Uzumaki Naruto Chronicles Rewrite

Chapter 140

Author's notes: Sorry it takes me so long to get chapters out these days. I love these stories, and I love reading all of your reviews!

Hinata sighed as she rolled from her side onto her back, her hair splaying out from under her head on her pillow. She thumped the bed with her left hand in frustration. She looked to her right at the clock on her bedside table. The clock read 4:00 am. She had yet to sleep a wink tonight, she was too excited. Naruto was supposed to be back that evening. It had been two months since she had found his note that he left on the bed for her. Her training had gone extremely well. Her senseis were tough but fair. She had grown considerably in strength, speed, and character.

Her thoughts were interrupted as her alarm went off, signaling that it was time for her to get up and start to get ready. She had training with Tsunade in 45 minutes. She pulled herself out of bed sighing, no sleep tonight, and very little last night. Ever since she had been taken she had trouble sleeping, but she usually managed a couple of hours a night, even if they often were filled with horrifying nightmares.

She had a full day today, training with Tsunade for the first three hours of the day, then a short break. After that, Anko was training her for a few hours, then lunch. Once she had scarfed down a quick lunch she would be training with Zabuza. It was a busy day, and normally by the time she finished, all she wanted to do was sleep. Tonight would be different though, for better or worse.

She had of course been corresponding with him while he was gone, but they hadn't talked about that last mission yet. She had no doubt he would still be somewhat mad at her, and she completely understood why he would be. She had not only disobeyed him, but he had also been injured because of it, and this wasn't the first time. She sighed as she thought back to when she had been lured out of his house to meet her sister, only to be ambushed by Hyugas activating her cursed seal. Naruto was almost killed and then arrested because of it.

She was beginning to get upset with herself, thinking about how worthless she was, how she only ever caused people trouble, then her training with Inoichi kicked in. , "NO!" she told herself, "You are not worthless. Just because you have failed, doesn't mean you're a failure!" She closed her eyes and took deep breaths, clearing her mind. She opened her eyes and thought about how loved she was. "I am a ninja, one of Lady Tsunade's trusted warriors. Trained by the strongest ninjas in the village because they believe in me. Now I need to return the favor and believe in myself." She opened her eyes and smiled, Inoichi's techniques were so helpful to her.

She was still anxious about tonight, but she felt better about herself, which was something she could control.

Her talk with Naruto was going to be tough, lots of things would be outside their control. She wasn't sure he would be able to continue having her as a student, even if he wanted her to be. She sighed, if they weren't on the same team, it would make their relationship incredibly difficult. They wouldn't be able to spend much time together, and their schedules would rarely match up as long as they were in the ninja corps. There was a lot riding on the next couple days.

She looked over at her clock, her eyes went wide, she had sat thinking for way too long! she jumped out of bed and started to get ready.

She rushed out the door right as Tsunade was walking up the walkway.

Tsunade grinned at her, "Good morning Hinata."

Hinata smiled at her and bowed, "Good morning Lady Tsunade. What do we have planned for today?"

Today will be a little different, "I'm afraid we won't be doing our normal training. Naruto contacted me, he will be coming in much earlier than we thought. They've expedited this last leg of the journey to get back to the village. Now I want to be honest with you, so here it is. It has not been decided what to do about the continuation of your training. Naruto and I will be discussing first thing when he gets back. Before that meeting, you will be taking a test, and then waiting."

Hinata nodded slowly, "May I ask what kind of test?"

"It will be a self-assessment, as well as a psychiatric test. I'm here to take you there now." Tsunade told her.

Hinata nodded, it was a stark reminder that she was still on house arrest. "Sorry, but...what happens if I fail the test?"

Tsunade sighed, she figured this was coming, "You leave the ninja corps."

Naruto appeared in the Hokage's office, with Kakashi and Jiraiya holding onto him, in a flash. He grinned as Tsunade scowled at him.

"What is the point of me having a door if you just let yourself in?" Tsunade asked.

Naruto shrugged, "Yeah, well the seal is in here, not behind the door." He grinned at her.

"Then put one there!" Tsunade told him.

"Eh, that sounds like way too much work, plus seeing your surprised face is one of the best parts of my day," Naruto told her grinning even wider.

Tsunade finally cracked a smile, "Welcome back you three. The village has been far too quiet since you all left."

Naruto nodded, "How has Hinata been?"

