"Bullshit" I looked back up excitedly when I heard the oh so familiar voice

and there he was.

It was still blurry

But even through the fog left by my lack of glasses I could see his ocean blue eyes.

"Ric! Oh Merlin Ric I'm so sorry"

I went to hold his hand and he took mine in his,

Gently He used it to pull me into his arms

I obliged leaning as he dragged me forward

Once securely in his arms he smiled down at me

Then placed a kiss on my cheek

then another

and another.

I blushed and pulled away to see, once again, his shining smile.

"I'm so happy your okay.

And it isn't your fault alright?

Neither of us knew what the cup was.

But you wanna know what is your fault?" he asked

His eyes suddenly shifted from understanding to remembered panic and anger.

They went a little glossy as if remembering something.

Then he refocused and continued.

"Jumping in front of that curse,

I thought I'd lost you.

Love,

Angle

Harry

I can't lose you." he finished

Tears were shining is his eyes and I could feel them in mine too

Whether they were from relief,

actual sadness,

or simply the fact that my magic was slipping I couldn't tell you.

But whatever they were for I couldn't let them fall.

Cedric's parents,

my only remaining parent figure

and two members of the hogwarts staff were watching.

So instead I brushed my tears away and smiled lightly.

"Well that I won't apologise for.

That's one thing I don't regret from…"

I paused

I had been about to say last night

But

I actually have no idea how long it's been.

In fact there is a lot I don't know.

When had Sirius gotten here

And for that matter what in the devil's blasted name had possessed him to come?

What about what happened in the graveyard?

Had Cedric told them?

Was that really Voldemort?

"Harry?" Cedric prompted me.

"Harry Angel what's happening behind those emeralds of yours?"

I blushed at Cedric's use of the pet name.

Then stuttered out.

"I don't know how long I was asleep."

Everyone laughed a little

then told him it had been six days since the third task.

I blushed even more and Mrs. Diggory cooed over me in response

setting off a vicious and mortifying cycle.

Sirius, on the other,

Obvious,

Hand was laughing his barking dog laughter in the corner.

I of course did the maturething and glared at him.

He laughed harder.

I was distracted by movement in the corner of my eyes

And looked to see that Cedric had sat up

And pulled himself up to lean against the pillows and the white wall behind them.

Then he invited me to sit on the bed next to him.

Fighting the urge to blush yet again I obliged and,

Now sitting at his side,

I leaned into him.

Now comfortable and stationary.

I Finally let go of the magic holding back my pain.

I felt the pain rush back in a winced slightly but otherwise held it together.

But it was enough for Madam Pomfrey to notice and shove a pain reliever down my throat.

My chest didn't feel so horribly anymore

For which I blamed the burn cream.

But the pain reliever made the pain into a dull throb.

And for that I was thankful.

Sirius jumped to sit on our legs his head hanging off my hip,

And I absentmindedly ran my hands through his fur

Allowing the feel of it to ground me.

Finally,

with that I settled back,

leaning more fully into Cedric,

and began to get to know his parents.

A couple hours after I'd joined Cedric in his hospital wing bed

His IV filled with what I found out was a reinvigorating serum had been removed

I had pointed out the curse wounds to Madam Pomfrey knowing they were hard to detect

And given her the spells that had caused them

Or at least,

the ones I could remember.

My lightning wound had been rebound twice, new burn cream added both times

And as everyone had expected as such

The news that it had been caused by the killing curse surprised no one.

And I could tell you right now that I adore Cedric's parents.

They probably would have won my favor just by the way the reacted to Sirius

And of course the news of his innocence.

They had been so blase about it

After the initial shock at least.

But that wasn't all

Mr. Diggory and I had a lot of fun bragging about Cedric.

Together we outlined our favorite of Cedrics achievements and shared some the other hadn't been present for or aware of.

Much to his adorable embarrassment

I particularly liked the story of Cedrics first bath

and he seemed to like the story of our first date.

He was always on Cedric's side ready to defend him against any slight

something I could not only approve of,

but also can recognize as something he had passed down to his son.

Cedric's mom was a bit of a mother hen

She seemed to enjoy fussing over Cedric and quickly shifted to include me in her fussing as well.

She was kind and gentle

And I was both surprised and delighted at our mutual love of movies.

We spoke for a long while about our favorite muggle movies

and then she made Cedric swear to take me along to some of their family movie night to experience the wizard equivalent.

All the while Sirius held vigil watching our interactions

A constant presence

But silent

rarely joining in

I pushed my worry aside

Thinking that he was probably just uncomfortable the amount people

Understandable,

for someone who just spent twelve years in solitude.

After all the excitement both Cedric and I were starting to feel the ware again.

Madam Pomfrey as was her way saw this and tried to shoo the parents out of her hospital wing.

"Before we go I must ask that Mr. Potter and Mr. Diggory share with me what led them to their current state."

Piped up Professor Dumbledore

as he stepped forward into our line of sight.

Cedric shifted me lightly to the side of the bed moving to help me get off.

"You go and lay down I'll speak with Professor Dumbledore."

I stood uneasily

shooting my boyfriend a hesitant look.

"Go, you were out for most of it anyways."

I go to my hospital bed and lie down.

I could hear Cedric from the other side of the curtain

that Madam Pomfrey had pulled back into place

and his voice calms me,

despite the woeful words it spoke.

It didn't take long for him to lull me to sleep soundly under

Padfoot's watchful eye.
