The Revelation
A few days passed and all anyone in the tower could think about was Hunter. Robin was desperately thinking about a way to learn his identity. Starfire was trying to make up her mind about him being friendly or not. Cyborg was trying to determine what video game he'd like best. And Raven couldn't stop thinking about their meeting and how she still had hundreds of questions to ask the mysterious warrior. She determined that she had to have another meeting with him.
That night after training, Raven meditated hard and tried to find Hunter's home telepathically. She stumbled upon the same treehouse she saw him at before but instead of seeing a nicely built treehouse, she saw the charred remnants of what used to be Hunter's home. Concerned, she telepathically attempted to call out to Hunter. After minutes without luck, she decided to go there herself in case their new ally needed help.
When she arrived, the smell of burnt wood greeted her. She began to look around when she heard a faint sound. Barely more than a whisper it almost sounded like an animal was whining. She walked towards the clearing where the sound was coming from only to see Hunter hunched over with elemental and psychic energy surrounding him. Walking around until she could see his face she realized that he wasn't even awake. As she approached, however, the energies surrounding him began to intensify and grow stronger. She called out to him instead. Once she said his name, he appeared to wake up. The energies died down and she saw that he was clutching his side.
"Hunter, are you okay?" Raven asked, worried. Hunter looked up at her with a solemn look on his face and said.
"I can't heal it. It's too strong." He motioned to the tree, "Glad...you g-got my...message. Help." He uttered as his eyes rolled back and he fell to the forest floor. Raven quickly used her powers to teleport herself and Hunter to the medical ward of the tower. She called for Cyborg and they both attempted to figure out what was wrong with him.
After more than an hour of tests Cyborg realized he'd seen these exact results in only one other person, Beast Boy. Shocked, he went over to Hunter and injected his arm with a special substance he made for Beast Boy once upon a time. Immediately, Hunter's white skin became green and began to grow fur. Finally realizing the truth, Cyborg remained in motionless shock until the medical machine beeped loudly. Running a few more tests, Cyborg determined Hunter had been poisoned by something.
Inspecting the location of what appeared to be an infection, Cyborg recognized it as the place where Slade had stabbed him. He went to inform the team deciding to keep his knowledge of Hunter's identity to himself for now.
"He's been poisoned. Unfortunately, this poison is unique in the fact that it convinces the body that it's harmless by infecting the person's mind. Until the affected person truly wants to be cured, the poison will remain and slowly kill the host." Cyborg explained, "This means someone will have to enter his mind telepathically and convince his subconcious to fight back against the poison.
"I'll do it." Raven said, "I'm the only one here with psychic abillities making me the only one who can go."
"Not true, you have the abillity to have someone enter someone else's mind." Cyborg replied.
"What are you suggesting?" Raven asked, confused.
"Send me in. I'm the one who knows the most about this poison and how it works. Not to mention, if it has affects on whoever enters his mind, we need someone on the outside who can pull that person out." Cyborg argued. Leaving out the part about how he wanted to talk to Hunter one on one about why he hid his identity.
"Alright. Lets do this." Raven replied as the rest of the team nodded in agreement.