Tsunade waited for a moment, "She has had her ups and downs. She just finished a test, I'm waiting for Inoichi to come tell me his thoughts on her results. First, tell me what you've learned, I want a standard mission report."

Jiraiya took that chance to begin, "Orochimaru is supposedly dead. Take this with a grain of salt, Kakashi did kill him, but snakes always find a way back."

Tsunade held up her hand stopping Jiraiya, "Kakashi, how did you kill him?"

"I executed him by charging a lightning blade in my hand while holding his head. Short, sweet, blew his head up. He shouldn't be able to come back from it." Kakashi told her, deadly serious.

Tsunade nodded, "I somehow doubt the bastard is dead but well done."

"However, that also means that Kabuto has taken over Orochimaru's entire network. Orochimaru was sick, but Kabuto is a Sadistic fuck it's going to be different." Naruto spoke up.

Tsunade sighed, "That will complicate things. Go on, what else have you learned?"

"Sasuke has fled the nest, he is gathering some troops, getting ready to go after Itachi. He has taken Kushina with him as a healer. We can get her back when we get him." Jiraiya told her. "We searched all of Orochimaru's bases that Sasuke went to, they were all scorched. Not by Sasuke though." Kakashi spoke up after.

"It took us forever," Naruto added, "And it's good to be home. Sasuke evaded us the whole time, we never made it to a base in time to find him before he left."

Tsunade nodded, "You also noted that you did training while away from the Village, tell me about that."

Naruto nodded, "I asked Jiraiya and Kakashi to help me create a new jutsu. To add an element to my Rasengan."

"We knew it would be a tough feat as neither myself, Minata, or Jiraiya has found a way to do it," Kakashi told her.

"Well, were you successful?" Tsunade asked.

Naruto nodded, "I couldn't get lightning, fire, earth or water. I found a way to do wind, but it's too volatile to use. I have to be too close to use it. It expands and destroys my arm. Naruto then held out his right arm to show her. It was severely cut.

Tsunade took it and her hands lit up green as she traced his arm back and forth and her eyes widened with worry. "Naruto, I'm banning whatever jutsu that is. It cut up the outside of your arm, and that's fixable. However, it also cut the inside of your arm. I can't heal stuff like this. I cut you at a microscopic level, do this a couple more times, and you'll never be able to use your arm again." Tsunade warned him. She sighed, sitting back down in her chair and looking to Kakashi. "Anything else to report?"

Kakashi shook his head, "No, that's everything we have."

Tsunade nodded, "I expect a written report by the end of the week. From all of you. Kakashi, Jiraiya you two are dismissed, Naruto, we still need to talk."

Jiraiya and Kakashi disappeared out the window, giggling about Hotsprings after being gone for so long.

Naruto laughed about it before taking a serious face and looking back at Tsunade, she sighed.

"Naruto, we need to talk about Hinata. After you left her here, I know you didn't want her to be punished severely but I did what I thought was best for her. I didn't lock her up, caging her would have made everything worse. So we tested her with a worst-case scenario genjutsu. She failed miserably. There isn't a way to beat that particular genjutsu, not with so many of us layering it on her. Every mistake you make seems to make things worse. However, it was to test her loyalties, her mental state, everything. She couldn't follow basic orders, it wasn't until this test that we discovered just how bad off she was. It was certainly a failure on my point. I should have known she was doing so poorly. After the genjutsu things changed, she went from a terrible mood to a good mood every day for training. She faced trials and overcame them. She had hard times, but she moved passed them. She's been going to therapy with Inoichi, and things have changed for the better. "

There was a knock on her door and she stopped, "Come in. I'll let Inoichi tell you the test results."

Inoichi walked in and smiled at Naruto, "Naruto! Good to see you. Always a shame when you're gone from the village for so long. I remember just a few years ago how you used to liven up the village with your pranks. It's something that's been sorely missed."

Naruto grinned and shook the elder blonde's hand. "Inoichi, good to see you as well!"

"Inoichi, what can you tell us, how were the final tests."

"Right, so I hooked Hinata up to my lie detector and told her I would know if she was lying so to be completely truthful. That if she couldn't follow these directions she would fail the test immediately. I then gave her a self-assessment, with the standard genin test mixed in. I also tested her chakra levels and learned what jutsu she knew. Inoichi passed the test results to Tsunade. "She is still not as self-confident as she should be. She knows the shinobi arts far better than she gives herself honest credit for. While it's somewhat concerning, it is actually better than she was when she graduated from the academy first. She is ready once again for teammates. Even better news is the treatment of SGB or Stellate Ganglion Block has been working extremely well in blocking a lot of her PTSD for now. She still has nightmares of course, but this was never going to block those. Her overall anxiety has fallen tremendously. She has, in my opinion, earned her right to stay a genin. She tested the top percentile in the genin tests."

