Chapter 5: Christmas break Part 1

Here we are. A new chapter, I am sorry how long it took, but I haven't been writing much, and well, I haven't had a lot of interest from readers, so I have been ignoring it.

Right at this moment, Snow, Frisk, Asriel, Padma, Harry, Draco, Luna, Neville, Fay, Hermione, and Susan were lugging their trunks and other belongings from the carriages to the Hogwarts Express. It seemed whoever had brought their stuff up to the castle at the beginning of September, only did it for the trips arriving and not when they were leaving, which would have been nice.

It was the Christmas break now, and the student body were all chattering about what they would be getting up to during the break. Mostly, they were talking about activities they would get up to, places they'd go. Harry was very excited about the fact he was spending Christmas with the Dreamurrs, and hopefully, it would be better than his ones at the Dursleys. Though, he did not know what he was getting into, because no one had mentioned it, or what they were doing, at least not yet.

Padma had been considering the idea of Snow's proposal of studying to bring back the dead and had agreed. Now, the project had Snow, Harry, Draco and Padma on it: they were going to study raising the dead, or necromancy as they found it it was called, and they were going to do a little bit of experimenting before they told Asgore and Toriel what they had found. First, they had to find somewhere where they wouldn't be found.

The rest of the school term had been quite uneventful, with the only the slightly interesting thing being Quirrell being more unusual in his actions and Ron upsetting Hermione after insulting her, with the result being they to rescue her from a troll that had somehow gotten into the castle. They did get ten points for their troubles, though, and Ron lost some.

After putting all their stuff in overhead racks in the first handy compartment they found, they all flopped down into the seats. "So, it's Christmas at last," Fay said.

"The the year passed fast, didn't it?" Frisk said quietly.

"Especially the school term," Susan added.

"Did you know: you can remember particular memories of your parents from babyhood? You remember them clearer and more if you're missing a parent or two. A Healer a St Mungos told me that, and he said everyone remembered a bit," Neville said suddenly: it seemed very out of the blue. Very unlike Neville, and he spoke abnormally for him.

"Really?" Snow asked, looking interested once she got over the shock of Neville speaking abnormally.

"Yes. I remember my parents' voice, and that's about it. I do not have my parents now, but they are alive, just vegetables. Which is why I can't remember more, I think," Neville said, giving them information some did not know. Susan and Asriel did know already, but none of the others did. Then he started to break up a bit. "Some, sometimes it would be easier if they had gone: you wouldn't believe how hard it is watching them, and they have no idea who they or y-y-you are."

"I'm sorry, Neville," all the others said in their own time.

"Do be honest, I don't know if I can remember them or not; both my parents are alive, so I have not tried," Hermione admitted sounding slightly embarrassed.

"There's nothing wrong with that, Hermione," Neville said.

"Yes, and your not the only one with that problem," Asriel added.

"Yes. I can remember my parents a bit! My mum had green eyes like me, and red, fiery hair and my dad had hazel eyes and black messy hair. They loved me a lot," Harry said, after looking thoughtful for a moment. It was amazing what you remembered when you tried hard! He also thanked the photos Hagrid had given him: they helped.

"I can remember my babyhood memories, but I don't a lot because they are alive," Padma said laxly.

"I remember my parents swooning over me, especially my mother. But she's gone now, which has something to do with that, I'm sure," Luna said airily. Though, she did look a bit sad.

"I remember a lot of mines. All of my mother spending time with me. She's dead now: You Kno- ahh, Voldemort killed her," Fay said breaking out into tears. "Sorry, can't help it," Fay then said, as Hermione put her arm around her.

"You said his name!" Neville exclaimed in awe.

"He's not likely to come back. Even if he does, I will not show him that I'm afraid of him," Fay said boldly. It seemed she had stopped crying to say that sentence, at least.

"See why you're in Gryffindor," Draco commented. Then he said, "I don't know if I can remember baby memories." He said baby as if that word was beneath him. "But I have no reason to try."
"Fair enough," Neville nodded.

"I can remember my parents quite well. I look a lot like my mum," Susan said having a full-on breakdown. Neville quickly moved to comfort her, much to the amusement of their friends: they felt sorry for her, but Neville moving to comfort her was amusing, as it was popular thought he had a thing for Susan.

"I can't remember mine. But according to the Orphanage I used to live at, my mum died as soon as I was born," Frisk said thoughtfully.

"So you were born in an orphanage then?" Draco asked.

"Yes. My mum knew she was going to die, so she went there so she could assure a safe future for me. But I have Toriel and Asgore now, so let's not drawl on it," Frisk said with a small smile.

"What about you, Snow?" Harry asked, after a minute or two of silence.

Snow seemed to think hard for quite a few minutes. Then she looked sad, shook her head, and then said, "I can't remember a thing about them."
"WHAT?! But unless you have the same problem as Frisk, that is impossible!" Neville exclaimed.

Padma seeing Snow was not happy about this, changed the subject about relationships people are hiding and other things like that. About then, Draco and Harry decided to play wizard chess.

After three games of Harry losing spectacularly, Draco cried, clearly not impressed, "Harry! You are terrible at this game! Someone needs to teach you how to play properly!"
"Don't beat about the bush, Drake, tell him what you think," Asriel said with a slight laugh.

"Alright, you can teach me now then. Since my playing abilities offend you," Harry said, and Draco nodded and quickly started teaching Harry.

