A Whole New World
Lost Memories

"Slow down! You are too fast!" A young female inu called out.

"I am not too fast, you are too slow. We are both demons with great speed, how you run is not my problem" a young boy called out to her, hearing a faint "jerk". Using his speed he went quick enough into a tree without her seeing. He waited a while but she never came. Looking down and around him, he jumped to the ground below and began looking for his best friend and playmate.

He eventually found her sitting up against a large tree by the pond in his fathers private garden. "Are you alright?" He noticed the way her shoulders jumped a little in surprise.

Golden eyes turned towards the small person standing next to her. "Huh? Yea I'm just watching the fish" she patted a spot next to her on the soft grass. Accepting, he sat down.

For a while they just sat there watching the koi swim around. As the sun started to set a little in the sky, the young boy turned and noticed his friend was asleep. Smiling to himself, he leaned against his favorite tree and closed his eyes, drifting off into a sweet dream.

Nearing dinner, his father had noticed how it had been awful quiet. It was usually around this time of day that his son and 'daughter' created more mischief for his staff. Deciding to go look for them, he stood and left his study. He did ask all staff members just in case someone had seen them. Most had said no, so he looked in their favorite hiding spots.

Finding absolutely nothing, the Lord ran into one servant he had not yet asked. The young demon had said he saw them just a few hours ago outside in the garden. Nodding his head in thanks, he turned on his heel and headed out. It didn't take long for him to find the two under his sons favorite tree by the koi pond he 'demanded' he put in for his friend. Smiling, he walked closer to them, scooped them up and headed back inside to put them to bed. He would have woken them up but decided not to. Especially considering that the little girl was very grouchy when being woken. The only downside? His kitchen would most likely be near empty from two very hungry kids who also missed out on lunch so they could play even longer.

Hearing the birds chirping in the morning truly was the best thing there ever was. It was a time when not too many things were awake or moving around. Absolute bliss.

Sitting up, Yuriko looked to her clock on her desk. 7:30. Too early. Groaning, she thought for a minute about going back to bed. But if I did that's just more time I'd be wasting.

Throwing her blanket off of her and her legs off her bed, Yuriko stood carefully so she didn't step on her still sleeping friend. Walking to her door, she opened it and continued on to the bathroom.

After having already used the bathroom, Yuriko then began washing her face with her mango scented face wash. When she finished washing it off, she looked in the mirror to make sure it was all gone. Instead of seeing just her face, she saw golden eyes where blueish green should have been. She blinked. Blinked once more. Blueish green staring back at her again. Am I going crazy?

Deciding that she was just seeing things, Yuriko headed back to her room. Opening the door, she noticed that her friend was now awake. Laughing to herself she thought, barely.

"Morning Kagome"

"Oh" yawning she said, "Good morning"

Standing to stretch, Kagome said. "I'm glad we don't have school for the next few days. That gives us a little extra time to get some answers for you" she stretched once more and began rolling up her bed.

"Yea hopefully we can. Maybe your friend could tell us why I'm seeing things now too" laughing she sat back on her bed.

"What do you mean seeing things?" setting her bed stuff down on her computer chair, Kagome then sat down next to her.

"Well last night, for example, I had this weird dream with two kids and some tall guy who had silver hair. Then this morning when I went to wash my face, I looked up and in the mirror I saw golden eyes, kinda like the ones the people in my dream had"

Sounds like a few inus I know. "Maybe its nothing y'know. It could've been from you having that dream"

"Yea maybe." Huffing, Yuriko stood and walked towards the door. Pausing, she turned to Kagome and asked, "When do you wanna go? The sooner the better would be nice."

"We can go after breakfast if you want." Nodding her answer, both girls walked down to the kitchen to eat.

"Good morning girls! How'd you sleep?"

"I slept ok, still a little tired though" she said as she searched through the fridge.

"I slept pretty well, thank you for asking Ms. Akiyama." Cheering in triumph over her newly found bagel, Yuriko popped it into the toaster.

"No problem dear, would you like something to eat?" Kagome shook her head 'no'. "I assume both of you will be leaving today then?"

"Yea. We figured since there's no school for a few extra days, we'd get a little more time to figure this out"

"Sounds like a good idea, just be careful please"

"We will." Smiling to her mother, Yuriko turned her attention to the toaster that just spit her bagel out. Hopefully all will go well.

