Uzumaki Naruto Chronicles Rewrite
Chapter 139
Sorry for the delay, This last half year has been an incredible and unsuspected journey. Moving forward I make no promises to post, unfortunately, with my current life I've got very little time I can devote to writing, but I will try!
Hinata gasped as she watched her best friend try to save Konohamaru, he was too late, he didn't react in time, and Konohamaru slid off the blade that had gone through his heart.
The young ninja hopeful was then batted off the roof by Sasuke. Hinata watched as he fell, his body hit the ground, with his injury he was unable to use chakra to soften the landing in a bloody pile on the ground next to her. She watched as his heart stopped beating, his chakra stopped circulating. The young boy who had been kind to her was dead.
Hinata let out a pain filled wail as the loss stung her heart. Too many people were dying today. It was all her fault.
Naruto appeared next to Sasuke with a Rasengan in hand, he thrust it at him, but Sasuke blocked his hand and quickly jumped away. Naruto didn't stop however, he charged after the former leaf ninja.
Hinata watched, stunned as Naruto angrily followed Sasuke, trying to attack him, that's when she dodged out of the way as Sakura jumped after her, slamming her fist into the ground. Hinata looked at her dumbstruck. Was the pinkette really trying to fight her, after watching Leaf ninja die, had she really fallen this far.
Rage began to boil in Hinata's veins, this ignorant woman attacking her village, after everything she had done to help Kabuto humiliate, and torture her. She had even practiced genjutsu on Hinata, used her as a test subject for new jutsu. She always thought Sakura had just been going with the flow doing what she was told, and in a place where she couldn't leave. She thought the pinkette was almost as much of a slave as she was. How wrong she was though, she had a chance to escape now, instead was using that chance to attack her.
Hinata clenched her fists, "What are you doing?! Why are you attacking your home, it doesn't make any sense!"
"I'm not a leaf ninja Hinata. I'm a soldier for Orochimaru. It's what my Sasuke wants of me." The banshee told her. "I've been ordered to capture you, Kabuto wants you back, come with me now, and he might even take it easy on you."
"I won't go back to him, he won't ever have me again, I would rather die!" Hinata couldn't stop the rage anymore, she couldn't believe Sakura would take her back to that torturous Hell. She charged the traitor, using her full speed she appeared next to Sakura, lunging with a palm thrust at her heart. Sakura knew it was coming, Hinata was faster than she thought, but she had anticipated the move, and had sidestepped, timing it right so that Hinata missed, and in her anger overextended. Sakura stepped back in as Hinata stumbled slightly, she slammed her elbow into Hinata's back, in between her shoulder blades. Hinata grunted as she slammed into the ground hard.
Sakura stepped on her back and pressed down, "Still weak and out of your league I see."
Hinata grunted in pain as Sakura applied more force, but she gathered her hands underneath herself and pushed hard, knocking Sakura off balance, she twisted and spun her feet trying to sweep Sakura's legs, making her jump back. Sakura jumped back, as Hinata stood up and got into her fighting position. Her back hurt a lot, Sakura was strong, her hits were brutal. She growled and charged again, throwing another palm strike, being smarter this time she didn't overextend, Sakura was able to dodge, but not counter, as Hinata fired another strike, keeping her on defense. Sakura wound up after another dodge and slammed her fist into the ground, sending a shockwave through it. Hinata stumbled slightly, and Sakura jumped at her, throwing a fist into her stomach. Hinata felt the air in her lungs leave in a hurry as she struggled to breathe, falling to the ground. She continued coughing, trying to catch her breath when Sakura laughed and tried to kick her in the side, only to feel her foot go numb.
Hinata rolled to the side and to her feet, one hand still holding her stomach, healing herself, while the other was out ready in front of her. She had been able to shoot chakra into Sakura while just barely blocking her kick.
Sakura grunted as she put her weight on her foot and grimaced, she would have to be careful, the gentlefist truly was devastating.
Before Hinata could move in to attack Sakura again, Jiraiya landed in front of her. Skidding and cratering the ground like a meteor. Hinata stared at him her eyes wide as he struggled to his feet, he was missing his left arm at the elbow, it was dripping blood, as were the multitude of other injuries.
