The Fall
4 weeks later...
"What the hell were you thinking, you stupid beast!" Slade yelled as he punched Beast Boy in the face sending him flying backwards into a wall. Beast Boy's bones had completely healed at this point but he'd gotten new wounds from his mentor's harsh training methods. Although harsh, they had caused Beast Boy to grow in power tenfold since he unwillingly left the Teen Titans. Slade attacked him daily for failing to fulfill his expectations.
As he sat up against the wall he'd recently been thrown into, his thoughts went back to his team. He smiled fondly as he remembered all the times they took Slade down as a team. His smile vanished however as he remembered his most recent interaction with his former team. Roaring in anger he punched the wall of his room adding yet another dent to the unbreakable cell. He hated the thought of fighting his friends.
Beast Boy's thoughts drifted as he looked around the walls and ceiling and saw little pictures of Terra and a few of her belongings on a table in the corner of the room. He walked over and picked up a her pink butterfly hair clip and smiled as he fondly remembered her and her fiery personality. He was then abruptly torn from his thoughts as he heard Slade roar,
"Beast, get in here. NOW!" Beast Boy rubbed his cheek as he walked into the main room within Slade's lair. The second Beast Boy appeared, Slade launched himself at the Titan catching him off guard. Beast Boy was sent flying by an expertly timed hook to the jaw. He immediately got up and ran towards Slade while turning into a gorilla. His fist went flying as Slade swiftly moved out of the way. Slade countered with a kick to the stomach, winding the small titan. Beast Boy retaliated with a side kick sending Slade into a nearby wall. Slade then extended his bow staff and turned on the electric function, lighting the piece of metal up with blue lightning. Beast Boy's eyes widened as Slade ran towards him.
Is he actually trying to kill me!? Beast Boy thought as he moved like a cat to avoid Slade's slashes and stabs. Timing his dodges, Slade changed up his attacks and caught Beast Boy off guard. Slamming the staff into his chest, Beast Boy convulsed as the electricity engulfed his body. Slade's smiled with glee behind his mask. After years of trying he would finally kill a titan.
Beast Boy floated in an out of consciousness as the electricity flowed into him. His heart started to palpitate and his breathing slowed as he felt his mind begin to shut down. Thoughts flashed into his mind. Thoughts about the team, thoughts about his past, and thoughts about Raven. He smiled, resigning himself to death but happy that he wouldn't have to fight his friends anymore.
As he began to let go, however, a voice boomed in his mind:
"Beast Boy. I am a primal spirit. You have much potential and I don't believe you deserve to die here. Give me control and, together, we will defeat Slade." Beast Boy was startled. He had given up all hope of ever defeating Slade. Thinking about it for a minute, Beast Boy made his decision. Too weak to keep his eyes open, he simply closed them and nodded, hoping the voice would understand.
Slade noticed this and stopped for a minute. Had he actually done it? Killed a titan? He began to feel joy. Something he hadn't felt for a very long time. He smiled bigger than he ever had as he inspected his handiwork. Smoke emanated from Beast Boy's chest as a brand where the staff had just been was fully visible. His complexion looked lighter, more pale. Slade sighed in relief and turned away, preparing to gloat about his accomplishment to the other titans.
All of a sudden, however, Beast Boy jumped to life. Slade turned around, bewildered. Beast Boy looked different, his skin was a darker green than usual and his eyes had a gold tint to them. Slade opened his mouth to speak only to have his staff ripped out of his hands and thrown across the room. Beast Bot then punched Slade in the face sending him sprawling to the ground. He then grabbed hold of Slade's arms and dislocated them both in unison. Slade screamed out in pain. Roaring in desperation, he began to fend Beast Boy off with his feet. Beast Boy retaliated by turning into a tiger and pouncing on Slade. Slade tried to resist as he was pinned down. He thrashed and kicked but to no prevail. Beast Boy then sheathed his claws and knocked Slade out.
"There you go young one, we have defeated Slade and I now give you access to all of our combined power. You may use it as you wish, however, if you use it to kill l will have to repress it." The Primal Spirit said as his presence within Beast Boy's mind lifted slightly.
