Here's the next chapter! Hope you all enjoy!
The last battle of the day was between Fairy Tail's Wendy and Lamia Scale's Sherria. As Sherria stepped out into the arena, she tripped over nothing and fell face first to the ground. The audience laughed at her expense and Zale and Flynn looked at her with raised eyebrows.
"She's a bit of a klutz, isn't she?" Zale muttered loudly.
"Is Lamia Scale serious having her on their team?" Flynn questioned.
Down in the arena, Wendy started walking toward Sherria.
"U-um… Are you all right?" Wendy asked the other girl.
Suddenly, Wendy also tripped and fell on her face, causing the crowd to laugh even harder and louder than before.
"L-let's have a good battle, okay?" Wendy laughed off her little trip.
"Sure!" Sherria replied to Wendy. "I hope so, too!"
"It seems like it's going to be a battle of cuteness!" Chapati proclaimed gleefully. "And I'm gonna root for 'em both!"
"Did you just change charactersh?" Yajima asked his fellow commentator.
"You can do it, Wendy!" Zale said. "Time to show them the fruits of your training!"
"LET THE BATTLE BEGIN!" Chapati practically yelled through his mike.
"Here I come!" Wendy readied a fighting stance.
"Right!" Sherria smirked back.
Wendy straightened her arms out. "Arms! Vernier! Enchant!"
"Wendy's not wasting any time!" Zale examined the fight. "Giving herself buffs right out of the gate."
"Sky Dragon Wing Attack!"
With a swift motion of her arms, several streams of wind zoomed all around Sherria and she flipped to dodge them without a single misstep.
"She dodged it?!" Wendy exclaimed in surprise.
"Sky God…" Black wind began to swirl around Sherria's right hand before she threw it at Wendy. "BOREAS!"
Swirls of black wind burst toward Wendy and she had to jump to avoid the attack.
"Sky God-!" Zale gasped in surprise. "Then she's-"
Apparently, the Magic Council gave our family's magic to a young girl in Lamia Scale. The words of Soren's father echoed in Zale's head.
*That must be her!* Zale thought.
Sherria zoomed toward Wendy until she was right next to her and summoned another spiral of black wind around her aimed upward, sending Wendy flying into the air.
"Sky God Dance!"
While Wendy was still flying, Sherria jumped up for a follow-up attack.
"Not done yet!" Sherria said.
However, clear winds were circling around Wendy's limbs.
"Sky Dragon Claw!"
Wendy flipped around and kicked Sherria back toward the ground. Both girls recovered as soon as they hit the ground and breathed in.
"Sky Dragon…"
"Sky God…"
"ROAR!"
"BELLOW!"
White and black winds were fired from the girls' mouths and the strong gusts could be felt around all of Domus Flau, it even blew off Chapati's toupee.
In the crowd, Soren looked toward his father to see that he had to shield his eyes from the wind. While he wasn't looking, Soren got up and walked off as best as he could with all of the bluster pushing against him.
"It's like she's using a fusion of yours and Wendy's magic, Zale!" Callista said.
"She's no slouch, that's for sure." Zale stated. "It's no wonder Lamia Scale chose to add her to their team."
"After seeing that, I take back what I said before the match." Flynn said.
When everyone could see again, Sherria was standing without a single scratch on her whereas Wendy was on her hands and knees, struggling to get up. Wendy already had a few scrapes and the sleeves of her shirt were completely torn and tattered.
"Wh-what is this?!" Chapati was practically lying on the commentators' table, incredibly excited and oblivious to his now exposed head. "They may look as cute as buttons, but they're both amazingly powerful wizards!"
"Get your rump out of my facshe!" Yajima looked at Chapati with an angry eye.
"Um, Mr. Lola, your toupee…" Lahar spoke to point out.
"She uses the same magic as Mr. Zale…" Wendy mumbled to herself.
"I heard from Lyon that there was a wizard in Fairy Tail that also uses wind magic." Sherria said. "Maybe I overdid it a bit. Sorry. Are you hurt?"
