It was two hours later that Naruto got home. He walked in the door and called out for Hinata, "Hinata! Are you hungry?" Naruto called out.

Hinata stood from the couch and walked towards him, "Naruto, I'm right here."

Naruto raised an eyebrow, she didn't sound happy. "Oh, sorry!"

Hinata walked up to him, "Are you my friend right now, or my Sensei?" She asked him.

"Uh, your friend?" Naruto asked, not sure what was going on.

Hinata stood right in front of him, "Fine."

SLAP!

A loud clap rang out as Hinata slapped Naruto across the face, "HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO ME! EMBARRASS ME LIKE THAT IN FRONT OF LADY TSUNADE, LORD HIRUZEN, MY FATHER! AND YOU CHEATED TO DO IT! LISTENING IN ON OUR PLANS AND TELLING YOUR STUPID CLONE! I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME! IS THIS SOME KIND OF STUPID PUNISHMENT YOU CAME UP WITH FOR MY PAST FAILURES AND TRANSGRESSIONS AGAINST YOU?" Tears streamed down Hinata's face.

Naruto looked at her wide-eyed as he held his face where her hand had hit. His face stung a little, but his heart stung a lot more. He was speechless, he didn't know what to say. He didn't think she'd be this mad.

Hinata glared at him, "You have nothing to say for yourself?"

Naruto was about to reply when the doorbell rang. Hinata turned away and wiped her eyes on her sleeve. She walked to the door and opened it. She smiled as she saw Ino, she was here to pick her up.

Naruto raised an eyebrow, wondering what Ino was doing here. Then he noticed Hinata had changed, she was now wearing a loose purple sweater dress. It had a turtle neck and went down to her mid-thighs. She had shorts on beneath the dress but you couldn't see them. The dress was by no means tight on her, but it still accentuated her shapely curves, but in a classy way. Instead of her normal ninja sandals, she was wearing high heels which made her legs look even better. Naruto was confused, "Uh, Hina are you going out tonight?"

"Yes, I am. Is that a problem? Ino and I have been talking and we want to go out tonight since I'm finally off of house arrest." Hinata told him coldly.

"Oh, I uhm was thinking we could hang out tonight, it's been a few months after all," Naruto told her.

"It's the first night I can leave the house in months, and you want me to stay home and hang out with my sensei?" Hinata asked him coldly, emphasizing sensei.

Naruto was taken aback, "Oh." he said sadly, not having anything else to say.

Then Sai peeked his head in, "Naruto, we'd love you to come with us!"

Naruto lifted his head, "Oh! Yeah, that sounds fun, sure I'll go! Just let me change real quick."

"Just meet us there then, see you," Hinata told him.

Naruto stopped in his tracks but just nodded, "Oh, yeah, okay. See you guys there."

Ino, Sai, and Hinata turned and walked out the door. As soon as they were out, Ino smacked Sai's arm.

"Sai, what the hell!" She asked him angrily, "Can't you see Hinata is trying to get away from Naruto?"

Sai raised his eyebrow, "She was? I thought they liked each other. Aren't they best friends? A book I read said to always include friends in plans."

"Not when that friend upset a better friend you idiot!" Ino told him fiercely, "Hinata needed a night away from him. He really hurt her feelings yesterday and today."

"Ino, it's okay, Naruto can come. I just won't be talking to him much." Hinata told her.

Ino nodded smiling, "We can use this to our advantage. You can dance with other guys, flirt with them, make him jealous."

Hinata shook her head, "O-Oh, no, I don't think that is necessary. I'm mad at him, but that may be taking it too far."

Ino shook her head, "I don't think so, he broke up with you, he should be in the total doghouse. Make him see the mistake he made. Make him regret hurting you."

Hinata shook her head, "Ino, this breakup is only for the next couple months until I'm no longer on his genin squad. I know he hurt me, but hurting him more could make that so much worse. I don't want to cut the cord to any relationship I could have with him. He hurt me, but I still love him."

Ino sighed, "Oh you're no fun! We definitely shouldn't have invited him."

