Hey babes! Back again with a new chapter for ya!

Enjoy!

"Morning," Skye says as she steps up into the hair and makeup trailer, setting her travel mug of coffee on the counter in front of her. She lets out a large yawn as she settles herself into her chair, sinking down in it to try and get comfortable.

"Morning," Grant replies, barely glancing up from the book open in his lap. "You have a good weekend?"

She nods. "Yeah. You?"

He shrugs. "It was okay. Didn't do a whole lot, though."

Skye's brows furrow as she watches him. "Why do you seem super down right now?" she asks, leaning down to pet Max when he saunters over to her.

"I'm not down."

"Could have fooled me." She breathes in deeply as she shifts in her chair to face her friend better, resting her arms on the side of the seat. "Anything I can help you with to make you feel better? Maybe mess with your programming a little?"

He cracks a smile. "No, thanks, I'm fine."

"Alright." She takes another sip from her coffee, tilting her head a little as she takes in her appearance in the large mirror in front of her. Good thing her hair and makeup get done by professionals for the show. "Oh, hey, is Jemma coming by the set for lunch later today? I feel like I haven't seen her in forever."

"No, she's not coming today. And she probably won't for a while. At least, not with me."

Her brows furrow as she looks over at him. "What? How come? Did something happen?"

"She and I broke up over the weekend."

"Wait, really?" She fights to keep the joy out of her voice. She genuinely likes the other woman and hopes that things aren't going to be too bad. She was just starting to feel like they were becoming really good friends and she doesn't want something like a breakup to keep their friendship from progressing any further. But she'd be lying if she said she wasn't happy that Grant's single. That they're both finally single at the same time.

"Yeah. We both knew going into the relationship again that we were just doing it because it was comfortable and familiar. But we did it anyway."

"Ah. Well, I'm sorry to hear about you two breaking up, even if it was amicable…?"

He nods. "Yeah, it was. And thanks. I mean, I still care about her, that'll never change, I just...I don't think I could really love her in the long term and have a future with her. That's not to say she's not a great person, because she is. She's one of the best, most genuine people that I know. She's just not the right person for me at the end of the day."

"Oh. Well, I hope you find the right person for you. Maybe not today or tomorrow, because that might be a bit rushed since you guys just broke up, but hopefully before too long you'll find the right person for you."

He gives her a small smile. "Thanks."

She smiles back. "That's what I'm here for."

"I thought you were here to be a constant pain?" he jokes.

Her jaw drops. "You, sir, better watch yourself."

Grant laughs quietly. "Is that a threat? Because I don't feel very threatened right now."

"Oh, it was most definitely a threat. And you won't necessarily see it coming, but I will get you back when you least expect it."

He flashes her a smile that makes her heart jump higher than it ever has. "I'm looking forward to it."

Locking her phone when she sees her co-star walking past her, Skye smiles brightly in his direction. "Hey, Grant." She waves him over when he looks up.

"Hey, what's up?" he asks as he gets closer.

"Are you busy this weekend?" She shifts a little in her set chair, eager and anxious for his answer. She's taking a big risk here, asking him out, but it's one that she knows she needs to make. Partially for her own sanity, but mostly because she really wants to. She just hopes he doesn't think it's too soon since he just broke up with Jemma a few days prior.

His brows furrow a little and he tilts his head. "Um, I'm not sure. Why?"

"I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out on Saturday. I was thinking we could stay in and watch something, or go out and do something. Whatever you want. I just want to hang out. I feel like we don't hang out enough with each other outside of filming." Her heart hammers inside her chest as she waits for his response, for him to say something, anything.

Grant shifts on his feet and rubs at the back of his neck. "Um, I would love to hang out this weekend, I really would, but I actually have something important happening that I, unfortunately, can't get out of. No matter how hard I try."

Her brows furrow together in concern, her heart sinking a little. "Oh, really? Is everything okay?"

"Yeah, no, everything's fine. Just something that I need to deal with. Raincheck for another day, though?"

"Yeah, sure."

"Great." He gives her a small smile before making his way across the lot in the direction of the Stunt Department, probably to check over the stunt he has to do later in the day.

She sighs as she falls back in her chair, pulling her phone out and unlocking it again to continue scrolling through Twitter. She fights back the tears that are threatening to spill over. It's not like he outright said he didn't want to hang out, just that he couldn't that weekend. There's still a chance that he does like her, but he really is busy and can't hang out yet. And she didn't explicitly say that it would be a date, so how would he even know that was her intention.

Quickly getting bored with Twitter after favoriting a few different tweets from some of her mutual followers, she switches over to Instagram. She forgoes checking her feed and instead goes to the section of her profile that shows the posts that she's been tagged in. It's rare that she actually has time to go through this section. But there's always something new there when she does.

Scrolling through the various drawings, paintings, animations, and computer-generated images of her and sometimes her and Grant, it definitely lifts her mood. There's the occasional image of her with other members of the cast as well, even some drawings of photos she's posted of herself and Bobbi. But she notices a definite trend of images of her and Grant, some of them as their characters.

She loves seeing the things that the fans come up with. No matter what type of art form it is, she loves seeing it. Her favorites are definitely the hand-drawn/painted ones, though. She tries to notice as many fans as she can, but it's not always easy, and she doesn't always have the time to do it. But it's downtime on set like this that she really tries to take advantage of and go through her tagged photos.

She goes through and likes and comments on as many photos as she can before she's called back to set again for their next scene of the day.

She just hopes things aren't weird between her and Grant now. That's the last thing she needs.

"I think I read things wrong, Bobbi."

"What do you mean?"

Skye sighs into her phone, falling back onto her bed with a soft thud and a frown on her face. "Well, he broke up with Jemma over the weekend, apparently, and when I asked him if he wanted to hang out with me this Saturday he pretty much blew me off. Said that he's busy this weekend so he can't hang out."

"Maybe he really is busy."

"Really, Bobbi? The entire time we've known each other he's flirted with me relentlessly, even when he knew I had a boyfriend. I mean, it was kind of subtle, in a certain sense, and I'm not sure if he always knew he was doing it, but I know he was flirting with me."

"Maybe you wanted to believe he was flirting with you because you and Miles weren't in a good place anymore so you craved attention from someone else."

She rolls her eyes. "Thank you, Dr. Phil. But I know what I saw and heard, okay? He was definitely flirting with me since the day we met."

"I'm pretty sure I read somewhere once that he's a natural flirt, so maybe it was out of his control. You even said he might not have been aware he was doing it."

"Are you trying to make me more stressed out about this than I actually am?"

"No, I'm trying to help you cope just in case he really wasn't flirting with you and it was all in your head."

Skye groans heavily. "I don't know what to do, Bobbi. I thought he wanted to be with me, but I was with Miles, and then he was with Jemma so I couldn't ask him out, and now we're both single and I don't know what to do because I want to be with him but I don't even know if he wants to be with me. Maybe he does and he really is just busy this weekend so he can't hang out. Or maybe he doesn't actually want to be with me so he's trying to let me down gently but let me tell you that it is definitely not working."

"Okay, first of all, I think you're working yourself up way too much over this. You need to relax, calm down for a minute and start thinking like a regular human being again. Do you think you can do that?"

"I can try."

"That's a start."
