The Nightmare
"Hunter...Hunter...Beast Boy!" Raven called as she tried to calm the thrashing Hunter while he slept. Her attempts at waking him failing, Raven yelled his name telepathically. Hunter woke up startled as he found Raven hugging him hard to stop him from moving. He immediately calmed his movements and looked around, confused.
"What happened?" He asked puzzled. Raven let go and clutched her side unseen by Hunter.
"You had a nightmare I think." She said.
"Oh. Damnit. I'm sorry about scaring you." Hunter said as he rolled over to go back to sleep.
"Its...okay." Raven breathed out before groaning in pain.
"Are you o-" hunter said as he turned around and saw blood pooling around her. He looked at her side and saw three deep scratches that he recognized as Beast claw marks. He looked at Raven, frozen with fear. She looked at her wounds and then at him before groaning in pain once more. Hunter snapped out of his trance as he immediately began healing Raven using his own energy. Slowly he fixed the internal injuries before finally healing her skin. He had to stop early, however, as his energy had been severely drained. All that remained were three small scars where the wounds once were. Reeling from the amount of blood lost, Raven simply put her hand on Hunter's arm to tell him to stop. Hunter, too, wavered on the edge of consciousness as he slowly regained his energy.
Half an hour later, Raven quietly meditated to regain her energy from the lost blood meanwhile Hunter sat in the darkness, ashamed. When she finished, she put a hand on Hunter's shoulder and spoke.
"Hey, listen. It wasn't your fault." Hunter hung his head as she spoke before replying.
"What good is my power if it hurts those I care about?" He replied quietly. She could tell he had been crying.
"Look. I'm fine. See?" She said as she gently turned his head to see her. He glanced at her side and through the tear in her shirt he could see three small scars. He shook his head in anger seeing this. "Hey hey hey. Don't do that. Without you I would have been in much worse shape." She said as she held his hand and caressed his face.
"Without me this wouldn't have happened. I should just go. You don't deserve someone who could hurt you." He said as he stared at her scars.
"No. I want to be with you. This isn't anything compared to how I'd feel if I lost you a second time." Raven replied motioning to the scars. "I need you, Logan."
"I...I." Hunter said, unable to speak as emotions clouded his mind. Self-loathing, love, anger, and sadness all clouded his mind as he reached to hug Raven only to hesitate and pull back in fear of hurting her again. Raven saw through this and reached in to hug him. Realizing his fear she held him tight to prevent him from pulling away.
"I love you. Nothing's gonna change that." Raven said as she buried her face in his shoulder and squeezed. Hunter hesitated before hugging her back, his mind still at a loss and his emotions running amok.