"Well, let's just invite other people as well. I'll invite Shikamaru and Temari is in the village right now, let's invite them. And Shino, and Choji!"

Ino nodded, and Hinata created 3 clones and sent them off to get their friends.

Naruto chose that time to appear next to them, he was wearing dark jeans and a light orange button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up to just below his elbows. The shirt was very well fitted. Hinata blushed as she caught him staring at her, "Naruto, please avert your eyes."

Naruto blushed, "Yeah, sorry about that. You uh, you look good tonight."

Hinata fought her blush, trying to seem like his compliments didn't matter to her, "Okay." She replied, shutting the conversation down. She turned away and began talking to Ino again.

Naruto sighed, he didn't like this, not one bit. To make everything worse, his cheek was still stinging slightly.

He walked behind the group feeling sufficiently left out. He was a last-minute invite and it showed. He wasn't wanted here.

The bad feeling only increased when they got to Chillz, the night club they had decided to start the night at. They arrived and found Shikamaru, Temari, Choji, and Shino there waiting for them.

Naruto frowned, Hinata and their whole friend group had planned to go out, and he hadn't been invited until the last minute. Plus, the only reason he had been invited was that he was at the door when Hinata was leaving. Sai had invited him out of pity, and then Hinata made it abundantly clear she didn't want him there. He sighed, at least Shikamaru was here, he wouldn't blow him off.

"Naruto! Good to see you, man." Shikamaru told him.

Naruto smiled and walked to him, they shook hands and turned it into a bro hug. "It's been too long. Everything is going well, I see.

"Yeah! How long have you been back in the village?" Shikamaru asked.

"I got back late yesterday," Naruto told him.

Shikamaru smiled, "First drink is on me then. You'll have to tell me about the search for your mom."

Naruto smiled as they walked in, he could always count on Shikamaru to be a bro. They were in the club earlier than most, so they had their pick of a spot to sit. They chose their own couches set up and they all sat down. Naruto sighed as he sat down, and Hinata was on the complete other side of the group, as far as she could be from him. He was next to Shikamaru however, and they were talking.

"So my mom is away from the snake at least. We tracked down Orochimaru's base where she was being held. Sasuke fought and beat Orochimaru pretty bad, when we got there he was barely alive, Kakashi got to kill him. Sasuke took my mother with him probably as a healer, but there is a chance he knows she is my mother and wants her as leverage when we go to get them."

Shikamaru grinned, 'I know it isn't what you wanted, but at least she is away from that snake. Sasuke is a piece of shit, but I don't think he would just hurt your mother for no good reason."

"You're right. I can't wait to finally find her and meet her. If I find out Sasuke hurt her, I don't know if I could stop myself from finally killing him." Naruto told his best friend.

Their conversation was paused by a waitress handing them all shots. They raised their glasses to each other and Ino raised a toast, "To the best of ninja, and better friends!"

They all cheered and toasted to that. They downed their shots, Naruto felt the burn in his throat and smiled, that wasn't very good alcohol.

Naruto watched as Hinata shook with a little distaste, the shot wasn't very good. Her eyes were screwed tightly shut as she shuddered. She opened her eyes and caught Naruto's. He smiled at her and stuck his tongue out shaking his head, trying to convey to her the shot was nasty. He expected a grin, maybe a giggle, but she shook her head and looked away from him, breaking their eye contact.

Naruto sighed, as she and Ino went out to the dance floor. All of his friends did, he was alone on the couch. He sighed as he stood up and went to the bar, he sat down at the bar and ordered a whiskey. Naruto sat down and looked over at Hinata, she was having fun dancing with Ino. Shikamaru was enjoying his time with Temari. Even Shino was enjoying himself, talking to a girl.

Naruto sighed looking back down at his drink when a girl slid into the seat next to him.

Naruto raised an eyebrow at her, "Hi there!" She told him with a bubbly personality."

"Uh hi?" Naruto asked.

"You're Naruto right?" She asked him.

Naruto nodded, "I am, and you are?"

