"'Ello! How are you? I bet you're just fine! Yep. Looking quite, um, rested-you are! How's it been? You know, being asleep for eighty-some odd years and all. Bet it does nothing for your face… I really do think beauty sleep is somewhat of a hoax, considering that you, unfortunately, don't look any better than the last few times I've visited your chamber. But hey! Beauty's only skin deep, yeah? In the eye of the beholder, and I'm the beholder!"
Wheatley blinked his optic lids a few times, his lower lid raised in the express purpose of an attempt at smiling, expectance radiating from his only optic as it apprehensively awaited the slightest shift from the occupant.
"On that note, you'd never believe what I found the other day while I was roaming around the facility! Only another core with a blue optic, just like mine! The poor bloke had no idea, though! I tried to tell him-you know, similarities and all-but he seemed to be in no condition to listen. To be quite honest with you, he wasn't moving, either. Not sure if he realized that or not. Probably should consider get that 'not-moving-at-all' condition of his checked out, or at least acknowledge that I was talking to him. Kind of hoping the same from you, because, well, you still haven't said-or moved, for that matter-anything."
The silence was far too unbearable to stop rambling at this point.
"Am I, you know, bothering you… in any way? I try to keep up with all of you while you're out and about counting sheep and all that, you know. But it's fine, you know, if I am, bothering you, that is. Certainly wouldn't want to be intruding on your privacy. Honestly, all you need to do is say the word and I'll be gone! Just-um, it's simple really-just say 'go away!' Easy! Actually, I'll make it even easier! Just say 'go!' Yeah? No? Can you at least roll your eyes or something? Let me know you're not dead?"
A few moments of staggering silence-save for the churning of the core's inner mechanics-passed. Wheatley's handles lowered, whatever resolve he held slowly diminishing as he visibly slumped.
"Too, um, cheerful there, mate." He sighed, raising his optic to the ceiling in a makeshift expression of exasperation, his inner workings creaking at the sudden motion. He shook his body in discouragement, lowering his optic to the ground.
"Shouldn't be surprised. " He silently chuckled, lifting his optic to glance at the occupant's still form.
"You are dead, aren't you?"