"Thank you." Beast Boy replied, as he leaned against a wall, exhausted.
Meanwhile...
The remaining titans sat in the living room with solemn faces with the exception of Raven. She was sleeping in her room, emotionally broken as her room laid in tatters. After the battle, she had teleported the team home and began to shut down. She didn't speak, eat, or do much of anything.
"Friend Raven?" Starfire asked as she knocked on the door of the dark sorcerer's room.
"What do you want Star?" Raven said shakily.
"Friend, you do not seem well. Is everything ok?" Starfire cautioned as she walked into the room. When she walked in, she saw Raven wrapped in her covers on her bed.
"Go away, Im fine" Raven said as she curled into an even tighter ball.
"You have been in your room for a week" Starfire insisted.
"I said, GO AWAY!" Raven yelled as her bookshelf and dresser were engulfed in black energy and then forcefully tipped over. Starfire yelped as she flew to the door. She looked back at her friend for a moment, heartbroken, before flying towards the living room to inform the team.
"She is a danger to herself and the team! She needs to be disciplined!" Robin proposed, angrily.
"Rob, you can't do that man" Cyborg replied, "She's our friend and she needs us."
"Why is friend Raven so upset?" Starfire asked, confused.
"She blames herself for BB's capture." Cyborg replied as he looked at the living room door.
"We have to snap her out of it!" Robin continued, adamant.
The team, reluctantly agreed as they made their way to Raven's room. Raven was deep in thought with fresh tears down her face. She was ripped from her thoughts as she heard a hard knock on her room door. Her emotions went up in flames as she thought about what she had said to Starfire earlier. She felt terrible but Starfire had brought it upon herself, hadn't she? Raven was too broken to care as the group barged into her room. As they entered the room, they saw Raven sitting on her bed, wrapped in her covers with tears running down her face. They all stood there shocked as they realized the tower was still intact.
"Why hasn't the tower blown up if Raven has lost control of her emotions?" Robin whispered to Cyborg.
"I think its because she is too far gone." Cyborg replied, sadly.
"Friend Raven, we have come here to tell you to get up and return to normal!" Starfire yelled, sternly. Seeing Raven, Starfire immediately covered her mouth and looked at her apologetically.
"Your right, I need to let go" Raven replied calmly as she wiped her tears and looked Robin dead in the eye. She then got up, walked past the group, and into the living room.
A week later...
"Titans, alert!" Robin yelled as he looked at the big screen in the middle of the room, "Its Beast Boy and Slade. I'm surprised they waited four weeks before attacking again."
"Well, what are we waitin' for?" Cyborg asked as he ran towards T-Car garage. The team reached the coordinates to see Slade riding Beast Boy in horse form. He cracked the whip causing Beast Boy to buck, throwing Slade off him and into a nearby building. Raven stared in shock as Beast Boy returned to his normal form and passed out. He had multiple whip wounds on his stomach as well as tons of bruises on his face. Raven ran towards him as he slowly got up. She reached him and tried to help as he looked at her in fear. He backed away, scared. He then turned into a falcon and tried to fly away. Slade noticed this and purposefully deflected a Starbolt towards Beast Boy's right wing. It hit him square in the wing and caused him to drop out of the sky.
Raven saw Beast Boy plummet towards the nearby bay in human form and flew towards him. She was stopped by a flying tackle from Slade. Trying to escape, she stared in horror as Beast Boy's body was engulfed by the navy blue water. She then turned to Slade, anger boiling up inside her. She was too late, however as Slade had vanished without a trace.
Raven immediately went towards the bay only to see that current had already taken Beast Boy.
"Why would Slade do that to Beast Boy," Raven asked sadly as she sank to her knees.
"Thats how he works, he gets rid of things that are no longer useful." Robin said with anger.
"We must look for friend Beast Boy" Starfire said tears streaming down her face.
"How, Star? Robin and I can't survive the current and Raven's in no condition to do anything right now." Cyborg said sadly motioning towards Raven who was slumped to the ground in despair.
