nowhere to be seen. Aro's glare sent chills all over my body. Jacob's grip on my hand tighten. We joined our family, taking our place on the front line. Was this really the end of my happiness?
"Where is Alice, Jasper and Leah?" I asked.
"They have them waiting in the woods. Alice said they are three guards." Edward whispered. "They were waiting for us."
Aro slid across the grass just like in my dream. He came close to me, sniffing like a German shepherd searching for drugs. The muscles in Jacob's arms began to flex, he was trembling with rage. Aro glanced over at him and then Edward.
He placed his finger on his chin and turned to his clan. "This is interesting. A vampire and a wolf. A wolf and a human." He turned quickly with that smirk of his. "Edward, I am so disappointed in you. I mean, you promised me that Bella would be a vampire."
Jacob snarled.
"Please, Jacob." I pleaded.
"Things changed." Edwards velvet voice cracked. "We both realized that we were in love with someone else."
Aro motioned towards the woods. "Yes, the werewolf."
Three oversized guys pushed Alice, Jasper and Leah out in front of the Voltari. The concerns on their face, the fear and sadness overwhelmed me. What had I done? I had caused so much pain for everyone I loved. If I had chosen Jacob first, none of this would have happened.
"The Voltari was very disappointed to hear that Bella was still a human."
"I assure you, Aro." Carlisle interrupted. "We are all a family here and there will be no one else added to our pack. No one will know the secret. It ends here."
Aro nodded at his once brother. "You are right, Carlisle. It ends here."
"We will keep it in this circle."
Aro glided back over to Alice. "You promised me. You showed me a vision of Bella running through the woods. Her long hair flowing in the wind, a blue dress upon her body, and her eyes were these beautiful golden eyes." He paused. "You tricked me, my sweet, Alice."
"No. That was the future I saw at that time."
He turned his glare to Leah, who glared at Edward. "Leah, such a waste. Such a beautiful creature to be wasted as a wolf." His long fingers traced her cheek. He took her hand in his. "I wonder what would happen if…"
Edward read his thoughts, he leaped towards Leah. "No, Aro. Kill me. Finish me."
Jane's red eyes glowed. Her lips curled. She was using her powers to bring Edward to a stop. He fell on his knees in Agony. Screaming in such pain. Leah started to stand up and the tall, oversize guy pulled her back down to her knees.
"Enough!" Carlisle shouted. "Enough!"
Aro waved for Jane to stop. She pouted a little like usual but did as Aro said. Sam grabbed Edward and helped him up to his feet and pulled him back a little closer to our family. He whispered something into his ear and Edward nodded.
Aro smiled at Edward and bit Leah's hand. She cried out in pain as the venom soaked through her veins. I remembered that feeling oh to well. The burning and stinging. The wanting someone to kill you and make it end. She fell over on the ground. Her chest rising and falling at a rapid speed.
I heard shouting from behind me and just like that the guys shifted into wolf form, and the Cullen's followed them in an attack against the Voltari. Everyone was moving so fast, like one of those action movies, where you can't tell the good guys from the bad. Edward ran to Leah. He took her hand and began to suck the poison from her. Just like he had done from mine when James bit me. Sam stood in front of him keeping everyone else away. When the oversize guy approached him, he grabbed him by the neck and with one quick jerk, ripped his head completely off. Once Leah was sitting up a little on her own, Edward swooped her up and took off. He was followed by Jane, before Emmet took her out.
"Go. Go to Emily's and hide."
"No."
Jacob's face crinkle in his frustration. "Bella, I promise I will be there." He kissed my forehead and nodded at Quill.
Before I could say another word, Quill grabbed me by the jacket and slung me on his back. He took off through the woods and I knew nothing now. I didn't know if my Jacob was okay. If the Voltari had ripped my family into. I felt so helpless being human. What was my part in all of this? Was it to just to cause havoc?
Quill stood watch at the door. He was still in wolf form so that he could hear what was going on. From time to time he would whimper out, but I had no idea what was happening. I needed answers but there was no one to give them to me. Emily tried to comfort me, but it wasn't helping. We just sat on the sofa next to each other. I wonder to myself how she did it? How she could sit there so calm when Sam was out there fighting a war that he didn't belong in.
It had been hours and no word from anyone. I was pacing the floors and Emily had begun to bake. She said it helped her to relax. Quill whimpered once more and took off to the woods. I ran over to the door.