"I'm Shizaku. I was in the academy in the year after you. I've heard all about your exploits after you won the chunin exams." She told him grinning.

"Oh? Naruto asked not quite sure what to say.

"I'm a huge fan! And it's really nice to meet you. Have you really fought multiple S Class criminals at the same time?" Shizaku asked him.

"Uh, yeah, I have, how did you hear about that?" Naruto asked her. That had been a classified mission.

"There are a lot of rumors like that going around about you. Everyone says you're one of Lady Tsunade's favorite ninjas, as well as one of the strongest ninja in the village. You're never around though. Just wait until my friends hear I met you! They'll be jealous!" She told him excitedly.

Naruto rubbed the back of his head in embarrassment, "Oh, thanks I guess?"

"So do you want to dance with me? You just seem kind of lonely and sad. I think we could have fun." She asked him kindly.

Naruto shook his head, "I'm not much of a dancer actually." He told her smiling.

She wrapped her arm around him, "That's okay! Come on!" She told him before leaning closer to him and whispering in his ear, " I can dance plenty well for the both of us."

Naruto had never been flirted with like this, out in public, he blushed and laughed, "I don't know."

"I can make it worth your while Naruto." She whispered into his ear seductively now. She thought he might be playing hard to get with her, she pushed her breasts up against his shoulder as she did.

"Woah...Uh...no thank you Shizaku. I appreciate your...enthusiasm but I'm not looking for that right now. I appreciate you being nice though. Why don't I buy you a drink."

Shizaku nodded, "Sorry if I was a little forward. I-I guess I'm a little nervous in front of a legend like you. Some of the things I've heard about how you used to be treated. I guess I just wanted to make sure you knew you weren't alone."

Naruto ordered her a drink, and turned back to her, "Don't be nervous. I'm not a legend, just a person. You're a comrade."

Shizaku nodded, "Okay!" She went right back to her bubbly personality."

"You were a year behind me at school, who did you have as your teacher your last year?" Naruto asked her making small talk.

"I had Iruka sensei my last year, just like you. He spoke very highly of you to our class. Always using you as an example of hard work paying off." Shizaku told him.

Naruto nodded, "He's a great teacher, even I learned a little bit from him. Who was your Jonin instructor?"

"Well I was with Chouza Akimichi, but almost a year and a half ago now I took the chunin exams, I placed third which was pretty good." She told him.

Naruto nodded, "Yeah! That's great. Chouza is a good man, I'm actually here with a group of friends, his son Choji is here as well. You must be pretty strong to place so well in the chunin exams!" Naruto was getting excited talking about ninja stuff. He always did with stuff like this. He loved learning about new comrades.

"Yeah! I saw him earlier and said hi. I didn't realize you were with a group of friends, I'm sorry! Why aren't you over there dancing with them?" She asked him curiously.

Naruto shrugged, "I'm not much of a dancer I guess."

…

Hinata was having a good time. She and Ino were laughing as they danced together. Sai had begun to dance with Ino, so she had a dance with Choji as a friend, he was extremely sweet. She had noticed that Naruto wasn't with them and a few minutes later he still hadn't joined him. She felt bad, she didn't mean for him to feel left out. She just wanted to hang out with Ino, and get away for a few minutes. She turned and sighed. What she saw angered her, Naruto was being hugged by some girl she had never seen before, another ninja. She was pressing her chest into Naruto's back, he was blushing and smiling at her. He had broken up with her yesterday, put them on a break, whatever it was but here he was flirting with another girl.

Her heart hurt. She felt an emptiness, but a pressure at the same time in the pit of her stomach. Naruto blushing and smiling like that, this was a new pain she was feeling.

She frowned, she stopped dancing, she was frozen. Ino saw her friend had stopped, she put a hand on her shoulder and told pulled her away towards the bathroom.

"...Hinata, Hinata?" Hinata finally heard her name being called. She shook her head, she was in the bathroom with Ino.

"Ino, sorry, what happened?" Hinata asked, confused.

"You went into shock seeing that girl all over Naruto. You started to cry, but wouldn't move, and wouldn't say anything, so I brought you here." Ino explained to her.