Tsunade smiled, "This is excellent news. Is that your recommendation then?"

Inoichi nodded, "I do recommend she retains her genin status. I would like to see her thrown into trying situations in training before she leaves the village again. I also recommend that she continues to see me, as a condition of her parole if you will."

Naruto glared at the man for using that wording, he didn't like Hinata being treated like a criminal of some kind.

"Yes, that does seem wise. Naruto, don't glare at the man, she is on parole to continue being a ninja, one misstep and she's out." Tsunade told him.

"Thank you Inoichi, you have been extremely helpful," Tsunade told him.

Inoichi bowed and took his leave, exiting through the door instead of the window like the previous two jonin to leave the room.

Tsunade turned to Naruto, "Please take a seat, we now need to discuss what to do with Hinata and continuing her training."

Naruto sat, and Tsunade poured herself, and him a glass of Sake. Naruto accepted it gratefully and looked at her intently, as she sat in the chair next to his spot on the couch.

"Now, Naruto after your quick briefing, it is clear that Kabuto has taken over Orochimaru's forces, based on what I've heard from other sources as well. This is terrible news, it makes it incredibly difficult to send Hinata outside of the village as we know it is her he is after." Tsunade told him.

Naruto nodded, he wasn't sure he wanted her leaving with Kabuto in the wind, and obviously doing everything he could to capture Hinata again. She was his sick fixation.

"That being said, she is a ninja, and she has signed up for danger. I have very little inclination to hold her back from that. She has every right to take missions, and her skills make her very desirable for all ranges of missions. We need to get her ready for him, her staying in the village won't make her any safer from him if he controls Orochimaru's army. She needs to grow. She will only grow by getting on a team and taking missions."

Naruto nodded, he was about to say something, when Tsunade continued, "All of that being said, I can't just send her out into the world to fight. I can't put her teammates in danger because of her. So Naruto, what do you suggest I do?"

Naruto was taken aback, his opinion on a matter like this usually wasn't asked. "I think you put her on a strong team, with a jonin sensei that can protect her and the team."

Tsunade nodded, "Not a bad idea, but who? It's obvious that with his new army Kabuto could overpower your typical jonin, and he can outnumber any one member strong enough to fight."

Naruto shook his head, "You're not accounting for how strong she is too. Konoha desperately needs more chunin to fight and take on higher level missions. Who are the strongest two genin currently in the field? We put them on a team with Hinata, bust their asses in team drills and get them as strong as possible as fast as possible and get them into the Chunin exams in two months. They pass and we have three more extremely powerful ninjas in the forces." Naruto told her.

Tsunade smiled at him, "Well done Naruto, but you're still missing a few things. They still need a jonin who can teach them, as well as defend them. They need a jonin who is cunning, willing to do everything in his/her power to save them should they be accosted."

"So you give Kakashi a new team," Naruto told her.

"No. Kakashi can't make up great distances in a second. He can't run if his team is surrounded. He can be outnumbered very easily." Tsunade told him, "No, you're to be the sensei of this team."

Naruto was shocked, "We've already been down this road Tsunade, I failed as her sensei."

Tsunade shook her head, "Hiashi agrees with me, you are the only person for the job. It will be different this time, you will have a full team."

"Who else is going to be on the team? I haven't looked at any of these Genin" Naruto told her.

"You know all three, your genin team will be Hinata, Konohamaru Sarutobi, and Hanabi Hyuuga. These are the three strongest Genin we have, I want you to make them a team. Get Hanabi and Hinata to have at bare minimum a working relationship, and train Konohamaru to be as incredible as the rest of the Sarutobi clan. All three have mission experience on a team. They were all assigned to a team months ago before you left. However, on a mission, Hanabi's team was attacked. Her jonin sensei was crippled and one of her teammates killed. So we are bringing you in as a jonin sensei, and splitting up a couple of teams. Hanabi's other teammate will take Konohamaru's place on Ebisu's team. Konohamaru and Hanabi will join your team with Hinata.

Naruto looked at her like she was crazy, "What? I have less than two months to make them a team? Hinata, and Hanabi? Not to mention Konohamaru is being split from his best friends and won't be happy about it.

