Hi I'm so sorry this chapter is beyond late, it's been months. All I can say is kol and my oc Evelyn relationship is totally original. So it's been harder to write in a timely life in general . I wanted it to be organic to Kol's character. The relationship will have its own pace.

A Chapter 8: loyalties and motels.

Part one.

Matt honked loudly and drove away as I stumbled looking for my keys. If my hangover wasn't bad enough,it was about to get worse as bonnie opened the door. I wasn't really surprised by her highly annoyed look.

" What the hell Evelyn, you never came home last night?." she questioned making my head throb.

"I had to drive matt home after a certain mikaelson broke his hand." I answered walking passed her .

" Are you skipping the part where you drank yourself to sleep." she called as I walked to the stairs.

"Oh bonnie take the stick outta your ass! " I yelled but she looked a little more embarrassed than usual.

"Hey what's going on out here. Evelyn where were you?. " abby question coming from the living room.

" Oh look abby! You do know how to be a mother!. I said rudely but I didn't have time to regret my words. Bonnie was ready to say something probably just as hurtful but was interrupted by the last person I wanted in my house.

" Abby ,bonnie I must be going I hope I can still count on you." esther spoke to them as she left completely ignoring me. Then abby disappeared into kitchen.

" What the hell was she doing here?." I pressed not wasting anytime.

" Why do you care?. Maybe if you stop going to parties and drinking until you pass out you would realize who the real enemy is !" bonnie shouted.

"Maybe you should be more afraid of the person who created the monster and not the monster itself." I told her going up stairs other my room. I changed as quickly as possible and got in bed.

"There's no time to change your mind, Elena. He'll be dead by the end of the night." bonnie answered truthfully.

"What?" elena said feeling rush in the matter at hand.

"It's a full moon. Esther needs to harness the energy of a celestial event. She asked me and Abby to join her."

" What about Evelyn? " caroline asked concerned.

"What about her, she should be on our as a plan to keep her out of our way until the spell is done." bonnie tried to convince her friends but they didn't look to sure. " Look by tomorrow the originals will be and we can go back to our old lives."

"okay " they chimed together.

Evelyn tried her best to take an actual nap but too much was going on in her head. It was just the fun she had with kol but the fact he carelessly ruined it. And yes it reminded her of someone in particular. It was also her getting drunk with matt. Of course she bandage his hand before they started. She laid on her side looking out the window she heard her door open slightly. Evelyn turned not really wanting company the abby looked like she wasn't leaving anytime soon.

" I come in peace " Abby joked hoping to lighten the the mood holding a mug.

' Ok " Evelyn answered agitated.

"I figured you had a long night and I just wanted to give you this" she answered handing to mug to her.

" What is it " she asked smelling the liquid. It didn't smell that great.

" An old concoction your mom and I made when we were hung over " she said with a nostalgic tone Making Evelyn think about her mom and grams would be disappointed with how she treated her aunt.

Evelyn eyed the drink then her Aunt and hesitated to sip curious of its contents. Then draining the cup. For a moment she felt fine even relaxed no longer doubting her aunt. Then all at once the energy drained from her body unable to move then a overwhelming feeling to close her eyes.

Abby rushed over to her niece and moved her over to lay comfortably on her bed. Evelyn heart beat slightly and her breathing frail. Abby text bonnie of her success and where they planned to meet. They didn't have much time to waste.

Kol had convinced Klaus to take him to the nearest bar. None other than the Mystic grill of course. To kol, he was there to drink alcohol and maybe a cooperative bartender the quench their thirst. The one thing he won't admit was he really wanted to bump into Evelyn. He knew she would be angry with him for hurting her human friend's hand. He knew she wasn't like tatianna but why not push her limits,' there was nothing else to do in this town' he thought to himself. Then he sat down at the bar with his brother. Who was listening to some humans conversation.