Wendy was able to stand back up, despite her injuries. "I'm fine! This IS a fight, after all."
"Since we're here, let's have a lot of fun! Hm?" Sherria gave Wendy an innocent smile.
"I…" Wendy was wincing in pain. "Don't really know… what it is to have fun in a battle, but… this is for my guild, so I'm going to do everything I can!"
Black winds began to swirl around each of Sherria's hands.
"Yeah." Sherria said. "I think that'll do fine. I'm giving my all for the guild and for Love!"
A twister of black wind came from underneath Wendy and she was knocked back screaming.
"So they both use the same kind of wind magic, but Shelly-Welly's is maybe one rank above?" Chapati guessed.
"'Shky Magic' to be exact." Yajima stated.
"'Shelly-Welly'?!" Lahar quietly questioned Chapati's strange nickname.
"Wendy doesn't stand a chance against her!" Flynn exclaimed.
"Sherria seems to have the upper hand right now, but don't count Wendy out!" Zale said.
After gritting her teeth, Wendy got her feet to the ground and endured the rest of Sherria's attack. Once the attack died down, Wendy took a slow, deep breath and it felt like she was sucking the air around her into her mouth.
"I knew it!" Sherria exclaimed. "You 'eat air', don't you?! Then I'll have some, too!"
Sherria mimicked Wendy and began inhaling fresh air.
Flynn then coughed dryly. "Is it just me or is the air getting thinner?"
"Much like how I 'eat' water to replenish my magic, Wendy and Sherria are 'eating' air to do the same." Zale stated.
"Dragon Slayer Secret Art!" Wendy spread her arms out when she finished taking in the air.
"What… is this?!" Sherria gasped.
"Shattering…"
A whirlwind had surrounded both Wendy and Sherria, creating a barrier that kept either of them from getting out.
"SKY DRILL!"
A powerful blast of white wind was blown at Sherria, sending the girl skidding across the ground. Wendy was panting heavily while Sherria wasn't moving an inch. The young Dragon Slayer was wobbling, but was still able to stand up. After a few more seconds, Sherria still had yet to get back up.
"Sherria is down!" Chapati shouted.
Wendy was smiling with joy.
"Ahh… Sorry! Wait a minute!"
Wendy's eyes widened from the sight in front of her.
"This match is just getting started!"
Sherria was standing back up, but the strange thing was that despite her clothes being tattered on her left side, there were no visible injuries.
"Phew!" Sherria smiled cheerfully. "I figured you were good, Wendy, but wow!"
"What the hell?!" Zale exclaimed. "Even if she could resist Wendy's spell, there's no way she should've come out of that without a dozen scratches!" *Hold on! Are these the healing properties of Sky God Slayer Magic Mr. Blake mentioned? This fight's suddenly become a war of attrition!*
Wendy was still having a hard time keeping herself standing.
"Are you all right?" Sherria asked Wendy. "I don't suppose you want to surrender, do you?"
"The blue girl doesn't look good…" Amber said.
"Wendy looks like she's going to faint at any moment." Flynn said.
"I… can't say that I dislike fighting…" Sherria said. "But I don't think a one-sided battle that accomplishes nothing more than violence is what I'd call Love." Her smile went away and she tilted her head to the side a little. "So I really wouldn't mind if you quit. You know?"
"Urgh…" Wendy groaned in pain. "I can't." Her body stopped wobbling and her dizziness faded. "The fact that I can stand here at all… means that I'm ready to give it my all for my guild! I don't need your mercy! So come at me and beat me down until I can't even lift my finger! Please!"
Wendy's show of pride took Sherria by surprise a bit, but then she smiled with her fists on her hips.
"Sure!" Sherria nodded to Wendy's plea. "I mean, anything else wouldn't be polite, right?"
"Right!" Wendy replied resolutely.