"Why was he flirting with her, letting her hug him like that? He said he still loved me, he said that we were going to get back together as soon as we weren't teacher and student." Hinata told her softly, tears rolling down her cheek as her heart hurt. She felt like she just couldn't catch a break.

"Hinata, I'm sure it isn't what it seems. I'm sure he isn't moving on from you." Ino told her comfortingly. In her head, she was thinking, "That bastard! How dare he! HE WILL PAY!"

"It all makes sense now though, he wants to see other people." Hinata told her, "What I did on that last mission was the straw that broke the camel's back."

Ino shook her head, "Hinata, I'm sure that isn't it. Come on, why don't we go back out there and talk to him. Figure out what's going on."

Hinata shook her head, "I don't want to talk to him right now. He wants to be with someone else fine. He can be with whoever he wants." Hinata's voice had gone cold and emotionless as she said, it was as if something had broken in her. "Just let me freshen up and we can go."

Ino shook her head, "You're not worthless, and fuck him for making you feel that way. Ino told her, hugging her friend, "Anyone would be lucky to have you! He doesn't know what he's missing."

Hinata's jaw dropped, she had forgotten everything Inoichi had told her, all of her training. Naruto had too large a hold on her emotions. She went through her inner mantra, reminding herself that she had worth. Her heart still hurt but she was fine. She smiled at Ino, "You're right Ino. Thank you!" She wiped her eyes and walked over to the sink, splashing her face, and wiping it off, wiping off all of the makeup that had started to run and reapplied it.

Ino looked at her shocked, Hinata was finally getting better. She thought her friend was going to go through a major set back here, but instead, she was tossing it aside. Ino smiled, now it was going to be time to get back at Naruto, he had really hurt Hinata.

Hinata and Ino walked out of the bathroom, and Ino was already plotting revenge, "Hinata, why don't we find you a nice hunk to dance with?"

Hinata shook her head, "No thank you Ino. I'm not ready for anything like that. I just want to sit with you guys and have fun."

Ino frowned, "Oh fine!"

…

"Naruto, I have a request, now that I've gotten to know you, and you, me," Shizaku told him, "If you could help me out I would really appreciate it."

Naruto raised an eyebrow, "What is it?"

"I'm trying to become a jonin, however as you know it requires a certain amount of B rank, A rank and S rank missions to even be considered for the promotion. I don't have a lot of ninja who goes on those A and S ranks in my corner. I just hoped that you could request me for some missions that come your way. You have more S rank missions under your belt in the last 3 years than anyone else in the village. Tsunade sees you as one of her most trusted ninja. If I could just get a couple S ranks under my belt I could be picked more for those missions I could meet other ninja and make my way up the ranks. I'm not from a clan, nor a prestigious ninja family, my parents are civilians. Nobody knows who I am, so leading jonin won't pick me. I'm just trying to make a name for myself."

Naruto got very serious in that moment. "A ninja team is made up specifically for their skills. If you don't match up with my team for the mission, I won't be requesting you. Our comrades come before me doing you a favor."

The younger kunoichi nodded, "Of course. I just want to help my village. I think my skills will help teams on these harder missions, but I can't get on them. I want my skills to be used more effectively than B and C rank missions. I can fight."

Naruto nodded, "Let me do my due diligence, let's meet tomorrow afternoon at Ichirakus. Does 1:30 PM work for you? I'll discuss with you then what I find out."

Shizaku squealed in delight, "YES! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She hugged him tightly.

Naruto nodded, "Hopefully I can help you out. If I like what I see, I'll send it to Shikamaru as well. He goes on a lot of high-level missions as well."

Shizaku nodded, "Thank you so much!"

Naruto nodded and smiled at her, "Of course, enjoy the rest of your night!" He told her as she walked away.