"Oh come on now. Let's not go blaming the new family in town just because you lot have got yourselves a killer at large. Don't mind us. My brother and I are just here to let off some steam, right Kol?" Klaus said to the man and woman kol hadn't met but he was sure his brother knew them well.

" Right." kol simply answered. The man sarcastically smiled and the twosome moved their seats as kol eyes followed the women with the desire to rip out her throat.

"Who's the creepy, lurky guy?."abby asked walking up.

"Esther's son, Finn, he's a vampire so…"
Bonnie points to her ear to indicate he can hear her.

"Wonder what your Grams thinks about the part we're playing in all of this balance of nature stuff."

"She's probably on the other side, screaming about getting involved with vampire business. I'm more worried about what she thinks about us drugging eve." bonnie answered with more than just a hint of guilt.

"it may seem bad now but when we're done everyone will be safe will be able to go back to living your lives." Abby assured bonnie not knowing the spell esther casted with Evelyn's blood she had Finn retrieved at the ball.

"So what are we drinking to. Your sorry attempt at a date last night. "Klaus mocked.

" It went way better than yours, mine actually smiled as we danced "

"Says the one who ruined the ball trying to kill the quarterback " Klaus came back with vengeance.

" Well from what heard you tried to kill numerous loved ones. Am I right?. " kol smiled at his win knowing his couldn't come back from that one but still waited for a response.

" You got me there but let me warn brother whatever game you're planning on Evelyn won't work she's smarter than she looks and doesn't appreciate being toyed with."

" don't worry about me nik , worry about her from last night. She looks like a tasty little thing." kol said agitating Klaus as caroline walked in.

"Say another word and I'll tear out your liver." Klaus whispered " caroline! " he called to her.

" Oh, it's you." she pretended to not know he was there.

" Join us for a drink?" Klaus offered to caroline's distaste

"Mmm, I'd rather die of thirst. But thanks." caroline retorted and turned to leave.

" Isn't she stunning?"Klaus marvelled.

" She certainly looks good walking away from you."

" I'll take that as a challenge." Klaus said chasing after her leaving kol to himself. Which wasn't smart at all.

Evelyn took in her surrounding. The cold air, the trees that lead to darkness and the single road she walked down. Everything seemed unreal but the slight breeze made everything so uncertain. She was still wearing the dress she had worn to the ball. Slowly pacing up the road with no concept of time she stopped by and figure up ahead.. She took in those green eyes like hers and recognized the features . The moment was lost as what seemed to be her mother grab her tightly.

" wake up!, you're in danger. Wake up!"

Evelyn jolted up no longer hung over but more worried now about the dream she just had. Then she realized had been sleep for hours. The only thing that came to her mind was she had been drugged by her aunt and bonnie. She couldn't let that detail cloud her mind. Apparently she was in danger, but what danger?. She happened to look at the at the time and noticed it was 8:30 but then she noticed the full moon. Something here grams she to her came to mind. Something about a few minutes after nine the moon would be in the right spot for powerful spells. Evelyn quickly dialed everyone but Matt finally picked.

" Matt! Thank goodness it an emergency "

"What's up Evelyn, Matt left his phone on the counter " The girl answered who sounded familiar but she was quite sure.

"Who's this?. " I asked try to be polite even with her sense of urgency .

"Donna !duh we have economics,math science -"as soon as she began to speak she realized she was on the phone with talkative Donna which was not a good thing.

" okay Donna ,I remember where is Matt it's important "

"Oh he's ask me to cover him while he talks to Mr saltzman. Oh! and that cute guy you dance with and his brother is here are guys dating because-"

"okay that's great thanks " she said rushing off the phone" No I am not dating him but stay far far away from the mikaelsons. " she rather say that than have another schoolmate be eat by them.

Evelyn grew closer to the grill she wondered what she was running into. Or she could just be out of her mind something felt wrong. As Evelyn was a block away she felt an extreme rush of urgency. Then a excruciating pain in her chest then an overwhelming sense to close her eyes. losing control of the car making the third car she crashed since all this supernatural nonsense began.

