Chapter 1: Unholy Trinity

It was one of objects reminders of the bitterest moments of Albus Dumbledore's existence, but which he nonetheless cherished very much as they were to him also source of great wisdom. Actually it was the object – Ariana's wand.

Official version, as stated by Elphias Doge, was that three Muggle boys had attacked Ariana, for which they had been savagely punished by her father.

It is true that something had happened to Ariana Dumbledore, something which had changed her to the deepest essence, but that something had nothing to do with three Muggle boys, it had to do with disappearing from her home on the night with no moon, and being found the next day in a very particular place of Dartmoor. In their vanity, Wizards and Witches had turned their backs on many true magic and natural forces and associated them with Muggle superstition, had that not been the case, Godric's Hollow would never had been built so close to the entrance to the White and Black Lodges of Dartmoor.

Some supernatural parasite had taken hold of Ariana's very soul, and corrupted her magic and transformed her into an Obscurus, which had ultimately killed her mother, leaving thus Ariana in care of her much inexperienced and unprepared brothers.

This wand had not been purchased at Olivander's or from any other wandmaker, it was Gellert's gift to Ariana – proof of his complete love and acceptance of her true nature, of which he apparently had far better understanding than her family.

Albus had noticed Gellert starting to have extensive conversations with his aunt about various local legends, Muggle local legends about primal forces, older than magic, residing in nearby marshes.

And one night with no moon, he too had gone to that special place in Dartmoor. When he returned the next morning, his hair was completely white and he was in possession of a hollow cylinder stick made of pitch resin, To activate her wand Ariana filled the hollow with the substance of her Obscurus form.

The brothers had been completely gobsmacked with the actions of Grindelwald, and remained standing petrified and helpless as Ariana embraced completely her true form for the first time. The Obscurus cloud had then swallowed Grindelwald and together they had disappeared.

The wand had later become property of their son Aurelius.

After the final victory over Grindelwald, the wand had joined other objects in a special box placed in the attic of Dumbledore ancestral home in Godric's Hollow.

It had lain dormant for many years, until a desperate young couple and their baby had appeared.

It had witnessed formidable trap the woman had acted upon her foe, and the abomination which had placed itself in the scar. It took opportunity of the house collapsing to place itself in the baby's crib.

The next morning, when Petunia Dursley discovered her nephew in a basket on her doorstep, in the folds of the blue blanket there was also the black stick.
