Spinner's End

Chapter 25

'Welcome to Spinner's End.' Severus said to Hermione as he helped her out of the floo.

Hermione stepped out of the floo and looked around the room, which looked like a small library. The walls were full with bookcases and in the corner under the window was a large dark oak desk with stacks of potions books upon it.

'It's lovely.' Hermione said as she looked up at Severus.

'It hasn't always looked like this.' He replied. 'I've recently had the whole house redecorated with the help from Narcissa Malfoy.'

'Really?' Hermione said as she looked at Severus.

'Narcissa and Lucius are my friends Hermione.' He replied. 'Draco is my godson.'

Hermione eyes widened at the new information. How did she not know that Severus was Draco's godson.

'I suppose there is a lot about you I don't know.' She replied quietly suddenly feeling stupid at not knowing this information.

'We have plenty of time to get to know each other better.' He replied knowing she needed reassurance.

Hermione merely nodded.

'Let me show you around.' Severus said as he took hold of her hand.

Severus showed Hermione around the house, showing her the living room and surprisingly large kitchen and dining room. Hermione had to admit Narcissa Malfoy had decorated the place rather well in light colours which made the rooms appears large and spacious.

Upstairs Severus showed Hermione the main bathroom, which appeared brand new, decorated in pure white, which surprised Hermione.

Next he showed her the master bedroom, which was a large L, shaped room. In the middle of the room was a large oak four-poster bed. Hermione walked straight up to the bed and sat on the edge.

'Feeling alright?' Severus asked.

'Yeah.' She replied looking up at him. 'Do you think we're ready…ready for a baby?'

'Hermione.' Severus replied walking to stand in front of her. 'I know this has been a shock and things have moved fast but we'll be okay.'

'How do you know?' she asked as a tear escaped and ran down her face.

'I know because I love you.' He said as he bent down and wiped her tear away. 'You have made me happier in these three months than I have ever been. You will be the most amazing mother and one day Hermione Granger I intend to make you Mrs. Snape.'

Hermione smiled up at Severus wrapping her arms around his neck and pulling him on top of her.

'I love you.' She said as she captured his lips with her own.

Three hours later, Hermione awoke in the large double bed. She looked over at her lover who was snoring away. Hermione quietly got out of bed and reached for Severus' white shirt. She pulled it on her body and made her way out the bedroom.

Hermione tiptoed downstairs and made her way to the office. She couldn't wait to get her hands on Severus' books. Hermione opened the door and made her way to his desk. She ran her fingers over the books reading the titles. She pulled one she was interested in and made her way over to the large leather armchair. Hermione grabbed the soft throw on the back of the chair throwing it around her legs so her bare legs didn't feel the cold leather.

Hermione opened the book and began to read.

'Granger.'

Hermione jumped and looked up to find one shocked Draco Malfoy stood in the office. Hermione grabbed the throw covering her chest, which was rather exposed in the white shirt.

'So you're the one keeping Uncle Severus busy.' He said with a smirk.

Hermione stuttered not knowing what to say. She hadn't seen Draco since the honorary Graduation at Hogwarts where all the 7th years that fought in the war graduated.

'Draco.' A deep voice said from the doorway making Hermione turn to find Severus stood in his black trousers and another white shirt.

'Uncle Severus.' Draco greeted.

'What are you doing here?' Severus asked.

'Mother wanted me to drop off this invitation for the New Year Ball.' He replied holding a white envelope. 'She's given you a plus one to bring your new….woman.' Draco said as he looked at Hermione.

Hermione looked at Draco and then to Severus. She felt uncomfortable and pulled the throw closer around her.

'Thank you Draco.' Severus replied as he walked towards Draco. 'I will reply to your mother tomorrow.'

'Would you like me to keep this between us and let you tell Mother and Father?' Draco said as he waved his hand about implying the couple.

'If you could.' Severus replied. 'I am due to see your Father in a few days and I was planning on telling him then.'

Draco nodded. "Well I better get going. Nice to see you Uncle Severus and you Granger.'

'Bye..Mal' She started.

'Draco. We're practically family now Granger.' He said with a laugh as he stepped into the floo.

'Sorry for that.' Severus said as he turned to face Hermione.

'I'm sure the Malfoy's don't want me at their New Year Party.' Hermione replied as she let the throw down to her waist.

'So that's where my shirt went.' He said with a smirk. 'And Lucius and Narcissa will be expecting me to bring my new woman.'

'There not exactly my biggest fans.' She replied.

'Don't worry Hermione.' He replied as he leant down to kiss her head.
