The office was crowded and silent. Silent as the grave, it wasn't this silent when Sarutobi had summoned Namikaze Minato, Jiraiya and Senju Tsunade into his office to declare that Orochimaru had become a nuke-nin; on the grounds of torture, experimentation and grave-robbing to be the least of his crimes.
The only other time it could have been this quiet was when Itachi had been tasked with killing off the Uchiha Clan. The only guaranteed safeguard had been the re-worked security and silencing seals that came with the Hokage Office and Jiraiya's copious use of Security and Assassination Toads…Yes, the Toads had some that specialised in assassination, it was more 'wait, wait, swallow, wait, wait rinse and repeat'.
"This is catastrophically bad news. Should any of this get out…We'll face an imminent civil war. What is worse, I cannot even call on the Clans for assistance."
Tenten looked at the room "Four ANBU, my Sensei, The Copycat Ninja, two-semi retired ninja, a genin and one Sannin…Yeah, I'm struggling to see what I bring to the table."
"The ability to never miss a shot…It doesn't help that you're one of the best shurikenjutsu, bukijutsu and all around genuine Weapon Mistress since Senju Hanta. Hanta, died in the warring clans era taking out five Uchiha; one of whom was Uchiha Kagami's great-grandfather; Shunshin no Shisui's great-great grandfather and subsequent great-great-great grandfather." Tsunade explained "I've seen your files. You have a great deal of your fathers traits including his ironclad control over his chakra and a very similar density but your overall reserves are going to be at maximum a third of his overall chakra capacity."
Tenten's eyes widened "Still I don't know much…"
Jiraiya grinned at her "You will. You will. When I'm through with you, you'll be one of the new Sannin."
Tenten eye's widened at the thought of being trained by a Sannin! "I'll teach you as well, you're going to need a very thorough grounding in your paternal inheritance of kenjutsu, especially if you're taking after your father."
"Enough! Tenten has a youthful future! But that is to come, we need to focus on the now. One of our own is being tortured! One who has been wronged by Konohagakure no Sato most severely." Gai stated.
Tsunade nodded "Kakashi, Tenzo…"
"We'll find the entrance to Root."
"I'll talk to a few of the ANBU…Squad Ro. Squad Ro is strange." Yugao said.
Squad Ro, a squad that could, would and had told superior officers where they could stick orders if they were not from the Hokage, directly. Hayate wheezed slightly "I'll talk the Hiraishin Platoon. One's a playboy, the other's sociopathic and the other is just a genius; separately they might not look like much but hands down they're loyal."
Tsunade nodded "Unfortunately, it's no good if the targets are all scattered. I need them all together."
(Naruto)
Naruto swore briefly as yet another masked ANBU attacked him. This was the fifth attacker; unfortunately, this one was seemed to avoid his shadow clones. Naruto replaced himself with an exploding log; paper bombs on a log when used in the replacement jutsu.
Naruto, wouldn't admit but he was beginning to run low on chakra. He just had to survive…Wait, Hari-sensei had informed him that Chakra Pills were pretty potent but the standard batch handed out to Konoha Forces had been made to restore even Jiraiya; a member of the Sannin with enough chakra reserves and density to rival Uzumaki Kushina in full fury.
He had two pouches of thirty pills. He grabbed three, ingested them and the last thing he coherently remembered was the pulling of his blades.
(Danzo)
Shimura Danzo, Utane Koharu and Mitokado Homura sat in Section Nine of the Warrens. The Warrens were the underground passageways, hollow buildings and rabbit holes that snaked, twisted and writhed in Konoha. The Warrens were also the home of the ANBU; whose copious use of them, gave the Jonin and the Civilians the very compelling impression of being 'boogeymen' and 'everywhere-at-once'.
"What is it Danzo?" Rumbled Homura.
Danzo looked at his fellow councillors "We have a most troublesome leaf…"
"Slit his throat and be done with it, no need to concern us." Koharu chimed in.
"I would, if it was not for the fact that he knows some…perculiar information, information that I would rather not be revealed." With that Danzo removed the bracer on his arm. These two had reached the end of their usefulness. But in their deaths, Danzo smirked as he pulled a kunai.
(Konoha 10)
With Naruto gone and Sasuke as well, the remaining Genin were at a loss! Sakura, especially. Seeing her two friends, yes she considered Naruto a friend, and her supposed love leave Konoha…She decided to train.
Under a semi-watchful eye of Miterashi Anko, rather Anko's serpents leaving the girl lunch and scrolls, Sakura had begun to bloom. Anko now watched her openly; from Anko's warped view point Sakura was at the pinnacle of a multitude of paths and not all of them good.
(Tenten, Lee and Neji)
Ten slammed a bo-staff into Lee's gut; before pulling on her Johyo and cord and suspending Neji by his feet. "Bravo, young Tenten…Now Lee, Neji what happened? What went wrong?"
Neji sighed "I forgot just how skilled Tenten was with her bo-staff and Johyo due to the fact, she seldom uses them."
"I mis-read her footwork using that technique you taught us…Only…"
"You misjudged it and blocked my path, inadvertently…"
Guy nodded; Tenten shot him a look and he reluctantly nodded "Neji, Lee…Tenten's had some rather startling revelations told about her."
"I'd appreciate it if you didn't hold it against me."
Neji's eyes narrowed "Naruto, alluded to something."
(Flashback)
"Yeah…Just something sensei said to me a while back…About Tenten actually…No-one's business aside for those who know." Naruto replied.
"What do you know?" Neji countered.
Naruto stopped "Depends on what Tenten's told you or you've found out. Just I know stuff first hand from Hari-sensei. He mentioned it in context about us being the sticking points of the council."