"Then…" Sherria began to call forth swirling black winds around her hands. "This time, I'm going to show you one of my strongest attacks! I'll make it easy for you to give up! Get ready!"
Sherria raised the winds above her head, creating feather-like shaped winds from her arms.
"God Slayer Secret Art!"
"She knows a secret art?!" Zale exclaimed. "If this hits, Wendy's done!"
"Heavenly Gathering of Clouds!"
Sherria sent the winds in the form of wings toward Wendy, but they flew right above Wendy and didn't even scrape by her.
"Did Wendy dodge it?!" Romeo asked.
"No, Sherria missed!" Makarov answered.
"If Wendy's Sky Magic allows her to restore the stamina of others…" Zale analyzed what had just happened. "She restored Sherria's strength so that her next attack would be likely to miss."
Flynn and Callista tried to process what Zale had just described, but they ended up getting headaches as a result and clutched their heads.
"I don't get it!" Both Flynn and Callista groaned.
"I don't blame you for being confused. It took longer for me to figure it out, too." Zale said.
"We get it! You're smart! Stop rubbing it in!" Callista growled at Zale.
"Sorry." Zale nervously chuckled before looking back at the fight. "That was a foolish strategy, Wendy. If things didn't work out like they did, Sherria would have won."
Wendy and Sherria resumed their battle with close range, wind-enhanced strikes.
"What an amazing turn of events!" Chapati exclaimed. "Neither one is backing down! Tiny fists, bashing into each other! Is that tenacity all for the sake of their guilds?!"
The battle had practically turned into a slugfest with seemingly no end in sight… until…
"And… TIME IS UP!"
Both Wendy and Sherria were sweaty, bruised and exhausted, but neither one had fallen over.
"THE MATCH IS OVER!" Chapati screamed into his microphone. "IT ENDS IN A DRAW!"
"Phew…" Zale sighed with relief and wiped the sweat from his forehead. "That was starting to get hard to watch…"
Wendy's legs eventually gave out and fell to the ground sitting.
"Did it hurt?" Sherria asked Wendy in concern. "I'm sorry!"
"I'm all right…" Wendy answered between breaths. "You're always asking that, huh?"
"Heh." Sherria gave Wendy a smile and a wink.
"Ah ha ha…" Wendy chuckled a bit.
Sherria knelt down and placed her hands in front of Wendy's chest, creating an orb of light that started to heal her wounds.
"That was fun, Wendy!" Sherria said.
"I-it was even a little fun for me, too." Wendy admitted.
"Say, Wendy, let's be friends!" Sherria suggested.
"I-it's okay with me… but are you sure you want a friend like me?"
"Wrong answer! Answer like a FRIEND would!"
Wendy looked at Sherria in slight confusion as the God Slayer smiled cheerfully with her hand held out.
"Let's be friends… Wendy!"
Wendy smiled and shook Sherria's hand. "Yeah, let's! Sherria!"
"What a moving final scene!" Chapati sounded like he was about to cry. "Game over for this old guy! And that ends the Grand Magic Games!"
"No it doeshn't!" Yajima pointed out. "Thish jusht endsh day three!"
Suddenly, a powerful force pushed the two girls away from each other and a tiny black whirlwind appeared in the arena between them.
"Wh-what's going on?!" Wendy exclaimed.
*More black wind?* Zale thought. *If that's not Sherria's doing…*
"You have something that belongs to me!" A distorted voice came from the whirlwind.
Sam looked in the seat next to him and saw that his son was no longer there.
"He didn't!" Sam gasped.
"Who are you?!" Sherria asked the voice in the wind.
Suddenly, Wendy caught a familiar scent.
"Wait… I know this smell…" Wendy mumbled before looking at the whirlwind again.
The whirlwind died down to reveal a young boy standing between Wendy and Sherria.
"You?!" Sherria exclaimed.
"Soren?!" Wendy gasped at the same time.
A/N: Woo, boy! I had to power through my usual bedtime to get this chapter finished! Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed! Stay tuned for next time!