Tsunade nodded, "Yes, you have your work cut out for you. I would start gathering information on your team now. Of course, you have access to their files. They will be meeting you tomorrow morning at 8 am."

Naruto nodded, took their files from Tsunade and turned to leave the office when Tsunade spoke up once again. "Naruto, I realize this isn't ideal for you. However, this is an extremely high profile team. Every single Hokage candidate has had a team like this. Your father had Kakashi, Obito, and Rin, an incredible team. Hiruzen had me, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru. I had your mother." Tsunade told them, "I need you to come through for me here. I need this team to be chunins by the end of the next chunin exams no matter what. It will free me up to send Hinata on bigger missions with you. A chunin can go on High A and S class missions, a genin cannot."

Naruto grinned, "They will be chunin in 2 months. Believe it." With that Naruto flashed away to his father's head. He landed and sat down. He needed a few moments to think and read through the files he had just been handed.

Hanabi Hyuga - Born to be a leader. A member of the Main Family. After her older sister was disowned by the family, she became the heir of the main branch. While very skilled, her family has given her a superiority complex. She is extremely arrogant. Any teacher will have a difficult time breaking her bad habits.

Naruto sighed, he already knew all of that about Hanabi. She was a spoilt little brat. However, she was quite talented. If he could get her to work with Hinata and Konohamaru, they could easily pass the chunin exams.

Next, he opened Konohamaru's file. He knew the kid was talented, many felt he was going to be a Hokage candidate someday.

Konohamaru Sarutobi - A talented upcoming genin. His skills demand respect, but his proclivity for pulling pranks leaves much to be desired with his work ethic. He was at the top of his class. Notable skills include multiple jutsu including shadow clones, as well as a weaker powered Rasengan. Shows great leadership abilities.

Naruto nodded that all matched up with what he knew about Konohamaru, and he didn't need to read Hinata's file, he already knew it by heart. He sighed this was going to be tough. He knew he could get Konohamaru and Hinata to get along, they already liked each other, but Hanabi was different. Maybe she and Konohamaru would get along if he was lucky. Hinata would most likely be pleased that she would get to spend time with her sister, but her sister wouldn't share that happiness.

Naruto wanted to speak to Hiashi, and then Hiruzen. He had questions he needed to answer. He stood up and started walking towards the Hyuga compound. He sighed, all he really wanted to do was go home and see Hinata, but instead he needed to do some recon.

Naruto arrived at the Compound and knocked on the gate. A Hyuga branch member opened an eye hole and asked, "What is your business here?"

"I must speak with Lord Hiashi," Naruto told him.

"Do you have an appointment?"

"No, it is a spur of the moment, please tell him I am out here," Naruto asked of the man.

The man nodded and left, going to tell Hiashi. Naruto didn't have to wait long for an elder Hyuga to open the eye hole this time, "What is this pertaining to Uzumaki?" He asked angrily.

"I am here to discuss Lord Hiashi's daughter with him," Naruto told him glaring, releasing a small amount of killer intent, daring the man to argue with him.

"Hinata is no longer a Hyuga." The man told him, "She was disowned."

"I'm here about the other daughter," Naruto told him, releasing a large amount of killer intent this time.

"What business do you have with the heiress? Come here to pollute another of our heiresses?" The man asked angrily, not flinching from the killer intent.

Naruto forced himself to calm down, "I have been assigned as Hanabi's new jonin instructor, and thus am forced here to do my due diligence. Trust me, I would rather not be here."

The man looked enraged, Naruto had just disrespected the Hyuga. "You will watch how you speak to me."

"No. I don't think I will. You know what else I think? I think you aren't going to do a damn thing about it." Naruto told him. Knowing damn well there was nothing that the man could do to him. "I am here on official business from the Hokage about one of her ninja. As her proxy, you are disrespecting her while you disrespect me. Now please Lord Hyuga, get Lord Hiashi for me. I assume he will not be happy about one of his clan members disrespecting a proxy of the Hokage, as well as a clan head." Naruto grinned, he was getting better at this political speak.

The elder glared at him, "Fine. I will be having words with the Hokage about you being chosen as the new teacher of the heiress. Why she would give you that honor, is beyond me." The man accentuated the you with disgust.

"Trust me, your flawed heiress isn't my first pick, it's not like I asked to deal with you," Naruto told him.