(End Flashback)
Lee and Guy were confused and Tenten had unspilled tears in her eyes "Uzuki Hari, Naruto's sensei…is my father. The Higurashi's were Tou-sans, Genin Team…My mother was a deep-cover mole searcher from Iwa with allegedly a Kekkei Genkai. Tou-san, broke cover and broke out of Iwa killing everyone who followed us and nearly killed himself and me to get to less hostile ground. Jiraiya-sama intervened and according to Jiraiya-sama my father was half-dead, nearly out of chakra and was acting more like a raging Inuzuka. His words were 'All I've done for you…You can do me the small service of getting my little girl home. Take her to Higurashi and tell them everything'." Neji's eyes widened further as he awkwardly hugged his teammate.
"Where is he?"
"Gone…He's taken somewhere. Anyway he's left a paper bomb for us…A load of us, Guy-Sensei; Kakashi-Sensei; My Parents…The Higurashi's, Jiraiya-Sama…and a few people I've never met. It's literally nine against an army."
"I shall talk to my Uncle. Tsunade-Sama has the backing of Hyuga Hisashi as a shinobi, but whether that includes Hyuga Hisashi; Master of the Hyuga House with the full Hyuga Clan at his back, I know not. He has me."
(Team 10)
Sarutobi Asuma looked at his former child-sitter "This…This…is Mendouske…Tsunade-onee, Tsunade-Sama, you have my backing. Sarutobi clan should follow me…"
"Only those you can trust."
Asuma nodded "I shall make my enquries…although may I take a copy of some of this…"
The evidence of Danzo using the deceased Uchiha eyes for his arm, would cause the entirety of the Sarutobi Clan to prepare to mobilise. They were the first to ally with the Senju; first to join Konohagakure no Sato; balanced the holistic entity of the Ino-Shika-Cho families. No-one would accuse the Sarutobi of allowing anyone to knowingly sabotage Konoha for their own ideals.
(Team 8)
Kurenai was on edge. Something was going on and right now she needed to know; she needed to know in case it was going to backlash onto her team. "Sensei…I sense something…It's not right. Quite below us! Hinata…"
The Hyuga Heiress needed no further prompting and activated her dojutsu, "I, see nothing…Oh wait…I see something." Just then the building next to them exploded.
Shino's bugs erupted forwards. "Torune-nii?"
(Warrens)
"My thanks…my friends. You shall be…remembered. Fu, deal with the prisoner." Danzo murmured as he caught a look of himself in a mirror. He smirked wryly, his arm of Sharingan all of them had mutated. "If only you knew what one life paid could do Fugaku. Two lives for all of the power, I could need to craft Konoha into the nation she should be."
With that he formed a unique set of hand seal "Shimura Hidenfuuinjutsu: Autonomy Override! Hidenfuuinjutsu: Activate Root! Assassinate the Hokage and the High Command…For the ANBU have murdered the honoured members of the Konoha Council Mitokado Homura and Utane Koharu!"
Fu, headed down the hallways drawing his tanto as he went and pulling his puppet on to his back. He entered the prison cell where Uzuki Hari lay slumped against the wall. After a brutal six hours of genjutsu torture half an hour of which had been done with a Tsukuyomi. Danzo had let him collapse on the floor.
Hari barely twitched as Fu entered. The tipless tanto made it's way towards him parting the air with a slight hum as it rushed towards him. Hari, moved. This was not like a smooth shinobi rolling out of the way, but more of a sluggish, weary but defiant man who had refused to yield.
Fu stopped, this should have been easy! He suddenly folded over as his victim managed to get his shoulder into the Yamanaka's solar plexus, the tanto fell from his hand. Hari's hand was moving like a striking snake and the blade ruptured the Yamanaka's throat "Idiot." Hari rasped, the tanto squelched free, Hari swayed and with his balance and chakra returning, he left his cell.
"Just like Iwa…Only much easier." Hari stepped into the shadows and vanished into the warrens.
(Kakashi and Ro, Warrens)
"We find the jail cells and we find Uzuki Hari…We bring him home." The six ANBU, rather one former ANBU, one on leave and four active ANBU descended into the Warrens. They were some of the best ANBU and Jonin in the Force.
They were not going to die without a fight. For the moment they entered the Warrens, they had been met with ANBU wielding no longer commissioned tip-less tantos instead of katana's. "Who do you serve?" Kakashi asked. This was a common code-phrase in the Warrens, it was rather simple with the correct and acceptable responses being 'The betterment of Konoha' and 'The Future Leaves of the Tree."
"Danzo-Sama and Konoha's Dominance." Kakashi's eye closed, his protector went up and a sharingan eye illuminated in the gloom as Uzuki Yugao and Hayate Gekko swiftly took down the four members of Root that had come to meet them.
(Above around Konoha)
Root Shinobi rushed out of hideouts long forgotten passageways that had been collapsed or forgotten. Those that had collapsed were repaired and those forgotten circulated.
A few members of the Hyuga clan had launched a few daring assassination attempts at Hisashi, The Elders and Hyuga Neji but aside from one Elder being slightly wounded. Neji had managed to paralyse two attackers, whom had attacked him and Hanabi.
Hisashi had taken his attackers almost completely in stride and almost immediately immobilised them "Hyuga Clan! We must protect Konoha!"
Similar cries were heard over Konoha as the clans engaged with their traitorous elements.
(Naruto)
Naruto had made it out of the forest, crashing heavily onto the sand and grass that represented the boundary between Suna and Konoha. He rolled forwards, utilising the water-walking exercise, he fled deeper into the desert.
"Over here…Damn it…He's crashing." Were the last words he heard as he began to collapse from exhaustion.
