The light of the morning sun would creep through little crevices in the wall. It reflected off the blue eyes of a Lunala. Blinking twice, he would lift himself to try to reach for the cave walls… only for a chain to hold him back. One of the restraints dragged on his neck and it made him cry out.
Turning his crescent head he'd turn to his other roommates, a bloodred Solgaleo and another smaller Lunala that had the same blood red wings that he himself carried. They were three of the long line of shiny light trio members and though they had been raised together they never spent too much time with each other…. But today was a completely different day.
Today was the day one of them would be sent off to the sacrifices.
It is a simple matter, Hilal. You are one of those who carry the deadly red colors upon their chest. Your blood will pay well for us. Lord Orlitti will take your light and give us good light and crops in return. Now hurry along, I can't have my resources wasted on a mistake like you. The words of his mother echoed in his brain as she dropped him off in front of the inspectors. He remembered. She didn't ever look back, no sorrow in her voice… and he thought he mattered.
"H-Hilal?" Lala squeaked. She was one of the unfortunate ones- not given a name but the upper ones did not want their sacred title of Lunala around her. So she was gone Nameless… course Hilal and Bruno didn't let that go by.
"Yes? What is it?"
"I-I don't want to die… but I don't ever want to see us get sacrificed…" She cried softly. Bruno was still asleep, his eyes were closed. Hilal looked back to watch as Bruno's chest slowly heaved up and down. He bit his lip.
"There is nothing to worry about Lala… besides, what's to say that we're going to be the ones who get taken in?" He lied right under his breath. "We just have to keep working and show our worth. They will change their minds about us."
"I guess…" Her voice was far from convinced as she turned back to face the heavy raindrops that beat against the forcefield door that kept them from using any of their wormhole creation abilities.
Bruno walked past them, "There is no harm in working. Working shows our strength. We please others."
Today's work is working with the Ultra Beasts and fending them off… what fun.The Lunala cynically thought to himself, but he did not let any of those words in his head come to his mouth. Instead he gave a smile to Lala.
Then everything went dead silent as a metallic slash ripped through the air.
There was a sickening Crunch! as the chains around them tightened. The chains pulled up and each of them were lifted off and into the air. Lala immediately cried out, but upon Bruno's look, she realized it was but the daily checkup.
The door in front of them opened as a light blue Solgaleo stepped into the clearing. The General.
Without a moment to spare he observed all three of them from top to bottom, as if to scout out any ill intent on escaping or any thoughts of rebellion. Upon looking at Hilal his eyes narrowed into feral slits. Beside him Hilal could hear the breath of Lala speeding up. She was hyperventilating.
"You. Runt." He snapped to Lala and with a quick flick of his claw, he ripped into her red wings. A screech filled the air as Lala attempted to move away, but of course she was stuck in the air. She couldn't do anything.
"That's right remember who are your commanders. No weakness must be found in any of you. As lowly and cursed as your colors may be we can't have any weaklings being sacrificed to Lord Orlitti." His forelegs made a scratching noise as they scrapped across the ground. "But I suppose if we were going to sacrifice anyone, it'd be the weak ones first."
"H-Hey. Don't insult Lala… don't hurt her!" With a cry, Hilal attempted to swing towards the General, only to be stopped with a psychic grasp.
"Hm. I'd watch your tongue girl. Or whatever you are." His fangs showed. "I don't care what you think you are. But I don't think you'd want to mess with us. Know your place."
Whipping his tail back and forth he'd turn away. "All of you should be ready to go then… do not cause troubles unless you want a scar like the recent sacrifice has gotten. All of these are beyond any of your feeble, weak minds can comprehend."
With that he turned a heel and called for the trio to be lifted up for work. Hilal couldn't help but his teeth gnashing against each other. His blue eyes narrowed as its glow pierced the darkness as Lala started silently weeping in the corner.
The rain had fallen recently, and the leaves were dripping with water. The Demon had taken cover from the rain by hiding under a cave. Awaken from her slumber she watched as a raindrop fell onto her face. An irritated growl as she was met with cold water in the wake of a cloudy day, but she forced herself up. Today was far from a pretty morning, no matter how hard one stared at the horizon it was muddied with the gray clouds that hid the waking sun… the Demon felt distraught by this. Her face flickered once or twice before she opted to crawl out into the open.
A strange Necrozma without a host. It was a deep blue instead of the dark black that a normal Necrozma was. On her face, she had multi colored patches with two bigger purple diamonds with white pupils on both sides… ones that appeared to be eyes perhaps? Atop her head she had only one horn instead of the 3 Necrozmas usually had. Not only that, there was a strange sigil on her chest that flickered to life occasionally.
