A Whole New World
Explaining the Past

"Demons?" she questioned. Yuriko had always hoped in some part of her that they were real and not just stories. Think of how cool it would be to actually see a demon up close and personal. "I would think so. Legends and myths exist for a reason. I believe that if something in old stories is there, it had to have been real at some point y'know."

Thinking carefully on how to phrase the next few words, Kagome looked at the eagerness her friend held.

"Well what if I told you that they were real? Every last story we were ever told."

Confusion flashed across her face. Demons aren't real. There's no way. And if there ever was, they must've gone extinct hundreds of years ago. "Well I suppose if they were real, they'd be dead by now. Right?"

"Not exactly. See I thought the same thing as you. But..."

"But?"

"They exist." Confusion still showed on her face. Kagome then started telling the tale of how she found out that it was all true, starting with the day she turned 15.

Yuriko sat there, thinking. If everything that was said in the legends was true, then what happened to them? What could've caused them to die out? "You're serious? You're actually telling the truth right now?"

"Yep. I know its hard to imagine but its true. I could show you how I get there, if you want." Nodding her answer, they both stood and walked over to the well house. Reaching the double doors, Kagome slid one of them opened and motioned for Yuriko to step in first.

"So this is where you leave? Down a well?"

"Yea, here watch." Lifting one leg after the other over the lip of the well, Kagome pushed herself off the ledge and into the magic, leaving a strangely warm feeling behind. Walking closer and peering inside, Yuriko saw nothing. No way! She couldn't believe it! Magic, demons, mikos, monsters, it was all real!

After a few minutes of Kagome being gone, there was that same feeling again and her at the bottom of the well. Must be the magic I feel. "See? I told you."

"The fake illnesses too. Lies?"

"Yea that was all grandpa, even the ridiculous ones." Laughing she hauled herself up and out, opting to sit on the ledge. "I had hoped that us gathering the jewel wouldn't take so long but it has. It stinks too y'know. It would be nice to just sit around in the Feudal Era, even if for a few days. That's all we really do is hunt for the shards." Kagome smiled sadly to herself, not knowing how long it would take and if she would ever be able to return to a normal life.

Yuriko noticed the look on her face and asked, "Are you ok Kagome?"

"Yes I'm fine." I don't believe her.

"So does it only work for you, or can other people pass through?"

"As far as I know, its only me and Inuyasha." she sighed. "That's what I was hoping I could talk to you about."

"The well or Inuyasha?"

"Inuyasha."

"What about him?"

Kagome began telling her more of what was going on, and what happened most recently. Kikyo, Naraku, the lying and the cheating. Well not really cheating cause they weren't really together. What bothered her most was what he did recently.

Flashback

"Inuyasha where are you going?" She had noticed the soul eaters a while ago but honestly thought nothing of it.

"None of yer damn business!" he said, taking off after them.

"I'm sorry Kagome" Sango hugged her friend to give her some sort of comfort. She knew why he left but couldn't understand how he could choose a dead person over a living one.

After Inuyasha had left, Kagome awoke the next morning and saw that he didn't come back. Saying nothing, she started on making breakfast for everyone so they could keep going. 'With or without him, we need to leave soon.'

None of them could believe that Inuyasha had the nerve to stay away for three days! 'I suppose Lady Kagome is not surprised, though that thought in itself is upsetting.' When he finally did return though, he never once looked at her. 'Probably out of guilt.' Shaking his head, Miroku walked a little faster so he could stay close by Sango and Kagomes side.

"I knew what he had done, even if he still won't admit it." Wiping the few tears away that had fallen through, Kagome continued. "What am I supposed to do? I promised him that I would finish our quest in finding the shards. But I don't think I can do it with him anymore."

"Well I know that he helps protect you and your friends, but isn't there anyone else you can travel with that could do the same thing?"

"I suppose if he even lets me, or all of us, I could ask Sesshomaru."

"Sesshomaru?" That name sounds so familiar.. "Who is that?"

"He's Inuyashas full-blooded half brother. Big human hater, and seems to hate Inuyasha even more"

"Doesn't sound like a nice guy" she laughed.

"No I suppose not but he does have a little human girl that travels with him so he can't be that bad"

"That's true. Try asking him, it would be worth a shot."

"I guess you're right. I have to leave in a few days so I can ask him then." If I can even find him.