The large room was was dark and a taste of light came from a lamp on a table next to the bed. The only noise in the room was the pats from shoes pacing back and forth. He had been waiting. Waiting for Evelyn to heal properly from the car crash and wake up. Esther had told her sons the truth. She linked Evelyn along with her children knowing she would never be on her side. First kol had wondered why Evelyn. He had to wonder why she would fight for his family. He also wondered why esther would panic at the thought of him caring about her in the slightest bit.

Then remembered the horrified look on bonnie and abby's faces when they found out they would have had a hand in their own flesh and blood's death. He felt bad for Evelyn having to hear the truth but felt bonnie deserve whatever Evelyn had to say. Kol knew she was waking up once her heart slowly began to beat.

" What the hell" Evelyn raised up slowly feeling brief moments of pain everywhere. " Where am I ."

" My room actually " kol answered while she took in the surroundings especially an exit route.

" What for?." she asked not sure how I got here.

" Well I can imagine with the turn of events you didn't want to go home with your friends. So I brought you here."

" You know my aunt drugged me?" Was the last thing she remembered. kol looked as if this was brand new information .

" Well I guess we can add that to the list of things that happened to you tonight' he hinted too something more I tried to remember. Why it so late?.

" Well can you fill in the blanks ? " I pushed.

" I'd love to " he answered. it wouldn't surprise me he took joy in seeing mad at my friends. "Well your friends separated brother and I. Then daggered making me and family except niklaus, that bastard. Since my mother somehow added you into the mix so you went down also , crashing by the grill. As we approach our mother in the woods we find your cousin bonnie, her mother I assume at the witch's hot spot." kol tells me and even with the nonchalant tone as he told me my worst fear. I try to find the lie in his words.

" If esther was successful tonight,would I have died right along with you". I Asked not bothering to hide how upsetting everything was.

" It's possible". He answered with a little more concerned possibly pity.

" Are you leaving " I pondered changing the subject once I saw the bags.

" I rather not stay here and become my brother lap dog like becca. I also have things I need to handle elsewhere. "

" Would you mind if I come along. " the word came out like vomit before I could think. But then again I didn't want to stay here I didn't have much to say to anyone.

"I…" he started to answer but then seem to be listening to something. " Stay here is will be right back."

As kol left the room I thought about what I just asked him. I had to admit I wasn't that torn I knew bonnie and abby didn't set out to hurt me they just wanted Klaus. But I warned them and they ignored me. Nothing I say matters so why should I stay.

"What's going on downstairs" I Asked quickly As kol walked back in.

"the blonde my brother is infatuated with and your cousin are demanding your release. "

" Oh." I say clearly disappointed.

" But if you can get rid of them I wouldn't mind the company " kol said but it seemed to be more about wanting someone there than a hidden agenda.

"I have better idea. "

Bonnie didn't really speak the whole ride she seems terrified of what I would do or say next. Which was another reason I planned to get some things and leave. I couldn't say in Mystic Falls with people walking on eggshells around me. She also looked defeated which made me feel worse for being pissed at her . It hurts more she didn't listen to me we're supposed to trust each other. Caroline had a different focus. She talked the whole car ride about how elena was kidnapped by Elijah and damon turning abby to a vampire to break the spell. So no one won tonight was her light beyond the tunnel . Didn't care enough to buy we got back into the house bonnie walked straight to the back so I assumed that where abby was .

"caroline, I'm got to take a long shower" I told her and she nodded walking to the kitchen " caroline! " I yelled and she came back to the stairs. " tell bonnie I'm sorry about abby ".

" Of course I will " she answered solemnly.

I wasn't lying I did take a shower but it only lasted few minutes. I got out leaving the water on and quickly got dressed in something comfortable. Then got what I could carry. Which quickly turned into two duffel bags. One thing I couldn't leave without was the shoebox under my which had I cash I saved up my mom's ring and a card with my dad's phone number and address. My grams gave it to me the night she told me everything.