The man said nothing but walked away anyways. A few minutes later Hiashi appeared, "Lord Uzumaki, to what do I owe the pleasure?"

"Lord Hyuga, the pleasure is all mine, would you care to join me for dinner?" Naruto asked.

Hiashi looked at him carefully, "I would be honored. At your Estate, or should I have someone go ahead and make a reservation."

"I was thinking my Estate actually," Naruto told him.

"Excellent!" Hiashi said with a breath of excitement. He hadn't been able to see Hinata in quite a while now.

Naruto motioned for Hiashi to lead the way and then followed after him, keeping up with him step for step. He needed this moment to discuss with Hiashi his youngest daughter. "Lord Hiashi, I'm sure you've heard that I'm taking Hanabi on as a student."

"I recommended it. I want both of my daughters trained and protected by the strongest available ninja." Hiashi told him. "There is an ulterior motive as well. I would like my daughters to make up. This seems like a good start. If Hanabi can see how strong her sister is, well that could change things."

Naruto nodded, "I understand that but why under me?"

"Frankly, you don't care that she is the heiress to the Hyuga Clan, you won't pamper her as her last sensei did. She wasn't told no. She was bratty. It was an issue, and I know for a fact that you won't favor her, or treat her differently just because she is my daughter." Hiashi told him, I have proven correct in this assessment judging by how you talked to one of my clan's elders just now."

"He started it," Naruto said back in a lighter tone.

Hiashi nodded, "My fellow Main Branch members are not fond of you."

"No, they don't seem to be." Naruto told him, "If they were decent human beings we wouldn't have an issue."

"It isn't that they are bad people Naruto." Hiashi began, holding his hand to stop Naruto from interrupting him, "Very few people in this world are born bad. They are what they are made to be for the most part. My clan has been this way for a very long time. The men you call bad human beings were raised to be the way they are. Is it wrong? Yes, we think so. However, they were bred to be the way that they are, anything else is unacceptable. The reason Hanabi is so well-liked by all of the elders is she fits the mold. Hinata does not. It's unfortunate, Hinata was born as the heir, she was expected to be strong and uncaring."

Naruto nodded, "That's a different view on things. Hiashi, thank you. You are always so wise. You've given me a lot to think about."

Hiashi smiled, "It's my pleasure. I have enjoyed watching you mature, your father would be proud. I only wish it could be him teaching you instead of me."

Naruto nodded, "He gave up that right when he sacrificed himself for a village that hates his son."

Hiashi shook his head, "Naruto, you still have much to learn. The job of Hokage is so difficult because it was his job to do what he did."

"I understand that I do. However, I was still left without a father and mother." Naruto told him. "From what I've heard about him, he would have done that even if he hadn't been Hokage."

Hiashi nodded, "He would have given his life for this village. Just like you would."

Naruto nodded, "You're right. I still hold a grudge, however."

They had reached the door and Hinata opened it and beamed at them, "Naruto! Father! What a surprise! Father, what are you doing here?"

"Naruto invited me to dinner," Hiashi told her.

Hinata hugged her dad, and then turned and hugged Naruto. "Thank you for coming. I haven't seen either of you in so long!" Hinata turned and ushered them into the house. Naruto set clones to work making dinner and sat down at the table with Hiashi and Hinata. Hinata turned to him grinning, an actual smile. "Naruto! Can you tell us about your mission?"

Naruto shook his head, "Not much about it. I did some training and we looked for Kushina. We couldn't find her, however."

"What training did you do?" Hinata asked.

Naruto scratched the back of his head, "Just trying to add elements to my Rasengan. It sadly didn't work very well. I created an incredible jutsu, but it has been banned. It does too much damage to my arm."

"That's too bad," Hiashi told him

"What about Kushina, what are the leads? Did you find Orochimaru? You were so close." Hinata asked.

Naruto sighed, "Orochimaru is dead so we think. Kushina was taken by Sasuke, he is using her as a medic. I'm not sure how he is keeping her with him, but he found a way. We can also believe he isn't torturing her."

Hinata nodded, "Did you kill Kabuto?"

Naruto sighed and shook his head, "No. He wasn't there. I'm sorry."

Hinata bit her lip, but then she nodded, "It's okay. It is what it is. There isn't anything we can do about it again. Just...please get him next time." She asked of him.

"We will," Naruto told her.

Hiashi spoke up, "You've done well Naruto. Now Hinata, what about your time in these last few months? I was disappointed to know that you disobeyed orders in the field. As my daughter I expect you to do better."

