CHAPTER 28: THE BIRTH AND THE DECISION...
CALLIE...
7 PM
DECEMBER 10th...
THE HOSPITAL...
I was in the kitchen just an hour ago and my water had broken, now I was in the hospital trying to hold still while the doctor gave me an epidural in my back.
D.J. is holding my hand my mom stood nearby.
My dad, Uncle G., Uncle Sam, Dani and D.J.'s parents were in the waiting room.
All night they turned me from one side to the other and back again. I also remember sitting up and getting sick.
Then finally...
6:27 AM
"I need you to push." The doctor told me. "I can't..." I panted in exhaustion as my mom stood on one side of me and D.J. on the other. "Yes, you can." My doctor replied as I gave one final push bringing my baby into the world.
"Is my baby okay?" I asked as they cleaned her up. "Sh...she's perfect." D.J. said in amazment with a smile
Then she was brought to me and laid on me, so her skin touched mine. I looked at her and then at D.J.
"I...I don't think I can give her up." I said with tears in my eyes. "I was thinking the same thing for the past few months." D.J. admitted. "What are we going to name her?" I asked looking in amazement at our baby girl.
"Alexandra?" D.J. suggested. "How about Alexandra Grace Deeks?" I suggested. "I like that. Hello, Alexandra Grace Deeks." D.J. whispered to our baby girl. "Ally for short." I told him.
I saw my mom walk out of the room and knew she was going to tell the rest of the family.
At 7:30 the doctor gave Ally her first bath, which Ally was unhappy about and then they took her off to the nursery. While Ally was in the nursery I was able to get up and go take a shower.
A little while later Ally was brought back to us and a picture was taken of me, Ally and D.J. Then one of just Ally by herself.
Everyone came into meet Ally, but left once I started to fall asleep.