Now was not a time to be examining this one though as she floated off away to go seek her next meal. Not sure what she'd find today, she couldn't really find anything that… glowed. How annoying. The sun usually supplied her with light to eat, but now she had to rely on her own senses to seek something to absorb. Her claws traced the ground as she searched for something. Anything….
The Thunder above her crackled. The rain had departed, but now a thunderstorm was getting ready to rear its head to strike at the ground below.
A nest! What good fortune that had fallen upon the now starving Necrozma! Indeed she would draw near to it, basking in the sense of delicious light right in front of her. She did take a moment to examine the nest…. Tiny weird egg shaped things that looked like odd cocoons rested there. There were 3 of them. Holding one in her blue claws she studied it; it was like a mini galaxy was inside it. It fascinated the demon as her pupils widened in awe.
That sense of wonder was quickly squashed by the overwhelming hunger she felt. And before she knew what she was doing she crushed the mantle within her claws.
Crack.
Oh. The light seeped into her system, flooding out any sense of contemplation if she had just killed a living creature or not. To be fair, she didn't really care if it was alive. It was food to her. And eat it she would.
She reached for the other egg thing and again shattered it like the first one. Was this good? Was this right? It doesn't matter to a hungry animal like the Demon. For she was but a Beast of Crystal in every words. Cold. Uncaring. And Cruel. Those were the words that others would describe her kind.
When she was on the third egg she felt something stir in her. A feeling of danger. Alarmed, she looked about to see if there was anything. Then she focused on whatever had triggered her… fear? What was it? Her head hurt by the sudden pulses of ESP jamming into her brain. Something was coming for her. Something was coming for her.
"Y-YOU DEMON!" The Necrozma turned to see shadows balls race towards her, all of which she narrowly dodged. Clutching the cocoon creature in her hands she floated backwards while eyeing the newcomer. It was a Lunala studded with silver crests and piercing green eyes. Those said eyes were filled with a green liquid substance that was streaming off the face of the lunar beast. The Necrozma could barely comprehend why this Lunala would be grieving over strange eggs. Why would anyone? They were just free food!
No time to think. No time to react! The Lunala threw off a barrage of air slashes that pelted the Necrozma. She let out cries of pain as they hit her armor and was flung backwards. Her mind was in an array... she wanted out! Her claws clutched around the third Cocoon as she began to float away.
"GIVE HIM BACK GIVE HIM BACK GIVE HIM BACK." The moon bat raced to rip into the Necrozma with shadow claws. Panicking, the Necrozma hit her face with a metallic claw and turned away from her. Yet still she did not let go of the egg.
The struggle between continued. Blow after blow was exchanged. Even as a newborn Necrozma with little control of her powers the Crystal Demon could hold her own against a Lunala. All of this ultimately led to a standoff. The Monster that was a eater of Cosmoems. And the Mother who had just lost her entire clutch save for the last one that still remained in a Beast's claws. Really it was a miracle that she hadn't crushed the egg during the attacks.
"Give… me… back… Orion…" Huffed the bat, her chest's glow had dimmed. "What did we do to deserve this? Why did you kill all of them?" Her body flared up into a light blue color. "WE DID NOTHING TO YOU DEMON."
The Necrozma stared at her blankly. She didn't understand. What was so wrong with what she did?
Raising her head head she screeched into the air. The storm filled the air where the thunder was now splitting the skies with its own roars… and it cleared. The Necrozma felt a second wave of psychic energy enter her mind as another being would arrive in the area. It sent a new wave of fear as she turned to see what it was.
This time it was a Blood Red Solgaleo.
Before she could do anything it crashed into her in a powerful Sunsteel strike. The Lunala quickly caught her falling body with shadow balls. This Demon. This crystal Demon felt a new feeling that day. Pain. It hurt. It hurt so much.
She crashed into the ground below her and the Cosmoem slipped out of her grasp for all but a few seconds before her psychic powers caught it again. Food. Hunger. It quelled any other feelings of giving up. Stupid? Perhaps. But what did this Necrozma know? Nothing.
"Hnrghhhh… Stop."
The Solgaleo crashed onto top of her. Mashing his unsheathed claws into her arm. "Give our son back. He is our child. Not another snack for your horrible kind to eat." The Lunala was above them, tears sprouting from her leaf green eyes. Then something in the Necrozma snapped.
"STOP. STOP. IT HURTS! IT HURTS!" Her core fizzled with energy. "LET ME GO!" The Solgaleo felt the ground tremble and lifted his paw in alarm.