I turned off the water but then locked my door and turned up some music. I was which reminded me to take my ipod. Kol sent the signal throwing a rock in room and paced to the window quietly. I text the only person wanted to know i was leaving. the only guardian I had left, Carol Lockwood.

" This is silly " he whispered as I threw to bags to the ground.

" stop being party pooper" I whisper yelled as I sat on the ledge but the realized I was about to jump out a two story window.

" Come on darling, you're about to leave town with an original vampire and you're afraid to jump out a bloody window.!" with that said I held my breath and closed my eyes and jumped. I felt a rush of air then broad arms holding me as if I was light as a feather. I felt him move again until I was in black suv. Then he came back with the got in the front seat and proceeded to drive.

" I might not have thought this through but how do you know how to drive ?." I Asked remembering he only woke up two days ago.

" It's pretty simple daring. "

"well I guess I won't be you get the food i ask for ?."

"Here,it smells rancid " he answered tossing the bag, running another stop light luckily not many people were driving.

" hey, bacon cheeseburger and fries is amazing " I explained offended.

" You know what's amazing, daisy the bartender. " he bragged while drinking a strange liquid out of white foam cup.

"hey !" I yelled impulsively smacking his arm. Kol didn't seem to care but i was bothered by how comfortable I was with him ." did you really have to get a To-go cup" ." yes I did ,unless you're willing. " he omitted giving that wicked mikaelson smile.

" touch me and will make your blood boil. " told him then popping a fry in my mouth.

"we'll see. "

The sunlight gleaming through the window as I peeked through my eyelids. I noticed we weren't driving anymore but at a gas station. I look around and noticed a tall blonde man filling our tank. As I looked harder at the man I could tell kol had yet another victim on my watch. At least he wasn't killing people went through my mind with an eyeroll. Kol walked out of the gas station with the same demeanor as the rest of the mikaelsons. Cocky and overrated. I watch as kol compelled the man away.

" Hey where are we" I Asked as he got in the car.

" Just leaving Alabama" he answered then left the gas station. I noticed a very obvious line of crimson along the collar of his undershirt. I gave he him an Unsettling look.

" What " he looked at me somewhat annoyed.

" I just didn't realize your brother was right when he said you will eat an entire town" I voiced sarcastically.

" Well my brother is a liar just like how he told me you're weren't the judgmental one " He shot back which kind of stumped me since that's how people separated bonnie and I.

"Whatever " I said then he rolled his eyes. Somehow I caught a glimpse of His stupid overly gorgeous brown eyes. Why did all the mikaelsons have good looks.

"So where are we headed.?"

"New Orleans ." he answered. I started to to question why that was our first stop since it wasn't far enough from Virginia for me but then I thought of the stories grams told me about the strength of the witch's there. Then my plan became ditch kol and see if one of them can get me a spell to contact Tatiana. I had more questions that she only had answers to.

" ok ,but can we stop to a hotel and freshen up ." he nodded reluctantly and looked for the nearest exit. I may not trust him all the way but we couldn't not speak at all. I had to figure him out.

" What are you talking about liz!,how is this not a missing person's kind of situation." damon inquired with a highly annoyed voice.

"Well for one thing Evelyn is eighteen and legal an adult and secondly I spoke to her Guardian this morning and she said Evelyn is fine she had spoken to her earlier. "

"She doesn't have a guardian. Sheila and her mother died and her father lives in new york". He answered confused.

" I'm were of Evelyn's family situation I was close with Nora. When her grandmother died guardianship went to her godmother. " once hearing that damon decided all he had to do was find and compel who ever it was and find Evelyn.

Damon flashed a smirk and simply asked " and who would the be".

"Mayor Lockwood " liz answered as they walked to the cell previously holding ric.

Damon face fell and for the first time in long time he was out of caused liz to giggle to herself .Of course getting law enforcement to do a statewide search wasn't his first idea. But he knew Bonnie had been trying to locate her cousin though magic with no luck.