While he did so, Draco asked Fay, "What are you doing for the holidays?"
This was a subject they were yet to talk about in the full group. "We are going to Romania. I hope we don't run into the Weasleys. Dad says Mrs Weasley is always too much," Fay said.

"So the Weasleys who are not at Hogwarts are going to Romania?" Snow asked, and Fay nodded.

"Got a son who lives there, or something, according to the twins. Anyway, I'm staying at home," Hermione said.

"Good for you," Snow said.

"What about you, Luna?" Draco asked the slightly crazy blonde.

"Oh, staying home too. and we're going to be setting Nargle traps," Luna said dreamily.

"What about you, Snow, Asriel and Frisk?" Draco asked the three Dreamurrs.

"Staying at home and visiting friends. And Harry will be doing the same," Asriel said.

"Sounds great," Harry nodded.

"Draco? What are you up to?" Asriel asked.

"We are visiting relatives in France, and they are boring as old get out," Draco said loathingly.

"We're popping over to India," Padma said, sounding happy about it.

"What about you, Susan?" Harry asked the strawberry blonde.

"We are staying home. Neville, what about yourself?" Susan said smiling.

"We will visit my parents on Christmas Day, and apart from that, we will be doing nothing. Maybe we could catch up, Susan!" Neville suggested, and Susan nodded. This finished the discussion about Christmas.

They did not get much talking done, apart from Draco talking as he teaching Harry to play chess properly. When they arrived at the station, they pulled everything they had out of the racks and stuff, then they all piled off the train.

"Please write to me, guys! I will die of boredom otherwise! I do not fancy dying in France of all places!" Draco called as he walked off to his parents, standing proud and tall. They were standing next to a couple who looked like they could pass as Crab or Goyle's parents.

"Bye!" They all called. Hermione and Fay then went over to their parents, who were standing together, and it looked like they were talking.

"I see my dad. Bye," Luna said dreamily. Then she drifted off to her long blonde-haired dad. It was no wonder she was strange when you take a look at her father: he looked barmy.

"I see my gran," Neville said, also leaving them to go over to his grandmother sporting a large vulture hat. Padma left then, too. Neville's gran and Luna's dad both stood out like sore thumbs, Harry noticed.

"Bye, Neville! Padma!" cried Susan, Snow, Asriel, Harry and Frisk. Susan left them to go over to her aunt a few seconds later.

Frisk, Asriel and Snow's parents were hanging around the barrier: there was a fireplace just there. Their parents were looking quite awkward, but that was not surprising.

"Howdy!" Asriel cheerfully cried to his parents, getting a big hug. Snow, hating the term howdy, glared at his back. Then Asriel said, "This is Harry Potter, mum and dad."

"Hi!" cried Frisk and Snow.

"Hello, Mr and Mrs Dreamurr," Harry said awkwardly.

"Hello children, and nice to meet you, Harry. Please, be less formal. I am Toriel and this is Asgore," Toriel said with a warm smile.

"Hello," Asgore nodded.

"Now come along: we have Undyne, Alphys, Sans and Papyrus all waiting for us at home," Toriel said turning to the fireplace. She felt a bit out of place even though no one said or did anything to suggest so, so she wanted to leave as soon as possible.

"Have you used the floo before, Harry?" Snow asked.

"No. What is that?" Harry asked, shaking his head.

"It is a magical method of travel. You and I shall go together," Toriel said.

Asgore took Hedwig and Harry's case then Harry and Toriel went through, followed by Frisk, Asriel, Snow and their cases, then finally Asgore brought up the rear.

Upon reaching the Dreamurrs' home Harry was promptly introduced to Undyne the fish-like creature, Sans and Papyrus the skeletons, and Alpys the lizard-like creature. Before he could chat to them though, Snow dragged upstairs where the rooms where. Harry was gifted in the spare room.

After Snow showing him the bathroom, helping make his bed and letting Hedwig out, they went downstairs to talk to the other monsters. Harry immediately took a liking to Sans: funny and a bit of a joker, but not over the top like Fred or George Weasley, or Papyrus. He was a nice conversation even with the bad puns.

Undyne was a bit scary: she talked in a scary manner and she quite often made joking threats. Then Alphys… she was extremely quiet and very shy. Harry was a little suspicious of her, even though there was not a reason to be. Papyrus was very serious but at the same time so over the top and flamboyant it was almost funny. They all asked each person about the school year, even though it was very similar responses.

Harry for one was glad when the monsters left, as it had been very loud until then and now he was very tired. "What now?" Frisk asked.

"When are we going Christmas shopping?" Asriel asked at the same time. Asriel, at of the three kids, liked shopping the most. Frisk hated in, and Snow was neither way.

"Tomorrow, if that suits Harry," Asgore responded.
"Sure, that's fine," Harry nodded.

"Frisk and I am going to start going through our homework. Frisk wanted some help when I was free, so now's the time. I'm free, and it's convenient," Snow said standing up.

"Okay. See you later," Frisk nodded, also standing up. Then the two girls went upstairs.

"You're teaching me chess!" Asriel cried, grabbing Harry and dragging him to Asriel's room.

"Okay," Harry said, sounding in shock. He was dragged off upstairs.

"What are you going to do?" Asgore asked Toriel.

"I am going to sort out that stuff Alphys brought," Toriel replied.

"And I am going out into the garden," Asgore nodded. The two adults stood up and went to do their tasks.

All done! Thanks for reading.