Hinata looked at him with wide eyes, jumping in front of him as Orochimaru, and Kabuto landed in front to finish him off. "Why are you here?" Hinata asked them, trying to put on a front, but couldn't as she continued to shake with fear seeing Kabuto.
Jiraiya stood slowly, pulling her behind him as he did. He grimaced, obviously having a hard time.
Naruto landed next to them as Sasuke cratered into the ground next to Orochimaru. "Where's Kakashi?" Naruto asked as he landed.
"Dead. He was angry, it clouded his judgment and Kabuto ended him." Jiraiya told them.
Naruto growled turning towards Kabuto, "You bastard. I'm going to kill you!"
"Not likely," Kabuto told him smirking.
Naruto growled, "Hinata, run. This fight is too high level for you, I can't protect you against these three."
"No. I won't leave you here." Hinata told him. "I can at least keep one of them busy so that you aren't both overwhelmed."
"Do as I say Hinata, as your Jonin commander," Naruto told her.
"I'm sorry, but I can't," Hinata told him before sprinting towards Sasuke.
"Hinata NO! Naruto screamed as Orochimaru flashed next to her, his Kusanagi brandished to stab her. Before he could Jiraiya flashed next to her, shoving her out of the way, and taking the sword into his gut, he grimaced and coughed up more blood as he fell to his knees.
Sasuke and Kabuto had attacked Naruto, overwhelming him, he had to fight to survive, he wasn't able to save Jiraiya as Orochimaru cut clean through his neck. Jiraiya fell to the ground dead.
Hinata screamed in horror, as the man who had always been kind to her was killed in front of her. She lost her thought process as went to strike Orochimaru who had gone to fight Naruto as well. Sakura stopped her however by grabbing her throat and slamming her to the ground.
Hinata could do nothing as the men ganged up on Naruto, the three of them combined were too much for him, he kept up but soon fell to Orochimaru's blade as well.
Hinata screamed in terror as Kabuto walked over to her, he brandished her old collar and she screamed as he looped it around her neck. She had visions of everyone she loved on the ground dead in front of her. Kabuto latched the collar and she screamed as everything went dark.

Hinata sat bolt upright as she screamed in horror. She was lying on one of 2 beds in a dark room. Haku was sitting on the other, chatting with Zabuza, but looking just as unsettled as Hinata felt.
Tsunade approached her, "Hinata, everything is okay, calm down, you were in a genjutsu called failsafe. It is for training scenarios. It's designed to see how you handle the village being wiped out, how you fight. You failed."
Hinata nodded, "t-they're all dead, you died, Kakashi, Anko, Zabuza, Haku, Shikamaru, Jiraiya, Naruto, they all died, it was all my fault!" Tears were streaming down her face.
"Why am I like this? Why am I such a failure? Why can't I do anything right?" Hinata screamed into her hands. "Why Lady Tsunade!?"
Tsunade sat down next to her, "Hinata, you went through an ordeal, I know you want to prove yourself as strong, you want to prove to everyone you aren't worthless, and you are sick of being told what to do, you are sick of feeling controlled. However, we place genin with Jonin for a specific reason, those Jonin are experienced, and there to help you, to teach you, and to tell you how you are supposed to do things. When you are told by your Jonin commander something, it's with your best interest in mind. We all are here because we love you and want more than anything to succeed, but you have to follow your commander's lead or you will get people killed. Haku instructed you not to tell Kakashi about Anko, and you did, he died because of it. You disobeyed Jiraiya and he and Naruto died because of it. Your friends died because you couldn't follow an order. Naruto and Jiraiya can handle Sasuke, Kabuto, Orochimaru, and Sakura, you can't. They died and the village fell because no one else could fight them, you understand?"
Hinata looked at her with tears still streaming down her face, "I'm sorry Lady Tsunade, You're right, it was all my fault. She continued to cry.
Anko walked forward, "Hinata, your attitude has to change, you have to stop thinking everything is someone else's fault. You need to realize how you've been treating Naruto. Since you got back he has done everything for you. Yet you treated him like crap. You have to understand what you're doing to him."
Hinata thought about it all, "Why am I like this? Why have I driven him away? Why do I do this?"
Anko shrugged, "You can still fix it, he hasn't stopped loving you, he would go to the ends of the earth for you."
