My stomach growls.

I laugh. "Like I was going to say, first things first."

"And that would be?"

"Pizza and Bagels on 3rd."

He raises his eyebrows."3rd?" He points out a street sign. "That says 20th street."

I swallow my laughter. "Yes, Jason, I know. You're a tourist so you don't know from nothing. Trust me, we're in the right place. Now, come on. We need to find 129 so we can go nosh."

"Nosh?"

I facepalm. "Oy."

I take him by the hand and drag him. "Outta my way, I'm guiding a tourist!"

Soon, we arrive there.

The owner smiles. "Well, look who's here. Blueberry okay with your tourist?"

"My names Jason and, yeah, blueberry's fine."

"Coming right up, Heath bar."

I roll my eyes. "Ya mook. I'm using Phoenix now."

"Phoenix? I like it. 2 blue for Phoenix."

He hands them over.

I pull out my wallet, grab my money, slap it down on the counter, then inhale my bagel.

Jason's eyes widen. "Geez, Nyx, this is good."

I finish and nod.

"You two headed to the Farm later?"

I grin. "Yeah, I'mma treat Jason here to an egg cream."

"Show him how to drink those suckers right, you get me?"

I give him a fist bump. "Count on it!"

"Attagirl!"

I grin and, after heading into an alley, port close by Henry Street.

"What's an egg cream?"

I roll my eyes then smile. "Quickest way to get a moo-stache. Just follow me, okay. I'm not gonna guide you wrong."

He smiles. "You're the local."

"Damn straight."

We head to 513 and, on seeing me, the owner smiles. "Smitty girl, you brought in a tourist!"

He laughs. "I just won a bet."

He fixes two egg creams. "On the house."

I raise my glass to him then, after guzzling the contents, slam down the glass and burp like a trucker. "See, Jason? Moo-stache."

He laughs. "All right then."

He does what I just did then licks his lips. "So an egg cream is fizzy chocolate milk?"

I lick my lips then roll my eyes and, in unison with everyone at the bar, tell him "You don't know from nothing!"

"I can tell that means I'm clueless."

The owner joins in my sarcastic clapping with everyone at the bar.

He laughs. "God, Brooklyn's a great place."

My smile widens. "How sweet it is."

Soon, I'm getting some flowers for Ben-Jacks. If you really wanna know, they're daffodils (his favorite) with heather mixed in.

Now, do I really need to explain the heather? Don't think so.

Shortly, I'm at the tombstone for, well, you really should know whose it is.

I set the flowers down then breathe out slowly. "Hey, Ben-Jacks, it's me Jane, remember?"

I wipe my eyes. "Well, I brought Jason with me. He's my new brother and the guy who suggested I come here."

My voice softens. "I'm sorry I took so long."

I wipe my eyes again. "I just wasn't ready to say Goodbye. Still don't wanna say it, to be honest. I have a song for you instead."

I modify, well, you probably guessed it, Breaking Benjamin's Diary of Jane. I finish by saying that I hope he found his place in the diary of Jane then wipe my eyes. "Keep a look out for me, Ben-Jacks, like how I did for you."

I leave the cemetery then look around, not really sure where to go.

Wait a minute. That couple looks kinda familiar.

Oh, shit. I know who they are.

"Jason, we need to run. It's the Pierces!"

His eyes widen. "What the fuck are they doing here?"

"Damn it, right now, that's really fucking far from important!"

I start running but, fuck, I can tell that they've noticed me. Can't let them take me. Won't let them take me.

Shit, how did they get so fast? Move faster. You know Brooklyn, Phoenix, you can get away.

No, I can't. He's got me.

As for Jason, I pushed him away, saving him in the only way I could.

That's pretty much the only thing I remember before William putting a funny smelling washcloth over my mouth and nose.

Before my world went black, I did hear him saying that he'd got me now and Ashley's cruel, almost cold sounding, laughter.

Jason's P.O.V
_

I find myself clenching my fists because fuck, no, those bastards have my little sister.

I narrow my eyes then decide to call in Dick and Tim.

Hang on Phoenix, your big brothers will be on their way. After all, there's no way in hell they're getting away with you that easy.

Dick told me that your big sister's tracking you using the technology in your cell phone.

So please, Nyx, just hang on. Like I said, your big brothers are on the way to teach the Pierces a lesson that's actually pretty simple.

I crack my knuckles then smack my right fist into my left palm, eager to teach William and Ashley their lesson. Eager to let you, Nyx, know it too.

A shit-eating grin spreads across my face.

I can hardly wait to teach those assholes they fucked with the wrong family.