Naruto then turned and looked over to his friends, they were no longer on the dance floor but were instead on the couches again, all talking and laughing. Hinata was deep in a conversation with a male ninja Naruto didn't know. They didn't look like they were being overly friendly, so he didn't want to interrupt them and seem overprotective. Hinata had already made it clear that she didn't want him here tonight. He sighed, the whole group was having plenty of fun without him. This wasn't his scene anyways. He paid for his tab, flashed out of the club and to his house.

Naruto yawned and decided it was best that he go ahead and turn in for the night, no use staying up and waiting for Hinata to come home, she wouldn't want to spend any time with him anyways."

…

Hinata looked over to the bar to see Naruto was gone, she scanned the club and noticed the kunoichi he was talking to earlier was also gone. She frowned, had Naruto gone home with her? She shook her head, no he wouldn't do that to her, would he?

He didn't even tell her goodbye. Maybe she had been too cruel earlier. She had been pretty mean to him earlier that night. Telling him she didn't want to hang out with her teacher. He was still her friend, but sometimes she wanted time with other friends, plus he had hurt her, though she knew it wasn't on purpose. He was trying to do what was best for everyone involved. He had a team now, not just her. She had shown him that she couldn't be trusted to be involved while he was teaching her. She was pulled out of her thoughts when the man that had been talking to her earlier moved back in front of her vision.

"Would you like a drink?" The man asked.

Hinata stared at him for a second, "Um, sure.

"Well, what drink can I buy for you?" The man asked her.

Hinata shrugged, "I'm not a big drinker usually. Sake I guess."

He shook his head, "Just Sake is a little weak, how about a sake bomb?"

Hinata started to get a bad feeling about him, "No. Just Sake is fine."

The man sighed but nodded, "Fine, Sake it is babe."

Hinata grimaced, "Don't call me that. You know what, I'm fine, no drink for me. Have a nice night." Hinata turned from him.

He paused and turned back to her, "Hey hey hey." He said, moving back in front of her, cutting her off from her friends, "I didn't know it was such a touchy name, I use it again Hinata. I'm just trying to talk to you, get to know you."

Hinata sighed, "Fine." She really just wanted him to leave her alone.

The man went up to the bar, ordering Sake for Hinata. While she was looking he muttered angrily, "Stupid bitch, I'm just trying to make sure she has a good time, and she is treating me like shit and won't even focus on our conversation. Maybe if I just slip something in her drink, she'll loosen up. I'm just trying to help her enjoy the night." He told himself slipping a few pills into the cup of Sake he got for Hinata.

He walked back over and handed the cup to Hinata, "Heres your Sake." He told her smiling. Hinata took it and smiled back at him, "Thank you!" she told him happily taking the cup. She pounded it back shooting the warm liquid. She grimaced and smiled at him, "Thank you! That was delicious."

He nodded, "Would you like to dance?"

She shook her head, "No thank you, not right now. I came out with my friends and I would like to spend some time with them, you can join us, however."

The man sighed, he would need the drugs to kick in before she would be any fun, but who knew if everything went perfectly he could have his way with her in the bathroom.

He followed her to their table and sat there. She was still showing no interest in him, she would chat with him when he asked her questions but nothing more. The drug he had slipped her wasn't helping either, she wasn't getting any looser. He took his chance one more time, "Hinata, do you want to go dance with me?" He asked her. If he could just get her on the dance floor the drugs which were activating her hormones should make her puddy in his hands. He just needed a sensual dance with her, and he would have his way with her.

"No thank you, I'm actually not feeling very well. I think I need to go home." She told them all.

The man smirked, "I can take you home!"

Ino stood up, "No, we'll take her, we all came together, so we should all go together."

Hinata nodded, "Thank you Ken, but we will be alright."

Ken cursed as they walked away, an entire evening of effort wasted, he might as well pack it in, there was no way he was getting any tonight. Damn pills must have been duds.

Hinata stumbled into the Namikaze estates, she had left her friends at the gate and barely got inside before she started to collapse. She stumbled her way all the way to the stairs, she fell to the ground groaning in pain she slowly made her way up the stairs using the handrail to make her way up the stairs. She finally fell on her bed clutching at her abdomen. "My…stomach." She groaned out before finally passing out.
