Chapter 23
Shocked, Scared & Amazed
Severus apperated Hermione back to the University Campus and let Hermione lead him to the campus coffee shop.
'What do you want?' Hermione asked as she got her purse out of her handbag.
'Let me.' He replied as he motioned Hermione to sit down. 'What do you want?'
'Ice coffee.' She replied as she sat down at the table.
'Should you be having coffee?' He asked as he raised an eyebrow.
'Oh…probably not.' She replied. 'Just an orange juice then.'
Severus nodded and walked off to order their drinks. When he returned he noticed Hermione staring at the photo of the scan.
'You alright?' he asked as he sat down pushing her orange juice towards his lover and mother of his child.
'Shocked, scared, happy, amazed.' She replied as she smiled up at him. 'You?'
'The same.' He replied. 'I never thought I'd have children.'
Hermione reached across the table and took his hand in hers and squeezed it.
'So much for taking this slow.' She stated with a smile as Severus smirked.
Severus walked Hermione back to her apartment after Hermione had persuaded him to stay with her seeing as he had not booked a hotel. They entered her apartment to find her flat mates out which Severus was relived about.
'I will book a Hotel tomorrow.' Severus replied as he sat on the uncomfortable sofa.
'Should you not go back to Hogwarts?' She replied as she sat next to him snuggling into him.
'You want me to leave?' He asked as he looked down at her as he placed his large hand over her flat stomach.
'Never.' She replied as she placed her smaller hand over his.
'Albus will cover my classes for a few days.' He replied placing a kiss on her head. 'I want to be here with you and spend every second possible with you. I don't want to miss a thing.'
'You won't be missing much except morning sickness. ' She replied as she turned in his arms so her head was in his lap looking up at him.
'Will you stay with me at Spinners End for Christmas?' He asked. 'Or will you be going to your parents?' he asked suddenly realising he had never asked about her parent.
Hermione sat herself up when he mentioned her parents. 'There…there in Australia.' She replied suddenly feeling the sadness wash over her, which didn't go unnoticed by her love.
'I….I took….before the war, before I left to go into hiding with Harry and Ron, I obliterated their memories off me and hid them in Australia.' She mumbled. 'They are still there and I….I can't undo the charm.'
'Hermione.' Severus said as he reached out to touch her cheek knowing the tears were about to come.
At his touch Hermione broke down. Severus pulled her to him and let her cry on him. He was never good with crying woman but this felt natural.
'I'm sorry.' She said after a few minutes of crying pushing herself off Severus' chest.
'You don't have to apologies.' He replied as he wiped her cheeks.
'I tried.' She said as she looked into his eyes. 'I went to find them after the War but I couldn't give them their memories back. They don't know who I am and they won't know they have a Grandchild.'
Severus pulled Hermione to him and placed a kiss on her lips. 'I promise you, I will help you to undo the charm and get your parents back.'
Hermione smiled slightly and nodded knowing Severus was making a promise to her. 'Thank you.'
The next three days Hermione and Severus checked into a hotel and spent most of their time exploring New York and each other's bodies. Severus left New York on the Friday to return to Hogwarts knowing Hermione would join him a week later for the Christmas break in the UK.
A tiny bit of inspiration hit me this morning.. hoping to get another chapter written soon.