Hinata nodded sadly, and then Zabuza spoke up, "Listen, kid, you just watched everyone die. You watched all of your friends die. That could happen at any time, don't let your past control what's left of your future. We are all ninja, any one of us could die at any point, Haku was able to understand that, which is why he passed this test in my eyes. He was able to accept my death and move on. Knowing this, please, please take my advice and live every day like you and your loved ones are going to die the next. Also, get stronger, strong enough to protect them."
Hinata nodded, still breathing heavily, she couldn't get her pulse to slow down.
"Hinata, is your attitude going to change? Are you going to work to get better?" Tsunade asked her.
Hinata had a determined look on her face now, "Yes."
Hinata turned to the last man in the room, Inoichi, the man who had offered to help her already, she had not accepted, he had been here to oversee her mental health, and he had put her in the genjutsu she guessed, "Lord Inoichi, she started, "You offered me help earlier, is that offer still available, I clearly need help. Please help me to get over my past."
He nodded, "Of course, healing begins when you admit you have a problem and that you need help, you've started the first step." The man told her.
Hinata nodded her thanks and looked back to Tsunade as she began to speak again.
"Good, I'm glad to hear that you're seeking help, unfortunately, this doesn't change anything about your punishment., you're still on house arrest, and still on our difficult training regime. I'll have ANBU escort you home. Tomorrow our training will start at 5 AM, be ready for when the ANBU get there." Tsunade told her strictly.
Hinata nodded, "Yes Lady Tsunade." She stood slowly, her legs still felt like jelly as she slowly walked towards the door, she turned to the room when she got there, "Thank you all for giving me this chance to prove myself."
With that Hinata left and followed the ANBU to Naruto's house, she thanked them for bringing her and asked if they would like any tea while here. They shook their heads declining politely and disappeared.
Hinata looked up, instead of going to her old room as she had been, she walked upstairs and went into the room she shared with Naruto. She looked at the bed and saw a letter on her pillow. she opened it and saw that Naruto had left her a letter. Tears filled her eyes again and read it. The note read, "Hinata, I'm sorry about all of this, I feel I've failed you as your sensei, best friend, and betrothed. I love you more than anything and wish I was here right now. I need to find and save my mother, I have a chance and I need to take it. I'm not abandoning you, I will be back for you. I just don't know what to do right now. I'm so scared of you getting hurt. I'm sorry for everything. I left you a seal under this note, you can write to me and seal it in that seal, just like a storage seal, and I will get it. I can also write you back, when I send a note it will pop up wherever you leave this note. I was in a hurry to get back on the trail to find mom. I have a real chance here, so I have to take it. I love you, please write me and we can talk. If you choose not to write to me I understand and, I guess I'll know where you stand. Love Naruto."
The tears in her eyes had started to run down her face as her hand shook. Naruto did still love her, she had been too stubborn, hadn't even walked into their room.
She pulled out a paper, and started to write, "Naruto, I just got your letter, I just saw it. I had been avoiding our room because I was angry. I was so stupid Naruto, I'm so sorry for everything. I'm sorry I hurt you, I'm sorry I disobeyed you, I'm sorry for how I've been treating you lately. I understand if you don't want to continue being with me, but please give me another chance." She wrote then bit her lip, she wanted to tell him more, she started a new paragraph, "Since you left training has been hard. I went into it with a bad attitude, and Tsunade punished me for it, they all did. I've been on house arrest, and it has been terrible, its all my own fault though. Tsunade had Inoichi Yamanaka put me in a genjutsu called failsafe, everyone died and it was all my fault. It showed me how wrong I've been. I've asked Inoichi for help as he's a psychiatrist. I hope I can get better. I love you, and again I'm so sorry for everything." Hinata ended her letter and sent chakra into the seal on the next paper and it disappeared, transporting to Naruto.
She bit her lip and got ready for bed, the mental exhaustion hitting her as soon as her face hit the pillow and she fell asleep knowing she had to change.
Author's notes: Sorry to everyone for how long this took. I want to thank everyone that reads this and hope you enjoyed the end to the small arc. Hinata is finally going to get mental help, which she really needs. If you all go back a few chapters ago, I left hints that this couldn't actually be happening, Orochimaru was already dead after all