Hinata nodded, "I'm sorry father. I have no excuses for what I put Naruto through. I was a fool."

Hiashi gave her a hard stare for a couple more seconds before nodding, "Good. Now, tell me, how was house arrest, and training with the Hokage, the Demon of the Mist, and Anko?"

"It was hard. They challenged me every single day, and I learned a lot. I didn't have a lot of fun, which is good because I didn't need fun. I needed this, and I think...sorry, I know that I got a lot stronger." Hinata told them.

Naruto nodded, "Good. I'm glad you got stronger. You're already incredibly strong."

Hinata smiled at him, "I've...also been going to therapy weekly with Lord Inoichi. He's helped a lot."

Naruto smiled and put a hand on her arm, "That's good. I'm happy for you."

Hinata placed a hand on his and truly smiled at him, "Thank you so much for everything that you've done for me."

Naruto nodded, "It's been my pleasure."

Hiashi smiled at the two, he was happy his daughter was finally moving on past the horrors she was put through. The food came out and the clones served them dinner.

"Hinata," Naruto spoke up, "One of the reasons I wanted to talk to your father tonight, was that you've been placed with a team."

Hinata gently placed her chopsticks down, and looked up at Naruto, "With you?"

Naruto nodded slowly, "Yes, you are one of my genin."

Hinata smiled, "I'm so glad I'm on your team. That's such a weight off my chest. Who are my other teammates?"

"One of them is Konohamaru," Naruto told her.

She smiled wide, "I like him! He's sweet." Hinata said happily, "Who else?"

"Your sister," Hiashi told her.

"W-What?" Hinata asked. Her smile dropping. She wasn't sure she wanted this.

Naruto nodded, "I've been assigned your sister as well."

"It's a good opportunity for the two of you to reconnect," Hiashi told Hinata.

Hinata nodded, she knew he was right. "Very well. Thank you both for this opportunity. I understand that you are both part of the reason I'm not in a prison cell again."

Hiashi shook his head, "I had nothing to do with it. You technically aren't connected to me anymore. This has everything to do with who Naruto holds favor with."

Naruto scratched his head, "No no. Tsunade likes Hinata. She doesn't like me all that much."

Hinata shook her head, "Thank you both, still."

Dinner had ended and everything was cleaned. Naruto had just gotten out of the shower and wrapped in a towel after a long day. He looked up as there was a knock on the door to the bedroom. He walked towards it and opened it. Hinata was on the other side wearing her nightclothes. She blushed seeing Naruto in a towel.

"Naruto I...I wanted to talk. A-About us." Hinata told him.

Naruto nodded, "Yeah, I suppose we do need to talk, don't we. He sat on the bed, "Do you mind if I sit for this?"

Hinata shook her head, "I-I don't know where to start. I...I'm sorry for everything."

"Thank you for the apology. I think I do know where to start. I love you, okay?" Naruto started.

Hinata nodded and bit her lip, "I'm sensing a but."

"There is a but. Hinata, I've thought a lot about this. As long as I'm your sensei, and leading a team with you on it, I don't think it's a good idea for us to be a couple." Naruto told her softly.

Hinata felt her nose start to burn, her eyes followed as tears pricked them. They built up, threatening to pour over. She sniffled and bit her lip harder. "I-I…" She couldn't continue to talk, it was just going to make her cry. The tears poured over anyways, as all kinds of doubt came into her mind. The self-doubt created a pit in the bottom of her stomach.

"I'm not saying I don't want to be with you Hinata. However, we weren't working together while in the field. I won't risk your life to continue to date while you are my genin, and we have two other teammates." Naruto told her sadly.

Hinata nodded but dropped her head, her hair falling over her face, "I...Naruto...I...Please."

Naruto sighed, "Hinata. I know this isn't what you wanted to hear, I do. It's only for a couple of months. At most. If you pass the chunin exams we can discuss being a couple and dating and everything like that. It's just while we are on this team with your sister and Konohamaru."

Hinata nodded and stood up, "I...I...I under...stand." Hinata told him, the tears still flowing. She walked out of the room.

"Hinata, wait, we can still talk. I know it didn't go as you planned, but...I still miss you." Naruto called out for her.

Hinata shook her head, ignoring him as she walked down the hall. Hinata got to her room, shut the door and Naruto sat on his bed. He sighed as he heard her start to sob.