Noticing it had gotten pretty late, the girls hugged and said their goodbyes, promising to talk tomorrow. Being ever so careful, Yuriko waited patiently for traffic to stop, looked to make sure it was safe to cross, and began to walk. The next few seconds were a blur to her as she doubled over in pain in the middle of the street. The last thing she saw was a strangers face, asking something she couldn't understand.

"...ko?"

Ow. My head. Was all Yuriko could think of at that moment. Faintly, she heard someone calling out to her but she couldn't make out who it was exactly.

"Yuriko!" A familiar voice called, worry clear in her voice

Opening her eyes little by little, she began to make sense of her surroundings.

"Oh my God, she's awake! Look!" Ms. Akiyama quickly ran to her daughter, stopping her conversation with the doctor, so he left to give them a chance to talk.

"Oh dear, are you alright? How do you feel?"

"I feel fine I guess, my head hurts real bad though." What happened to me? All I remember is leaving Kagomes house. "What happened?"

"Kagome told us that you left her house but collapsed in the middle of the street. Did you eat or drink enough today?" Her mother was worried that she may have gotten dizzy, like she has before but also thought it could be something entirely different.

"Yea I think so." Pausing, she thought for a moment on what she had eaten. "I had breakfast and I ate lunch at school"

The doctor had walked back in, wanting to talk to Yuriko. "Miss Akiyama, did you feel anything before you blacked out? Any pains, light headedness?"

Thinking back to what she felt at the shrine, she said, "I had a pain on my forehead at Kagomes house. But before I blacked out it felt like I was on fire, everywhere. It was just really weird"

Nodding, he pulled her mother aside to talk to her. Of course it would be out of ear shot. Yuriko rolled her eyes, and turned her attention towards Kagome.

"I didn't scare you did I?" she asked.

"No, I'm just glad you're ok" laughing nervously, Kagome turned her head towards the two adults walking back over.

"Well Miss Akiyama, in a few hours you can go home. I believe it may have been a little heat sickness or something you ate"

"Are you sure?" That doesn't sound right. I wonder if momma knows what it could've been.

"I am positive." With that, the doctor turned on his heel and once more walked out of the room.

Pulling up another chair, Ms. Akiyama sat next to her daughter. I'm sure she's going to ask whats going on. I have to be careful though. I can't exactly explain to her right now about whats happening.

"Momma is what he said true? And what kind of hospital are we in that doctors have blood orange hair?"

Smiling her mother gave the simplest explanation she could without saying too much.

"It's a special hospital and no. What he said wasn't all true. Yes, it could've been whatever you had eaten. I have seen you both, many times, get sick from a spoiled juice or fruit."

"If it wasn't the food or heat thing, what was it then?" Things were just too weird. Anything she had done outside, even in the heat, had never made her sick before.

"I can't tell you right now dear, it's not time but you will find out soon. I promise."

Yuriko said nothing after that, opting to take a nap before she left to hopefully get rid of the little nagging pain that had come back.

A few hours later, Yuriko was checked out and back home. Kagome had told her that she asked her mom if it would be alright for her to stay over for the night. She protested saying she was fine and if she needed anything, she had her mom and her little sister.

"Its alright, I don't mind. Besides, if you're feeling up to it and your mom says its ok, we could try to see if the Well will let you through."

"My mom knows that you travel through time?"

"I kinda let it slip earlier while you were in the hospital"

"How did she react?"

Kagome thought for a moment, recalling the older womans reaction. "Surprisingly she took it ok. I also mentioned to her that if it was something else, a friend of mine might be able to be figure out what it is." Groggily nodding her head, she walked to the hallway closet to grab some extra blankets, a pillow and a bedroll for her to sleep on.

Yawning, Yuriko helped Kagome finish her setting up her bed, turning to fix hers only when she was done. She said goodnight to her very caring friend as she climbed into bed and covered. I hope I do feel better tomorrow. It'd be nice to know what the hecks goin on. Closing her eyes and thinking of what would happen when she would try to time travel, Yuriko soon drifted off, dreaming of a silver haired man.

Okay guys, here's another revised chapter and yes I do see that the crappy writing you all had read years ago, is completely different from what I hope you are reading now. Also... HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I'm gonna be watching a Supernatural and Simpsons marathon that's on tv today and I might be a little busy this week catching up on some sleep. I have been helping my sister move the last few days and I haven't slept very well. I will be working on the chapter though, as much as I can but I'm not sure if its gonna be up next Wednesday. It might be a few days late, depending on how fast I can fix the next chapter.

Hope you guys like it!