"Bella," Emily's soft-spoken voice said. "Wait. We have to wait."
I nodded against my will. The phone rang and I turned to Emily who grabbed it off the table.
"Hello." She looked at me. "How bad is it?"
I could feel my blood flowing, hear my heart beating, I knew that it was my Jacob. I knew that he was hurt, and it was all on me. I grabbed the door frame to steady myself. My head was spinning, I was slipping down the door, when two strong arms lifted me up. It was Quill. He had run off to change into his human form and grab some clothes.
"How bad?" I asked as Emily hung up the phone.
Quill still held me tight. "It's bad, Bell's. Emily and I will drive you to the Cullen's. Billy is there and so is everyone else. Carlisle is with him and Leah."
I don't remember much of the truck ride over there. Emily drove and Quill sat on the other side of me, trapping me like they thought I would jump from the truck. It was strange pulling up at the Cullen's and see all the wolves in human form, standing outside. All but the one that I needed. The one that I longed for. Quill opened the door and helped me out. I ran straight for Billy.
"Oh, Billy." I cried.
"Bella, don't cry." He tried to calm me, but I could see the concern on his face.
Jacob screamed out in pain, I stood up and started towards the door. This time no one stopped me. They knew that I had to be with him. That I had to hold him. I entered the house and the screams got louder. I followed them to the second bedroom downstairs. As I walked by the first one, Edward was sitting holding Leah's hand. She was resting with an IV attached to her arm. He glanced at me and quickly turned his concern back to Leah.
I opened the door to see Jacob waist and left arm wrapped. His body was soaked in his perspiration. Carlisle was adjusting his IV. I wanted to take the pain. I deserved to take the pain from him. He was an innocent and naïve guy that never deserve to be brought into my crazy world.
"It's okay, Bella." Carlisle stated. "He has some serious injuries, but I have reset his bones and now he needs rest. He has a morphine drip, but the heat the he puts off is killing the effect."
"He will be okay?"
Carlisle nodded.
"Leah?"
He took a deep breath. "The venom has affected her differently. Edward was able to get most of it out, but now we wait and see."
I swallowed the lump in my throat. "The Voltari?"
He smiled. "We never have to worry about them again, Bella. You and Jacob are free now." He walked over to the door. "We all are."
I wiped my hands on my jeans nervously, making my way over to him. I wanted to touch him, but I was terrified of causing him more pain. The moonlight, poured through the window, dancing on his beautiful tan skin. I was mesmerized to say the least. He opened his eyes and smiled at me.
"Bella," He scrunched his face at the pain. "Baby, what are you waiting for? Come lie down with me."
I was afraid at first, but I easily took my place by him. He laid his right arm out and wrapped it around me. I seemed to fit perfectly by his side. My tiny frame was built for his massive arms.
"It's okay. I am okay."
I couldn't stop the dam from breaking. Tears flowed down my cheeks. "I thought I had lost you, Jacob Black. I thought…"
He leaned down to me, kissing me hard, pulling back and looking into my eyes. "I am never going to leave you. We are going to grow old and love each other until the day we both die."
"No more phasing?"
He shook his head. "No reason to."
I snuggled a little closer to him. My body feeling with a calmness. I no longer had to worry about the Voltari. The Cullen's and the wolves were now at peace. Life would finally be perfect. The fairytale part would be just that. We would live our lives out the way it was meant to be for Jacob Black and me.
It took Jacob a week to be back to himself. We moved officially into our own home on the reservation. About three months later we found out that we were expecting our first child. There are no words to explain how over the moon Jacob was. Charlie and Billy dropped by regularly to visit us and we would go to see them too. The Cullen's were still a huge part of the wolf's lives. Alice and Rosalee had already began to plan the baby shower.
Leah finally woke up. She became the first werewolf that turned half vampire. She was even more stunning. Her skin shimmered like diamonds when the sun hit her. She was even faster than Edward when she ran. He loved the challenge. They bought a home in between the reservation and the Cullen's and sat a wedding date for the summer.
Life was moving in all the right directions. In all the right places. For once I was happy Bella and not stressed Bella. I took a deep breath as I took a seat on the front porch of our home, next to my husband. He reached over and rubbed my stomach.
"I love you, Bella Black."
"And I love you too, Jacob Black."
THE END