With breakfast finished and a few things packed, the girls said goodbye to Yurikos mother and headed to Kagomes house.

Neither one of them knew what would happen when they left through the well, but Kagome was more concerned about what Inuyashas reaction would be that another person could come through. More important than a stubborn dogs commentary, would be whether or not they could help.

As they reached the steps, Yuriko felt the same pin like pain on her forehead once again. Unlike last time it wasn't as bad so she continued to walk. Why stop and make a fuss when nothings there and it doesn't hurt so bad? Finally at the top, Kagome turned to her and asked,

"I just have to grab a few things from inside and let momma know I'm leaving. Do you want to come in or wait outside?"

"I can wait out here but tell your mom I said 'hello'"

She smiled and said, "I will." Kagome watched Yuriko walk away to sit by the God tree. Turning to her house, she walked until she reached the door. Only she didn't get the chance to open it because she, more like someone else, ran into her knocking her to the ground.

Rubbing her nose, Kagome looked to see who she had collided with. Noticing who it was, she began to get a little frustrated.

"What are you doing here? Aren't you early?"

"Who cares? A week is too long anyways"

"I told you I had tests to do and I needed a break"

"You coulda taken your break at the village with the others"

With a huff, she turned on her heel and walked to Yuriko.

"You might want to come in now. We have an unwelcomed visitor"

Opening her eyes, she glanced towards the house. She had hoped to enjoy the last few minutes of home before they left. Obviously she wasn't going to be able to.

"Who is that guy?" she pointed to the funny looking guy, clad in a red outfit.

"That would be one of the ones who you were going to meet in the past" she sighed. "Though I guess you'll be meeting him now"

Yuriko stood and began to follow Kagome when said funny man started shouting.

"Who the hell is she?"

"She is my friend, Inuyasha, and she is welcomed here anytime she wants so don't even start yelling at her or me that she needs to leave or I'll 'it' you into the ground until you're eating dirt!"

Kagome stormed into the house and not wanting her to turn her anger towards her, Yuriko followed her in. So he's the one who hurt her? He looks like a jackass so it's no surprise either. With her following her severely pissed off friend, she had noticed that they had walked right by her mother and into her bedroom.

Said pissed off friend had slammed her door, knocking a picture frame down in the process. Hoping to not stir the 'fire' anymore, she thought carefully on how to word her worry.

"Is that the same guy you were telling me about yesterday?"

Setting her head on her hands, she sighed and said, "Yea, that's him"

"Wow. He's got some nerve showing up here after what he did. Are you gonna be alright?"

Such a loaded question. She grabbed her pillow that was next to her and she began fiddling with the ruffles on it as she thought. Would she? It's not the first time Inuyasha had done something stupid and it sure wouldn't be the last. For two years she had put up with him running off to see her and for two years she pretended not to care. Two years is two years too long. She knew she had to stop being jealous and worried about something and someone she knew she would never have. In a way it didn't bother her anymore, but there was always that part of her that still cared. A part of her that she wish would disappear.

"I suppose I will. I would stay away from him but I made a promise"

"What promise?"

"I promised that I would stay by his side as a friend and to finish collecting the shards."

"I know you like to keep your promises but.."

"But?"

"Isn't there anyone else that can help him do it? I know you said you would look for this Sesshomaru guy, but what about him. Is there someone else to help him so you won't have to?"

She thought for a moment. "Hm, well I suppose he could ask Kikyo. He runs off to see her so much I don't see why she wouldn't help him. At least then he can be near her and I won't have to see his face."

"Good. He doesn't seem like a very nice person and I don't think you should be around someone like that"

"I know. If it wasn't for my friends, I wouldn't have made that promise." Kagome smiled sadly as she cast her eyes down to the pillow in her hands. Yuriko walked from her place at the door and sat next to her on the bed. Once she was sitting, she leaned a little to hug her friend and noticed she had started crying. Yuriko held on to her a little tighter as Kagome cried for the next hour.

She had made a promise to her self right then and there. No matter what, she would protect her friend from ever being hurt by Inuyasha ever again. Consequences be damned.

Happy early Thanksgiving! I'm sorry guys that this chapter is almost a month overdue. I had a little family drama going on and I've been helping my mom clean for Thanksgiving. So here's the new chapter. I hope you guys like it and I'm gonna try and work on the other chapters. My birthday is also coming up so it might be late again or it might be early!
