Chapter 4: The Sorting
"First Years! First years!" a really big man said "First years this way!" Bill and I followed him to little boats "two to a boat, two to a boat" I timidly got into the small boat after Bill. "Forward!" the man said and the boats jolted to a start
"Oh wow!" I said "I wonder if I can make a chariot like this one day"
"You're going to do this all year aren't you" Bill said
"Probably" I said grinning
"You'll get your first view of the castle in a few moments" the man said as we went under a bridge
"Not all that impressive" I said
"Yeah, but you have a bloody temple as a bedroom" Bill said
"Point taken" I said "oh, try not to let anyone know I'm a god, I kind of don't want people to know"
"Okay" Bill said as we arrive at the door a woman was waiting for us. She led us to a hallway
"Wait here, I will come to get you in a few or the sorting" She said
"Merlin I'm so nervous" Bill said
"Just relax" I said putting my arm around his shoulder. We waited for what seemed like hours. Even I was nervous. Finally she returned, we were lead into a dining room. We were lead to the front; the woman had an old hat and a stool. The hat was ugly, like me. The hat did something I never expected it to do. It opened a split in it, that seemed to be a mouth, and sang, and boy, it was no Apollo quality.
"Oh you may not think I'm pretty,
but don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can't find
a smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
your top hats sleek and tall,
for I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
I can cap them all.

"Did that thing really just..." I asked bill
"Yep" Bill said
"Now when I call your name please set forward and I will place the hat on your head for you to be sorted" the woman who a presume is a teacher said "Bill Weasley" Bill walked up to the stool and sat down the teacher put the hat on his head
"GRYFFINDOR!" it said almost instantly, the teacher took the hat and he walked to a table with red.
"Diana Forth" the teacher called
"RAVENCLAW!" the hat said
"Kyle Jacobs" Jacobs shoved me out of his way to get up there and sat down on the stool
"SLYTHERIN!" the hat said almost before it had hit his head
"Hephaestus Olympian" She called. I slowly made my way up to the stool
'Odd I thought I'd be seeing your brother before you' the hat said inside my head
'No I'm the oldest' I replied
'Hmm let's see now, where to put you, oh I know' "GRYFFINDOR!" It yelled the Gryffindor table clapped and I went and sat next to Bill
"Rosaline Sydney" the teacher called
"GRYFFINDOR!" the hat yelled. I looked at bill, he didn't seem too happy to have her in our house.
"Welcome back for another year at Hogwarts students" Headmaster Dumbledore said after the sorting had been completed "And first years Welcome to your first year of Hogwarts. While here your house will be like your family, and at the end of the year the house with the most points wins the house cup. You will gain points for good behavior and lose them for bad behavior. First years are to keep in mind that the forbidden forest is that, Forbidden. A few others need to keep this in mind as well. First years should also note that no magic is allowed outside the classrooms. For further information on the rules see your house prefect. Now, everyone I want you to Welcome Professor Slughorn, he has agreed to work as our defense against the dark arts teacher. Well with all the important stuff out of the way, let's fill our bellies with glorious food" suddenly there was food on the table.
"Oh great, I just realized I didn't bring any ambrosia" I said
"Ambrosia," Bill asked "What's that? Why do you need it?"
"Ambrosia is the food of the gods that they need to keep their strength and power." She looked at me "but you're not a God so why do you need it?" Rosaline said
"What she said" I said "and Rosaline, it's complicated, I'll explain when I trust you more. I don't just give out personal information"
"I understand" Rosaline said
"Oh" Bill said as Poppy came up to me
"You work here?" I asked her as she slipped something into my hand
"Yes, dear I do be sure to come get this from me at least once day, I'd rather you eat it out of sight of the other children" Poppy whispered to me as I shoved the ambrosia in and swallowed it whole
"Yes ma'm" I said "I'll come to the Hospital wing around before dinner each night" I whispered. She gave me a nod and walked back to the staff table
"What was that all about" Rosaline asked
"Medical condition, she was giving me my meds, I'll have to go get 'em every night" I said eating some food I didn't really look at what I was eating
"Prefects," Dumbledore said after dinner "Please lead the first years to your dormitories and explain the rules, everyone get well rested, classes begin tomorrow"
"First year Gryffindor's this way" a black haired boy called, bill and I walked up to him, Rosaline in tow
"Howdy, what's your name? I'm Heph Olympian, its short for Hephaestus" I said looking up at the prefect
"I'm Luke Gilbert, the prefect girl is my sister Lilly" Luke said as a raven haired girl walked up
"Enough with the chit chat, let's get going" Lilly said "You wear a brace?" She said noticing my brace
"And a tool belt" Luke asked
"Yeah, I had an accident with one of my machines a few years back. The doctors said it won't ever completely heal. Dumbledore said I could wear my tool belt" I said
"We'll stick closer to the front, don't need any one pushing you" Lilly said as we left the dining room
"Okay first years, for those who don't know, the room we just left is called the great hall, we'll try to give a short tour while on the way to the Gryffindor tower" Luke said
"We'll just take the long way" Lilly said "don't need anyone getting lost" we turn down a hall way "So as of now we are on the ground floor, Hogwarts has seven floors. And be warned the stair cases move and there is one faulty step on them, just watch them one we skip and be sure to skip that one."
"But we'll get to them later" The teacher who had sorted us said coming up "giving a tour?" she asked
"Sorry professor McGonagall but we don't want any of them to get lost" Lilly said
"Well I suppose we can give a tour, I'll walk with you so you don't get into trouble. It's a wonder that you're not in raven claw Miss Gilbert, as smart as you are"
"Down this way is the transfiguration corridor, where you will find your Transfiguration class room, Professor McGonagall here is our transfiguration teacher and the head of Gryffindor house, her office in to the right at the begging of this corridor…." I zoned her out and juts followed along, I already knew my way around, the founders hired me to build this school for Zeus's Sake. We stopped at the portrait of a fat lady and hour later "And here we are at Gryffindor tower." Lilly turned to the portrait of the fat Lady "whopping willow" the portrait swung open to reveal a doorway. We entered into a living room that was huge, I noticed McGonagall was gone.
"Boys to the left girls to the right" Luke said heading up to the fifth year dormitory. I headed up to the first year dorm and went straight to my bed; I could tell it was mine because there was ana. I pulled the curtain shut around my bed and pulled off my shirt, vest and tie. The scar that Ares gave me a few weeks ago was still there. I noticed a shiny object on top of my luggage. It looked like a lighter. There was a note under it. I picked them both up.

I pulled down the lever and a rainbow came out of it, I let it off to not waste it. I put my pajamas on climbed into bed
