Alice stayed by his side for as long as she could until Percy was well enough to be discharged.

"I think I should stay tonight make sure you're well enough to manage on your own" Alice said as she walked him to his bedroom, he wasn't in near enough as much paid but was still stiff when moving.

"Alice, I'll be fine I'm a grown man" He laughed.

"Are you sure? I don't want you being on your own and hurting yourself" Alice said frowning with concern.

"I'll be fine, I start work in a few days so it's best that I get used to moving" Alice stood there gobsmacked.

"You're going back to work?" She gasped "Percy you've not long been discharged"

"Alice I'm ok I promise, but I do love how you care about me so" He said looking deep into her eyes and pulling her in for a tender kiss. She couldn't believe how much Percy had changed since that day in hospital.

"I'll see you in a few days then to take you off your shift" Alice said with a smile, she really didn't want to leave him. What if he was all alone and he really needed someone? Atleast his stitches were out so he couldn't rip them. Percy nodded and kissed her again.

"See you then" Percy said with a smile, tenderly moving a strand of hair behind her ear.

During Percy's first shift back Alice was worried stiff, was he managing ok, was he in pain, we're the staff being nice to him? After all he'd been through she hated the thought of him having to go through workplace bullying too.

Alice decided to go into work abit early so that she could have a quick chat with Percy about how his shift went. Alice pulled up outside of work to what can only be discribed as chaos. She walked into a swarm of ambulances and police carrying guns. Her heart dropped to her shoes, no she was wrong, it was just a riot or something, it couldn't be Percy.

She jumped out the car and ran straight to the Sherif.

"Hi, excuse me Sherif, I... I work here I'm just about to start my shift what's happening here, what's gone on?" Alice blurted out.

"We had reports of gun fire"

"Gun fire! what's happened who's been shot?"

"I'm unable to say at this time, but someone is seriously injured"

"Injured? Who? Let me in Sherif please I'm medically trained, I can help"

"I can't do that ma'am"

"Sherif please, they need all the hands they can" The Sherif begrudgingly nodded in agreement and gestured toward the door.

Alice ran into the mile, praying to God that it wasn't anything to do with Percy but deep down she knew. She rushed in to find Percy pinned to the ground by Paul and Brutal. They both looked up at the sound of the door and saw her.

"Alice, go home you don't need to see this" Brutal said sympathetically standing up from the now submissive Percy and walking towards her.

"What... What's happening Brutal?" Alice stuttered, looking at Percy pinned to the ground. Brutal wrapped his strong arms around her.

"Wharton, he's... He's been shot, Percy he just sort of snapped" Brutal struggled to explain the situation knowing how close Alice was to him.

"I... I need to see him, I need to talk to him" Alice pleading.

"I'm not sure how much sense you'll get out of him"

"Paul, please let him up he's not going to hurt anyone else" Alice begged, seeing Percy squashed under Paul's weight looking utterly submissive and defeated.

"I... I shouldn't Alice till we tell the sherif it's safe and undercontrol to arrest him" Paul explained.

"please" Alice said, her voice breaking as she tried not to cry "I need to just try and talk to him before he gets taken" She could feel the lump forming in her throat, Paul looked at Brutal and Brutal nodded, he knew he could easily take down Percy again if he tried anything now he was disarmed.

Paul looked at Percy, he looked spaced out like he was doped but he wasn't.

"Percy, I'm going to let you go now you here, just be quiet and be still dont cause no more trouble you hear" Percy just stared at him dazed. So slowly and cautiously he released Percy from his grip and helped sit him up.

Alice ran to his side and knelt in front of him, she knew he would never hurt her, he loved her.

"Percy, Hay sweetheart it's me" She choked trying not to cry she had to stay strong for him. Slowly Percy turned his head towards her looked gormless and zoned out.

"Hay you" Alice said putting her palm flat against his baking hot cheek. "Oh Percy what did you do, what happened to you?"

"We think he's had some kind of mental breakdown" Paul explained. A tear ran down Alice's face.

"You lied to me Percy, you promised me that you wouldn't do it" She sobbed wiping the tears from her eyes. "I'm not going to be able to protect you no more, there's nothing I can do" Alice cried pulling him into her arms.

"Alice..." Paul went to caution her.

"It's OK Paul he won't hurt me, it was all about wildbill" Alice sobbed into Percys shoulder.

"I promise Percy, I promise I'll help you where I can, but I don't think I can help you out of this one, you've really done it this time"

"Alice we need to get the sherif... Its time" Paul said putting his hand confortingly on her shoulder. Alice sniffed and nodded.

"I love you Percy" She whispered in his ear before finally letting him go. She so wished he'd say it to her too but all he did was stare at her with the same gormless expression. Alice sat on the floor and buried her face into Paul's chest and cried as Percy was dragged away by the law, she couldn't bare to see him get dragged away from her. For once Percy had got himself into a situation that Alice couldn't save him from.