" How did I not know that" damon asked himself put a pin in that conversation.

"Shouldn't the one person you would be able to find her is your own flesh and blood. " caroline pressed after talking to Miss Lockwood was no help at all.

Evelyn hadn't answered any of their calls and all carol knew was that she was safe and could handle herself.

" I know!. I tried everything personal items, blood and pictures. I don't see her all I can feel is anger and disappointment. " bonnie stressed.

" You think she's mad at us " care made her way to the bed resting on her friend's shoulder.

" Honestly I would be. What worse is her magic acting as some emotional barricade. "

" So what do we now. "

" Abby completed the transition ,so I'm going to Charlotte to help her and it would be nice if my vampire best friend would come with me?."

" Really! I mean ,sure I can help." caroline exclaimed excitedly.

"Of course care. "

I wasn't an impatient person but he was taking a very long shower. I sat at the edge of the bed putting up hair up to keep it from frizzing. We were In the even smaller town just out outside of Louisiana. It was a whopping ninety five degrees so I chose to wear shorts and a crop top. Unlike me who brought clothes in the bathroom kol had another idea. He walked out of the bathroom in only a towel slowly walking towards his bag. Watching me smirking the whole time. I averted my eyes trying to ignore him.

" So how long until we get new Orleans? " I Asked to take my mind off of things.

" not long at all, a few hours possibly. We should get going" he answered tossing a shirt on.

" Why are we heading there anyway?.

" I have a few witchy friends I need to see."

"Um shouldn't they all be dead by now." I questioned.

" Well then they wouldn't be good witches, now would they?. Kol shot sarcastically. Why do I always get the asswholes. I rolled my eyes seeing this is what I will have to deal with for the time being. I can't sit in the car in silence again.

"Can I drive." asked before we get to the car.

"No" he answered without hesitation.

"well, you could have at least thought about it first".

" There's nothing to think about little witch."

"There's nothing little about me"I said as I got back in the passenger seat.

"Soo ….. I kinda have a few questions if you don't mind " I started off.

"Actually I do ."

"Well that's too bad I just asking to be polite. Why did you decide to leave?."

"You're serious? .

"Yeah" he through an annoyed look as I answered him.

" If you must know, I rather skip town then wait for round two with my mother or be daggered by any of my siblings. "

"So when did Klaus dagger you "

"ha, which time ?. "He chortled to himself. I wondered how many times Klaus shoved a knife in his own brother's heart. Then I pondered if I start counting bonnie's. Instead of digging I decided to change the subject. The question i really wanted to ask was burning a hole in my throat. It wanting to be said to get an answer. I just didn't know how I would feel afterwards.

" No, you're nothing like her. Another disappointment on my brothers end.?" he answered like he could read my mind. I would have normally said something mean to counter his rudeness but I didn't want to test the vampire who Klaus can't even control.

"good " I answered in a timid tone.

After another hour of silence we finally pulled in front Rousseau's bar and grill. Kol got out first and I trail behind taking in the the French Quarter. Honestly I never left the state of Virginia ,but I wasn't going to tell anyone that. Kol gestured for me to walk in as he held the door. I took a seat by the bar as he walked towards a back room. I smiled once I noticed the bartender was coming towards me.

"Hi I'm jane Ann, what can I getcha? ". She asked with her deep accent.

"Evelyn , I will get a soda and whatever food you have back there." a quick smiled popped up on her face accepting the challenge.

"Coming right up" she walked quickly through some double doors.

I felt a shiver down my spine which for a witch it meant trouble was near that when I noticed a guy who wasn't there before little too close for comfort closing in on my personal space. Everything about him screamed vampire.

"You new here?" he asked overly charming. I ignored his question avoiding his eyes. " I will take that has a yes" he smiled innocently " My name is diego. What's yours?. He demanded with his eyes.

Shit.
