The Recovery
"Beast Boy?" Raven gently called as she lightly shook his arm. "You need to get up. You need to get up because if you don't...if you don't...just please get up. Please?" She begged as she her emotions threatened to take control. She took a few deep breaths and closed her eyes to clear her mind.
"R..Raven?" Hunter faintly said as he slowly opened his eyes.
"Yes, Beast Boy, I'm here. How are you feeling?" She replied as she quickly removed her hand which had somehow made its way to his and was holding onto it tightly.
"Thirsty, hungry, and tired. So very very tired." He answered as he tried to grin but winced in pain and closed his eyes once more. "Could you by chance turn the lights off? They hurt my eyes." She nodded as she telekinetically turned them off.
"So, how much of what happened do you remember?" Raven asked as she scanned the now darkened room and tried to get her bearings.
"Well, I remember everyone's farewell speeches to me. Yours in particular. Then I remember being really really bored. Next thing I know I'm waking up. Speaking of, how long was I out, It felt like forever." Hunter said, deep in thought. Raven's blood froze, he remembered everything she said? How was that even possible? She continued to worry as another thought crossed her mind. He didn't remember fighting the Beast in his mind. She was puzzled but thankful that he didn't remember their conversation. He couldn'r know her true feeling for him. What if he didn't feel the same way? What if he would stop talking to her if he found out? No, it was definitely best kept a secret from him.
"You've been out for about three months or so." She replied as she snapped out of her thoughts.
"What? Three months! That sucks." He exclaimed as a small smile appeared and then disappeared on Raven's face. He may be older than the Beast Boy she remembered but he was still very much the same.
"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!" Cyborg yelled as he stood in the doorway. "Is Beast Boy okay?" He asked Raven as he turned on the lights and ran over. Hunter groaned as the bright lights hurt his eyes and he clutched his face in pain.
"No. Everything's fine Cyborg. I got it under control." Raven replied angrily as she once again turned the lights off. Cyborg went to turn them on but was stopped by a wall of energy. "They hurt his eyes so for now, they will stay off. You can examine him once he feels better." Raven threateningly said as she looked Cyborg in the eyes intensely.
"Okay, okay. My sensors picked up a change in his state so I got worried." He replied as he turned on his night vision and did the best he could to check Hunter's healing progress. "Hey there Grass Stain, how ya feeling?" He said as he turned to Hunter.
"I'd feel better if you two would stop calling me Beast Boy. But other than that, I'm good enough to kick your but in Super Smash Monkeys 5." He replied as he attempted to get up.
"Whoa there tiger. You may be healed enough to leave the coma, but there ain't no way I'm gonna let you leave this room. Also, 5? They just released 9. We gotta get you caught up man." Cyborg said, smiling.
"Let him rest." Raven added, holding back a smile. "Why don't you go tell the others, I'll watch him." Cyborg nodded as he took one last look at the monitors and then left the darkened room.
"Pfft. Watch me. I don't need watching." Hunter grumbled.
"Calm down. Listen, Be-Hunter. I've been thinking about this for awhile and you have to join the team again. It'll be like you never left." Raven replied.
"Well, I'll think about it for sure. A lot has changed in the past few years though."
"I know. It's just-"
"Friend, Beast Boy! Glorious news that you have finally awoken! We shall resume our friendship, correct?" Starfire cheerfully yelled as she flew into the room and plopped herself on the other side of his bed.
"Of course, Star. How could I ever not be friends with my favorite alien?" Hunter replied with a smile and a wink.
"Well, well, well. Look whose finally awake." Robin smiled from the doorway. "Hey...uhh...I'm not sure how much you heard while you were in the com-." He continued.
"I forgive you Robin." Hunter smiled. Robin nodded.
"Hey Cy, how long until I'm fixed?" Hunter asked.
"Uhh, you heal so much faster than you used to that I honestly got no idea B." Cyborg replied as he scratched his head. Hunter tried to get up but barely made it a quarter of the way before groaning in pain and laying back down.
"Hey, what do you think your doing?" Raven asked, trying to hide her worry.
"Im hungry." Hunter replied simply as he smiled.
"Hey tough guy, maybe ask one of us instead of trying to do it yourself." Robin replied smiling as he held up plate of badly cooked tofu. "Think of it as repayment." He shrugged as Hunter's eyes lit up.
"That's what I'm talking about. Thanks Robin!" Hunter exclaimed as he sat up at with inhuman speed. His smile faded as he looked at the Titan's shocked faces.
"Uhh. Couldn't he barely get up two seconds ago?" Raven asked.
"Dude, he was completely immobilized two minutes ago. B, if you heal this fast...I don't really know. You had enhanced healing before...well, ya know." Cyborg rambled.
"Cy, get to the point." Robin said impatiently.
"Right. Basically, you heal really fast while knocked out, but even faster when you're awake. Most people are the opposite. This means, you are really hard to kill. It explains why you haven't died yet, explains why your coma took so long, and also why Slade used the mind poison on you instead of normal poison." Cyborg explained.
"So he's indestructible?" Raven asked.
"Closest thing to it that I've seen." Cyborg replied.
"That's awesome." Hunter said. Robin simply nodded.
"Friend Hunter is almost like the gorblorgs. This is most wonderful news." Starfire chimed in.
"Alright team, let him rest. He'll need his strength in the upcoming fight. We still have Slade to take care of." Robin ordered as he nodded to Hunter before leaving the room. Cyborg and Starfire followed him out while Raven remained.
"I'm not leaving you until you've fully healed. Not again." Raven said, trying to stop her emotions from taking over.
"I'll be fine Rave. Trust me." Hunter replied as he smiled.
"Too bad. You're stuck with me." She said as she sat in the chair next to his bed and tried to hide a smile. Hunter shrugged as he felt his eyes grow heavy. As he drifted to sleep, Raven used her magic to shield him and sat in the darkness with her thoughts.