A shriek pierced the skies as explosive light energy erupted from the Necrozma's body. Both the Solgaleo and the Lunala were shoved back to incredible lengths.
Panting, the Necrozma would quickly open a wormhole with the Cosmoem in hand. She dived into it, but not before she heard the enraged cries of the bereaved parents. She dared not to look back as she delved into Ultra Space.
Run. Run. Run away. Get away. Get out of here. Eat the egg cocoon. Those were thoughts that raced through her head. Until-
She tumbled into a portal and crashed into the world below her. This time the cosmoem fell out of her claws and plinked onto the ground as it rolled to a stop. Ow.
Looking back, she saw the couple enter the world beside her. The Solgaleo roared as he jumped up to take the position of the sun. His mane flared up, ready to unleash its righteous fury.
Then something in the air changed. Again. Right as the shiny Solgaleo striked something caught him in the air.
"NONO. MIZAR!" The Lunala attempted to attack the blur that had attacked her mate but was swatted away like a fly. Its hand clutched the throat of the Solgaleo as it flared open its wings.
"Ahaha… suppose you don't recognize me? Whatever, beasts like you nowaday have no idea what their place is in my kingdom." The demented voice scared the Necrozma and she crawled backwards. Its back was still turned. She could run. "And you little kitty, you're quite a valuable host. A elusive red giant solgaleo… but alas you and your pathetic wife are not good enough to be hosts of mine." Before he flung the Solgaleo onto the ground he made sure to take his free claw and rip deep into the underbelly of the lion. A pained roar filled the air as the Sun beast struggled about frantically. The gigantic monster stared at him blankly before the Lunala from before crashed into him and forced him to let go of her mate.
Thrusting his wings forward, he threw forward a mighty gust of wind to blow the two away from him. A snarl could be heard before this bigger demon latched his claws onto the lunala, before dropping down onto the ground and ramming her head against the rocks… before taking off into the air again.
The Necrozma cried out as the other suddenly landed right in front of her, seemingly. He gave her a demented smile as he seemed to allow her to study him.
A gigantic Lunala covered in prism armor that looked like the armor that resembled the crystals made up of the Necrozma herself. He had a draconic mouth and a deep purple coloring to his body. Though his eyes were what ingrained into her vision the most: sickly red with no pupils. He turned around to face the couple.
"Oh? Were you all fighting over this little trinket? How pitiful." He picked up the Cosmoem. "I would be racing to steal one of your lights if I had to be frank. Yes, all of you disappoint me. But I guess parents will grieve over their hard work. And now that work is all spoiled." He added his last words in a whisper.
Feebly, the Lunala moved forwards to attempt to reach this other Lunala. "Orion… is our son… we won't let him be killed by the likes… of you two… he will-"
The Lunala's words were cut off as the giant beast crushed the Cosmoem. "See? Pathetic. Absolutely sad. Now get out of my sight."
"NO! THAT WAS OUR SON THOSE WERE OUR CHILDREN! WHAT DID WE DO TO DESERVE THEIR DEATHS! WHAT DID-"
The two were dropped into wormholes. The Necrozma stared at the Lunala. In awe. And in horror. Then he turned sharply.
"Ah did you think you were safe?" He cupped her head in his claws. "Oh dear no, you aren't. You are but something much more valuable for me to take. I can feel it in you… My Light. Light of mine. Orlitti. Lord of Light."
The Necrozma let out a choked gasp as she tried to break free from that awful iron fist of his. "P-Please! I don't want to be hurt!"
"Oh so you can talk huh? You are one of those stolen shards of mine that started feeling huh? I suppose I could understand your viewpoint." His dark voice creeped into her ears. She attempted to fight out of his grasp as fear raced into her system, but all of her endeavors would be in vain as he chuckled. "Sorry. You are nothing but a mistake. That's that! Sorry about your fate little o-"
Crying out, she ripped into his claws with her own night slashes. She was dropped onto the ground and quickly formed a wormhole under her.
Before Orlitti could track her down, the darkness in his claws spread throughout, causing him to be completely caught off by the pain.
"Grrrr… it escaped…" He flicked a wing. "Oh well. That one's a blue shard. She'll be easy to track down. I should not delay myself anymore."
Without further ado, he opened his wings and called open a wormhole to open. It stretched along the breaks of the sky for him to enter. When the Lord of Light closed the wormhole behind him, an energy wave was sent through the world. The little remains of the Cosmoem were shattered to pieces, and the pools of light fluids evaporated until nothing was left for anyone to see.
